hi gill - glad party went well and your colds are better.

sorry you're feeling so down kinki. i hope your dh works out what he needs to do for all your sakes. must be very difficult for you.

knickers - your bump's amazing!!! i remember last feb i was desperate to be showin more and kept wearing tight tops to accentuate it, looking back at photos now it was barely there but i was so chuffed!

hope your back gets better soon james, not easy picking up little one when you'r in pain!

well dd is now crawling properly and it's a complete pita! cannot leave her alone for a second! we've not baby proofed this house at all and it's a nightmare retrieving her all the time! there's nowhere safe i can confine her! i gave my bumbo seat to a friend a few weeks ago becaise she learnt to arch her back enough to flip herself out of it! had her wieghed to day and she's 20lb 14oz!!!

james i wasn't sure what to do about the bottles because dd is wanting less and i'm finding it difficult fitting it all in. she said as long as she's having 15ozs formula and things like yogurt and cheese then that's fine. so when i'm at home i'll offer her three bottles but if we're oout or something i'm not going to stress if she doesn't get a daytime one!

got to go before dh moans about me being on mumsnet!!!

Back seems to be ok at the moment, but I'm getting dp to do all of the bending down and picking up just in case. How are you feeling, knickers? Do you think you'll find out the sex of your baby at the 5 month scan? got a preference?

I doubt it'll be long til James is mobile, he's trying his best. I'm kinda dreading it, I have visions of turning my back for two minutes then finding him licking the bin/loo/my trainers.

Aaw, sending you boy vibes then.Hope he's not a thug like mine. He punched me in the face yesterday, clenched fist, right in the mouth. It really hurt! He's obsessed with my face right now, smacking it, punching it, sticking his fingers in my mouth and nose, grabbing my teeth when I yawn as I'm waking up...

He was in bed with us all night last night as he'd got cold and then pooed and shrieked the house down dramatically so he was fully awake and all three of us took ages to get back to sleep so we're knackered today (naturally J is fine, he's sat here munching on a hot cross bun and grinning currants at me) I feel like death!

knickers, i misread that too and had a choking moment on my hot cross bun

James, hope you're ok, i know what it's like looking after a wee one when you're in pain! BIG HUGS. Callum is obsessed with faces too and when he's on bed with me, if i don't pull my fleece up over my mouth and nose i get his hands hooked between both of them

Callum call roll now and he crawls backwards but mainly does a caterpiller move to get where he wants to be-he's much happier for me to just hold his hand and walk him!

Hersetta-Callum also tries to launch himself head first off the sofa, so i have to put him on the floor now when i want to nip to the loo or kitchen!!

Tasha, hope ds2 is better soon

leifmum-well done on lo's weight-i've not had C weighed for ages

Gill-impressive that you fitted into the car seat, dh sometimes jokes that he thinks Callum wants him to try and fit into his cot or seat when he gets himself all comfy in daddys seat

knickers-when i asked my dentist about baby toothpaste he said either colgate baby one or something mild lke sensodyne if using adult one and just a tiny amount.

well done on her weight.

C does blw but of his own chice-he kinda refused purees and isn't letting us feed him atm so even yoghurts are off the agenda!!!

how is your sickness? your bump is making me very broody x x x

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/03/2008 14:16

Be careful of the salt in the fishfingers knickers, I've been wanting to try james with them but was worried about the salt content (salt is probably mostly in the coating, could be peeled off?) Think birdseye do some fishfingers which are gross as they have no/less salt in them, they'd probably be ok for babies, can't remember which ones they are though.

Going to buy a Leapfrong Learn and Groove activity station to night as so many of you have reccommended them!

oh shit, just looked down and James has been sick in his travel cot and is painting in it. Bollocks.

He vommed whilst having tummy time all over his toys, everything stinks of sour porridge. The travelcot mattress is soaked. I've just spent ages wiping him and his toys clean, it's EVERYWHERE. Not impressed, tummytime = bad.

Not having a good day. Ebay problems (just lost £500) and dad just called and I answered and hung up on him. Shit. Need to get drunk.

just a quick pop in from me.

dd2 went for her 1st full day to childminders today as part of her settling in. 2 weeks today and that's me back at work . she did really well apart even though she hardly slept

dd1 and 1 spent the day together and she was so well behaved . i even had some me time whilst she was at playgroup this morning - which apart from getting my hair cut in november is the first time i've been child free since dd2 was born!!!!

james- how have you managed to loose money on ebay ? really sorry to hear that, not what you need just now. will it affect the move etc?

tasha - how's your ds2, is the swelling still there?

knickers - she's sooooooo cute!

i forgot about this stage and having to be on alert at all times for bits of fluff, hair, dirt etc that dd2 finds on the floor, picks up, puts in mouth and goes 'mmmm, mmmm, mmmm,'

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/03/2008 22:20

aaaw knickers she's awesome! And she does loads of stuff! was she saying "gagaga" on one video? and crawling about really well, etc. J is juuust starting to shuffle about, mostly backwards. No talking but he listens and I think he does understand quite a few words as they get the right responses, things like "where's daddy" "bathtime" "toys" "do it again" "clever boy" "boe-boes time (time to sleep)" and "dinner"

Oh, the ebay thing, all it was was I'm selling a caravan, I'd written the advert and then rwalised I needed to change a couple of details, and I included a couple of pics of a mark on the wallpaper and a scratch on the outside (rest of caravan top notch, no damp etc) but my two top bidders pulled out leaving me £500 down. And I wasn't sure if the auction would recover. (Full moan here) but I think it'll probably be ok. Really need that money right now though for the house deposit and urgent bills so I hope karma doesn't bite me in the ass for being honest!

Back is fine today, no more calls off dad so all is well here.

My2weegirls thanks for the support earlier, appreciated! How are you feeling about going back to work? I'm like you, haven't left J at all much, no idea how he'd get on at a childminders.

Speaking of haircuts, I haven't had mine cut since my due date (4th august) so I'm starting to look like Neil off The Young Ones as it's halfway down my back, and tonight my brother asked me when I was going to dye my hair again LOL (haven't coloured it since finding out I was pg so it's now two tone- healthy mousy brown at the top and dry brittle blonde at the bottom) so I'm guessing I'm looking a bit tatty right now, perhaps time to get to the hairdressers! I must look a state!

Hi, just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself! My2Weegirls sent a link for me to come and poke my nose in here so thank u!

I'm a full time mummy and I am soooo looking forward to ds crawling. He seems to know what to do but hasn't quite got the coordination to push up with arms and legs at the same time!

He has been on solids for 7 weeks and is just starting on finger foods and I am a little concerned as he seems to gag on the slightest little chunks and lumps. Would love any tips!

Congratulations to knickers on the pg! You must be extatic! Me and dh have decided that ds will be an only child! lol. Bless him, ds is very good in some ways and has slept through since being 10 weeks old but can be rather grumpy and frustrated in the day Hopefully he'll perk up when he's a bit more mobile and independant!

Nice to meet you all anyway! Abby (and baby Joseph!)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/03/2008 09:33

Hi Meandmyjoe, welcome to the thread! I have a little boy called James, born 9th aug. Ooh, grumpy and frustrated in the day? I know that one! Well, it's usually more in the evenings here to be honest (and it's not just him lol)

Wouldn't worry too much about the gagging thing, it seems to be the only way they learn the limits of their mouth. Gradually the reflex will get further and further back in their mouths til they know not to shove enormous handfuls of marmite on toast with orange and banana (this mornings horror-breakfast, in the laundry sense at least!) in their gobs as it makes them retch. Unfortunately my little Einstein hasn't figured this one out yet!!

Oh my god, James and I are in love with the activity station thingy. I've had a full half hour of peace as he explores it all and batters the toys! I even left the room on several occasions and he didn't look up, nevermind scream like he'd been kicked in the goolies! fantastic. If it carries on like this I would highly reccommend this to anyone as a sanity saver for the clingy stage.

OP posts:
helibee · 19/03/2008 09:47

hi meandmyjoe, your pics on your profile are really cute, hope you're ok. Try not to worry about the gagging and keep persevering with finger foods, he'll get the hang of it. Callum (my ds) wont let me feed him atm so he's completely on finger foods.

Does Joseph enjoy being upright and playing? Maybe he's just a bit frustrated if he can't get to where he wants to go and you're right-he'll prob perk up once he's more mobile.

Knickers-dd is soooooo cute

My2weegirls-glad dd2 was good at the childminders. Are you going back to work pt or full time?

James-I need my hair cut and coloured too. I'm going to get it done on thurs eve-the hairdressers is in a big shopping centre so Dh is going to walk Callum round then we'll have dinner there. I've not been apart from Callum at all except for the few hours i was in hospital last month and the odd half hour when MIL is playing with him in another room.

Callum sucked all the cheese off of his pasta last night but he ate the chicken bits and he seems to love cauliflower at the moment.

Anyway i've got to do lots of tidying today if Callum will let me-we've a skip being delivered tomorrow for a big clear out.

Oh James, are you anywhere near Penycae? Just remembered you saying you were near wrexham and my BIL used to live there. Also looked at the caravan on ebay with the other link, you poor thing with the buyers pulling out, i think you were right to be honest and hopefully you'll get some more bidders today x
