I was tempted to write the subject with reference to NM .

spongecake · 01/05/2008 08:04

it is quiet on here.. foxy, all your hols sounds great and v organised to get them booked. rosy at your dh, hope it works out best for you.

am looking for advice today as my ds wakes up lots in the night-am so tired- think its because he gets tangled in his sheets/blankets. If you use a duvet any advice?

spongecake · 01/05/2008 08:05

oh and have you seen tip of the day? someone is having a laugh surely.. mine is to drink it all

TheBlonde · 01/05/2008 09:34

spongecake - I use grobags so no tangling here

LunarSea · 01/05/2008 10:34

spongecake - had you tried using a baby sleeping bag instead? Manically busy with work still here, and we're having the kitchen refitted - no date for work yet but dh has started demolishing the old one!

Rosylily · 01/05/2008 10:57

Hasan has chicken pox but it's okay, good to get it out of the way. He's not too bad so far. Dd has one blistery spot and she had a headache yesterday so I had to keep her off school today and she was gutted.

Spongecake Hasan shares my duvet now I agree a sleepbag might be the best idea.

Dh is here and we are getting on fine. I have no hopes, dreams or expectations about my marriage anymore which is quite freeing.

Foxy I'm impressed by all your bargain holidays! very good!

Lunar that sounds hectic but how exciting. What is your new kitchen going to be like? Anything fancy? (would love a fancy kitchen)

Divastrop · 01/05/2008 12:03

sponge-Elsie has a duvet now,and a blanket as well to put over her head(dont ask-shes strange like her dad).she did have a sleeping bag but when she started pulling herself up to stand she was getting more tangled in that than she would in anything else.you have my sympathy though as she has been waking several times a night for 2 weeks now due to teething/bunged up nose/cough and i am knackered.

rosy-expect nothing and you wont be disappointed,eh?i have come to the conclusion recently that my life is better generally with dh in it and have been concentrating on the good things rather than the negative.

i reckon its better for the lo's to get chicken pox at this age.ds2 had it at 16 months and it hardly bothered him,but ds and dd1 got it when they were 4/5 and were really ill.

Rosylily · 01/05/2008 12:34

Diva you are spot on, I am sick of being a disappointed person, I've had enough of that.

I get jealous of happy loving couples and I don't want to be a jealous person. I know I am really very lucky.

So I too am concentrating on the positive. good idea!

kiwibella · 01/05/2008 12:40

you know, I check in here a couple of times most days - I'm just too lazy to post . I couldn't live without all your little updates just to know everything is ok!!

Diva - good on you for enjoying your dh. To me, it seems that he loves you lots... and I kinda agree with someone who earlier joked that he wants to be wanted. It is lovely that he was protective of your dd.

I have also had to give up the sleeping bag for Kate. She gets so frustrated when she stands up and cries until she has ripped herself out of it. Luckily, it is a dreambag which has domes at the top (btw did anyone else get a dreambag online and has their embroidery come apart??? Disappointing).

Sponge, I don't use a duvet but Kate's bed is made up with a sheet and fleecy blanket on top. She also wakes several times during the night and I'm wondering whether this will ever end. I wish we could move her out of our room so, at least, I could ignore her . It's exhausting.... how much longer can it go on??? She is still feeding once or twice during the night.

Foxy... great idea to book up on the holidays - really something to look forward to. Yay!!

Welcome back Rosy!!! Hope that you and the children had a great time

A friend of mine has just left for a three-year trip around the world this morning with her three year old son. They have a four-wheel vehicle with a tent on the roof!! here

Hope everyone is well x x

Piffle · 01/05/2008 20:00

rosy lovee! Welcome home!!! Hope hasan has mild dose of the pox. Sorry relationship under pressure. Hope you can work some love back into things.
eids- poor dd3 hope the finger is healing, can imagine keeping the dressing on would be nigh on impossible.

Sleeping bag here. Finn is not hindered by it at all.
right can I ask about your babies activity levels?
walking outside etc?
Finn is manic. Is riding little tykes coupe car. Legging it down the road. Running around dds playground with the big kids.
he climbs, digs and jumps!!! Loves the mini tramp and being outside.
I let him run at the big park locally and he walked for 2 hrs solid.
be sleeps about 45mins a day now. But usually through night waking maybe once on the odd night. Hits the ground running at 6am.
I'm knackered he is so physical. How can a couch potato gene pool lead to this?
he is pushing dd round like a rugby prop forward too. She grips doorframes in order to stay upright.

He is major league action boy. Rolls off the couch and giggles. Walks off the back door step unaided.
I'm in fricking bits worrying but he is so cocky and able!

Hence why I rarely post anymore

spicemonster · 01/05/2008 20:16

Rosy! You're back - hurrah!

Ooh eids - your poor DD. Must have been traumatic for DD2 too. Hope it all heals up nicely

It always takes me ages to find you lot again - why isn't this thread a sticky at the top of active convos eh?

Well I am officially on gardening leave - 3 months with no work but being paid! I can't quite believe it. I have three more weeks of Elliot at nursery for 3 days and I have a list as long as a long person's arm (mine are too short) of everything I have to get done in those precious nine days otherwise I'll whitter away on here and get nothing achieved. Actually it's only 8 because of the bank holiday. And then I will be a full time SAHM for two whole months . I suspect I'll be quite glad to start my new job by August ...

I shall read the rest of the thread now. Hopefully now the weather should be getting better (although we've just had a massive thunderstorm here) our DCs ailments will be over. I have about my fill of going to the doctors!

Divastrop · 01/05/2008 20:42

spice-i enter MN via this thread on my favourites.i do it that way so im less tempted to click on 'threads im on' and engage in arguments i should really leave alone.

piffle-@ action boy!my dd2 has only been doing all those things for a couple of months and she's 2.4.Elsie just has a go on the swings when shes in the park then sits in the buggy.she did start to climb the stairs at the weekend but she seems to have forgotten about it now.

Piffle · 01/05/2008 21:00

diva you argumentative? Nah no way?
saz gardening leave eh... Cushy! Lovely to have the summery months off with E.

Oh the stairs diva... Finn likes to attempt to walk down. I swear my heart cannot take it

fitfox · 01/05/2008 21:20

Kiwi - your friends are so adventurous!! I love their blog too. Now that's the kind of thing which makes me feel bored with my job!!!

Sponge - I have excactly the same problem with Monti-chubs. He woke me about 8 times last night. He wakes, sits up, grizzles, farts a bit, suckles, sleeps. An hour later its the same thing....He also gets tangles up in my duvet, but I doubt he would let me put a baby grow on him - it would cramp his style

He has a Beatles hair style atm and runs around with fat little bandy legs every where getting up to mischief

Spice - your leave sounds great. You should pop over for a cuppa one day when you are off work

Kitty - I am going to pop down to Brighton beach when it gets warmer. I will, I will, I will..

We have the Mayoral elections on here today. I voted tactically .Traditionally Tory voters turn out when it rains and Labour don't, so we could all wake up in Boris Land tomorrow morning!!! . Spice did you vote?

Diva IKWYM about those threads. I used to like the when I was PG, hormonal and fiesty. Now I am too knackered to care...

LunarSea · 01/05/2008 21:22

Rosy, it's not that fancy - only from Ikea! Cabinets are white, but with solid oak worktops. A bit like this but with different handles, solid oak worksurfaces and taller wallcupboards, most of which won't be glass fronted. But there'll also be a matching dresser with open shelves, and solid oak shelving above the units in the utility area. I'll post some pics when it's done.

We're going through a very messy phase at the moment as Toby won't let us feed him any more, but his control of his spoon often lets him down!

LunarSea · 01/05/2008 21:24

Just noticed thread is about to implode - 990+ posts now. About time we had a new one.

Piffle · 01/05/2008 21:48

oh nice lunar! we like ikea kitchens
we have a saga atm with our kitchen floor needing to be ripped out along with 1metre square holes in downstairs loo hall and study due to mega leak...
whole kitchen and all flooring ripped out damp proof course may have been breached, we may get moved out when work starts.due to drying times being lengthy and equipment being noisy and polluting
I'm in denial, well if I did not notice the loss of my dishwasher (suspected of causing the leak) that is.
Speaking of kitchens... finn takes apart ours,I thought I'd give him free access within reason to cupboards thinking he would get bored eventually... still waiting...

spongecake · 01/05/2008 22:26

am going to go for a duvet- he hated a bag from day one, and now he is standing etc think he will fall in cot etc etc. he woke up 5 times last night, and took 2 hours to get off tonight- fell asleep at 7 then woke up for stories. he has decided without any prompting from me he likes to sit on me and look at picture books before bed. over and over befor throwing them to the floor (him) and laying on me

am trying to distract him from bf but truly very difficult for us both at least

lucky you spice, hope its a lovely time for you both.

rosy, diva, sounds very positive- have had huge row with dh so not in that space yet, but will try

piffle, i would have voted for boris if i was still in london, sheer entertainment value. and private eye would be unputdownable

am so tired and irritable. want bath but am scared will wake up the little dictatortinker

kittywise · 01/05/2008 22:28

Hello all too tired to post but wanted to sat Piff Ron is very much the same but not as strong as Finn perhaps.
He runs, jumps, climbs walks up and down steps unaided.
He doesn't sleep in the day
He is as thin as a racing snake

Rosy hope the CP doesn't get too bad, better get it over with

kiwibella · 01/05/2008 22:43

Foxy, mentioning Monti farting during the night.... Kate can now recognise when she has farted and says "ooooo". I find it hilarious!!!

Hubs went down and voted. I have no idea .

Piffle, you have an active guy there!! I can't believe that he and Ronny are so busy but hardly sleep. Kate can walk up and down the stairs to our flat. She runs, if I am not fast enough. Traffic scares me. I stare at her while she is feeding and wonder when she got so big. It has happened so quickly.

Congrats Spice... enjoy the time in the sunshine with your wee man. All we need now is the sunshine. I've had enough of this rain!!

I'm going to post about a mass feed at Trafalgar Square on the Friday of BF week.

A little boy at Kate's playgroup today was wearing a tshirt that said "I like boobies" .

this message was not sent to me personally but a mail-list I subscribe to:

Further to my email of yesterday, ITV have asked me to let you know that they will be hosting and filming a mass public breastfeeding event in central London on Friday 16th May at noon in Trafalgar Square (north side, outside the National Gallery) to coincide with Breastfeeding Awareness Week.

Anybody who would like to take part is asked to bring a blanket, a baby, a brolly and a bottle of water.
