mossy-pmsl@do's and dont's.will have to show it to dh though as he likes throwing baby up in the air, which seems to be advised against

hello everyone else.i am half asleep as i didnt get to sleep untill after 2am(due to baby teething/discussions with dh)and ds2 woke me up at 5.30 am.

Elsie is asleep in her high chair

muppetisacat · 28/01/2008 12:37

oops - lol at mossy sorry! Rosy you must have been wondering why i was laughing at you

Rosylily · 28/01/2008 12:49

I knew you meant Reverssy Muppet

Got my blood test results, low iron and I'm perimenopausal. so that's it. That's why I have no energy among other things. sigh.

I shall be a different person once I've started getting the iron pills down my neck.

muppetisacat · 28/01/2008 13:19

rosy - get that iron in you girl! what is perimenopausal? is it like a pre-stage or something??

Rosylily · 28/01/2008 14:41

I googled it but it's a bit vague.
Fatigue, sleep disturbances, hot flushes, worse pmt, reduced fertility etc. Think I've been in it for a while. Rang my mum and she said her mother stopped her periods at 40 and my mum started menopause at 42
Maybe I won't get my periods back

I should have known my iron was low it's a recurring problem for me. At least it's easily fixed.

kittywise · 28/01/2008 16:14

lol@ do's and don't's! I do some of those don't's

I have read, just not had time to write

Happy birthday callie!!!!!!

Rosy A friend I met at antenatal with ds1 wanted to have a second. She tried for ages. She had become pg easily with her first, honeymoon accident ! Anyway she eventually found out she was going through the menopause and she was only 40 .

It is linked to your mum isn't it? I think mine was at about 50. How do you feel about it?.

Bloody jaw is playing up again

Divastrop · 28/01/2008 16:37

woo-hooElsie has finally got two top teeth!

my mum had a full hysterectomy when she was 37 so i dont know what age she would have gone through the menopause.

rosy-glad your tiredness is easily sortedyou will be back to your normal self in no time.

my blood test results were all fine.i havent put any more weight on so i think it must have been the other tablets anyway.

muppetisacat · 28/01/2008 20:08

Yes, happy birthday Callie

sorry your jaw is bad kitty... are things better with your dp now?

rosy - my cousin is going through her menopause at 40 - she already has her child (only wanted one) but i think it's been a shock for her... are you worried about it at all?

Divastrop · 28/01/2008 20:23

oops

happy birthday callie!

fitfox · 28/01/2008 21:18

Rosy - is perimenopausal the bit before pre-menopausal? Kitty that happened to my freind too. Was trying for kids for about 5 yrs then decided to have IVF. Went for the IVF pre- tests and they told her she was perimenopausal at 42 and that no one in UK would give her IVF. Rosy - you weren't planning another were you?

spicemonster · 28/01/2008 21:23

Happy birthday callie

ooh rosy - that's what my friend has got. She said it's a pain - has hot flushes that come and go and mood swings TBH I thought that was the menopause though - how do you know when you move from peri to full?

Do you feel alright about it? My mum started hers at 39 and my gran at 38 so not quite sure what happened to me. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to have another one though which makes me sad (even though it's ludicrous to even consider it financially, I'd really like another baby).

Had a good discussion with HR about flexible working today. So it's just the losing 1/5 of my salary I have to figure out now

reversee - that dos and don't list made me pmsl - I wish someone had sent that to me before I'd had a baby

Rosylily · 28/01/2008 21:41

Foxy I am presuming peri and pre are the same thing and when I read the symptoms that is what I thought the menopause was so I am a bit confused

Anyhow, I am okay, I have as many babies as I could wish for. My mother stopped getting her migraines when she had 'the change' so for that possibility, I'm looking forward to it.

but it does make me very aware that I'm ageing now

bethoo · 28/01/2008 21:45

Happy birthday Callie - did you do anything nice?

i would liek another baby in the future but do not know if i should wait as 31 this year. i thought i would be pregnant this month as have been at it like rabbits esp during ovulation time. taken tests and negative, AF due today. so i am thinking that i may not be ovulating!!

kiwibella · 28/01/2008 21:58

that link is so silly... as for buying the book !!!

Glad that you have some sort of answer Rosy... hope that the migraines eventually cease and the iron supplements help you to feel better quickly. My mum had a hysterectomy too but she must have been really young - my parents split when she was about 36 or 37 and it was before then??

I'd love another baby but no luck again this month - af arrived tonight. It is interesting that you would consider another baby Spice... was the process difficult to conceive Elliot??

Yay, Diva!! I'm pleased that your tests were ok... u too will be back to yourself soon.

Happy birthday Callie... hope you enjoyed your weekend celebrations!!

Both girls are vomiting with this awful bug Hubs can't do vomit so is hilarious but hopeless!! He can't even look while they are puking .

kiwi - i remember seeing that book in the shop and ended up reading it from beginningot end at the counter!!!

kiwi - it will happen, i thought i would be preggers too. isnt it wierd that when you do not try it happens (only took once for me once!!) and now that consciously hoping/trying it does not happen??

kiwibella · 28/01/2008 22:10

Foxy... I think the book helped me most to relax and realise whatever worked for Kate was ok. It explains sleep patterns which has meant that I don't just pick her up when she wakes and presume that she has finished. I now coax her back to sleep - and the periods between are getting longer.

My favourite line from the book was that sucking to sleep is not a "negative sleep association' - it is a natural and pleasant association a baby can have. This is followed by advice for how to diminish this association.

I feel like I am doing a poor job of explaining how useful I have found this book. I had a terrible time with MissE sleeping (she slept all night from an early age but she didn't sleep at all during the day)... and I am impatient in my nature... that I have been amazed at how simple it is to teach my baby to sleep.

kiwibella · 28/01/2008 22:11

bethoo... it took ten years of trying to get Kate - and once we gave up, we fell pregnant within a year. We will only continue to try until the end of the year so fingers, toes and everything else crossed (except the essential ).

bethoo · 28/01/2008 22:14

kiwi - i would not give yourself a dead line as that is giving yourself extra pressure that may affect yuor chance of conceiving.

Rosylily · 28/01/2008 22:16

a watched pot never boils

Rosylily · 28/01/2008 22:17

(now I'm getting old I'm just saying old peopley sayings here in the corner)

TheBlonde · 28/01/2008 22:21

hello all

eids - I hope the first day of big school goes well

hope the ill people are feeling better

Rosy - if it is the change will you be taking HRT?

Kiwi - hope the vom bug passes asap

I am worn out, waiting for my B12 shot on Thurs which I hope will perk me up

spicemonster · 28/01/2008 22:37

kiwi - it was easy actually, worked 1st time But I think if you haven't got any fertility issues, your chances of success are quite high because they pick sperm that is compatible with your eggs rather than because it comes from a man you have the hots for

kitty/piffle - how are you both feeling? piff, I hope you have consigned your kettleball to the shed!

muppetisacat · 29/01/2008 09:49

sperm compatible with eggs???? What??? I never knew some were more suitable than others????? Explain!!!!

Piffle · 29/01/2008 10:03

kiwiw great book called taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler, I tried for 4 yrs for Finn, read her book and 2 mths later was pregnant. Exc read.

Rosy for iron great thing called Spatone, does not constipate tastes fine with juice and it gets iron up bloody quickly.

Me been re diagnosed with SPd again and sacro iliac dysfunction, finally have a diagnosis which makes sense. Had SPD bad during pregnancy until 7 mths when osteo helped.
Cannot believe I let it get this bad - went to great physio yesterday. She was good, not going to be sorted for 6 -12 mths but I am at least now on the right track.

Anyway cannot sit so my love and warmth to everyone.

LunarSea · 29/01/2008 11:38

kiwi - if you want the Toni Weschler book I've got a copy which I won't be needing again as I'm not planning to have any more. I'd been thinking about putting it on the For Sale boards, but it's such an alien culture there these days I'd not dared to get involved!
