I was going to have a sneaky peak at the scales today, but forgot and and got dressed instead.

Pedometer has recovered and was reading the sane number as when it fell in the bath. It's a bit grim to trail the LOs round the village purely for my exercise sake, so it might be an after-bedtime walk again (which is good because I can go faster)

Food not going well though...

sputnik · 10/01/2008 11:04

Well I did do a sneaky peak and I appear to have gained weight. And I hadn't even drunk my coffee yet. However, I did adjust the scales a few days ago as I noticed they were about 1kg under so maybe they were wrong at my initial weighing
Can't walk anywhere really atm as I am suffering from a self-inflicted septic toenail (you really needed that info, right?), which, hopefully, is clearing up now.

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 11:12

Ouch on the toenail, sputnik. And I bet the scales were reading under when you first weighed, so you haven't gained anything

sputnik · 10/01/2008 11:23

Or perhaps it's the weight of the pus

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 11:23

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeww

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 17:18

3.2 miles walked in the rain after lunch and then a little bit (0.7) later on the way home from baby group And I have just smugly had a large carrot to fight of hunger pangs instead of a couple of slices of toast. Yes you can throw that rotten fruit at me now!

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 20:18

well done jammy!

not even 2000 steps here today. Think I'm getting man-flu!

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 20:30

Thanks Ria, and hope you feel better soon

milkyJammy · 11/01/2008 19:53

No exercise here today, other than a stroll to the library and back Has resulted in me feeling bored and wanting comfort food However, I have resisted so far and am making do with a comforting stew of mixed root vegetables, which I reckon is healthy enough to allow 1 or maybe 2 of the small dumplings I'm making with it. They are made with Atora light after all (which still has a scary number of calories per 100g) Hoping stodgy stew and dumplings does the trick so that I can resist the choccies later.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 11/01/2008 21:01

Oh jammy, I found a recipe for dumplings that didn't have suet in in, just flour and water and baking powder I think. I'll try and search it out for future ref if you remind me.

My new pedometer is the dogs danglies! I think it's this. You can even use it in a bag or in your pocket. It resets itself each day and saves your steps for a week. It shows your steps, no of kcal burned and no of grams of fat theoretically burned. It's very accurate too. The only downside is that you aren't really supposed to wear it around the house, it prefers to count at a steady pace, not just wondering around. I think that's what makes it so accurate. Plus when you are doing more than 60 steps a min for more than 10 mins it changes to "aerobic" steps which you are supposed to aim for about 3,000. It's brill!

wow bumper. does it wash up and mow the lawn?

My gran used to make dumplings with margarine if she didn't have suet, so maybe you could use low fat marg? Will check out my cast collection of diet recipe books when I get chance. If you only had veg in your stew though it should be fine jammy.

No exercise here either, but massive amounts of ironing... (the backlog pile is done. Yippeeeeeeeee!)

thisisRialifebaby · 11/01/2008 21:21

VAST, obviously

milkyJammy · 11/01/2008 21:24

Well it was low fat suet. Anyway I've had them now - and as I said I only had 2, DH had 6!!! And he's meant to be trimming down as well

thisisRialifebaby · 11/01/2008 21:35

If DH managed 6 they were either super-delicious, or small enough not to touch the sides. Neither of which count

My dumplings are like lead weights and you only need one to gain a stone

milkyJammy · 12/01/2008 07:35

LOL!

thisisRialifebaby · 12/01/2008 11:43

I've walked the tennis run twice today - 9950 steps already

and, when I've finished this well-earned bacon butty (no eggs) we're off to the forestry.

I'll be cream-crackered by teatime!

thisisRialifebaby · 12/01/2008 20:54

yay. 20480 steps. Tomorrow I don't have to get out of bed

milkyJammy · 13/01/2008 08:06

Am Ria. No exercise here for 2 days now. And I know I can't lame anyone but myself. It's a shame that it was such a nice day yesterday and I didn't go out, but I was busy with making lunch for friends etc. Oh and that meant it wasn't a good food day either Ah well, a new day today and we WILL go for a nice long walk, even if it does pour with rain!

milkyJammy · 13/01/2008 12:49

4.75 miles (inc a long hill) in 1.5 hours Feeling much better now, with a nice warm ache-ey feeling in my thighs.

thisisRialifebaby · 13/01/2008 16:39

well done jammy

no activity here other than eating lunch, and walking to DMs and back which takes about 5 minutes in total. I will have to go out later as I need some change for swimming money, so I might walk to the shop. Need the kids in bed and be in my chair by 9pm for Kingdom.

back to it tomorrow though...

milkyJammy · 13/01/2008 16:50

Kingdom? (Jammy is so out of touch with modern culture )

thisisRialifebaby · 13/01/2008 20:10

DH walked to the shop (obviously having had 3 hours at home COMPLETELY ALONE he needed to get away from the boys).

thisisRialifebaby · 14/01/2008 09:50

Right then, new week, new diet.

Slimming World it is this week in an attempt to see if I can stick to it for more than 5 hours (then obviously if I can last the week I can carry on with it IYSWIM)! I need the freedom of being able to have SW chips for supper...

sputnik · 14/01/2008 10:01

I'm with you Ria, this week WILL be better.

Congratulations on all that walking, you're really doing well

Still can't really walk with this toenail but will drag the exercise bike out when the baby naps later.

milkyJammy · 14/01/2008 12:51

I'll support the thing about it being a whole new week.

BTW can anyone tell me, do butterbeans count as a vegetable (as in 5 a day)?

When lunch has settled somewhat we're heading off for a walk again. not as far as yesterday, but enough to do me some good.
