Only managed 2.25 miles on this afternoon's walk as C was screaming loudly and it was getting embaressing, so we headed for home but the direct route. Still, we also walked a mile and a half this morning to/from baby group, and have just had a virtuous apple as a snack, so not so bad.

milkyJammy · 16/01/2008 16:28

I've promised DH chilli and bakies and home made slaw for tea. Now I've got to make it as healthy as I can . Well it is low fat mince, so that's a start, and if I throw in loads of onions, mushrooms and tomatos, that's got to be good hasn't it? And I'll try to use minimal (low fat) mayo on the slaw. Actually, I know it'll be OK, but the problem is that I love chilli and slaw so much, that I'll be tempted to eat FAR, FAR, too much

thisisRialifebaby · 16/01/2008 16:48

well done jammy. better than me today. But it's only one day. Not that I've been troughing chocolate or anything, but haven't stuck rigidly to a plan as such.

You can make really yummy coleslaw with low fat natural yogurt and low fat salad cream instead of mayo. It's not as creamy but has a nice bite.

DH is making pasta bake I think.

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 16/01/2008 19:45

ooh ladies I blew it today and had a burger for lunch out

thisisRialifebaby · 16/01/2008 21:00

Did it taste good though andiem?

There's always another tomorrow

thisisRialifebaby · 16/01/2008 21:09

Just popping back to say my tea was delicious

DH made a pasta bake with chicken breasts, pasta(obviously), sweetcorn, mushrooms and a can of campbells low fat condensed chicken soup, with low fat mozzarella on top. Scrummy.
So not too bad a day and I'll be back on track tomorrow.

I have realised today I have probably put on over a stone since I had my contraceptive implant in Sept. Must try harder!

milkyJammy · 17/01/2008 08:49

Glad your tea was delicious Ria. Our chilli was good, and by adding up the calories as I added ingredients I reckon the pan full was about 1200 calories. So good job I was strict and made us save half for tonight, instead of having huge portions like we might have done if I'd not been thinking healthily.

sputnik · 17/01/2008 10:33

I didn't have such a good day yesterday either, mainly because I hit a major wave of tiredness in the afternoon (after a bad night's sleep) and hit the toast and peanut butter big time. I had a decent night last night so no excuses today.
I was going to suggest low fat yogurt on the coleslaw too. I tend to consider most veg as being "free". For example I make massive stir-fries full of veg and eat it with very little rice.

milkyJammy · 17/01/2008 10:54

I normally "dilute" low fat mayo with low fat yoghurt when making slaw, but I knew we didn't have any plain yog in the fridge (and didn't fancy strawberry flavoured slaw ) and wasn't going to the shop again. But I just measured out the mayo carefully, so I knew how many calories worth we had and took account of that. Oh, and I did think it down a little with some lime juice to make it go further too.

thisisRialifebaby · 17/01/2008 11:33

have started well...

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 17/01/2008 14:31

have started well today as well ria but supposed to be going out with dh tonight

milkyJammy · 17/01/2008 16:38

Stood on the scales again this morning - 4lb lost in the past fortnight

milkyJammy · 17/01/2008 17:14

And a bit over 2 miles walked this afternoon

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 17/01/2008 17:48

well done jammy

we should try to wok out how much we all lose every week to spur us on even more

sputnik · 17/01/2008 21:23

Nice one Jammy
all that walking is paying off

milkyJammy · 17/01/2008 21:27

Just watching last night's "Eat to save your life" programme and it's enough to make you want to eat all the "right" things and NONE of the "bad" things. Not surprisingly they're concentrating on fat, sugar and salt. When I'm trying to be healthy I think about the fat and sugar and overall calories I'm eating, but must say I've never paid much attention to the salt. So now I've got something else to worry about!

milkyJammy · 18/01/2008 10:32

However, a seriously crying baby (only because she's tired and yet doesn't want to nap, nothing actually wrong) made me have a couple of biscuits I did stop at 2 though

HellHathNoFury · 18/01/2008 13:07

BOLLOCKS

my day was going so well then I wolfed down a WHOLE PACK of caramelised cashews.

Not surprisingly I am not hungry any more.

Sputnik · 18/01/2008 13:28

Sounds delicious. Ddn't even now those existed - probably a good thing.

Jammy, th sound of the baby crying makes me want to stuff myself too.

I may have lost 1 or 2 lbs here (scales are crap though), which is not too bad consdidering I've only had a couple of really virtuous days, 1 bad one and the rest neutral

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 18/01/2008 13:38

God i'm being v rubbish at this! when the weather is crap i just don't want to go out walking. the good thing is the christmas crap is slowly going down and i'm just not buying any more bad food. my worst trigger is when i have had a crap day i feel like i deserve a treat!

you sound like you are all doing really well though (cashews notwithstanding ).

milkyJammy · 18/01/2008 15:40

We just been out and before we left I really didn't want to go out, and was trying to justify only walking 2 miles instead of the 3 I knew should. But by the time we had gone less than a mile, I was really enjoying it and ended up extending the route to make it 4 miles! And I didn't even mind that the last mile was in the rain

milkyJammy · 19/01/2008 17:38

3 miles walked in the drizzle/light rain with my brother today. But I did have a small portion of xmas pudding

thisisRialifebaby · 19/01/2008 17:50

Well done jammy, that's dedication.

I can hardly get myself out of bed, so diet and exercise gone by the wayside. Black gloomy days

milkyJammy · 19/01/2008 18:26

good grief, just looked over the past weeks messages and I've walked 22 miles this week!

HellHathNoFury · 21/01/2008 07:47

Jammy you are freaking me out with all this walking. I walk from the house to the car... and back again.

Having said that I have lost 7lbs so far, but can only take credit for 2lbs. the other 5lbs was thanks to being violently ill... and as such I will no doubt pile it all back on as soon as I eat a proper meal.
