Thank you for sharing @MrsTD88 that sucks it was worse this time around. Ah yeah me too I still have the remnants of a covid chest and it’s making me wince. Hope DP is up for doing everything toddler related for the time being 😬. Wow that is one hell of a medication list, we really are warriors, it’s a full time job just scheduling all that in 😂.

MrsTD88 · 24/09/2021 07:58

@FTEngineerM oh no that must be so uncomfortable! I remember the covid chest well and how long it lingered for. I hope it eases for you soon. I'm sure he will, that way you can just focus on baby. My husband has been doing the school run and everything house related this week thankfully. You're right! We don't give ourselves enough recognition sometimes, we really put ourselves through it. Definitely never again for me though, husband is being sent for a vasectomy as soon as he can get an appointment with a GP to get on the waiting list!

SillyBry · 24/09/2021 12:20

@FTEngineerM @MrsTD88 funny you mention the snip… the midwife was doing the standard discharge contraception chat with me and I was like “you can stop right there. He’s having the snip,.. I’m NEVER doing that again!” 🤣🤣

Noodles4Me · 24/09/2021 14:45

Congrats @FTEngineerM. My first 48 hours after section was rough, but recovered well quickly. 5 weeks on now and all good, driving, long walks - even done sex (extremely well protected!!!)

How you coping having toddler though? He tried to jump on you/abdomen yet?

crobo87 · 24/09/2021 15:07

@Noodles4Me how long did you wait before you drove? I'm 3 weeks post natal and desperate to drive.

MrsMcNtobe · 24/09/2021 16:57

@Noodles4Me @crobo87 midwives told me my car insurance will be void for 6 weeks, is this not the case? Being unable to drive it killing me

Noodles4Me · 24/09/2021 17:29

@MrsMcNtobe @crobo87 not really. Most insurance go by what doctor said, my doctor said I need to be able to do emergency stop so driving after 16 days and has been amazing.

I've learned that it's best to ignore midwives on pretty much everything. That's what I've taken from entire pregnancy and birth! 😵

MrsTD88 · 25/09/2021 10:46

@Sillybry I always thought I'd feel a little sad when the time came to stop but honestly never want to do that again. After seeing how much I've put my body through he's happy to have the snip which is great because otherwise he wouldn't be coming anywhere near me 🤣🤣

SillyBry · 25/09/2021 11:20

@MrsTD88 my labour was shorter this time and I had no stitches, which I had last time. But I definitely had multiple moments in the final hour of labour where I was like I am NEVER doing this again!! I definitely felt like it was less pleasant this time around!
I’ll probably feel a bit sad when selling baby bits as they are outgrown. But I’m very happy to not consider being pregnant or giving birth again! 🤣🤣

CobleCloud · 25/09/2021 12:59

Hi ladies, I'm after a bit of advice is anyone formula feeding or have any experience of this in the past?

I'm starting to feel better so wanting to go out and about a bit, what the best way to take formula with you on the go? What do I need to be able to make bottles up when out and about, I've had a Google and keep getting different answers around if you take things to cool it down or heat it up, can you prep bottles before hand or does that come with more a risk? I am clueless! Thanks in advance x

KHR1 · 25/09/2021 13:09

@CobleCloud I formula fed DC1 and used to buy cartons of premade formula for days out - you can get big or small ones. It's not generally advised to make up powder in advance, think it has to be used within an hour (I might be wrong on that though) but as far as i know the cartons are good for 24 hours if kept cool. We had a tommee tippee flask that is specifically for heating bottles, was quite cheap and some cool bottle bags for storing the cartons. The flask could also be used to make up powder on the go.

KHR1 · 25/09/2021 13:14

Sorry I was wrong about the 1 hour thing, the link says a few hours and goes through how to prepare it to make it last.

Mamabearwhere · 25/09/2021 13:39

@CobleCloud I formula fed my second and used to carry to small flasks. One with boiling water and one with cooled down boiled water. I had little formula compartment container and would make a shot of the formula and boiling water then top up with cooled water to get the right temp. Sounds faffy but once you get the hang of it it takes seconds.

You could also get the pre made ones if your little one is happy to drink room temp milk.

Mamabearwhere · 25/09/2021 13:39

Two small flasks *

crobo87 · 25/09/2021 13:50

I use pre made formula if we are going out. We haven't been out much to need to buy many but they are very handy. Oscar will drink milk at room temp so no need to warm it up either

MrsTD88 · 25/09/2021 13:51

@SillyBry yeah me too with selling bits as kept all our big stuff last time but as you say happy not to be pregnant again.

@CobleCloud same advice as above re the pre-made formula and the flask. I'm combi feeding at the moment but exclusively formula fed from around 2 weeks last time due to various reasons. The pre-made formula is great when you're out and about. You can buy a tommee tippee bottle steriliser that goes in the microwave that does a single bottle if you were going to a friend or relatives house so you could take the powder with you for things like that. You could also make up a bottle just before you head out and it can last for two hours. We have a few of the tommee tippee insulated bags to keep the bottle at the temp you want.

CobleCloud · 25/09/2021 14:07

Thanks ladies.. that has made things clearer, I did buy a tommee tipee bundle so have a formula container with compartments and the bottle bags etc it was just working out what to do with all the bits and how to handle it.

Hope everyone and their little ones are doing well x

Scotti84 · 25/09/2021 16:11

I'm the opposite to you guys @MrsTD88 and @SillyBry, I can't wait to be pregnant again. The birth was much harder than i thought and scared me to hell when she started getting distressed but we did it, she's here, healthy and perfect and I will heal and have survived. I just am annoyed that i found the right person to do this with so late in life that we don't really have time to have more than 2. I always said I'd want two tho, and promised my mum. She said we should incase anything happens to me or DH, then one child doesn't have to deal with it alone

AdventuresAwait · 25/09/2021 16:31

I agree @Scotti84. I also met my DH late in life and so we will only have one together.... I've always wanted to be a Mum and am so thankful to have one. It is so incredible, I still can't believe it. But I'm also slightly sad that I won't experience this again.

MrsTD88 · 25/09/2021 17:05

@Scotti84 I was the same after our first, I was determined to have a second. It took a long time and a lot of heartache but we got there in the end and are so lucky to now have two perfect little girls. I want to now enjoy them growing up and look to the future.

@AdventuresAwait so sorry lovely.

SillyBry · 25/09/2021 19:10

@Scotti84 that’s really nice! I always knew we would want a second - and that was fine. But I think I just went into this pregnancy knowing two would be enough. I didn’t mind being pregnant- kind of enjoyed it, beyond the aches and pains… but I’m quite happy for this to be the last round of nappies, sleepless nights etc!
But I also feel like I’m enjoying the baby time more second time around, maybe I’m more relaxed about it. And appreciating it more as I know it’s going to be the last!

FTEngineerM · 25/09/2021 19:19

@SillyBry @MrsTD88 saaaame, the snip is the only way now. We met and said we both wanted two, we now have two, I’m certainly not going through pregnancy again 😬 so it’s the only way.

@Noodles4Me that gives me confidence thanks, it feels awful when I stand up, like everything suddenly sags and stretches. I will be honest I just assumed this birth would be another vaginal one because the first was so didn’t read anything about caesareans. What a plonker because now I’m trying read up/ask midwife/have a newborn and a toddler which is nuts 😂. Toddler is partly ok and partly petrified of the baby. Yeah he dove head first into my scar this morning 😬 it was agony but he doesn’t understand yet so we just have to distract distract distract.

I don’t know about anyone else but there has been A LOT of tears here today; both me and DP feel really overwhelmed and I’m not sure if it’s a culmination of a really busy few months and burnout or purely related to postpartum ☹️. We’re only on day 2 (well day 1 of being home as a 4).

AdventuresAwait · 25/09/2021 22:02

Thank you @MrsTD88. I'm so thankful to be a Mum & I'm just going to cherish every minute. Yes I would love two but the sadness of that is trumped by the blessing of this beautiful baby girl so my heart is full! Xx

Jary6 · 26/09/2021 03:41

Hello everyone, come to join this group as Oliver was born 23.09.21 at 7lb 1oz. Can't tell you how relieved I am to not be pregnant anymore, so grateful to have such a beautiful baby but being pregnant is not something I enjoyed.
