Thanks! Just found the Joie Kubbie and tempted to try it. Not sure why I couldn't use it between the crib and cot as long as the mattress is decent ? I don't know!

AdventuresAwait · 30/12/2021 15:27

Also, @Scotti84, (me again!) I ordered the play mat you recommended. It came today and she loves it! Thanks! Xx

AdventuresAwait · 30/12/2021 15:50

It looks as though my other post didn't upload but also said that the monkey teether is great... just what I was looking for! Thanks @CherLW, it's being chewed on as I type xx

CherLW · 30/12/2021 16:43

@AdventuresAwait so glad it’s worked for her 💗. It’s the little arms on it, I think it’s great! He holds on and just chews on the head of it! I’ll definitely put some teething gel on it if needed too xx

Scotti84 · 30/12/2021 19:47

@AdventuresAwait thats great she likes the playmat, Lillys still not bored of it.

Mates sister thinks as long as you have a good mattress it should be fine. I think as baby is happy and sleeps well i cant see a problem.

Anyone elses baby grab their boob when feeding? Lilly hangs on for dear life, its bloomin painful 😅

AdventuresAwait · 30/12/2021 20:36

Me too @CherLW.

@Scotti84, thanks for asking her, I appreciate it. When feeding, she doesn't grab onto my boob but sometimes she really clamps her gums onto my nipple which can hurt, especially when she turns away, taking it with her!

AdventuresAwait · 30/12/2021 20:52

I'm reading lots of conflicting things about using travel cots for longer term. The definite thing seems to be to have a mattress that is suitable for every day use but going to look into it. She's OK in the crib at the moment, just trying to plan ahead so might see if the cot will fit in our room.

Scotti84 · 31/12/2021 09:54

Its so hard to know what to do and what not, ive ended up buying so much stuff that i either havent used or is already not needed anymore. MIL told me i should be changing Lilly on the floor now not on the changing table anymore as shes more mobile. I dont think thats necessary, i never leave her alone on it but its another thing i didnt think would only be needed for a few months.

Weve hit sleep regression here too... im bloody knackered. Awake and crying for food every 2 hours. Obviously hit exactly as ive got my period which has returned with a vengeance, making up for the last year i think 🤦‍♀️

AdventuresAwait · 31/12/2021 10:23

Yes it is hard to know @Scotti84! Think I'll just look for something other than a travel cot but smaller than a cot. But not sure there is anything so I don't quite know what to do for that short in between time!

Sorry to hear about the sleep and period. Waiting for both here. Seems like so long since I had a period! Not looking forward to it lol.

Bubbles1st · 31/12/2021 21:12

@AdventuresAwait you can get compact cots if that's what you need, they still have a lower and upper mattress height usually so one they are
Sitting up etc you can put them at the lower level. Mamas and papas do a good but basic one I saw when we were looking at options.

AdventuresAwait · 31/12/2021 22:09

Great thanks @Bubbles1st! I'll have a look xx

GWhiteley · 01/01/2022 09:13

I thought we'd hit the sleep regression as well as for the last week Alyssa has only slept for a max of 3 hrs in the night before waking starving every 2 hrs for a feed. However we're at my parents & last night she slept for 6 3/4 hrs! The longest ever! But I think it's cause her Moses basket is right next to the radiator here so she was warm & comfortable. The temperature definitely dips in the living room during the night. I'm going to see if my theory is right by moving the basket out some tonight & see if that's why

With regards to travel cots, Alyssa will be sleeping in it for 2 nights every week, has what you've read @AdventuresAwait indicate this wouldn't be a good idea?

AdventuresAwait · 01/01/2022 09:31

Hi @GWhiteley, what I read said they aren't designed for long term use as the mattresses aren't supportive enough. But people online said they use/ used them and just replaced the mattress with a better one. I'm going to read more about it xx

AdventuresAwait · 01/01/2022 16:17

@GWhiteley I just saw this on the Lullaby Trust website. Mostly I've read that it should have a decent mattress. And most can be replaced. I'm looking at one and found replacement mattresses online. You can't add one on top but it sounds like you can swap it for a thick one as long as its a good fit. Still looking at options as ours would be for a few months but it sounds like a maybe! Have you seen anything about it? Xx

AdventuresAwait · 01/01/2022 21:00

@GWhiteley just adding a photo with info for a Hauck 'sleep and play' travel cot which mentions use at home and a link to a Joie review which does the same. Just incase they're useful. If I do this option, I'll definitely buy a good mattress to replace the travel one xx

Kirky658 · 02/01/2022 17:27

Hi ladies, happy new year! FYI on the cots we have bought a hauck rocker dreamer crib and it is brilliant, Alice sleeps in it every night and it folds up too. Good mattress!

AdventuresAwait · 02/01/2022 17:37

Thanks @Kirky658! And Happy New Year xx

bluemagicalsky · 02/01/2022 17:49

@GWhiteley Hey. We use this cot due to space which is fairly small for a cot, comes with a good mattress and also has a handy drawer for storage. It also transitions to a small toddler bed. We and our baby get on really well with it. Not sure if it's bigger than what you'd want but thought I'd post it just in case www.manomano.co.uk/p/denise-cot-with-drawer-and-free-aloe-vera-mattress-variations-15318802?model_id=15318803

Scotti84 · 03/01/2022 08:35

Morning all! Lilly slept 7 hours last night! Thank god, i needed that! Couple of questions, what do you guys do in the night Re nappy changing? I used to be able to check her nappy and change it without her waking up but now shes wide awake as soon as shes on the changing table and sometimes its empty anyway, do you change them in the night or leave it til the Morning? Obviously only talking about wee here.

And is anyone using high chairs yet? Ive again, read conflicting info. Some say wait til 6 months, some say when she can hold her head, some say too soon will disform her spine? Really not sure what to do on this one.

AdventuresAwait · 03/01/2022 09:38

Yay @Scotti84 that's great!

We don't change her nappy until the morning now if it's just wee so she goes all night and is changed first thing when we get up.

No idea about high chairs sorry! But guess I'll need to know soon too so interested to hear what others are doing.

crobo87 · 03/01/2022 10:03

@Scotti84 I don't change Oscar at night. He generally goes down at 7 and wakes about 5 and never leaks.

I've started looking at highchairs, I think I'm going to get one that can recline slightly as I remember both my older 2 falling asleep in them regularly 🤣

AdventuresAwait · 03/01/2022 10:37

@Scotti84 it looks like our highchair is from 6 months. What about a Bumbo floor seat before a high chair? It says they're from 3 months. Not used ours yet but have it ready. It has a tray too which you can buy separately. My niece loved hers.

AdventuresAwait · 03/01/2022 14:16

@Scotti84 though there's also conflicting thoughts about bumbos too by the look of it!

Kirky658 · 03/01/2022 15:10

No overnight changing here either, Alice tends to only poo in the day so it's just a wet nappy.

We have a very greedy girl atm, Alice is on 7 oz bottles every 3 hours 🤣 but she's sleeping 11 hrs overnight so deffo can't complain.

DH back to work tomorrow, and my mum and brother tested positive for covid so no visiting them for me this week 😢

AdventuresAwait · 03/01/2022 16:03

The long sleep is so lovely isn't it @Kirky658!

Sorry to hear you can't visit your family. I had covid too and was the same. Hope they're not feeling too bad with it. My DH goes back to work tomorrow too. I've really enjoyed having him at home. But will get back into our routine at home.
