@CherLW hi! Just been looking through the thread as not been on here for a while & saw your question about hair loss - I've definitely noticed an increase in hair loss over the last couple of weeks. More so when I wash it but my brush is full constantly! I've been wearing my hair up for months as it just gets on my nerves when it's down but it still manages to come out!

How's everyone doing?

GWhiteley · 22/12/2021 08:18

@Kirky658 yes I struggle with Alyssa for every nap to be honest. We both know she's tired but she fights it! The only time she does nap properly is when she's out in the pram, then she can sleep for a couple of hrs easily.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get her to go down more easily?

CherLW · 22/12/2021 08:19

@GWhiteley lovely to hear from you! How you doing?
My hair is now always up as I can’t stand all the hair!! I keep it in a plait at night and then up in a bun or clip all day. I hope it stops soon!!
Other than that we’re doing well! Jesse had his 16 week jabs yesterday so that’s him done until he’s 1!! Crazy!! This time last year is the day I found out I was pregnant with him!! 💙

GWhiteley · 22/12/2021 10:10

@CherLW we're ok generally. Alyssa is having her jabs after the new year as each time she's been really unsettled & didn't want her unhappy over Xmas.
I think she's starting her 4 month regression as last night she didn't seem in a deep sleep as much & moved around a lot. Since she's been born it's only been the last month where she's slept longer than 2 hrs in the night between feeds, I'm not looking forward to her potentially going backwards!
Me & her dad are a bit rocky at the mo. Me & Alyssa currently sleep downstairs as he's a very light sleeper & her crying in the night wakes him up. But it's getting less & less ideal as she has no bedtime routine & invariably doesn't fall asleep before 9pm. He's unhappy with the thought of us being next door but I need to do what's best for her. Me sleeping on the sofa is getting harder every night & we seem to have no real relationship. He's hardly here, and when he is spends very little time with her, doesn't change any nappies or help in any way really. I'm solely breastfeeding as although she was having 2 bottles a day from 3 weeks old she suddenly decided she didn't want them anymore & screams when one is out near her. Just don't feel like I have any support from him at all. Sorry to rant - needed to get it off my chest!

CherLW · 22/12/2021 10:33

@GWhiteley don’t apologise, this group has always been the place to rant and it always will be. Sorry to hear you don’t feel like you have the support there for you, it’s so hard isn’t it when you feel you’re doing everything with no help. Do you have any help from others?
About the bedtime routine.. Jesse doesn’t have one either, I just go by what he wants really.. he’s mostly in bed asleep by 9-9:30.. he’s still sleeping in my bed and most of the time being fed go sleep. I’m still exclusively BF him too.. I try to just take each day as it comes most of the time. I’m also trying to pretend the 4 month sleep regression doesn’t exist 😂.
I know eventually he will need more routine but he’s doing well, has 3 naps a day and just feeds when he wants too.
I really hope you’re doing ok and have some friends or family to reach out to also xx

GWhiteley · 22/12/2021 10:45

@CherLW hearing Jesse also doesn't have a routine really makes me feel better! I so worry about whether I'm doing the right things for her!
I'm really lucky that my husbands mum comes round twice a week & currently takes her out for a walk for a couple of hrs each time & I go to my parents 40 mins away every Fri & sat so I can sleep in a bed & they get quality time with her. At home I sleep on the sofa.
I try to make her last a couple of hrs between feeds, but if she gets grissly then of course I feed her. She's not good at napping in the day, but eventually succumbs. Thanks for listening, my family & a couple of close friends know the situation but I feel like they want me to leave & im currently not sure that's what's best for Alyssa as she'd get even less time with him than she does now.
So glad you're doing ok though, so you get support when you need it, how is Jesse's dad getting on with him? xx

CherLW · 22/12/2021 10:59

@GWhiteley I worry that he should be but I know eventually he will have a routine. It’s just working doing what suits him at the moment.. also things like feeding him to sleep make life easier for me but I know people say that’s not a good ‘habit’ but it works so I go with it.
That’s good you have the support from others, it’s so important to have the people there when you need them. It must be horrible sleeping on the sofa.. especially when you aren’t getting a full nights sleep as it is!

Jesse’s dad and I are getting on a lot better which is good as it was all to much before but I think now Jesse’s here his dad knows what’s going on etc and that he can see him.
He sees him twice a week most of the time but he just plays with Jesse and things but doesn’t do or even think of the other things like nappies or asking if I ever wanted help hanging up washing and things but I have to let that go over my head.

CherLW · 22/12/2021 11:00

@GWhiteley it’s hard not to worry isn’t it as I feel I’m not doing the right things for him but I think as long as it’s working and he’s happy then I’m happy 😊 xx

GWhiteley · 22/12/2021 11:29

@CherLW they say as long as baby is happy that's the most important thing, so that's what I try to concentrate on!
I'm glad your relationship with him is better, my husband is basically the same when it comes to what he does, except he does cook & wash up. Wouldn't dream of giving her a bath or changing a nappy though!
Sleeping on the sofa is hard, but I'm hoping we'll move upstairs after Xmas as she's not getting enough sleep at the mo I don't think.
Do you have some support?

CherLW · 22/12/2021 12:25

@GWhiteley that’s definitely the best thing to concentrate on.. I think if he was suddenly not coping well or upset I would change some things.
I sometimes think I’m better on my own as he doesn’t annoy me as much 😂

I hope you can move upstairs or at least to a real bed very soon as it’s not good for you and Alyssa probably gets a bit unsettled as you’re not settled.

I get Support from my mum, dad and their partners and Jesse’s dads family is very supportive too. I’ve not really had any time away from Jesse yet.. I can’t even think what a night out would be like!! I don’t want to express yet so happy staying with him for the time being 😊 xx

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 12:44

Hi @GWhiteley and @CherLW, just wanted to say that Hettie doesn't really have a routine either. She goes to bed at 8-9pm and then has a feed between 5 and 6 & sleeps again until 9.30am. Other than that she just feeds, sleeps and plays in the day when she needs to. Mostly sleeps on me in the day. I'm not worried as she won't always need to and she's still so young. Feeds are usually between 2 and 3 hours in the day but I just feed whenever she needs it. We'll get into a routine soon enough! She's happy so I'm happy : )

16 weeks vaccinations after Christmas. Christmas is looking different from the family day we had planned as my husband has covid 😒

CherLW · 22/12/2021 12:55

@AdventuresAwait noooo so sorry to hear about your husband 😞 it’s horrible isn’t it, so much going round at an already busy time of year for illness. I hope you have a lovely day with your little bubble tho ❤️
I’m waiting the results from my PCR test I had yesterday as I have a cough.. I’m really hoping it’s not covid!

I think what we’re doing is good, just go with what the babies want and if they are happy that’s the main thing. Someone said to me the other day you don’t see older kids and adults walking round needing food to sleep or adults with dummies etc so it won’t be forever.. just do what works 😊

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 13:00

Exactly @CherLW!

Yeah thanks, husband is a teacher. He's gone all this time without covid, finished on Friday. Tested every day and got a positive on Monday. Can't believe it. So disappointed I can't see my family. It is the 3rd year we can't see them (1st wasn't due to covid but I was overseas and couldn't get back) so I'm sad but I'm so grateful that my husband is relatively well with it and, like you said, I have this wonderful little one to spend the day with which I still cannot believe!

CherLW · 22/12/2021 13:05

@AdventuresAwait it’s gutting isn’t it 😞 can you have a little late Xmas get together maybe? I was worried that it my test is positive it’s just me and Jesse all of Xmas for 10 days but then I thought he’s great so will be lovely… I’m just hoping it’s negative!
My brothers wife was the same… school teacher, broke up and then boom has covid and has to isolate to 28th!

Im the same as you, I can’t believe I have this little one with me all the time.. I get so emotional thinking how amazing he is and any imagine life without him 💙

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 13:38

@CherLW yes we're hoping to have a late get together as it's only 7 days isolation now as the rules changed today. So if he has negative lateral flows on Saturday and Sunday, we can travel on Monday.

I feel the same! I look at her every day and just feel so incredibly lucky. I love her so much xx

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 13:44

Really hoping yours is negative @CherLW! When did you take the PCR? Xx

CherLW · 22/12/2021 13:47

@AdventuresAwait I had it yesterday at a drive through test centre.. they said today I should hear back 🤞🏼.

I just heard the rules have changed! Hoping that helps a few people out with their Christmas plans ❤️

CherLW · 22/12/2021 16:02

Woo Negative!!

Covid is the only time I’ve been excited for a negative test!!

GWhiteley · 22/12/2021 17:11

@AdventuresAwait so sorry to hear about your husbands positive test, that must be so disappointing for you.

So glad I'm not on my own with the routine thing! Although I have told my husband she needs to go to bed earlier than she is as sometimes it's 10pm but she's shattered way before then & grisly because of it. Hopefully after Xmas we'll try us sleeping upstairs. I'll actually get to sleep in a bed full time!!

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 18:04

Yay @CherLW, so pleased for you!

Thanks @GWhiteley, it's really disappointing but at least we are all OK. Good idea about sleeping upstairs.

I can't believe how quickly the months are passing and how much she is changing! She'll be 4 months next Sunday. Can't believe it.

Sillysocks998 · 22/12/2021 19:32

Hi ladies
I hope your well. Just a bit of advice. Has anyone thought their lo has a milk allergy and if so have you tried an alternative milk? If so what? AJ comes out in a rash, it looks like heat rash and eczema everytime he drinks milk. I don't know it could be eczema. We do have a cat too.
Not sure what to do. But I get depressed every time I see it more and more. Any advice anyone?

GWhiteley · 22/12/2021 19:44

Yay @CherLW! Such good news!

General question for everyone - I want to get Alyssa some toys, what sorts of things do you have? She's got a captain calamari sensory toy & a rattle but think she's getting bored with those

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 20:10

@GWhiteley, Hettie loves the lamaze Freddie the Firefly and the Tiny Love Tummy Time toy. We have also got her the VTech Lights and Stripes Zebra but it's for Christmas so I can't comment on that yet! The first two are the ones she plays smiles/laughs at most but I'll have a look and send some more that she likes. Mostly she loves looking at pictures or books. She has a book that stands next to her as she lays on her front or back & she loves it. It's the Taf Toys Kimmy Koala Tummy time book.

AdventuresAwait · 22/12/2021 22:28

@GWhiteley, this is a very old Fisher Price toy but our little one loves it! It spins with just a little touch which is great and she can also (I think accidentally) touch & move the things on the sides.
