@Kirky658 daytime naps only on me as well! She sleeps well in the bedside cot at night but no matter how deep the sleep appears in the day as soon as I put her down she'll be awake within minutes! I know if I hold her in the afternoon I get a good couple of hours of both cuddles and reading my book / watching Netflix 🤣

bewitchingnight · 20/11/2021 13:55

Does anyone have experience of allergies? We got referred to the paediatricians this week because they suspect a cows milk allergy - have to cut out dairy for 8 weeks to see if that helps.

AdventuresAwait · 20/11/2021 15:20

I looked on the website @Suma2021 and I didn't see the same one but the one I read had me in tears too.. and it does each time I read it! It talks about us being their world and all they see at the moment but it won't always be this way. And how we may feel we're not doing things right etc but they do simply see us as their world.

And yes it's lovely when they look at you so intently and the first smile was just amazing x

unicornpower · 20/11/2021 20:21

Was it this one girls? Because I sob every time I read it!

@unicornpower well that just made me sob 😭😭

bewitchingnight · 20/11/2021 21:01

Don't mind me just having a little cry about that

Clouless · 20/11/2021 21:12

Well now I'm crying while feeding my baby!

AdventuresAwait · 20/11/2021 21:39

Yes @unicornpower... that's the one! I cry every time.

unicornpower · 20/11/2021 22:13

Whoops sorry ladies! It’s a beautiful piece though I think! It made me feel so loved.

How is everyone! Billie has started majorly smiling at us which is AMAZING. It’s my favourite thing in the world! She’s still not anywhere near sleeping through but we manage

RadDarwazeh · 20/11/2021 23:25

@unicornpower yay for baby smiles they are the best. My Eli smiles every few days I think right now. Love it.

Also seconding tummy time on chest is easier.

The poem was beautiful. I adored reading it thank you for posting 💕

My boys 8 week immunisations are closer to ten weeks annoyingly as the nurse who does them only works once a week.

What happens at the 8 week gp check up coz I have that next week?

AdventuresAwait · 20/11/2021 23:31

Yes it is beautiful. The words are so lovely and it makes me feel loved too @unicornpower.

Doing OK here, I agree that's it is amazing to see our little one smile! I can't wait to hear her laugh now.

We've got the second lot of immunisations next week so hoping she won't be too unsettled afterwards, bless her.

It is lovely to see her growing and changing. We have been looking back at newborn photos today and cannot believe the difference & how she has grown!

AdventuresAwait · 20/11/2021 23:38

Hi @RadDarwazeh, I didn't see your post before sending mine. At the 8 week check, the doctor listened to her heart, looked at her eyes and in her mouth, checked her hips, got her to smile, asked us how feeding was going.. trying to remember what else! There's a list in the red book that they fill in so you can see the headings in there which might help to know what to expect. It didn't take too long and then we had the vaccinationa straight after.

unicornpower · 21/11/2021 02:22

@RadDarwazeh yes mine was pretty much the same as @AdventuresAwait they checked me over too (barely but just asked how I was feeling) did baby’s head circumference and weight, I think they checked her hips too! Tbh because we went straight for vaccinations after and Bills was so upset I kind of forgot the first bit.

@adventuresawait I hope your little one isn’t too affected by them this time, was she last time? Billie was out of sorts for a few days so I’m hoping this set isn’t as rough for them!

AdventuresAwait · 21/11/2021 05:34

@unicornpower, @RadDarwazeh, they didn't do measurements at ours and I was hoping she'd be weighed again as no further appointments until 10 months but it wasn't even mentioned. Anyone else weigh baby themselves at home? I know she's definitely putting on weight (& everyone comments on it lol!) but I still like that reassurance!

@unicornpower, Hettie wasn't too with the first vaccinations. She settled quickly with a feed at the appointment but was quite unsettled for a few hours later on the same day which was horrible but fairly short lived so I'm hoping she'll be OK. Not looking forward to it but hoping she settles quickly at the appointment again and is better afterwards. I heard that often the second ones don't affect them as much so hoping that's the case.

I'm enjoying looking at toys for Christmas that she can use in the next few months. Anyone got any recommendations of things their babies or older siblings enjoyed in their first year? Xx

Kirky658 · 21/11/2021 17:18

@unicornpower omg sobbing here 😭 having a bad day with the PND and emotions are running high anyway lol. We've found that Alice naps in the day if we put her in her swinging chair so long may that continue!!

Noodles4Me · 21/11/2021 17:44

@AdventuresAwait we have second set of jabs this week too. Apparently they don't feel as rough with this one. Fingers crossed.

I'm also going back on implant. Can't risk a 2nd pregnancy until the boy is 10/11 months due C Section. But I'm 40 now so can't wait much longer after that!! (Or we get a dog instead!)

Kirky658 · 21/11/2021 17:54

@Noodles4Me @adventuresawait Alice was a bit wimpy after her second jabs. Slept and cried quite a bit. Has her 16 wk ones on 1st, dreading it as they are the ones that can make them get a fever apparently as they've already had the first menb vaccine 😣

I didn't know you were supposed to wait till 11 months post c section to get pregnant again! I'm on pop pill but I am considering the implant tbh for reliability reasons.

Newmum110 · 22/11/2021 11:38

@AdventuresAwait no more weigh ins from my doctor so I pop on the scales weigh myself & then weigh myself with baby in my arms, seems accurate as I compared it when he was weighed properly.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cradle cap? It's not too bad so far but obviously don't want it to get worse....

KHR1 · 22/11/2021 20:13

@Newmum110 at our 8 week appointment Zach doctor recommended coconut oil, seems to be working okay on the cradle cap, I'm just a bit rubbish at remembering to use it often.

With head control, Zach can lift his head well if you hold him up like over your shoulder or if he's sat up on someone but when on his tummy he just tries to lick the floor...

Newmum110 · 22/11/2021 20:47

Thanks @KHR1, will try that

crobo87 · 22/11/2021 20:55

@KHR1 Oscar seems to have a new obsession with licking things. Anything that goes close to his mouth he licks 😂

Scotti84 · 24/11/2021 15:52

@KHR1 @crobo87 got a licker over here too, or a sucker, she opens her mouth like when she feeds and whatever she can reach goes in. If its a bit cold ill snuggle with her under a blanket on the sofa and she started turning her head away from me, I was a bit miffed til i realised its because shes practically hoovering the blanket in her mouth and having a good old lick of it.

We had our first back to tummy roll over today, middle in a nappy change, fortunately not a messy one. This is going to be fun...

@AdventuresAwait ive got a few things for xmas for her, not that she'll know whats going on, but well its more for me really. Rattles and teething toys, and a play station thats ok from 4 months, its got a bouncy chair in the middle and toys on a circular table round it, and when she's older it converts into a normal table. Theres so many things i want to get but she's still too young for most of it. Ill have to wait til easter!

KHR1 · 25/11/2021 08:02

@crobo87 @Scotti84 half its not just Zach that's obsessed with licking things 😂 I've had to start tying my hair back when I burp him as he tries to eat it
The rolling is exciting! I don't know why but I had it in my head that was still a while off but maybe not

Kirky658 · 25/11/2021 19:00

@scotti84 congrats on the rolling!!!

I'm having a really difficult time at the moment.. I'm under the parent and baby unit and having counselling and starting new therapy to process the birth trauma but I'm such a mess.. I'm. So. Sad constantly. And just feel like I can't be a good mum 😭
