**Was not wax!

Kirky658 · 09/11/2021 20:39

Alice gets up with us at 6am for a feed, then wants to be fed again around 9am. Tends to doze till lunchtime - but only if she's cuddled. Fed again around 12, sleeps till 3 ish, feed again and again at 6. Evening colic fun begins and fussiness unless she's being cuddled. Give a bath around 2130 on bath nights, ideally bed for 2215 and sleeps through till about 0530. Very lucky really! However she is driving me MAD at the moment. She was weighed yesterday by the HV and she is now 10lb 12 oz! She is constantly wanting to eat every 2 hrs though, HV says a growth spurt but my god it is hard work!!!

Scotti84 · 14/11/2021 11:21

Morning all, hope everyone's OK! Anyone elses bub started sleeping about 8 or 9.hours without a feed? Our Dr had said we shouldn't wake her if shes happy enough sleeping through, and she puts a fair bit away before she sleeps but I do worry now that it's too long too soon?

Also is it possible that a 2.5 month old (nearly) could be teething? She's slavering everywhere and biting DHs hands, and on one side of her lower gums it is hard and looks whiter than the rest. Isn't that too soon? My little Lilly is growing too fast!

AdventuresAwait · 14/11/2021 13:02

Hi @Scotti84, yes my little one has gone 8 hours this week! She's 10 weeks now. It's not every night but she has done 7-8 hours a few times and it always surprises me when I look at the time. She's not super hungry either afterwards. Didn't expect her to go so long at night as she's still feeding every 2 to 3 hours during the day. No idea about the teething though, sorry xx

AdventuresAwait · 14/11/2021 13:03

@Scotti84... also agree about the growing too fast! Can't believe it.

crobo87 · 14/11/2021 14:03

@Scotti84 Oscar goes 10-6 most nights now. He's 10 weeks x

Squibble84 · 14/11/2021 19:47

I wish! 3 hours is the longest we’ve had and some nights its hourly! My first didn’t do long stints until she was about 9 months so I’m expecting the same again unfortunately! 😭 between Leo and my teething 2 year old, I’m averaging about 4 hours sleep a night, it’s brutal!

unicornpower · 14/11/2021 22:04

@Squibble84 same here!! We’ve digressed back to a maximum of two hours per stint at night but last night was every hour! I feel your pain love! She used to do 4/5 hours so I’m hoping she kickstarts it again!

bewitchingnight · 15/11/2021 14:00

@Squibble84 @unicornpower same here ladies! 3 hours is her longest ever sleep at night and in the day she's feeding every 1.5-2 hours. I am jealous of all your babies sleeping long stretches... If she slept even 4 hours I think I'd wake up every 20 minutes in shock!

@Scotti84 I was wondering about teething too, lots of chewing all of a sudden but seems so early for all of that!

Noodles4Me · 15/11/2021 16:24

@bewitchingnight @Scotti84 it could be teething. We started here at 9 weeks. Sad He's got a little tooth eruption and lots of dribbles, chewing everything and red cheeks!

SillyBry · 15/11/2021 21:27

@Scotti84 Rosie was sleeping from 11 til 7ish most nights at 7/8 weeks.. it was amazing! Sadly, since having her 8 week jabs, she's been waking for a feed in the night... generally around 3am. I don't know if it's the jabs, a growth spurt or the fact she was cluster feeding all evening and now she goes to bed upstairs at 7ish and doesn't cluster feed all evening!
I don't wake her to feed - unless my boobs are busting, then sometimes I just have to grab her when I hear her stir!!

Scotti84 · 16/11/2021 17:09

Thanks ladies! Theyre all so different arent they but good to know its not she's not the only one sleeping longer.

We had a photographer over this morning, I wanted some proper photos to send to my family in England for xmas, I think we got about 5 photos with a laugh! As soon as the camera was up, she raised her eyebrow and did her sceptic face, the photographer looked away and Lilly started to laugh! Cant wait to see what we end up with! She did have a scream about halfway through when she was having photos with DH, ive requested one of those 😅

Kirky658 · 16/11/2021 17:28

@scotti84 I think Alice might be teething at 14 weeks. She's so unsettled for no apparent reason, putting hands In her mouth a lot and screaming the place down, nothing calms her. It's a handful at the moment!!!

Kirky658 · 18/11/2021 11:03

Hi ladies. I'm finding Alice will not nap in the day unless it's on me. As soon as I put her down once she's asleep she wakes right away. Anyone else!???

Scotti84 · 18/11/2021 13:49

@Kirky658 see photo 😅

She's started sleeping from about 1 - 3pm but only on me. If i have her in the sling she'll sleep too but as soon as I try and lay her in her cot in our room or in a net on the sofa, she's awake. This is now my Netflix time!

Babies due September 2021
AdventuresAwait · 18/11/2021 14:12

Hi all. Hope you're well and your little ones are good. Just wondered if anyone has ideas for helping with developing head control? My little one does enjoy tummy time but doesn't seem to be lifting her head much anymore and I keep reading that she would be starting to hold her head up. She is 11 weeks today - are others holding their heads up? I know she'll do it in her own time but don't want to be missing something I could or should be doing to help her! We do tummy time within our play and have some toys that she loves so it isn't that she doesn't like being on her tummy. Anyone else? Xx

Kirky658 · 18/11/2021 14:45

@scotti84 glad it's not just me!!! She looks so peaceful bless her.
@adventuresawait Alice is 14 weeks now and has strong head control. I find though that she prefers tummy time on my chest rather than on the floor x

AdventuresAwait · 18/11/2021 14:56

@Kirky658, also got a little one asleep on me as I type!
Thanks for your reply about Alice's head control. It's started here but definitely not strong. She lifts it more when laying on my chest and turns it side to side when laying on her a mat but not holding it up yet when laying.

crobo87 · 18/11/2021 16:23

@Kirky658 Oscar has been the same lately. Hardly sleeps if he's not in me or in the sling.
He's in a leap though so im not sure if that's part of it. Im just going with it for now.

@AdventuresAwait Oscar doesn't have very good head control yet. He's 10 weeks.
Doctor picked it up at his 8 week check and said he had 'head lag' but also said he has a big head so that may mean his muscles need to be stronger so may take a bit longer also he was premature so that could also put a slight delay on it.
He does hold his head up when he's up on my shoulder to wind him. I'm just trying to do lots of tummy time when he allows 🤣

Scotti84 · 18/11/2021 17:03

@AdventuresAwait Lillys 11 weeks today too, she holds her head when i hold her straight or carry her around but she doesn't lift it much in tummy time, if shes laying on me she will do it more, to look at me. Anybodys babies starting to roll over? That should be soon shouldnt it?

AdventuresAwait · 18/11/2021 17:45

Thank you @crobo87. Yes going to try to fit a bit more in here too. Luckily she does like it most times!

Thanks@Scotti84. That sounds pretty similar actually as she'll hold her head when I'm carrying her or she's on my chest. Maybe on the mat just takes a bit longer.

No rolling yet but I read that it might be soon! Apparently it's usually when they're on their tummy. They push up on their arms and roll over I think. Think we've got a while until that happens here!

It really helps to talk things through and share experiences. Thanks for your replies.

Scotti84 · 20/11/2021 08:36

I'm so happy there's still a few of us posting. There's still no in person groups or anything over here and most of my friends don't have children so I'd be pretty alone without you guys! How sad does that sound 😅 I do have the MIL and sister in law, but their answer is 'give Lilly to me' or that that's not how she did it etc... its so valuable to have ppl with children the same age that are in the same boat.

@AdventuresAwait in tummy time yesterday Lilly put her head sideways on the mat and just laid there with a look on her face like 'really? This again?" 😆

AdventuresAwait · 20/11/2021 09:26

I feel the same @Scotti84. I don't know many people here and definitely not with young babies. Glad that a few are still on here.

Your tummy time yesterday sounds a bit like ours!

But she did start to reach for toys yesterday which was nice as I've been worrying about that. Text my sister asking if I'll always worry about little one, and she said yes, at every stage there'll be worries! (Plus I'm a worrier anyway).

But aren't babies amazing? The development fascinates me. I read really moving words about Mums written through the eyes of a baby yesterday. It said how we are their whole world at the moment. Was lovely and I feel so lucky to be her Mum.

How's it been 11 weeks already though??

Suma2021 · 20/11/2021 11:52

@Scotti84 I'm still reading all the posts on here, it doesn't sound sad what you say. I'm not brave enough to head to any baby groups just yet, and my husband is fully back at work now - things can feel lonely from time to time! It's reassuring to read others experiences of things.

I'm a few weeks behind you all, Robbie is 6 weeks now! Experienced the joys of a blocked duct and mastitis the other day, had no idea it could make you feel so ill! Thankfully all cleared up now. We've tried Tummy Time but he just starts screaming so isn't much of a fan unless it's on our chest, but then has a tendency to almost knock my teeth out by swinging his head around Grin.

@AdventuresAwait the development part fascinates me too! I love noticing little changes in the noises he makes, and how he's really started to "look" at me properly, smile and make all his funny facial expressions, use his hands more... He's a very noisy little lad in general, I never knew babies could make so much noise 😅

This is sad though - my husband and I read this article written from the baby's perspective where the baby explains normal newborn behaviour (on leakyboob.com - not sure if this is the same one as you @adventuresawait ?). OK so, it's really corny but we still sat there in tears after reading it 🙈
