@AdventuresAwait we're getting sounds like eurgh, meh, umm, etc and we had an ey, which being originally from Yorkshire ive told my german husband that counts as her first word 😅

AdventuresAwait · 11/10/2021 21:11

🤣 @Scotti84! Thanks for sharing x

SillyBry · 11/10/2021 21:38

@Scotti84 @Kirky658 I had this last night. Rosie slept from 11 and I woke at 4am going “shiiiiiiit, she’s not woken!” I was then paranoid something was wrong… but actually, I think we just have to take the good sleeps as a bonus! 😊

unicornpower · 11/10/2021 21:50

What are these long sleeping secrets?! Billie has decided she’s now allergic to sleep, I’m hoping she reverts back sharpish as last night was hell! She was awake between 1-4.45 and didn’t really settle. We can give her gripe water now so I’m hoping it’s an improvement on the colic.

Scotti84 · 12/10/2021 11:41

Just had a midwife visit, she said Lilly has a bit of a cold but nothing to worry about, that could explain why shes sleeping more and the night grunting is because she spends more time laying at night than in the day so the phlegm accumulates a bit more. Makes perfect sense! She said we can prop her a bit on her side at night, not completely but with a blanket under one side a bit that it will clear a bit easier and we should only worry if her temp goes over 38 degrees.

KHR1 · 12/10/2021 14:19

Has anyone been told their 6 week postpartum/baby check will be on the phone?
I don't understand how they can do a 'thorough' check of baby, or check baby at all over the phone? I'm also supposed to get my blood pressure checked too but the receptionist wasn't interested. The doctors surgery is open to patients now so don't understand why we can't go in for it

crobo87 · 12/10/2021 15:01

@KHR1 ours here is done at 8 weeks and they have their first vaccinations at the same time. No idea why it's changed from 6 weeks to 8 weeks....I'd ring back and demand to be seen in person & request to speak to someone else if the receptionist is no help x

AdventuresAwait · 12/10/2021 15:24

@KHR1, our 6 week GP baby check is being combined with the 8 week immunisations so both appointments are at the same time to reduce visits to the surgery. So just a bit later, though we had the Health Visitor 6 week baby check yesterday.
My 6 week check is apparently over the phone but I've not heard anything. Maybe they'll also do it at the 8 week baby appointment? Xx

Kirky658 · 12/10/2021 17:06

@unicornpower I spoke too soon as Alice was up at 2am again last night. She is being such a nightmare today, won't stop screaming and is being sick after every feed. And is constipated again. So looks like the carobel isn't helping with the reflux. My parents think she's got wind so I've got some infacol and hoping that will help as I'm at my wits end!!!

@khr1 it's meant to be a full head to toe physical so that makes no sense!

Squibble84 · 12/10/2021 18:16

I’ve not heard about the 6 week check, I was going to ring on Friday if I hadn’t heard anything as Leo is 6 weeks on Sunday.

Has anyone not had the heel prick tests results back yet? I had them back much quicker with DD1!

Kirky658 · 12/10/2021 18:52

@squibble84 got Alice's results about 2 weeks after. Nurse said that if there was a problem you'd hear within a few days xx

AdventuresAwait · 12/10/2021 19:18

@Squibble84, they told me the results would come in the post after approx 5 to 6 weeks but we'd be contacted earlier if needed. I haven't had our results yet and baby is 6 weeks on Thursday.

MrsTD88 · 12/10/2021 20:26

@Squibble84 I have to phone GP to book 6 week check nearer the time.

Our health visitor told us last week that Orlaith's heel prick results were all fine. We haven't had any paperwork to that effect yet though.

Noodles4Me · 12/10/2021 20:50

Had my post natal check over phone. Which is crazy really. How can they tell I'm ready to exercise or not. Had the contraception lecture again though Confused

Baby will get another thorough check at his 8/9 week appointment .

unicornpower · 13/10/2021 02:33

@Kirky658 oh no I’m sorry! Have you tried gripe water for wind? It’s made the world of difference to Billie! She got in with infacol but once they’re 4 weeks they can have gripe water. Hopefully he picks up soon! It’s horrible when they’re uncomfortable. A nice warm bath soothes Bills too.

@KHR1 I don’t get it either! We hardly get any in person HV either ‘cus of Covid’ or high in running out of patience with as an excuse tbh! It’s so irritating as I want to actually see someone! I think ours are merging the 6 week check and the 8 week vaccines so everything is at 8 weeks but I’m dying to exercise again so it’s dragging!

Bubbles1st · 13/10/2021 08:16

Does everyone breastfeeding give vitamin d religiously?

After a few rough nights I skipped it last night and now wonder if it's been upsetting babes tummy.

Anyone else think you have side effects?

Or not giving it at all?

FTEngineerM · 13/10/2021 08:30

I haven’t given it at all yet 🤷🏽‍♀️👀

OP posts:
Squibble84 · 13/10/2021 08:32

Mine is still in the cupboard sealed in its packet! 🙈

AdventuresAwait · 13/10/2021 08:55

@Bubbles1st, I give it most days (when I remember 😊) and haven't noticed side effects but will make a note now and let you know if so. Thinking about it, she was unsettled after it last night but not sure if that's coincidence? Especially as she is currently in Leap 1 so think it is that. Will make a note today.
HV mentioned both of us taking it but not sure how essential it is? Will look into it.

CherLW · 13/10/2021 10:02

Hey ladies, hope everyone is ok! I’ve got my 6-8 week check with HV this morning over the phone!! I dont understand how she can check whilst it being on the phone! Jesse and I have a GP appointment in 2 weeks for his first jabs 😭.

@Kirky658 sorry to hear about Alice being poorly.. Jesse has wind and it’s horrible. I tried infacol and it didn’t work for him but now I’m using gripe water… mainly just dip his dummy in and he likes that snd seems to be helping.

@KHR1 saw a while back you mentioned snout cradle cap… Jesse has a little and I’ve been using coconut oil on it, i got it from boots in a purple pot. It seems you can just rub it off gently but his isn’t too bad.

I’ve taken Jesse to see an osteopath twice now for his wind and I think it’s working! Strange but I got to the point I had to give it a go as I was going mad!!

KHR1 · 13/10/2021 11:45

Thanks for all the replies about the 6 week check! Although it means waiting a little longer, combining it with the vaccinations seems like a good idea. I'm glad everyone has backed up what I was thinking about it needing to be in person because there seems to be very little they can do for a baby I've the phone. I don't understand why they are trying to avoid it when the surgery is open and I know some areas aren't, but all my midwife appointment bar the booking and the health visits have been in person. We've been very lucky round here that they've kept things like that going. I'm going to rig up and ask to change it. I don't mind mine being over the phone if it needs to be but baby's is a different matter!

@Squibble84 we got our result letter about 3-4 weeks after the test

@CherLW thank you! I don't know if it's the start of very mild cradle cap or just dry skin as it doesn't seem to have progressed but will have a look for some of the coconut oil

KHR1 · 13/10/2021 11:56

So I rung up and today's receptionist explained that my doctors is also doing the physical examination of baby with the vaccinations but they do the phone call first. Would have been helpful if the person clarified that yesterday...

Scotti84 · 13/10/2021 14:54

Does anyone use baby carriers? Completely forgotten the proper English word for it, but the ones where you strap them to your front. Ive got one but are they supposed to sit so close to you? Probably over worrying again but how does the poor thing breathe? Or is the point that they are close?

FTEngineerM · 13/10/2021 15:15

They’re meant to be close @Scotti84 I’m not sure if you’re on Facebook but join baby wearing U.K. to get a fit check

www.facebook.com/groups/392468534286432/?ref=share

I use a stretchy sling, which one have you got?

OP posts:
crobo87 · 13/10/2021 15:44

Yes they are meant to sit very close. I've got a sling, I never used any kind of carrier with my older 2 but I'm enjoying using one this time. Especially as Oscar can be very unsettled with his reflux so it means I can get stuff done with him in the sling and he tends to settle well in there
