@scotti84 @bewitchingnight thanks. I've rung 111 as her tummy is swollen and she's projectile vomiting yellow sick now 😢

KHR1 · 10/10/2021 15:13

Hope Alice is okay @Kirky658

Jary6 · 10/10/2021 15:24

@KHR1 I've pumped a few times now just for ease and at the rate I'm producing milk I find I can easily express 1 feed in 10 mins and so I've been buying the bottles that are pre-sterilised and then the pre-sterilised teats and if I'm out and about I then can express and have to hand when convenient. Saves all the sterilising however I'm pretty sure you can sterilise with boiling water or you can get microwave sterilisers depending on what you have access to.

bewitchingnight · 10/10/2021 15:38

Oh bless hope she is ok @Kirky658

Newmum110 · 10/10/2021 15:54

Thanks for the advice, taking a break from the socks today but will put them back on tonight, better safe than sorry x

MrsTD88 · 10/10/2021 17:53

@Kirky658 I hope Alice is okay? And you?

Scotti84 · 10/10/2021 18:17

@Kirky658 oh poor Alice, that doesn't sound pleasant. Hope she's OK, and you are too x

KHR1 · 10/10/2021 20:10

Thanks @Jary6 my supply is so up and down, some times I can pump 6oz in half an hour other times barely 2oz (double pump). I could take the pump with me already sterilised in a microwave bag but once I've used it I'm a bit stuck, unless I took a manual pump with me too but not sure how I feel about trying to find somewhere private to use it

AdventuresAwait · 10/10/2021 20:35

Hoping Alice is okay @Kirky658 xx

For those talking about noises babies make when sleeping, the 'What to Expect' app has an article about it today!

SillyBry · 10/10/2021 20:42

@KHR1 presumably you just want to pump to relieve yourself/not get engorged? If so, I wouldn’t worry about sterilising - I would just pump and dump enough that you don’t feel uncomfortable and big. If you aren’t somewhere you can pump, perhaps just hand express/relieve yourself where you can?

@Kirky658 I hope Alice is ok! I remember my first going from pooing multiple times a day to going about 6 days with no poo around 5/6 weeks. The health visitor said it’s really normal. But projectile vomit sounds a lot less fun - poor love!

@Sophieandtiger sharing a room with a baby is like sharing a room with a pig… Rosie grunts and groans like a pig half of the night. I think it’s quite normal as I remember by first doing it too!

KHR1 · 10/10/2021 22:23

@SillyBry yes and to try and keep my supply going. Pump and dump might be the easier option and just use more formula that day/the day after, thank you

SillyBry · 10/10/2021 22:36

@KHR1 I would pump and dump… it’s disappointing pouring milk away… but if you don’t have anyway to store the milk in a fridge etc, it will be hard to keep it.
I would think your supply will be stable enough by then for it to cope with a day, boobs are clever things! I would just think you’ll be uncomfortable… mine missed a feed in the night and I woke up feeling like Pamela Anderson 🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Kirky658 · 10/10/2021 22:40

Hi ladies sorry had to go to urgent care with Alice. She's had a full checkup and is really well, just constipated so she has been given some lactulose to hopefully move things along 🤞

AdventuresAwait · 11/10/2021 01:03

Glad Alice is okay @Kirky658 xx

Scotti84 · 11/10/2021 14:25

@Kirky658 how are you and Alice doing today? Hope things start moving for her.

Lilly worried me a bit this morning, she slept most of yesterday and most of the night, one 6 hr stint and then after a change and feed was right back asleep again, went for a walk this morning which obviously she slept thru again. I've put her on a playmat which seems to be getting her attention and she's having fun chatting to the star with a face thats hanging over her... she's eating and pooping like normal so maybe it's just a growing phase... poor thing, when she's awake too much i worry, when she sleeps too much I worry!

Kirky658 · 11/10/2021 14:55

@scotti84 thanks, she's still projectile vomited over me today but has done 2 poos, yay!!

I know what you mean about worrying about them sleeping too much, 2 nts in a row Al has slept from 1030 to 0430 and I keep worrying I haven't woke when she's cried!

AdventuresAwait · 11/10/2021 14:58

@Scotti84, our baby is sleeping quite a bit at the moment but she's just entering her first leap so I wondered if it's that. How old is Lilly? Just asking as it sounds as though she is making noises etc as you said she's chatting to a star & I'm not sure our little one is doing that much yet.

FTEngineerM · 11/10/2021 15:27

Having a bit of a melt down here today😩 shouted at DS1 for whining whilst I fed DS2 in the car because he STILL is soooo angry all the time. I feel awful, obviously totally overwhelmed, he didn’t even understand just looked sad then carried on.

Been to doctors about DYlan and they think he has CMPA too so given us prescription for formula. Super emotional because I’ve been loving breastfeeding and I know this means the end. Everything feels so different to how I’d pictured; emcs and formula.

I hope this makes Dylan more comfortable though so he can stop being so upset all the time he’s awake. We’re running on 3 hours sleep here atm and it’s just brutal.

I can’t remember who said it might be CMPA but thank you who ever it was ❤️ I probably wouldn’t have gone to the doctor so soon hadn’t you put that thought into my mind.

Hi everyone. Sorry I've not been on here for ages, but it's been one thing after another with Alyssa & didn't want to sound like a moaning Minnie to everyone. However, I know you'll all understand when I say I really just need somewhere to go ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! without being judged.

Alyssa has caught a cold & is currently waking every hour screaming as she can't breath the poor mite. The only place she properly sleeps is on me & I am exhausted. It wouldn't be so bad if all I had to do was look after her. But I still need to cook & clean & barely feel like I'm keeping my head above water. I think people are getting fed up of me struggling & crying & think I should be coping better. But the lack of sleep is slowly grinding me down along with feeding on demand.

Sophieandtiger · 11/10/2021 16:18

@FTEngineerM just wanted to send sympathy. Dd1 has gone from the happiest most easy going child to being super angry all the time. She literally just ripped a house plant for no reason yesterday. She can be fine one minute and then just turns.

It's just awful and so hard to be patient when you're low on sleep and overwhelmed. I feel so guilty that I'm not handling her well but she is whining all the time and misbehaving so much! So on top of having a new sibling she is now being told off constantly...

I'm not enjoying this part at all but I am sure it will get better!

Understand the sadness at having to move to formula too, it's a lot to deal with but hopefully it helps Dylan and things get more settled. 🙏

Noodles4Me · 11/10/2021 17:28

I am here with the sympathy on the lack if sleep...I'm averaging between 3-5 broken hours a night. My boy doesn't cry much, just grizzles and is hyper alert at the moment.

Must say, I feel like the odd one out...don't feel a shred or guilt or upset for switching to formula, and I'm off out with my mum tonight and don't feel anything other than excited to leave the baby with his dad!! Shock

Lol, maybe I'm just not hugely maternal? Is this normal?

FTEngineerM · 11/10/2021 18:19

God no @Noodles4Me it’s perfectly normal to use formula 😂, I just enjoyed bfing so it’s not what I wanted. When I switched with DS1 it was what I wanted so I was loving life.

Thanks @Sophieandtiger it’s so hard isn’t it😭.
I’ve been overly nice since and we had fun chasing each other around the forest so hopefully he’s forgotten all about it. I’ve bought some books so I’ll be reading those this eve 😬😀 if there are army pro tips I’ll share them.

@Kirky658 oh dear, I'm sure that was lovely for you, but on the bright side at least its moving! 😅

@AdventuresAwait she's 6 weeks on Thursday, this last week she's been much more alert, mostly staring at things like the pictures on our wall, weve got off white walls in the living room with a big print of the northern lights and she loves to stare at that, i think because of the contrast. We put her on the playmat to see if she would react to the hanging toys, and shes taken to this big blue star, the rest dont interest her, but if we lay her so she faces that she'll babble quite happily. Might also be because I talk non stop to her and she just thinks its normal to rabble on all day 😂

@GWhiteley youre in the right place for a moan, letting it all out helps massively even if its just to get it off your chest to people in the same situation. Lilly still sleeps better on me than in her bed although it is improving, if she is a bit unhappy i lay her on my chest and pack cushions or pillows round us so she cant go anywhere and i can sleep a bit too. Its only light sleep as im aware she's there but it does help, do you have a maternity pillow? I lay propped up on that and cross the long bits over so she's packed in, might be worth a go? As for cooking tell me about it! When she sleeps in the day its it's choice between do i cook, clean or sleep myself. We've had so many sandwiches these last few weeks, the only solution I've found is cooking things like lasagne or a pasta bake and freezing it so when it gets to the point we need a proper meal i can bang it in the oven. Dont put too much pressure on yourself, this is new for a lot of us and all we can do is take each day as it comes and know that in a few months theyll sleep better and we'll be missing the time when they were so small and cute!

AdventuresAwait · 11/10/2021 19:37

Thanks for your reply @Scotti84. Our baby is 6 weeks on Thursday too! She's also been more alert recently. Had our 6 week HV check today and they mentioned baby making noises so I just wondered what exactly. She kind of makes little ahh noises so maybe that's the start! She's also just starting the period for leap number 1 so I think she's changing a lot at the moment.
