@BlackberrySt eat, play, sleep is going really well. I feel like I have more time to do things and know when she will want fed. DD’s happier when awake and finally settling herself to sleep (I do miss the cuddles though)

THATmamaofMANY · 16/09/2021 06:48

I am @pinkgin8

HumunaHey · 16/09/2021 06:53

White nose and patting or rocking seems to help DS get to sleep.

BlackberrySt · 16/09/2021 16:03

That’s good @PeanutButterFalcon. Mine went from 7.30am to 3.30pm today with only a half hr snooze. He’s just fallen asleep now. I am really dozy too! But he wasn’t cross, was even ok with a trip out in the buggy. Really weird! Can’t believe he’s not upset, he was cheerful the whole time.

@THATmamaofMANY when you do the system clean every two weeks do you press the filter reset for two seconds right at the very end

THATmamaofMANY · 17/09/2021 10:25

Only press the filter reset if you change the filter i think

pinkgin8 · 18/09/2021 21:40

@THATmamaofMANY thought so! As then the filter won't tell you when it needs changing surely! Thank you x

Those who have had their 6-8 week postnatal check, how did it go?

I had mine yesterday. I can't remember what happened with DS1 but it seemed a waste of time this time around. I was asked a load of questions in a rushed manner, then she reeled off a list of contraception choices. Again, quite rushed.

I then mentioned I began bleeding a few days ago but bleeding was fairly light and pretty much stopped after two days. Her answer was that it must be my period(fair enough) but this was followed by "periods usually return around 8 weeks after childbirth when formula feeding" I said "oh right,ok. I am EBF though." Then she said "Ooh I'm not too sure it's your period then" and that was it Hmm. I couldn't press furtger asI was bit flustered- DS was screaming bloody murder afterbeen poked and prodded. As aside note, I am so pissed off it is my period returning after 2 measly months!

Another thing that seemed shit is that I have quite a big dip in my stomach. It's very noticeable when you press your fingers in. She had a quick prod with her fingers and said my stomach muscles are very strong and nothing is wrong. I would like a second opinion and a physio referral. I might pay for one of those "mummy MOTs" but my recent appointment has made me realise how crap these check ups can be. More of a tick box exercise.

THATmamaofMANY · 23/09/2021 08:09

Well mine was a phone appointment so completely useless

HumunaHey · 23/09/2021 13:10

@THATmamaofMANY

That's absolutely shameful! A phone appointment might suit some but healthcare is getting a little silly imo with not wanting to see people face to face.

A new mum could be really suffering, which not be spotted over the phone.

My son slept from 9 pm till 6! Woke at 4 gave him his dummy whilst I was going to get up and make a bottle but he went straight back to sleep, so I left him to sleep, then woke at 6 for it.
Having a bath really helps him sleep longer.
He does this a few times in the week. Then other nights wakes for about two bottles all together.
Feel quite lucky but the sleep regression stage will be approaching soon so it will all go out the window.
Does every child go through that?

Mummy2O · 23/09/2021 20:26

We have had a few nights where DS has managed from 10.30pm to 6am in one stretch, but it isn't consistent. Still much better than his brother who was up every 1-2 hours at this stage so I'll take it. Grin

Gilbertsaurus · 24/09/2021 21:30

@HumunaHey sorry to hear your checkup was rubbish Sad like most things guess it varies massively depending on the doctor. Also gutting that your period is back! I've almost given up expressing milk so dreading mine coming soon.
My 8 week check wasn't rushed thankfully, they gave us a 45minute appointment for my check and newborn check which was way longer than we needed! Had a bit of a chat about how I'm coping with feeding/sleeping/emotions etc, sorted out birth control, referred me for a birth debrief then did newborn check last so that my stuff was done before he got fussy.

LadySB89 · 26/09/2021 21:40

Has my DD 12 week jab. Nurse told me temperature is very unlikely so no need for Calpol. Later in the night we noticed temp risen to 38 and days course of Calpol took it down to 35.

Recently she gets cranky before falling asleep and also during the day during feed time she'd reject the last 50% of the bottle unless few minutes before falling asleep where should would drink further 40%.

HumunaHey · 28/09/2021 08:16

@Gilbertsaurus Thanks. Good to hear you had a decent checkup! I'm mostly annoyed about mine because of my stomach situation. I want to know if it's likely to heal eventually and what, if anything I should do. I feel like I have almost no core muscle and it's giving me back ache. Very annoying!

On reflection, I'm not even sure if I could class what I had as a period. It was heavy enough for a period but strange that it lasted two days. Mind you, if from now on it means I just have 2 day, pretty much pain free periods, I'll accept them coming 2 months postpartum Grin.

I hope everyone is getting on ok. I think most of us will be emerging from the newborn stage now. I hope you've all survived! From my own previous experience, things begin to get much easier from here.

THATmamaofMANY · 28/09/2021 09:57

IVE HAD THREE PERIODS PEOPLE 😪

4 weeks, 8 weeks and 10 weeks Sad

Send me sympathy

PeanutButterFalcon · 28/09/2021 14:28

@THATmamaofMANY me too!
Exclusively breastfeeding and was hoping they’d stay away a little longer.

@HumunaHey there are some good exercises on YouTube for diastasis recti. I’ve been doing one where in various positions eg led down, stood up, leaning, you pull your belly button in and up and then squeeze your pelvic floor. And yoga but I’m not a fan of yoga. The worse thing apparently are ab exercises.

HumunaHey · 28/09/2021 16:37

@THATmamaofMANY @peanutbutterfalcon Oh no, I'd be so pissed off if my periods came back at just 4 weeks and kept returning so frequently. That must be such a pain.

@peanutbutterfalcon Yeah I've been doing a few excercises from YouTube (leg lifts, heel slides,deep breathing, etc). It just feels like abit of a stab in the dark. I would also like a professional to assess me and tell me how bad the diastasis recti actually is. I've tried following instructions online but I still can't tell just how bad the gap is. Sometimes i feel a 2 finger gap,other times it's perhaps 3 and others it could even be 4! Maybe I'm just a moron who can't follow simple instructions lol. I've definitely avoided ab exercises (apart from the full workout that is helping my toddler into his car seat😫

pinkgin8 · 29/09/2021 01:37

@THATmamaofMANY
I had the depo injection 6 weeks after having my son, after I stopped bleeding, but one week later I began bleeding, hasn't stopped for nearly 2 months 🤬

THATmamaofMANY · 29/09/2021 05:14

@pinkgin8 have you used the depo before? I personally can't have the implant as that made me bleed near continuously it also then took me a year to get someone to take the bastard thing out of my arm!

pinkgin8 · 30/09/2021 09:01

@THATmamaofMANY no never!
I think because I'd recently given birth, no one told me you can continuously bleed 🙄
So I had it as I am not good at remembering to take the pill but I'd rather go back on that if this was to happen a second time round

Tilltheend99 · 30/09/2021 09:15

Hi, is it too late to join this chat?

DD born 23/06/22 at 9lb

Still hardly any baby groups round her so curious as to how other new parents are getting on Smile

Tilltheend99 · 30/09/2021 09:16

*21 (darn my phone)

Mummy2O · 30/09/2021 09:37

@Tilltheend99 There are a few running in our area, but definitely not as many as there were when I had my first. The groups organised by the health visitor seem to have stopped entirely. The local classes are also getting booked up much quicker. Saying that, I have found some groups in unexpected places - like our local soft play centre is running a free group one morning a week.
