come on 2 + 1 dont keep us in suspense!!!!

catstar · 07/02/2008 13:19

Hello Ladies - lost our internet for a while so just catching up & hope all ok.

2+1 - waiting with baited breath for your news!

Re. car seats, we bought a Britax combination one that starts at birth and lasts until they reach about 4 yrs old. Was a bit of a pain in the early days not being able to lift O out to put in trolley etc but we got through it! It stays rear facing until 13kgs then you turn it round to forward facing. Pleased with it so far but not sure what state it will be in in 4 years time!

All going well here apart from Little O's lingering cold - been through lots of saline drops! The sun is shining and I have the car today, so we're off to Wisley RHS garden for a wander round and nice cup of coffee in the cafe. Will really miss this when I'm back at work. I had a meeting yesterday with HR so it's all finalised - 4 days a week (Mondays off) starting 11 March . Still, it will be nice to start earning some money again, even if most of it will be going to the nursery .

theprecious · 07/02/2008 20:37

miniprecious has got minimeep's bug. We got home tonight and he was sick all over me. Even in my bra - not sure how he managed that. He was then sick about four more times.

It's the first time he's been really ill and it has shook me up.

He's fine in himself. Cried a bit after he'd been sick for the fourth time but then was laughing as usual. He's in bed now and I am having a stiff drink.

Might be teeth rather then bug as he doesn't have any yet, and the gums at the front are raised.

Hope everyone else is OK.

2+1 - news?

Catstar - good luck with job. Let us know how it goes (of course you will). I am trying to resurrect your old thread but with no luck so far.

meep · 07/02/2008 21:29

Thanks all for the car seat advice - at least I can put off that purchase for a little while (minmeep only around 17lbs!)

catstar - know what you mean about nursery - we don't even get nappies included!!

Poor miniprecious! You have my sympathy over the bra filled with sick - that was me on Sunday! I phoned my best friend who has 2 ds's and cried down the phone cos I was so upset by dd's vomit ! Hope theprecious ds keeps up his laughing and is on the mend!

2+1 - we all can't wait to know!

Myfairone · 08/02/2008 08:44

2+1 - where are you? hope you're ok.

poor miniprecious...hope he is ok soon. it is so hard when they are sick isnt it. you feel their pain don't you. hope he is better soon.

meep, glad to hear minimeep is ok

catstar, great to hear you managed to negotiate part time. you still have a while yetbefore going back so enjoy!

twoplusone · 08/02/2008 09:17

twoplusone · 08/02/2008 12:09

Nyone know if babies can lose their voice.. i think lee is losing his his crys are all croaky.. will see what he is like after his nap.. maybe a trip to the docs..bless him.

Myfairone · 08/02/2008 21:14

2+1, glad to hear that you're okay and I can understand that you feel a little sad. Mother nature is very clever isn't she? You were all prepared 'just in case'!

I cannot imagine how hard it must be for you to say goodbye to your man again. I hope he has a safe trip...

Yes babies can get croaky. My DS had a bad cold after Christmas and lost his voice..when he babbled it sounded very croaky. The doctor said his throat was red and sore, so maybe Lee has the same.

Take care and enjoy the time you have with your man until he has to go.

Big hugs

twoplusone · 09/02/2008 19:00

Thank you MFO.

DH is getting all his things ready now.. taking over my front room. the worst part is him saying goodnight to the children, pooor Scott has no concept we tr y telling him daddy going away for a long time but at 3 24hrs is along time..

Anyway off for hugs and cuddles.

Soeak soon.xx

meep · 09/02/2008 19:48

Thinking of you lots 2+1 - I have no idea how you cope - you are a very brave lady.

Hope wee Lee is getting his voice back - Emily lost hers once - it sounded very cute but can't have felt nice for her!

The vomit bug has spread......to me . Had to go home from work on Friday cos I'd thrown up - have spent until now in bed. The worst thing is missing precious weekend time with Emily! Hope you don't get it theprecious.

x

twoplusone · 09/02/2008 23:18

Hope you feel better soon meep.. hope lo is ok now both meep and the precious.

Well dh has left now.. already feeling all alone.. really opissed off with family as only his mam and dad have phoned to say anything to him.. not a peep from any of my lot.. most exmilitary and some still serving.. so know what it is like.. really really angry at them. Then they wonder why I dont want to go home etc, when to me they dont support my dh. Sorry just really angry, upset and god knows what other emotions ..

Take care all.xx

bilblio · 09/02/2008 23:40

Thinking of you 2+1. You're a sronger brave person than me. DP rarely goes anywhere without me, it's me that leaves him overnight. I'm lost when I'm in the house without him.

Hope all the babies, and grownups are feeling better soon.

We're celebrating the arrival of a tooth. Celebrating even more the fact it's come through without any great upset.
We discovered the tooth at tea time, B decided she hated strawberries, even when mixed with yoghurt, but she'd enjoyed them on their own at lunch time. My fingers were much tastier, which is when we discovered the tooth. I thought it must be a strawberry seed at first it was so unexpected.

Unfortunately things went rapid downhill after that and she started crying her heart out. We took her for her bath and her poor bum is as red as a strawberry. She screamed when anything touched it, even water. So we're now trying to decide whether it's caused, by teething, the slight sniffle she's got, the multiple poos she's done today, or the strawberries. The strawberries are now in the freezer and we'll try then again in a couple of weeks.

madmumNika · 10/02/2008 10:43

2+1, thinking of you loads, you have my utmost respect and admiration- don't know how I would cope if my DP was away even a month. I really hope you have some friends nearby who can help keep you company, and some people you can share everything with... So sorry to hear your family haven't been supportive- you have every right to feel angry. Lots of hugs (((( ))))

Bilblio- hope DD's nappy rash clears up soon- recommened as much nappy-free time as possible, and metanium ointment always works wonders for us. So many things can flare up nappy rash it's hard to know which thing has caused it... I know teething makes everything worse (eczema etc.) so could be that...

All ok here, although we're all got the most evil cold (but glad it's only a cold and not the sick-big- hope miniprecious and Meep feel better soon!). DD was very miserable the past couple of days but started on yet another antibiotic which seems to be helping. I feel like I live at our chemists!

Just about to do a quick bit of PhD work before meeting my supervisor this afternoon, dreading it, after the past few days my head is a long way from work!

We are thinking of giving up our broadband in a bid to save money...the thought of no internet terrifies me! But I guess I can use the library a couple of eves each week...

Hugs to you all xxx

meep · 10/02/2008 13:05

That is rubbish about your family 2+1 - give them what for, then cry - that will make them feel bad .

Hope you're keeping busy today and that your kids are not missing your dh too much.

CONGRATULATIONS to biblio's dd - interesting about the strawberries - let us know what happens when you try them again. DD has a bit of nappy rash at the moment - I think it is her toxic poos - at least 3 a day . Agree with MMN - metanium works wonders. THough if you send it with your dd to nusery and ask them to use it she may come back with her wee bottom thickly coated in it - so much so that she left a big yellow stain on her bath seat !!

Am very impressed that you are doing a phd MMN - the thought of further study brings me out in a cold sweat (5 years was enough for me!). I know what you mean about the thought of no internet - yikes - I think I could cope but dh wouldn't have a clue what to do with himself!

Myfairone · 10/02/2008 14:04

2+1 - how you feeling today my friend? As all the others have said, you have my utmost respect (as does your DH). I hope that he has a safe time there. Get angry with your family, you have every right. Doesn't matter if they are in the service or not, surely everyone knows how hard it must be for you...selfish!

Meep, sorry to hear that you got the bug, hope you feel better soon.

MMN, also raising my hat to you doing a phd!

Bilblio, excellent news on the tooth, not so good on the sore bott. I think teething causes that anyway so it may have nothing to do with the strawberries.

well, we are going out for lunch today. I have a list of things to pack....never fed lo in a restaurant before...wish me luck!

twoplusone · 10/02/2008 20:07

MF hope the meal went well.
Bibil congratulations on the tooth, DD cut her first ne without me knowing, it wasnt until her back teeth came through that she whinged abit.

MMN well done you on the phd.. Ihave been thinking about doing a course for years.. but cant muster up the energy to get one sorted..just lazy..lol.

Well we have had a fun filled day, did the kitchen this mrning, then dd took ds1 toplay football whuilst ds2 and I walked the dog, popped next door for a few hrs, then took ds1and2 to the families bar and let ds1 run riot for a few hrs..whilst dd played out. Came home did tea, bathed boys and out them to bed. then the dramas as usual he goes away and something goes wrong. Went to go in the kitchen and nearly fell floor soaking..utility room, hall way and kitchen (all ceramic tikles) flooded.. bloody washing machine has gone.. have emtied filter.. One of dd earings, a pennyand some fluff!!!. Put it back onand still leaking think it is the drm..have had to leave t on though as it is dd school coat in there. I am almost sure it is the same pprob that I had just after we moved in the summer.. so looks like a new washung machne, if the man cant fix it aaarrgggh. have warned next door that I will need to wash my towels there tommorrow..lol..

Was going to tackle my bedrom tonight but I have gone for an Apple Smirnoff ice instead..

hope those who have been feeling poorly are better and all los are ok.xx

And thank you for your concern...

bubble78 · 10/02/2008 22:32

hello ladies just a quick question my dd was born 6th july 07 and is still not able to sit up unless supported by us or cushions when we hold he in the sitting postion she quite happily looks around at things so i know her neck muscles are strong she also isnt keen on being on her tummy al though getting better at it she just cant lift her head up for very long so gets upset
should i be worried ?????

Myfairone · 11/02/2008 10:01

hey bubble, my lo was born 25.7 so a little after yours but he cant sit unaided and when propped up he topples if he moves...i think they all go at their own pace, dont worry

bubble78 · 11/02/2008 10:13

thanks myfairone i think with having a son with autism i am worrying about everything i should never have googled sitting up because nowi know its a sign of of other things.
thanks again

Myfairone · 11/02/2008 15:23

bubble - try not to worry...i am sure that you are looking for things under the circumstances but try and relax...the internet is a wonderful and powerful tool that has caused no end of worrying!

2+1 - didnt something happen last time when he went away? you poor thing...hope you get it sorted out. thinking of you

twoplusone · 11/02/2008 19:48

everything always happens when he goes away it is a standing joke in our house..lol

the machine is kaput, will be shopping tommorrow for a new one.. just what my credit card doesnt need.....

Myfairone · 12/02/2008 15:06

it really gets to me, when you have zero money stuff always goes wrong! we had to fing £300 for the car but without it we're stuffed!

hope you manage to find a nice one.

meep · 13/02/2008 08:03

2+1 hope you're doing okay - keep smiling - disaster re the washing machine - ugh - Apple Smirnoff was definitely what was needed !
Bubble - do not worry about your dd - babies all do their stuff at different rates. Minimeep has always been an upright baby who loved to sit and stand supported, and so sitting was somthing she learnt to do first. But she does not and will not roll, even just onto her side, never mind her front! Most of the babies we know that are her age and younger are doing it. I am not worrying and can secretly be smug that when I put her down she isn't rolling herself under the sofa and eating the dust bunnies!
MFO - boo to your car - I hate cars, they always cost a fortune and always break down when you need them most!
Day off today - hooray! The sun is shining and it is frosty so we are going to go for a lovely wintry walk then meet some other mums for coffee and NO cake (I have lost 7lbs - whoo hoo - still a long way to go though!)

catstar · 13/02/2008 09:55

Meep - it was reassuring to know that Minimeep is also a non-roller. Little O is 7 months tomorrow and is quite happy sitting or lying on her back, but grunts and groans, and evetually cries, when I try her on her stomach. I too have noticed that most of the other babies her age or younger are happily rolling! Bubble78 - hope you have found some reassurance from others and am sure your DD is just waiting to do everything at once!!! My nephew didn't say a word until he was nearly 3, then on the day he was being taken to a speech therapist said "No, Nana, I really want that one over there"!!! Couldn't shut the little monkey up after that!!

Twoplusone - hope you are getting plenty of support while your DH is away - it doesn't help when washing machines flood your kitchen!!! Hope he has a safe time overseas.

Little O is now only on three milk feeds a day and I have to say I am missing the feeding! I love our bedtime feed and think this will be what gets me through the days at work. Under 4 weeks to go.....

Enjoy the sunshine !

twoplusone · 13/02/2008 12:49

Hi all,
MFO have you had the car ixed yet. I got a washing machine yesterday, just waiting for it to be delivered, then i need to ask the neighbours if someone will come and help me take the transit bar off and plum it in.

I have decided i am a disaster vortex.. i broke lees cot this morning.. he hd thrown his dummy between the cot and the wall, I lifted olne end of the cot to move and the screws came out of the base the other side, the holes are shagged.. I am peed off as the cot cost alot of money.. but it was scotts and it was a cot bed so he had 3years out of it. I am not buying nother one, luckily the army issue brand new cots ofr free they are mother care ones , so I have one being delivered tommorrow morning. Using friends travel cot for tonight.

I had to laugh.. so did my neighbour.. I have told her to be in for a fun but long 6 months with me around..

Havent heard from dh yet but in this situation no news is defo good news i suppose. Hopefully will hear from him by friday. I have sent him a letter told him about the washing machine.. will save the cot for the next one lol.... I think he will be dreading letters from me insead of looking forward to them..lol wondering how much money I have cost him with each one.

I am really tired today, went to go to bed at 9.30 last noght, just laid down when Lee woke up, he didnt go back of till 11.30 then ws up at 5. I thought I would kip with himthis morning, whilst scott was at nursery, but he slept on the way to nursery then woke up on the way back. then fell back of to sleep 20mins before we had to go and pick Scott up, for another 20mins. He fell asleep about 10mins ago andyou can guarantee he will sleep for atleast 2hrs now..when I cant... lol oh the joys. I will ask dd to watch the boys for 30mins-anhr int he font room when she gets in from school and I will have a quick power hour then on the sofa, so i can still listen out for them all.

hope everyone is ok..

ooops a bit of a long post...

Take care all xx
