twoplusone · 13/02/2008 20:47

I am waiting for my friends to turn up at the mo so wont be an early night either.. but i will leave theboys with them for an hour tommorrow to catch up on some sleep..lol

theprecious · 13/02/2008 22:01

Hope everyone is well. Miniprecious is over his bug. He's been sleeping well but deciding to wake up SCREAMING at 5-6am. So weird, as soon as I distract him then he stops, like a switch has been flicked. But to hear him, you'd think he was being terrorised.

2+1 - hope you are OK and good to hear that you've heard from your dh. Hope you get a nap today.

Has anyone got an Ergo carrier.....looking at them on ebay?

Have decided to go back four days a week, seeing a childminder tomorrow.

theprecious · 15/02/2008 19:59

Oh my God - I killed the Thread

pulapula · 15/02/2008 20:27

Don't worry theprecious!

DS has cut his first 2 teeth this week. I was getting really down that everytime i put him down for a nap or at bedtime, he'd shout/cry and takes ages to settle. In the evening he's been waking every 30-45 mins too. But things seem back to normal now, fingers crossed.

I met up with justabout and her 2 DSs on Monday. We had a nice chat- i'd forgotten she'd moved house on the day after having DS2- what a woman! She was really embarrassed but thought you might find it funny that she couldn't start her car after her visit so i had to ensist DH to jump start her car (luckily she had jump leads!).

pulapula · 15/02/2008 21:06

Spoke too soon- have been up to DS twice since my post as he's crying (have used some bonjela). I don't think we've had more than 2 evenings in the last month where we haven't been up to him. It feels like we can't go out any more as he's so unsettled. Anyone else's LOs like this? At least he sleeps well between 10 and 5/6 (or maybe we do and we don't hear him!) but guess its better this way round so we get a good night's sleep too.

meep · 15/02/2008 23:02

lol at theprecious!

Pula - minimeep has taken to waking around 9.30 each night crying - she sounds so sad - I reckon it's teeth Normally she settles herself again - but some nights needs a cuddle and occasionaly we have to wake her fully and bring her down for a play before she goes back to sleep. And we have no teeth yet!!!

MillserL · 16/02/2008 22:52

Hi there,

Can I join?

My DD Bláthnaid was born on 11 July last. I also have a son who will be four in March.

Looking forward to chatting to you all in the future.

Lorna

meep · 17/02/2008 09:08

Hi there MillserL - welcome!
Now - you're going to have to tell us how to pronouce your dd's name!

twoplusone · 17/02/2008 20:00

Hi millserL.. second the how do prounce your dds name..

well I am hoping for some goodluck this week..

I went through some paperwork addressed to Dh on friday.. found some insurance docs for the car.. from a uk company insuring the car for out here.. which is great..other than we have german insurance that he set up in Oct.. he never cancelled the UK policy so for the last 5 months we have been paying to lots of car insurance.. its a good job he is where he is or I think I would have flipped. But because he is away I cant get angry..just incase..iykwim.. But he is a f*ing idiot.. Have sent him a nice letter telling him so but nicley..lol. I have banned hm from dealing with insurances and money when he gets back..

Lee still has no teeth but his little cheeks are bright red so dont think it will be long.. but saying that Scott didnt get his first tooth till 9.5months and I think Nicole was about the same too.
He is crawling backwards.. which is funny as all his toys are infront of him.. then he losses his temper..

off to watch wifeswap, hope you all had a good weekend..

meep · 17/02/2008 20:40

9.5months till teeth - please tell me it won't take that long! Poor minimeep is frantic with hand sucking and she is doing the most toxic poos! Her wee bottom is dark red with wee spots and she cries when I change her nappy. Have tried Cannestan but it makes no difference! Metanium isn't even sorting it out. Anyone got any tips?
2+1 - we were paying insurance on our current flat and our old flat - for 7 months - agh! DH was in charge of the joint account and hadn't noticed - ! - but he did manage to get a refund - phew!! Men!!!

emmyb · 17/02/2008 20:50

Pula I dont think we have had an evening since hes been born that ds hasnt woken. Usually just for a dummy now no longer needs a cuddle. Hes only slept through once!!!!

We now have 8 teeth so he is great at chewing. He had some naan bread tonight!!!

madmumNika · 17/02/2008 21:05

EmmyB- my sympathies at the not sleeping through! My DS was like that, first night he slept through he was just under 11 months...somehow you survive but I must have been terrible to live with! at 8 teeth!! That's good going!!
DS didn't cut his first tooth until 13 months (then 4 appeared within a week), but had seemed to be teething from 7 months, it was pretty tough and I was wondering if something was wrong... Then a week before the first tooth appeared he really went off his food, begain to think he was poorly- then the tooth cut through and he was back to normal! But late teeth is quite common and as he was premature by 10 weeks that might have had something to do with it. DD is now red-cheeked, salivating like crazy and chewing on anything within reach...but can't see any white under her gums yet although they do feel quite hard, so not expecting the teeth to appear for a while...

Meep- sounds like your DD may have thrush, and canasten cream doesn't always work on that- speak to a pharmacist if you can although you may well need to get your GP to take a look as can be hard to shift. There's always something!! ((((hugs))))

Welcome MillserL

All ok here, DD still coughing quite a bit so on yet another antibiotic, but used to it now (although I reckon all the antibiotics have given her a sweet tooth!). She seems to absolutely adore her big brother at the moment, gets so excited when she sees him it's very cute- thankfully he still seems to quite like her even though she's after all his tractors/planes/cars etc already! Oh the fun! DS has been waking quite a lot- not sure why- so in spite of DD sleeping from 8.30pm to 7.30am I still feel sleep deprived, don't you just love kids

Hugs to you all xxx

dorisofdevon · 17/02/2008 21:41

Meep just trying to catch up have you tried daily baths whilst mnimeep is really sore she may shout initally, but with both dd1 and dd2 I have always put them in the bath (with a couple of drops of lavender oil)when teething badly, it seems to help things enough for the metanium to do it's job! HTH

meep · 17/02/2008 21:53

doris - she gets daily baths - but haven't tried lavender oil - think I have some so will give it a go. She starts to heal but then does a horrid poo and it flares up again. We've also been doing lots of nappy off time and she gets upset when she does a wee. She hardly ever cries nowadays so it is horrible to hear her.

dorisofdevon · 17/02/2008 22:03

Hi to you all again, sorry about the double post but if i don't post when I see something inevitably something pulls me away from the computer, I am on alot just never long enough to say anything!

life in devon is currently snotty which is great.....two delicate little girls who look like glazed donuts. At least dd1 can tell us when shes feeling rotten(or more to the point which bit hurts) poor dd2 is snotty and grotty, teething (i think) and appeared to be constipated last night as well (which is not good given her previous surgeries), she seems more settled tonight which is good. Will probably need to add in more antibiotics next week any way

Other than that she's doing well she shows no inclination to crawl but bottom shuffles to reach what she wants (usually something belonging to big D cue discussions on sharing etc) She also loves standing holding on to my little fingers, bless, little does she realise that the sooner she starts moving the sooner we do more physio Want to start making more of my own food to give to her ( have been really lazy / busy to do more than a couple of receipes) and have been relying on Hipp. Anyone know of any good websites????

Had a new large freezer delivered a couple of weeks ago and now i'm getting mummy urges to fill it!

One last query and then i really must be off ( physio beckons) how many of you still have babies in your bedroom, I'm thinking about moving dd2 but she still wakes for a night feed and I like the security of her being in with us, dd1 was with me for her 1st year (circumstances rather than choice I was living with my parents whilst renovating our house) any thoughts??

love and peaceful nights doris x

dorisofdevon · 17/02/2008 22:09

Meep just read- the flare ups just seem to be part of teething dd2 bottom can be like a peach in the morning and angry, red sore with horrible weals by teatime with no obvious reason, hang in there they all come through eventually (although saying that dd1 (2.5)still gets that rosey red cheek and chomps )

meep · 17/02/2008 22:27

thanks doris! We've just managed to get on top of eczema - and now it is nappy rash - ugh! My SIL mentioned that it could be diet related - so she may be going back to nothing but sweet potato to see if that helps!
at 2.5yo!!!!

Jennster · 18/02/2008 07:45

dod ds moved out of our room last week. he still wakes once in the night, and more this weekend when i was staying with my ma abd pa. I went to bed exhausted last night at 10, and woke at 7! i haven't slept that long non stop in nearly 3 years.

twoplusone · 18/02/2008 08:55

meep I sometims use Vasiline on lees bum when it is really bad. That bebamthom (sp) is supposed tobe good.

lee has been in his own room since about 15weks.. he is the lastest of mine to move into his own room.. the other two were about 9-11weeks.. I have now put the boys i the same room as fed up of runnig from one end of house to ither.. but saying that since dh has been away Scott has slept with me he is like a leech bless him.

pulapula · 18/02/2008 10:02

DOD- I moved DS out of our room at 4 months (DD was at 5 months). It is sometimes a pain as he is in the attic so unsettled evenings involve a lot of stair climbing but I'm sure we were disturbing him. I don't feed him at all in the night so it works ok really.

2+1- I am thinking of moving DS in with DD (3.2) but it never seems to be the right time.

EmmyB- sympathies. I know I shouldn't complain about disturbed evenings - it was just that when DS was very little, we went out a few times as we were confident he wouldn't wake. The last couple of months, we haven't risked it as he's not reliable, so Christmas, New Year, my birthday, Valentines Day etc have all been spent at home with a takeaway. Oh well, I'm sure things will improve at some stage. He's full of a cold at the moment, so can't blame him for waking.

meep · 18/02/2008 19:48

Minimeep is still in the room with us - right beside me in her cot! Every weekend I say that we will move her into her own room, but she's still not made it there! I quite like having her next to me - but I know it will just get harder for both of us the longer I leave it. Do you all keep your baby monitor on over night?

catstar · 18/02/2008 21:11

Meep - we don't have our baby monitor on over night as our room is right next to Little O's - we just leave our door ajar. Believe me she makes herself heard if she wants to!! I think we moved her when she was about 5 months old - I miss her sometimes and have to stop myself popping her into bed with us sometimes!!

I have had the day from hell. Was up most of the night with toothache - couldn't get an appointment at my dentist until tomorrow morning so bought the strongest painkillers I could get over the counter and dosed myself up. Not too bad until after lunch when I was in Kingston when it felt like someone had stuck a knife in the side of my face - this is from the tooth that I broke over Christmas and had repaired recently. Couldn't stop the tears so bought a pair of sunglasses to hide behind and kept trying the dentist. In the end I went to DH's private one - I have a nasty abcess and need to have the tooth out later this week. Got loads of antibiotics, but not much has relieved the pain. It comes and goes in waves - right now is a good phase!

Emmyb - wow at the teeth!

Meep - hopw minimeeps nappy area gets better soon - I am also a big advocate of "nappy off" time. I think we have done this every day with O. However it may be one of the things to sacrifice when I'm back at work .

DOD - re. recipes, I am trying to get into the habit of taking out a portion of whatever I'm cooking for DH and me before adding any salt (no that we use a lot), mashing this up and giving it to O. So far she's enjoyed everything (macaroni cheese, chicken casserole etc) except fish pie so will try her on this again in a little while.

Must dash as am now allowed to take my next dose of Paramol .
