He's been fine today Jas. He coughed a bit when he went to bed tonight because he was lying down, other than that, no probs. Are you coming? I'll be home 11.15 from group unless its betrter for me not to go fro,m your point of view. anyway, I need to you to tell me abou some nappies I got off freecycle today. Veru old I think, but seem ok, some might be3 wrap bits or unery bits or osmething And lots of liners, if you'd luike a roll or two!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 21:18

Thanks for all of the suggestions ladies. Am now (after flame's suggestion) quite liking the idea of a toy (or two) with lots of bits, which she can get a bit of each day. Ideas so far are this or this or this or this or this (they apparently do a farm version of this too) or this or maybe something like this.

Dh has now got the calendar out of the loft, and each section is actually about the size of a small matchbox, so I've a bit more scope than I thought.

The shop that most of those links are from is near to my gym (it's where I went to look at the Wheelybug today), so I'm going to pop in tomorrow with the calendar and see what I can find without dd under my feet!

Of course it's tomorrow for mrm Jas. Today is cooking day. Silly me!

So where is mrm today then?

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 21:18

I just knew when I typed that last bit that it would turn out to be a crossed post .

Flame · 19/11/2007 21:25

I love the hen set and the soldiers

I want them for mine!!!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 21:44

They are great aren't they! Just shown dh, and he likes the hen set best too. If you like that, then you should browse the whole woody click range.

Frizbe · 19/11/2007 22:40

I love the soliders too I think everyones suggested things I'd pop in there too! so looks like you've got it covered.

Flame, at ds getting the bed thing tonight, hope you get a great nights sleep

Mamamour, eeek re the threadworms! horrible things....nearly as bad as the nits...still be thankful you're not preggers, as you can't take the medicine then
you have to itch for 9mths or so I've read on here anyay!

Jas for joists tomorrow.

Flame, did you get my message? chuck an extra 0 on the front!

MRM hope ds is feeling better now and you're not in the midst of lots of sick ....

Uni, scrapbook sounds nice, defo very different lifestyles, sounds like they could all have fun if you do a holiday swap when they're teenagers sort of thing you could make a good book/film out of!

d2 slept till am here today I had to get her out of bed!

Phoenix · 19/11/2007 22:44

We've got this advent calendar for ds and i was trying to think of small things to put in but i'm not very creative and just ended up buying some chocolate santas but i might have a look round for some little things like those or a 24 peice jigsaw to build up day by day

Frizbe · 19/11/2007 22:46

Phoenix, that's lovely so now I feel like crap mummy, cause you all have lovely advent calanders and we don't.....I think I may have one hang on the wall one in the loft somewhere might be choc dalek ones here I think

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 23:10

That's fab Phoenix . Glad we've inspired you with what to fill it with.

We only have one because dd was bought it by a friend on her travels, so I can't take credit for it Friz!

Did you miss out the time that dd slept til deliberately Friz?! It must be catching - someone else (EPPM?) did that last week too!

Right, am off to bed. Will try and find time for your masterminds tomorrow Jas!

Frizbe · 19/11/2007 23:29

CSWS no I didn't 7.30, tis dh's crap pc! or me forgetting number lock

you all need to sign this petition here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2000/388148?ts=1195514788857&msgid=8644619 don't know if any of you saw the programme, but it was gutting some disabled kids and some just abandoned, say like didi, whose mother just decided she couldn't cope with her one day when she was a teenager Its made me so angry.... I wanted to go and take them all away from it all, but I can't... so the least I can do is alert you all to it.

mustrunmore · 19/11/2007 23:31

My Mum gets the boys' advent calendars. She had a strop whn I banned choc ones, but she's used to it now.

Jas · 20/11/2007 07:39

I will check that link later, bu ust want to let mrm know I am comin, but go to oddlergroup frst. I definitely won' be there before 11.30, and probably a bit later.

mustrunmore · 20/11/2007 07:55

Great! Currently debating whether to go, make dh take them, or what. I need to wash my hair and I could do a run. And tidy up before you come!! On the other hand, if I go, its an easy way to give him some time to himself.

Phoenix · 20/11/2007 11:50

I'm sure dh goes out of his way to piss me off

The dog had his hair cut on Saturday and she said she could see the start of an infection in his ear and he needed to go to the vets. We forgot yesterday so as dh was going out to walk the dog i said take a detour on your walk and call in at the vets and book an appointment for this afternoon cos its my day off. So he comes back home says i've got him an appointment it's at 6.50pm, ds' bedtime is 7pm

Flame · 20/11/2007 12:33

It'll be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

Forgot to tell you this in amongst the bunk bed nightmare...

Was running the bath the other night, I went into B's room with her to tidy, left Boy in charge of Emrys.

He thought I had Emrys too.

Came out to find him sat in the still running bath, fully clothed, pouring himself a cup of tea with the barbie tea pot 2 funny

He got sooooooooooo cross when we took him out and undressed him!

Thankfully I was running both taps together, I often do just hot which could have been VERY nasty.

Mamamoor · 20/11/2007 13:43

Didn't actually see any threadworms (obviously dh checked himself - thank God!!) but the chemist lady said it's probably what the itching meant!!! Have all (except H) been dosed now whetehr we actually had them or not.
Jas, am buying for approx 7 kids between the ages of 2 and 6. Am getting mostly books and maybe some crafty things for the older ones. Boring but safe. Will probably by dd1 something unsuitably sparkly and girly much to dh's disgust!!!

CSWS - just love those hens!!!

Off the thread now I know, but does anyone know how to make fat balls (or bird pudding as we used to call it) for our feathered visitors? Really want to feed them but find all the seed etc so expensive.

Flame · 20/11/2007 13:49

here

OP posts:
Phoenix · 20/11/2007 20:10

Bloody vets!!!!

£12.00 for some ear drops, not too bad but £26.00 for a consultation £38 altogether. She said he's gonna need his teeth cleaning after christmas too, god knows how much that costs. Luckily, touch wood, he doesn't go to the vets very often.

Ds is fast asleep in bed and has been for half an hour so he wasn't much later in bed than normal after the late vet appointment. I took him in his pj's all wrapped up in his pushchair with his milk. Me and the dog however were piss wet through.

for the bath Flame. Lucky you did have both taps on. He's definitely a good little climber isn't he

Flamesparrow · 20/11/2007 20:28

Can't you use those tooth cleaning chew things? I don't recall my mum's dog going for teeth cleaning Where's Chloe when you need her??

"Good little climber" is understatement of the year! I swear he has fingers like spiderman - he climbs up this slope thing in the park that all the other children use a rope and pull themselves up - he seems to hold on somehow just with flat hands

He fell out of bed earlier - think he fell asleep too close to the edge. Settled again fine though.

DD is exhausted - school, gym club, then she went bowling with a friend. I got her straight to bed when she came in, was scratching her eyebrows (cradle cap), and her eyes were rolling already

Phoenix · 20/11/2007 20:40

last time he was there they gave us this seaweed stuff called plaque off that we sprinkle over his food which is meant to help but she looked today and said there's still plaque or tartar (can't remember which) round them so she said it looks like they'll need cleaning or he might start losing them

Ds doesn't climb much at all. He tried to climb in his cot the other day but as far as i know hasn't attempted to get out cos of his grobag

Phoenix · 20/11/2007 20:45

I can't win. Dh just rang to see what the vet said and i was moaning we got wet walking down there so he says "why didn't you go in the car?" If i'd have gone in the car he'd have said something like "you lazy cow starting the car to go 5 mins down the road" MEN!!!!

Flamesparrow · 20/11/2007 21:13

for teeth, but lol @ your DH - not a good day for him

Where is everybody??

Jas · 20/11/2007 21:53

I'm here.

I've spent the day being dps gofer, and have to do the next two days so we can get all the joists in (not possible alone....why he failed to tell me I was needed despite me specifically asking repeatedly I don't know) .He dropped it on me as I was leaving for theschool run, so no visit to mrm and no work or toddler groups for the next two days

I've emptied the loft of present s and spent the past two hours wrapping Mum and dad can take them and store them for me on Friday.

Phoenix · 20/11/2007 22:03

I haven't wrapped pressies yet but i sat and wrote some cards last night. at your dp for not telling you he needs help.
