We saw some baby sheepskin mittens the other day. Don't you know anyone who can knit you some?

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/11/2007 21:48

No - we have talentless friends Phoenix .

Just found a possibility - anyone tried magic gloves?

But yes, if you do see the pink M&S ones in size 2-3 then please get them for me flame - don't mind if she ends up with more than one pair, as we'll prob lose some anyway .

UniS · 18/11/2007 21:53

all these big beds ! eek.
Have decided boy is getting an Isla bikes Rohan for birthday. A remote control dumper truck for Christmas. Trikes he can contine to ride at friends, childrens centre & toddler gp.
Am currently trying to make a book. pics of boy and captions . To go to his American cousins . Just a scrap book type thing really. been hard going through pics trying to decide which give a flavor of boys life. Its pretty differnt to his cousins. 6 of them under 9 in one family in rural mid west USA, home schooling, mini bus owning etc. Boy is only child living in city with bike mad parents.
THanks for teh ideas on language promotion have passed on to SALT in charge.
Had a tunnel from teh toy libraray this week, its been such good value for 30p. hours of fun for a boy in a going through and into things schema.

Phoenix · 18/11/2007 21:54

I think magic gloves will be too big tbh. I got some from asda they stretch to fit my hands but are loads bigger than ds' hands to start with iykwim.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/11/2007 21:57

Were they kids ones Phoenix? These are in the toddler (1-4) section of Adams .

We also like the Rohan UniS. dh has spent hours comparing it with the likeabike jumper .

Phoenix · 18/11/2007 21:58

Oh just realised they're toddler ones so they'll probably be ok. Mine are kids ones so they're prob for older kids.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/11/2007 23:06

Yay for snow- has been coming down thick and fast here all night- looks like finally stopping, but has stuck well.

Have been making soup all evening -yummy!

dd still not well- dh's man flu has definitely been worse today too

Friz- she lives in reading, so down there!

CSWS- I want to get her the bee, as she has a thing about bees.
Can't believe I just actually won that mastermind! I was doing terribly yesterday.

Flame- hope flameboys better soon- probably doesn't help switching when he's poorly. I'm sure once he's better he'll be much better in it.

UniS- wow at remote control- I wouldn't have thought of something like that yet- I still find them difficult now!

Flame · 19/11/2007 07:49

my night

I'll go to M&S today most likely

for your poorly household EPPM

Jas · 19/11/2007 08:26

Oh dear Flame.
I will try and video ds' cot umping across the room trick. That will make you feel better. There is no way I'm letting him out of his co (butthen he hasn't tried again since he fell.

csws - Are you ignoring me on mastermind in case I beat you again?

mustrunmore · 19/11/2007 10:34

No snow, but bloody freezing!
Major major vomiting from ds2 in the night... in our bed... then after brekkie.

Flame, it will pass, and he will get used to it. IIRC, ds1 took a while, and we had this 'do you want cot or bed'thing for a few weeks, until he chose the wendyhouse floor

EachPeachPearMum · 19/11/2007 12:49

Oh Flame- for ds. Reading your other thread though, after the 'poo' my first thought was tummyache!

Mamamoor · 19/11/2007 13:45

You forgot us (I'm a bit of a sporadic poster I know but it's still good to know you guys are out there!)
HOLLY ANNA, Birthdate 21st Feb, Born to Mamamoor, dd2

What have I missed? - need cheering up as life is a bit crap at the moment hence long silence. dh is still not well and still signed off sick and mooning around at home getting under my feet - probably not really serious but he has had various tests which he should get the results for tomorrow - just hope it throws some light on what ails him. Actually it's been quite nice having him home even though we haven't actually achieved anything which he has been around. DD1 is just getting over an ear infection, dd2 has a stinking cold and I have horrendous back ache. The good thing is that the insurance money for the car finally came through - hurrah. The search for a new car should cheer dh up a bit.

Chloe55 · 19/11/2007 13:45

Flame, hope things sort themselves out soon.

MrCSWS - yuk!!!

Happy belated birthday Lex

Well, after 3 days of an extremely light period I have now started with an extremely heavy period , not thinking too much into it but hope my body is either pg or back to normal next month.

I have a new to me but used car - a Mazda Premacy, it's big which I am sooooooooo not used to after driving an old knackered Peugeot 106 for so long but it is so comfy and drives so smoothly, I love it. We can't afford it really though so we are very daft indeed.

Flame · 19/11/2007 13:47

Awww, I'm sorry - will add you to my list now!

for all your stuff going on

Yay for new car!!!

OP posts:
Flame · 19/11/2007 13:50

these are the gloves that DS loved CSWS

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 14:48

Awww - you should have bought him a pair in raspberry and made him wear them . Thanks for looking. I got a not very nice or soft (but cheap) pair of gloves from Claire's today, so these will have to tide her over until I can check out the M&S near us for the yummy pink ones.

Yay for new car, and fingers crossed for a Christmas bonus then!

mm - you can come and talk to us when you're feeling down too you know. Hope the results are helpful tomorrow.

for vomiting mrm. Will ds2 be passing it on to boy this afternoon? Hope not! Did you ladies go to the strip joint coffee shop today?

Jas. I thought that your game would be the most challenging, so wanted to leave it until I had time to concentrate! Have just done it now. In fact flame's was harder, because she said B had chosen the colours, and I was therefore adamant that pink must be in it somewhere .

for flameboy's night. Keeping fingers crossed that it was just tummyache, and that he loves it tonight.

Went and saw wheelybug in the flesh today. They are smaller than I thought they would be (although woman did change her mind a few times about whether the one she had left was small or large!), but nice. She had the cow in stock, but usually has the mouse too, which is also her favourite. She assures me that the ears don't get in the way (her dd is a few weeks younger). Now dh and I just have to debate which one to get between the cow and the mouse (cow is my second choice though).

Snow had all gone by this morning btw.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 16:23

dd was given a wooden advent calendar last year, with 24 v small boxes. I don't want to put sweets/chocs in them all, so can I have ideas from you lot please before I (possibly) open it up to a wider audience?

Flame · 19/11/2007 16:24

How small is very small?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2007 16:28

Well I haven't seen it for 11 months, but it's not entirely dissimilar to this.

Flame · 19/11/2007 16:31

Oooh you need little animals n stuff like the one in here (Or just buy that one instead )

OP posts:
UniS · 19/11/2007 16:46

EPPM- the remote control dumper truck is V simple. one button. press for go forward, press again for back and turn, press again for go forward. Also runs Ok with out being powered so can use as a push along floor toy. I've had it for years and its been up in the loft for a while. Boy won;t have seen it before tho. origally bought for Dh the year I said I'll get you a dumper truck coz you don;t have any ideas.
CSWS - tiny boxes big enough for Lego/duplo people? or key on ring or beads on string? stickers? hair slides?

Flame · 19/11/2007 19:26

Copied from my beds thread

I know 2 mins in is a tad optimistic, but he was playing on the floor, I turned the light off before tucking in DD (some light coming from the bathroom, so not completely dark) - he came up behind me and whimpered to get into bed. Let me tuck him in happily and is drinking his bottle

OP posts:
Mamamoor · 19/11/2007 19:30

Thanks people. Feel a bit pathetic really when things are so much worse for others. Last straw today was having to buy some threadworm tablets since dd1 and dh have been complaining of itchy bums!!! - lovely!!!
Anyway enough about that!!!

Suggestions for advent calendar:
box of raisins
little cheapy bracelet
chubby crayon (?)
sparkly hair clip
her fave little toy animals

Am having great problems with Xmas. Have decided have spent too many years stressing about buying the right present and getting it wrong so am going to buy adults some luxury foodie type things from local Waitrose. Will think a bit harder about the kids!

Jas · 19/11/2007 20:08

Flame I hope he stays in bed!

Eeew Mamamoor @ threadworms. Your adults plan sounds like a good one. How many/what age children do you buy for?

Oh, Flame - whan you are adding o your stats post, don' forget UniS.

Dumper truk sounds great. DS is getting lots of little people stuff.

csws - I can't think of anyhing not already suggested for your advent boxes....tiny board books? Finger puppets (set of ten really cheap in Ikea)?

I'm supposed to be at mrm omorrow, not today. How is he now? I'm guessing cancelling may be best. Boy has a cold, but I really don't want another sick bug now. Also dd2s after school club has been cancelled,so if Ido come I will have to leave early.
Unless I hear that he's been fine all daytoday I'll assume the worst and go shopping tomorrow instead.

DP has removed the top 3 rows of bricks from our bedroom wall so now I can see the landing through it. Wasn't as messy as we feared. There really is no excuse not to do the joists tomorrow, now

Yay for th new car Chloe

Flame · 19/11/2007 20:35

Did she give stats in the end?
