Here we go again...

flashbangfoxy · 03/11/2007 18:38

Oh Trace, I'm so sorry. Thats just another crap thing for you to deal with. I don't blame you for wanting this year done, when's it going to end? (The crap stuff that is, I know when the year ends of course!)

Oh wise ones, I need to call upon some wisdom and sense here.

I need to explain the concept of 'respect' to my 6 and 4 year olds. I'm struggling to make them understand (and I'm extremely narked off with them). Any ideas? I thought I'd come here first but I might start a thread.

flashbangfoxy · 03/11/2007 18:54

oooh, milestone today! Lo rolled all the way over. She can officially fall off the sofa, the bed and any other surface!!

justbeme · 03/11/2007 19:11

Wow Foxy!!! L is showing no inclination to roll AT ALL! although she loves being pulled to sit by her hands and then pulled up to stand.

Do you mean respect for YOU or for others/or for possessions?

Hi TRace - ohh sounds painful - tell me, what are your symptoms? for spd thingy.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 03/11/2007 19:28

Trace, sorry to hear about your spine and SPD. I had a disc bulging between vertebrae a number of years back, so know how that feels, can only imagine beyond that.

No signs of wanting to roll here either. She does like sitting though, and does fairly well at it with a bit of support.

BadZelda · 03/11/2007 19:39

Sorry to hear about your aches Trace - the last thing you need. Are they going to be able to sort you any physio? Crutches with a baby must be a nightmare.

R.e. sitting / rolling - I wonder are they either sitters or rollers? Just ask because DD1 was crawling at six mo, but didn't learn to sit unsupported till much later (8/9 mo) but some of her peers are the other way round completely. Was hoping for slightly later crawling this time round, but it doesn't look that way either - maybe due to the fact that I'm always putting her down on her tummy and then getting distracted by something else. Poor thing has had too much baby pushup practice.

I'd LOVE legwarmers for the girls: they're so cute on kids. Was even considering knitting some! Where did you get them, Holly?

BadZelda · 03/11/2007 19:45

Foxy r.e. respect: I haven't a clue! If you find out be sure to let me know. I've been trying to do a chart of DD's behaviour (stars/black marks, along with a little description of the relevant behaviour). Yesterday I said to her 'that's two bad things you've done! A black mark for your chart!'. The reply 'It's TWO black marks ACTUALLY Mummy.'
I despair!

HellHathNoFury · 03/11/2007 19:54

bleuuuurrrggghhhhhh

BadZelda · 03/11/2007 19:57

Oh no - are you still vomiting? make sure you keep your fluids up!

Sputnik · 03/11/2007 20:23

Trace, you have been through so much this year, I bet you're sick of the sight of doctors too. I was just reading your other thread, hope you can get some answers for Chloe soon.

BadZ, what you were saying about crawling/sitting is really interesting. DD could sit at 5 months but didn't crawl til 1. I put that down partly to our tile floors as she actually did her 1st crawl at my mums with lots of soft carpets. Baby Sputnik is also sitting quite well, but keels over after a minute or 2.

Sputnik · 03/11/2007 20:28

Also not rolling yet. I have this theory that babies concentrate on 1 thing at a time, and develpment isn't a smooth thing but goes in bursts, depending on what skill they're working on (and sometimes what you are encouraging)

andiem · 03/11/2007 20:35

evening all sorry been awol but rl was really been getting in the way

to cut a long story short we paid very reputable tile company (fired earth) lodsa dosh to tile bathroom and it is pants have been counselling dh who normally does all diy since thurs he bitterly regrets letting them do it. It loooks fine and I love the tiles but they trashed the house and drive so spent all yesterday cleaning up and still haven't finished

anyway
Trace sorry you still need answers for chloe but lol you lot with your leg warmers for babies

Foxy re behaviour I just use the that makes me sad approach and so far it has worked but I did have an only until this year so no egging on

Fury hope you feel better soon try to eat as normally as possible high fat foods if poss to maximise calorie intake it reduces the recovery time

BZ my DS2 is rolling a bit but not all the way over mind you his brother only did it once and then he commando crawled so we'll see what happens this time

Fairy and annobal are we still on for wed what time??????

trace2 · 03/11/2007 20:46

whats up wi legs warmers they great lol,

thank you for good wishers , as for spd its just like when i was pg but wi out the presure of baby insde, but it moves and click very loud people turn to look when it happens when we out!
as for turning over its a no here as you may guess,
as any of you tried the bumbo seat?

BadZelda · 03/11/2007 20:50

I tried a friend's bumbo with DD1...not for long though, as despite the manufacturer's claims she managed to escape from it fairly rapidly.

trace2 · 03/11/2007 20:53

BadZelda oh i was thinking of getting one to help chloe sit up, and they so expensixe too , i thinkill give it a miss

andiem · 03/11/2007 20:59

I have one trace and ds sort of likes it but he can only use it for short times. BZ they now have a warning on them that says some children may be able to get out of it. They are 26.95 in john lewis

trace2 · 03/11/2007 21:04

do you think its worth the money? andiem

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 03/11/2007 21:08

A work colleague of DH is going to loan us a bumbo. And MIL and FIL are getting one of these for DD for Xmas (though we might put it into use as soon as we get it)

OP posts:
Sputnik · 03/11/2007 21:11

You have my sympathies Andiem, we had our bathrooms redone last winter and it was a really messy business

andiem · 03/11/2007 21:12

I think it certainly would help with sitting up early and they are well supported in it but I can see that ds feels a bit insecure in it at the mo so I only put him in it for short periods. He has that scared look on his face after about 10 mins.

Sputnik · 03/11/2007 21:21

Trace, looks like you could probably get a bumbo for around a tenner on ebay

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 03/11/2007 21:28

Hello

I got DDs bumbo seat from e-bay. They're pretty sturdy and easy to clean so should be in good condition 2nd hand.

4 weddings on ch4 atm - great film

Just ordered this for Xmas....just can't help myself

BadZelda · 03/11/2007 21:35

Well DD1 was a right wriggler. The friend who lent it to me happily used it up to 2 for her LO - v handy for feeding as well - so don't let me put you off. And I'm sure they are more affordable on ebay?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 03/11/2007 21:37

I'm off to bed. Hope we all have quiet nights

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 03/11/2007 21:39

Goodnight MJ

How are you feeling Fury?

andiem · 03/11/2007 21:51
