I think they're all like that - man blindness.
My DH has this thing that we never need to go shopping, whatever we're out of, we can find a substitute
"We've run out of nappies"
"Oh, can't you just use a towel or a carrier bag?"
Not really, but yswim!

phdlife · 19/10/2007 10:14

lol, SMB, yesss

liath · 19/10/2007 10:18

SBM

I'm not so sure about these pasties . I decided to try and make the pastry more authentically Working Class and used lard as well as butter and it looks and smells a bit odd. Oh well. Off to the butcher once ds wakes up to get the meat for them......

Ouch @ the 5.30 wake up, oooggs.

POTC · 19/10/2007 10:23

the falafel was just cos it sounded good with fluffles
and no, csa take into account further children but not partners income, mum used it to get out of paying anything for any of the 4 of us

Hi POTC what are you going to study?

CaptainDippy · 19/10/2007 10:45

Yes - what are you going to study hon??

Sort of vauguely caught up VERY tired this am, went to NCT Quiz Night last night, didn't finish til half 11 - knackered!!

CaptainDippy · 19/10/2007 10:46

Morning to all btw!

SharpMolarBear · 19/10/2007 10:46

Did you win though??

nappynuttynormabutty · 19/10/2007 11:05

Morning Dippy!

I need to stop lurking on MN and get on with stuff...someone kick me off!!!!

CaptainDippy · 19/10/2007 11:11
Bramshott · 19/10/2007 11:19

Ooh, I do like falafel!

SOL - we have had a few more wet beds recently, and I think it's because N is so tired with school that she doesn't wake up if she needs a wee. We are averaging about 2 a week for the last couple of weeks, when previously none for weeks and weeks.

Pinions - have been meaning for an AGE to reply to your question about working vs not working, but have been too busy with work to do it!!

I thought after DD1 that I was desperate not to work, tried it for 9 months and hated it with a passion! I remember thinking "what is there to get up for in the mornings", and trying frantically to fill the time without getting too bored. But at least I tried it, so now when I have fantasies about not working and how nice it would be, I can remind myself that however busy I am now, I did try that, and it didn't suit me!! I'm lucky that I have a job I love, and I can work from home and finish in time to pick N up from school, but I do definitely think I need work to give me an identity - sad in a way I guess, but I do.

Eddas · 19/10/2007 11:20

woo hoo, finally managed to set my profile up, only took a year

nappynuttynormabutty · 19/10/2007 11:29

Am lurking still cos I can't find the technical stuff I want...ARGH I don't understand computers!!!!

CaptainDippy · 19/10/2007 11:37

Sigh - being a parent is sooooo bloody complicated, isn't it, Bramshott!!? I neeeeed (and want!) to go back to work, but know I will feel guilty and mis myh oniesl ike crazy if/when I do .....

Eddas - Well Done!! - On the profile - loving your beauitful children - absolutely PMSL @ your little man in his "Fairy Gear"!! That is exactly what will happen if we ever have a boy, poor sod!

Bramshott, I think you are right. B went to her school disco last night God love her, and I think she was knackered! On of the little boys who went didn't wake until 9.00 today!!

cazboldy · 19/10/2007 12:22

Hi again all
My brother's getting married tomorrow!
Ds 1 is an usher, dd1 is a bridesmaid.
How the hell am I going to get us all ready in time and remeber to take everything i need for the whole day??? Taking 5 kids and dh out for a day is like going on a trip for a month!!!

SharpMolarBear · 19/10/2007 12:26

ah thank you nutty!
cazboldy, I wish I could advise but it takes me till lunch time at least to get me and one baby ready, so I'm probably not the best person! Hope you enjoy the wedding, and your LOs enjoy their parts

Bramshott · 19/10/2007 13:06

CD - don't feel guilty. I feel quite strongly that it's important, particularly for girls to see their mums are working - having a life, contributing financially etc. Mothers have always worked - this emphasis on mothers staying at home as the perfect setup started in the 50s when the govt were trying to persuade women back into the home to free up jobs for returning servicemen. That said, I am glad that I have the choice not to work full time, but I don't judge people who for whatever reason need to do that.

Blimey, I sounded quite militant there!! !!

SharpMolarBear · 19/10/2007 13:09

Hi Bramshott
Stay and chat! Work is overrated

Idreamofbroomsticks · 19/10/2007 13:39

Afternoon, Sort of caught up, but have sieve brain so can't rememer much apart from poorly babies, mummies and dogs. Hope you all start feeling better soon . And Pesha, M's dad is a selfish arse. My bro is in a similar situation in that his DP has 2 kids from a previous marriage and their dad does everything in his power to ensure he doesn't have to contribute a penny. I think he has to pay something like £5 per week. It makes me so angry as he still expects to see the kids, but expects my bro to pay from them.

Well, looked at 2 houses this week, but neither was right for us. The one today was out of our price range, but was smaller than our current house (but in a better area). Can see that finding a house is going to be a v e r y l o n g and drawn out experience.

Went out for a meal round a friend's house last night, got in at midnight and feel shattered now. And the worst part is I'm going out again tonight (meal & cinema with friends). DH is a tad pissed off .

SharpMolarBear · 19/10/2007 13:41

ooh idob you dirty stop out!
