I think all that talk of superheroes made us all a bit feisty

OP posts:

I've registered there HHNF, but it was ages ago and there were very few ads. It looks to be getting much busier now that Nappy Lady has packed in. I like the way it is a bit more regimented than general classified as well.

My DD has been asleep since 9am....I hope she wakes soon as my right boob is fit to burst!

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 10:20

Feeding time here as well.....I had to wake DD from her nap this morning after over 1.5 hours.....she needs much more sleep than GF says

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:21

It is pretty busy - worth noting is that a lot of stuff sells really quickly too, most of my stuff has been sold a day or so after listing but a few of the odder bits have been there a couple of weeks.

bumperlicious · 12/10/2007 10:22

I think part of the problem is somewhere along the line we went from a nice pattern of feeding every 3 hours of so (not enforced, didn't let DD cry for food, suited us both) but since the feeding became a problem we went back to total demand feeding, and haven't been able to get out of it, so it used to be that I knew her penultimate feed would be between 6.30 and 7ish, but now it's all gone a bit tits up so to speak!

God, I'm always on here with one problem or another, am I:

a) v whingy and co-dependent
b) a bad mother
c) just being a PFB mother?!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:26

I really liked diddy diapers, so easy to use, slim and fitted well, but they took FOREVER to dry and I like stuff that dries really quickly, esp now the clothes line is out of action. DH hates the house being one big airing room! So thought I'd try the micro ones which apparently dry faster.

Will wait and see though, I used fluffles (also microfibre) on DS and didn't get on with them at all.

I love my swaddlebees and I am still umming and ahhing about selling them. Nice and slim and very soft but prone to the odd leak. Sometimes they last forever though? Must be a fitting thing. If I find something I like better I will sell them. Good old MEOS are great though! I just find them way too bulky for daytime.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:28

Bumper you are none of the above! You are like me, a first timer, and we are all just finding our way!

Maybe a bit of PFB though but that's not a bad thing hey.

I am really no expert - but I think it may be worth trying something new. You have nothing to lose, right? Maybe only a bit of sleep!

IamDaisy · 12/10/2007 10:32

you missed out

d) all of the above

don't be silly bumper, you are just being a first time mum who has had to hit the ground running and is learning new things everyday as well as trying to do all the million and one other things that life demands....add to that a house move and of course things are going to get wobbly.

and don't underestimate what you have achieved; you have kept going with the BF even though there have been some tough times, you have packed up and moved house and unpacked at the other end with a baby attached to your boobs, you are looking after the house and your DD and your DH, and have what appears to be a pretty hectic social life with DD.

You are doing a great job

I must admit I feel much more relaxed about things with DD than I did with DS, and less inclined to go to lots of P&B groups, but then again I suppose I already have a few friends with DCs in place.

bumperlicious · 12/10/2007 10:33

well, last night she finished feeding about 9.45 and we left her and she didn't wake up till 7 as usual, so that was ok. we couldn't have left her any earlier as she refused to be put down.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:35

What Daisy said

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:35

9.45-7 is good!?!

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 10:36

Ds usually goes from 9.30-6.30 so I think you are fine!!!

bumperlicious · 12/10/2007 10:41

i think that's part of it daisy, i go to a lot of these groups because i am desperate to make friends! it was difficult even before dd coz we have only lived here a few years.

looking forward to my bt vision being fixed and i ca just spend a day chilling out a watching trash!

I am actually much more relaxed and laid back now than before having dd, but still suffer a lot from having too high expectations. it ruined my pregnancy and my birth, not going to let it ruin this time with dd.

right, happy face. dh is home today, though he has to work the rest of the weekend.

eek, just found a stretchmark on my boob! thought i'd got away with it! (on my boobs anyway. i've got a london a-z on my tummy!)

bumperlicious · 12/10/2007 10:43

i know, we are lucky with our nights, just need to crack the evenings! i need lots of sleep. slept 11-7 last night and still v tired!

IamDaisy · 12/10/2007 10:49

am off to wake DD up.....I'm leaking now

milkyJammy · 12/10/2007 10:54

Morning all

just back from getting her cough checked by the doc before we go away. Says chest is clear thankfully. Unfortunately have missed half of Rhyme Time at the library, but never mind.

Re microfibre diddy diapers - yes they dry a lot faster. They still fit her quite well, whereas the normal diddys are very tight, I think they must shrink a bit compared to the microfibre ones?

milkyJammy · 12/10/2007 10:59

Agree with wanting to make friends, Bumper. I didn't know anyone in our area other than one woman from work. It is slowly happening through going to groups - have a new mum friend visiting this afternoon - but think will take time. Gentle perseverance seems to be the way forward - keep going to the groups and generally being pleasant. I think once you get friendly with one or two of the other mums it gets easier. Am certainly hoping so! (I think it also helps if you're good with names, which I'm not unfortunately)

Sputnik · 12/10/2007 11:11

Bumper you are
d) very sensibly seeking advice and support from people who aree in the same boat

BTW, did you see todays online chat thing here? it's a chat with a psychologist about getting some me time so maybe right up your street.

milkyJammy · 12/10/2007 11:20

I had some me time last night and felt so much better for it. Actually wanted to snuggle DH when I got home

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 11:22

Glad you got out in the end MJ - enjoy yourself? Did you miss DD?

LittleMissNorty · 12/10/2007 11:23

"snuggle" yeah, we know what you mean

milkyJammy · 12/10/2007 11:28

No, I didn't miss DD Am getting used to the odd couple of hours without her, and after the long screaming session yesterday afternoon I was actually quite relieved. Also I knew she was asleep before I went out, so wasn't actually missing anything IYSWIM

milkyJammy · 12/10/2007 11:30

And it was pretty much just snuggling honest but yes, if I'd had the energy there might have been more to it.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 11:33

HAHAHAHAHA

DH and I are often too tired to 'snuggle'

I just did my weekly shop at tescos. I hate tescos but there is a massive one next door to the office. Very convenient, now I don't have to face the Sainsburys rush at the weekend. Get paid to shop. Love it.

riabutterflew · 12/10/2007 11:37

Hi.

have just taken my big pram to the person who bought it. Am very . Feel like I have sold my soul to the devil. FFS it's not as if I've sold the bloody baby.

Am seriously knackered and miserable. Think I might be reaching rock bottom on the AD side-effects, if so I will be gone until I perk up.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

HellHathNoFury · 12/10/2007 11:37

DH toyed with the idea of us growing our own veg but since I went back to work we just ended up with a load of overgrown pak choi and a billion slugs in the garden.
