@UKtoSK oh my goodness! What a mess. I went to make a coffee the other day and put the coffee cup under the perfect prep Machine instead of the Nespresso!

@Cornishbumpkin did your DS sleep most of the way. My DH and I travelled to our home town which is 2 hrs from London. She slept in the car, then skipped an afternoon nap and was very tired at bedtime.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/09/2020 07:28

@Magpie21 @UKtoSK a few weeks ago I poured boiled kettle water on my cereal instead of milk ha honestly sleep deprivation is horrific

@Cornishbumpkin soooo jealous my little one hates the car seat we wanted to go away in sep but I honestly can't face the drive

BabyBird20 · 05/09/2020 07:49

@Magpiefeather What type of sling do you have that works? I have an ergo baby but it's so bulky I can't get much done when he's in it!

BabyBird20 · 05/09/2020 08:01

@mrssunshinexxx I put my tea bag in the cereal bowl ready to make tea and got in the shower with my socks on!! I can't wait to sleep again!! Just 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep... even 6 would do!!

mrssunshinexxx · 05/09/2020 08:15

@BabyBird20 😂crazy times

Pegase · 05/09/2020 10:19

@Cornishbumpkin my baby's natural sleep cycle is 26 minutes exactly! She won't sleep a minute longer in the crib in the day!

Blizy · 05/09/2020 12:05

A couple of weeks ago I poured boiling kettle water on my hand instead of in the bottle!

Rose had her surgery last week, it went well. She now finishes a feed in 20 mins as opposed to 2 hours! She was weighed in at 10lb2oz at 11 weeks old, let's hope she piles the weight on now!

Smiffette · 05/09/2020 12:16

@Blizy oh my Goodness that looks so sore! Hope it's healed up ok.

SearchingTheSkies · 05/09/2020 12:31

@Blizy Ouch!! Hope you're ok. Glad your little one's surgery went well - must be a relief to have shorter feeds now.

@UKtoSK That did make me laugh, but I also hope the clean up wasn't too arduous.

Gigitree · 05/09/2020 13:51

Oh gosh @blizy that looks so painful

@uktosk oh dear 🙈😂 I bet that was fun to clear up!

Magpie21 · 05/09/2020 13:52

@Blizy oh my goodness!! Hope you heal well.
I was meaning to message you to see how your daughter was getting on. So glad that things are already better.

Magpiefeather · 05/09/2020 14:27

@BabyBird20 I bought a second hand stretchy wrap sling from eBay for £10, ours is a Boba but I just got what was available at the time. Any stretchy wrap would do. DS loves it as it feels so womb like. It’s weird when he wriggles in it even to me it feed like he’s back in the womb!

Magpiefeather · 05/09/2020 14:28

Ouch @blizy you poor thing! So glad the surgery went well,
Hope little one is recovering ok.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/09/2020 16:50

Can anyone recommend either the ergo baby or baby bjorn one carrier?

NelliePig · 05/09/2020 18:29

For a really comfy baby carrier we have the boppy comfy fit. It's a hybrid between a stretchy wrap and a carrier, but so much more supportive for me and my partner. Neither of us get a backache with the little one in it! It's cheap too, I actually choose it over my ergobaby every time x

BabyBird20 · 05/09/2020 18:59

@mrssunshinexxx we loved the baby bjorn mini for the early days, he slept in it all the time but now he's bigger it's a killer on the back!

Pegase · 05/09/2020 20:53

We have ergobaby 360. I haven't had a go yet but DH uses it daily! I am using a stretchy wrap for round the house

Cornishbumpkin · 05/09/2020 22:12

@Magpie21 he slept pretty much the whole way as we left at 8.30pm, he was awake the first hour but then slept, I managed to keep him asleep and dream feed him when we stopped and let him stretch out then he stayed asleep when we arrived at 1.30am, did another dream feed and slept till 6am!

@mrssunshinexxx now that we've removed the newborn insert he's much happier in his car seat, we found it was pressing into him cause he's quite a big lad... however he's only happy whilst the car is moving, if we do much as stop at a red light for longer than 30 seconds he cries lol. Also we didn't get on with the baby Bjorn carrier, found one on amazon that was much comfier and only £25

@Pegase I don't know why but I find it so fascinating when babies do exactly what the textbook says they should be doing. Amazing that your little one is so precise

@Blizy you poor thing that looks so sore!

mrssunshinexxx · 05/09/2020 22:48

I'm picking up baby bjorn one carrier tomorrow I've been using the baby bjorn mini until now all lllllll the time I love it so I'm 🤞I like the other one

UKtoSK · 06/09/2020 06:03

@Blizy oh gosh your poor hand!! That must have been so painful! Glad your baby’s surgery went well x

Yes thank you everyone my washing machine survived haha going to be very careful from now on! It’s happened to a few people we know, some multiple times! Everyone check your washing basket before you shove everything in haha. Ours is a top loader to I literally just dump the whole basket in in one go.

Gigitree · 06/09/2020 13:27

Grace is 11 weeks as of yesterday and suddenly her nightime sleep has got worse. She was starting to have a nice long stretch early on of 4 hours (occasionally more like 5 or 6) but now it’s back to 2.5/3 and she’s sooooo restless it feels like, she does down about 10pm and is sound asleep and then before long she is fidgeting and flapping her arms and legs about all over the place.

Anyone else find their baby’s sleep suddenly went a bit shit at around 11 weeks? Did it then get better again? I don’t know if it’s just a growth spurt?

SRS1311 · 06/09/2020 14:14

@Gigitree I know someone whose baby has just turned 12 weeks and they said their sleeping at night had got worse and he was waking up every hour. I know theres the so called 4 month sleep regression but seems a bit early for that. My wonder weeks app says they go through a developmental leap at 12 weeks so more likely to be that, says it lasts about a week so hopefully not too much disruption.

Missgemini · 06/09/2020 14:44

@gigitree my son is turning 12 weeks tomorrow and we had a mare last night. Tried putting him to bed from 8pm after bath and that whole event carried on until 2am. My husband and I were so confused. He's never done that before, and he wasn't in pain or anything like that. Looking back, sleep over the last few days haven't been great.

Missgemini · 06/09/2020 14:54

Ladies, I've been wondering. What are your childcare plans for when and if you return to work? I know it's a while away for most, but we've been looking at the different options. Nurseries and childminders are quite expensive (in London anyway). We are looking at the childminder option and potentially au pair as husband works from home. What are you guys thinking to do?

Pegase · 06/09/2020 15:23

We live in London too. Childminder @ £60/ day for three days a week and nursery for other two days. Can't remember how much that is- maybe £70.

Cm looked after our first and I completely trust her to do the best for our children. She does shorter hours than nursery though and less convenient location. Otherwise I would want to use her everyday. Personally I prefer childminder until 3/4 when socialisation with bigger groups of children becomes more important as prep for school. But we are using nursery as well anyway as no other choice!
