@Gigitree 😂 just prioritised it as we arent even sleeping in the same bed so want to keep close we don't do it as often as either of us would like as I usually do choose sleep .. or a bath! X

Elsie92 · 04/09/2020 14:18
@Elsie92 ours is getting on for 9 weeks and only just started to not make as much noise when sleeping - hes so noisy! Hope he completely grows out of it soon as it's hard sleeping next to him and me and DH have to take it in turns

@zoey92 we are coming up to 48 hrs after the jabs, he isnt eating much at all and seems more fussy and unhappy, hope this passes soon

@Gigitree I had a natural birth but with forceps and episiotomy followed by stitches. Took me a couple of weeks to recover and then of course up the wall with the baby and so tired. It's literally the last thing I want to do. But men just dont seem to get it, dont think they have to be "in the mood" they're always in the mood! Grin
To be honest the sounds he makes are quite funny, he doesn't look in pain or uncomfortable though which is good my first born never made these sounds.. 🙊

NelliePig · 04/09/2020 15:00

Another one here just having condoms. The pill actually made me feel really anxious prior to stopping 6 months before trying for a baby I'd been on it since I was 15. I didnt realise how much better I felt when I came off it!

How is everyone getting on with naps? My little one has just started going down on her own for day time naps now but they only last 30 mins, if I hold her for her nap she will sleep for 2 hours! Whyyyyyyyyyy Hmm

Busylizzie85 · 04/09/2020 16:06

@NelliePig we are struggling with naps 😳 Ivy will only sleep one me to start or in her buggy or the car! Once down the most she'll sleep is 45 mins but most of the time I get 20-30 mins

OP posts:
Pegase · 04/09/2020 16:06

@NelliePig we have the same issue with naps- I choose to hold her for the two hours and read rather than have her up again in 30 minutes!

babbafett · 04/09/2020 16:26

@NelliePig we are in the same boat with naps. I love our cuddles on the couch but sometimes I'd love a nap myself, pee or eat food that isnt made and eaten with one hand! If I get desperate and need a pee, his eyes open within seconds of me putting him down. The other day he did sleep for about 20 mins on his own but it appeared to be fluke. He used to sleep in his pram but that's hit and miss these days which has put a spanner in the works with me trying to get a decent walk in each day
Anyone out there have experience of this getting better. I need hope!

NelliePig · 04/09/2020 16:37

@Busylizzie85 @babbafett @Pegase
Ahh, sorry to hear you all have the same! I have to choose between putting her down for 30 mins and rushing to get a job done or holding her for 2 hours so I can relax and chill out with some TV and I'll admit (a cheeky glass of wine or gin some days).

We breastfeed so I dont think it helps she feeds to sleep, no wonder she can't settle herself Grin

Pegase · 04/09/2020 16:47

I've decided it is actually easier to get things done when baby awake as she can't be played with too long anyway as gets overstimulated. We have just invested in one of those Tripp trapp chairs with a newborn seat so she sits in that and I talk to her while we make dinner. Bouncer or play mat while I'm in the loo!

Gigitree · 04/09/2020 17:14

We seem to have the opposite problem in that Grace naps almost too well 🙈
She will have one long nap during the day of around 3.5 hours and then the rest of the time she has little cat naps on me 🤷🏼‍♀️

As much as this seems like bliss it’s actually really annoying because then I’m forever stressing whether I should be waking her or not and it’s never at the same time each day so I can’t predict when it will be 🤷🏼‍♀️

Gigitree · 04/09/2020 17:15

Totallyagree with you @Elsie92 DH doesn’t get that I don’t want just a little quickie when she’s asleep, I want to sleep too! 😂

SearchingTheSkies · 04/09/2020 18:28

Also struggling with daytime naps. It's so obvious DD needs a proper sleep but she just won't go down for more than about 30 mins. If anyone has any tips, please share! We're at 10 weeks - will this improve?

Zoey92 · 04/09/2020 18:54

@gigitree i had 2nd degree tear, had a slight period 4wks after labour...i think. Definitely did not use tampons.
Having my 2nd period now and I'm ok using them.

LO has been quite settled throughout the day with my OH and my mam while I've been at work, she's very sleepy and seem to have a slightly snotty nose too.
Shes Definitely had tummy ache too judging by the wind thats coming out the other end.
Hopefully a good nights sleep tonight & she'll be a little bit more like herself tomorrow.

Zoey92 · 04/09/2020 18:56

@SearchingTheSkies my LO is the same during the day 30mins, if I'm lucky a good hour sometimes.
Shes more in a routine when it comes to bedtime than during the day

NelliePig · 04/09/2020 19:36

I use the sling often when I'm at home. I can sling her and clean the kitchen (or other mundane job). She gets a 30 minute nap and I get a clean kitchen! A good sling is a life saver imo!

Magpie21 · 04/09/2020 20:07

Another one here with the choice of a 2 hour nap on Mummy it a 20 min cat nap in the pram for the daytime naps. I'm just letting her sleep on me for now as I feel it's better she gets the sleep than not.

babbafett · 04/09/2020 21:15

I think the same way @magpie21 Plus our nights are good so I dont want to mess things up by getting bogged down in trying to get him to sleep in his moses basket. I will have to start trying the sling as Nelliepig said, more just to be able to make some healthier food, I keep reaching for the chocolate bars during his naps.

Magpiefeather · 04/09/2020 21:17

Yeah same here, I tend to choose baby napping on me apart from first nap of the day when I put him in his cot so I can have a shower. Just enough time to shower and get dressed! The next nap I usually do in the sling which will be a good 3 hours. Can have a good morning out with the eldest and get back home again for lunch before he wakes up.

I tend to play it by ear a bit in the afternoon but I think I’ll just start putting him in the sling then as well when he gets tired. He’s happy, and I can have use of my hands!

One thing I would not advise is changing the bed with baby in the sling. I’ve done that once only - harder than it sounds! I was very much out of puff haha.

Zoey92 · 04/09/2020 21:40

Well im starting to think LO has colic we've just had a huge episode for nearly 2hrs. I even had a few tears with her as OH is on nightshift and i felt quite lost and flustered.

babbafett · 04/09/2020 22:18

@Zoey92 you poor thing. You have my sympathy. My DH does night shifts and I dread them at times.

mrssunshinexxx · 04/09/2020 22:58

@babbafett I've mastered going for wees with baby now she will not be put down and I do anything I can not to wake her prematurely I think it's really important to wake on their own naturally.
She is having the advised 3 naps a day for her age they are all on me on sofa or in the sling she hates the pram and car seat she will sleep for 1 hour /90 min in morn then she will do a decent 2/3 hours 2ish then in the evening in sofa she can sleep for upto 3/4 hours
I would love to get her snoozing in the pram on walks but I'm just reminding myself they are tiny and clingy for such a short time in the grand scheme so I'm just saviouring it all

Cornishbumpkin · 05/09/2020 00:14

I read that babies this age sleep in 25-30 min sleep cycles and can find it difficult to transition from one to the next, if they are held it helps them transition and thus they sleep longer. It's something they learn to do as they get a bit older during one of their leaps I believe. I just keep thinking how little time I have to enjoy our afternoon sofa cuddles so am making the most of them. The housework can wait 😋

mrssunshinexxx · 05/09/2020 02:33

Definitely @Cornishbumpkin x

UKtoSK · 05/09/2020 03:13

I’m also favouring long naps on me vs short naps in her bed, and I just rush around getting things done when she’s awake. Yesterday I got desperate for a wee after two hours and made the mistake of waking her up. It’s hard when breastfeeding makes you so thirsty anyway.

Also good to hear most of us are in the same boat re: sex, as in having zero interest. We have tried a few times but it was too painful but finally managed it a few days ago (at 8.5 weeks) it was all for my husband! It’s not just the pain or the tiredness but it’s mostly the fact that my body belongs to my baby most of the day, between feedings and being her favourite nap spot or just having to hold her... as much as I love all the cuddles, once she’s asleep in her crib I just want to not be touched by anyone for a while! I even get annoyed at my cat trying to sit on my lap these days.

Hope this makes some of you laugh. I unloaded the washing machine yesterday to find not one, not two, but THREE (used!) nappies had somehow got mixed in with the clothes and one had exploded some kind of jelly substance alllll over everything and all inside the washing machine 😫😫😫

Busylizzie85 · 05/09/2020 06:21

Oh god @UKtoSK that would be my worst nightmare 🙈
(it did make me laugh a little 😂)

Totally with you on not wanting to be touched at the end of the day @UKtoSK and oh no did your machine survive?

We've just come on our first long journey with little man to visit family, it's usually a four hour drive but with 2 stops we got here in about five hours and it was easier than I anticipated
