Those with teeth coming through, are you still breastfeeding? If so, how is that?
It's the one thing I'm dreading as LO has never taken to a bottle so it's me or nothing

Busylizzie85 · 13/12/2020 07:13

@Smiffette it hurt for a while mainly as Ivys latch had to change a bit but she's ok now! Occasionally she bites but not often.
Happy 6 months today x

How many teeth has Ivy got @Smiffette
@Busylizzie85 no change here yet to feeding but she only has one

I'm trying to get lo to take a bottle literally last 2 nights I sent dh in to have her for the night he lasted an hour she just won't take it I don't know if to just give sippy cup??

mrssunshinexxx · 13/12/2020 07:21

But she drinks from that with an open top I'm really worried about confusing her

Busylizzie85 · 13/12/2020 07:25

She has two at the bottom they came through in the same week about a month or more ago! x

It's @Busylizzie85 who has Ivy....

My LO has no teeth yet!

@Busylizzie85 Happy 6 Months!!
@Busylizzie85 mine is still falling out loads but it’s sooo frizzy where I have so many baby hairs growing back 😩 I have legit bald patches at the front so I can’t wear my hair up in a pony tail 😫😫
I didn't even realise this was the cause of frizziness! Have been despairing at my hair recently - at least I now know why!

Gigitree · 13/12/2020 10:39

I’m hoping that’s the cause @NeurologicallySpeaking otherwise I fear this might just be my new hair texture 😭

How much tv do you let your little ones watch? Sometimes it’s the only thing that will stop Grace whinging as she bloody loves Hey Duggee, sometimes I’m so grateful that at least I have something that will stop her whinging when I’ve tried everything else, but other times I feel so guilting for letting her watch TV at such a young age. She only watches probably 15-20mins total in a day broken up into 2/3 sessions, she loves it but I don’t want to rot her brain!

Busylizzie85 · 13/12/2020 11:37

@Gigitree Ivy watch's it all the time, our living area is tiny and so if I don't have the tv on I'll go mad during the day so she Inevitably watch's it. I try mostly to have CBeebies on she loves the baby group in the morning and hey duggee! I let her watch clangers and in the night garden depending on her bed time in the evenings. If we are able to get out more it wouldn't be so much of an issue. We did some zip lock bag art this week (lots of info if you google it) I used a canvas as I wanted to try and save the picture and I probably needed more paint but it's a nice idea if any one wants something different to do!
Thought I'd include a couple of pics for the 6 month mark 😊

In terms of your brain, it depends on whose guidelines you follow

NHS: no definitive answer on how much TV you should watch at any age. As long as you are not doing this instead of playing and engaging with your baby should be fine

WHO/US/Canada: no TV before 2 or 3 years old.

Personally I follow the WHO guidelines but am v much in the minority among my friends tbh who mostly go for a little a day.

MrsMarrio · 13/12/2020 17:26

Ds watches fireman Sam and nursery rhyme tv when he's not ready to fall asleep but getting a little unsettled in the daytime. He settles down then I'll try again to get him to sleep no more than an episode/song or two. I usually have to tv on during the day but just the music channels for background noise, maybe I should invest in a radio! He doesn't really watch this we are usually interacting with each other

UKtoSK · 14/12/2020 01:06

I have never played any kids TV for Jia, but when she was newborn I always had Netflix on to keep me entertained, but as she started paying attention to it I stopped watching it so much as she would only stare at the TV and do nothing else! Now if I want to watch something I put it on my iPad where she can’t see it lol when I’m home alone all day every day with her sometimes I just need some TV to stay sane! She’s less interested in it now that she can play with some toys etc, but I am wondering does the no TV before 2/3 guidelines include them just glancing at the TV when it’s on but not actually watching it? Or only actually sitting them down in front of an episode of something? I feel like I can’t even watch the news in the morning!

@Busylizzie85 Ivy is so cute! And that’s such a fun activity idea. I’m planning to make salt dough handprints this week, so I have a little paint, maybe I’ll give it a try!

Just had to hose Jia down in the bath because no amount of wet wipes would have been able to clean up the mess of her nappy this morning 😫🤣

Missgemini · 14/12/2020 11:22

Nice catching up with what all the babies have been up to.

@UKtoSk we've all been there with the poo where a hose down is needed! Haha

Our sleep is still a bit wonky. Trying to get LO to go to bed earlier in the evening. Current average bed time is 10 to 11.
But last night when he did get to sleep, he actually slept through. First time ever. More of this please! Haha

Over the last 2 weeks, he's now rolling back and forth at will, and does this weird dragging across the floor thing. Crawling seems to be on the horizon, which is quite exciting.
Has anyone noticed any 'ba ba' yet? He's been saying it loads since last week! Very cute :)

I'm sure just glancing at it is nothing to worry about. I mean they don't know for certain whether actually watching it properly is harmful or not - the evidence is conflicting hence different countries giving different guidelines.
Magpie21 · 14/12/2020 20:48

@Gigitree 20 mins a day broken up doesn't sound over the top to me. My LO has to put up with my Netflix choices, so she isn't interested. The Simpsons came on once and she did like the look of that though 😅

@Busylizzie85 Ivy looks so lovely! What a lovely play area she has there. Zip lock art looks fab. Did she try to put it in her mouth!? My LO would!! I need to buy a 'fake' real looking remote control because she is loving a remote lately. How do they know what isn't a toy!?

Does anyone have any recommendations for toys that your LO's love. I need to get some more bits. The jumperoo is a hit in our household but I don't like to leave her in there for v long. She still has the jungle gym up as she likes the hanging toys still.

@UKtoSK ha ha Jia! My LO literally has a poonami every day so I couldn't get away with not bathing her every day. I really hope weaning will thicken her poo up! Might have the other affect at times I'm sure.

Busylizzie85 · 14/12/2020 20:54

Oh @Magpie21 the bag went in her mouth immediately just like everything else 😂
We have a fake remote but Ivys not to interested in it! She tends to love the stuffed animals, she enjoys chewing the ears and tails of things 🤷🏻‍♀️ one of her favourite toys is ikkle pickle from in the night garden, her face just lights up when she plays with him plus if you push his belly it plays the start of the programme.

We had our first nursery visit today .wasn't allowed in , I had to leave him at the door 😢. Longest hour of my life ! He wasn’t phased at all though
, hopefully tomorrow’s hour is the same

Cornishbumpkin · 15/12/2020 20:05

Seems like they're all starting to hit the same sort of milestones. We have the TV on in the background some days (usually friends on Netflix!) he loves hey bear so will put that on if he's crabby or I need to get something done. I think it's personal choice with the tv thing, a lot of the American evidence I saw related to plonking a child in front of it instead of interacting so a little here and there won't hurt!
Freddie is rolling back to front and front to back all around the room now and blows raspberries pretty much all day, he's got both his bottom teeth (ouch on the breastfeeding front when he decided to clamp down earlier today) we started BLW Sunday, it's quite strange giving him proper food and the gagging really has my anxiety up but he seems to be loving it so far with cucumber a firm favourite, anyone else doing BLW?
@Busylizzie85 such a cutie!! That's a great idea, may have to get some crafty bits!
Oh @Mj2196 that must have been heartbreaking!!!
Picture of newborn and now, how much he's grown 😭

Cornishbumpkin · 15/12/2020 20:08

Can't get it to attach the photos 🤔

mrssunshinexxx · 15/12/2020 20:16

@Cornishbumpkin yep BLW. Here too and some purée but she spoon feeds herself. She has 1 tooth and I agree OUCh !
She's also blowing lots of raspberries and loads of babbling it's so sweet

Cucumber sticks the biggest favourite here too Xmas Grin
Mj2196 · 15/12/2020 21:12

@Cornishbumpkin I cried buckets. I’m dreading January 😫

Jj loves toast & sweet potato . Not a fan of avocado however. He has learnt to shriek extremely loudly 🙈 and we’re into 9-12 month clothes now . I’ve found mamas and papas are the only place we can get baby grows with built in mitts!

Cornishbumpkin · 15/12/2020 21:23

@mrssunshinexxx the noises are just the cutest!! Think I may add some purée in too so he's actually swallowing a bit more!

@NeurologicallySpeaking loving seeing his reaction to different foods!

@Mj2196 oh bless you! What a little cutie!! Haha we have a shrieker too! He looks so pleased with himself doing it at 8 o'clock in the morning! Our poor neighbours haha. Also about to go into 9-12 clothes :(

NeurologicallySpeaking · 15/12/2020 21:36

We are in 6-12/6-9 and 9-12 clothes and have been for past month! 😬

@Cornishbumpkin I just purée whatever the veg sticks are. So I roasted some butternut squash fingers and then puréed a couple of them. Served preloaded spoons of purée and some roasted fingers.

Cornishbumpkin · 15/12/2020 21:42

@NeurologicallySpeaking ah that's a good idea Thankyou
