Hows everyone qith the teething side of things LO has her first one peeking through at weekend. Shes been ok with it, we've had ALOT of drooling for a good 3weeks prior.
She's abit congested atm though, no temp, no cough, no running nose, taking bottles. Spoke to docs today & shes no cause for concern either ( maybe i was being paranoid FTM and all that) but better to be safe.
Bought the calpol vapour plug in yesterday, anyone tried one before?

Migrains are back with a vengeance, burnt my wrist on oven tonight, smashed a glass, yesterday i went to pay for my shopping and blocked my card by accident.....yeo one of those weeks

Pegase · 08/12/2020 21:05

@Magpie21 my LO will only sleep for 25 mins in her crib (for naps- no issue in the night weirdly) so we do a weird hybrid where she sleeps in the crib for 25 mins and then cries and I pick her up and hold her for the remaining time 😬

HaichMal · 08/12/2020 21:31

@Busylizzie85 that's a lovely idea

Mj2196 · 09/12/2020 16:28

Thanks ladies it’s a good job we have our babies to get us through these times☹️
We are still on 40min wake ups or 2hour stints if co sleeping (which is every night when I collapse in bed at 3am) he’s a serious nap dodger which is why his nighttime sleep is so rubbish ! We’ve made it to 6 months and it marks 6months breastfeeding❤️ He can sit up , attempts to crawl but we have 0 teeth as yet ! Little one has had toast, fruit and veg. Sweet potato is the fave . We’re doing a mix of self feeding and spooning purée as tbh he’s not quite got the hang of picking stuff up and putting it on his mouth or he’s just lazy lol . We have some settling in sessions for nursery soon that I’m just not ready for 😭
@Zoey92 the calpol plug in is great
@Busylizzie85 I will upload some pics of lo later on

Smiffette · 09/12/2020 19:19

Knowing I have a 6 month old (on the 13th) is crazy! The time has just disappeared and I'm so amazed every day at the little human we created and how she explores the world!
She is sitting well, trying to crawl everyday! Been weaning since 4 months as she was showing signs and she loves the food! no teeth yet either thankfully as I'm EBF as she won't take a bottle despite trying, she hasn't quite got the hang of a beaker yet

Smiffette · 10/12/2020 15:06

Has anyone got or could recommend a good white noise machine that plays all night?
I have one but it times out after 20 minutes and I heard that the white noise is best for keeping baby asleep when it plays continuously

Busylizzie85 · 10/12/2020 15:45

@Smiffette I don't know about a machine as such but we use an iPad with a case as not to shine bright in the room and YouTube, there is one video that lasts 10 hours.

Gigitree · 10/12/2020 15:46

Yes @Smiffette we had this exact same issue with Grace as we were using the Ollie the owl but she would stir/wake up after 20mins when it went off.
We ended up getting the marpac hushh and it’s been fab and plays all night until we stop it.
I have heard people use an Amazon echo/Alexa to play white noise through the night too.

Marpac Hushh for Baby www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01D50RYSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_UkK0FbYEZFTQ4?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Magpie21 · 10/12/2020 16:10

@Busylizzie85 I love that idea.

@Zoey92 our calpol plug in really helped the LO when she had her first cold a few months back. It's a night light too which is helpful. Our teething has been really mild so far, I've used granuals so far...I think they help but honestly I don't know!! 😅 I've bought so anbesol liquid for when it gets bad. I've heard it's good stuff. Sorry to hear you are getting migraines...must be awful. 😔

@Pegase ive actually turned a corner this week on the old napping. I decided to Take the leap and start putting her down for naps..yesterday she was brilliant, today was a bit more hit and miss. I shall stick to it. It feels soo strange to walk and the house without the baby!

@Mj2196 totally agree with you about having a baby to get us through these times. I often wonder how the pandemic would have affected me (especially in lockdown 1) and also have confident I would have been at venturing out.

Random one...is anyone still using infacol? I have been using it religiously as my LO has difficulty bringing burps up in the early days. But I'm cutting it down now as I think she can handle it.

Smiffette · 10/12/2020 16:50

Thanks @Gigitree and @Busylizzie85 . we have Ollie the owl too!

I will take a look at the Kim

NeurologicallySpeaking · 10/12/2020 17:04

I have the owl. I actually prefer for night as you can enjoy the silence when she isn't stirring!

We also use a free app called White Noise (it is a black icon with a moon on it) which plays continuously.

We had a 10 minute nap today. 10 minutes. After about 15 to get it started

Smiffette · 10/12/2020 21:09

I am not sure why it said Kim was meant to say Link!!

Oh how frustrating with your nap situation! I hate it when that Happebs

BabyBird20 · 10/12/2020 22:02

@Smiffette we were given the MyHummy bear and it was a game changer fir us. We have the Bluetooth version so can control it from your phone but it also stays on for up to 12 hours either continuously or with a sleep sensor that restarts the white noise if the baby stirs. It's brilliant for helping settle him!

Zoey92 · 11/12/2020 08:29

@magpie21 the plug in seems to have done the trick, i ended up having her checked over yesterday as the OH was ringing me at work saying she didnt spund too good, shes perfectly fine but he had me stressed and worried, i can manage them now im just so drained afterwards.

Ive just realised it was 1year ago today for my 12weeks scan, where has that year gone 💜

UKtoSK · 11/12/2020 11:28

Just catching up. Seems like Jia is the odd one out as she started rolling front to back a couple of months ago, forgot, then figured it out again a month ago and would do it every time I put her on her tummy but now seems to have forgotten again.. but can do it when pushed. She makes no attempt to roll back to front though! She’s more interested in lifting her bottom in the air or twisting around.

@Busylizzie85 @HaichMal we also have been having some awful nights with waking every 2 hours, 4 feeds a night etc. She’s clearly not even hungry as the feeds are always so half hearted and then isn’t hungry in the morning. It’s when she won’t go back to sleep after that I get really mad. It’s like psychological torture. Am I the only one who thought sleep deprivation was just being really tired? It’s so much worse than that.

We have had a 7-7:30pm bed time for a while now and it has been going really well, I’ve loved having my evenings to myself, even if it’s only for a couple of hours to watch TV. But the last two nights Jia has been refusing to sleep, waking up after ten minutes etc. We’ve been working on self settling because the constant wake ups have been driving me crazy but if I don’t go in and get her right away now she cries so hard she throws up. In just a few minutes. I’m not leaving her for long. So I can’t see us sleep training for a while. I guess she’s just not ready for it yet?

@Magpie21 still having at least one contact nap a day. Jia still will only sleep 30 minutes at a time for a nap and so in order to get a longer lunch nap I go in and rock or feed her back to sleep and then lie down with her cradled in my arm so she can get another hour.

Busylizzie85 · 12/12/2020 08:34

On a slightly different note can I ask how people's hair loss is still? I thought mine would have settled by now but I'm still losing loads 🙁 it's so thin now. I am still mostly breast feeding (ivy has maybe 7 ounces of formula a day as a top up) so not sure if it's slower to stop because of the breastfeeding?

OP posts:
Cornishbumpkin · 12/12/2020 09:06

@UKtoSK I'm with you on the sleep deprivation, he is feeding every 2-2.5hrs overnight, he then thrashes around in his sleep sometimes too so just as I drift off he's awake for another feed, some nights do feel like a form of torture!! I just keep saying to myself it's not guna last forever (can't say that it helps lol).

@Busylizzie85 yep still losing crazy amounts! Constantly finding my hair wrapped in his fingers or just everywhere around the house. I'm breastfeeding too so that may have something to do with it

Busylizzie85 · 12/12/2020 09:12

@Cornishbumpkin I'm glad it's not just me but I'm sorry your losing loads to, it's quite heartbreaking for me every time I brush my hair 🙁 I can't wear it down anymore as I'm frightened it will fall out and ivy will get it caught around her toes or fingers (it happened to a friend and her baby had to go to hospital to get it cut off her toe)

I think my hair loss is just starting to settle now. It was at its worst 4-5 months pp I think.
Smiffette · 12/12/2020 18:22

@Busylizzie85 I think mine has just started to slow down this last few days! Mine has also become really then especially at the front.

Gigitree · 12/12/2020 19:39

@Busylizzie85 mine is still falling out loads but it’s sooo frizzy where I have so many baby hairs growing back 😩 I have legit bald patches at the front so I can’t wear my hair up in a pony tail 😫😫

Busylizzie85 · 12/12/2020 21:00

@Gigitree hugs my hair is really frizzy to where it's trying to grow back especially round the front.

Zoey92 · 12/12/2020 21:02

We tried LO on a jar today, shes been trying the baby porridge and rice
She tried the carrot & potato, bless her she loved it her face just lit up 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 12/12/2020 22:18

@Busylizzie85 yep lots of hair loss here i malt soooo bad. Have just decided to only give lo breakfast and not tea as well as she just wasn't interest and really she's too young to be having 2 meals she really enjoys the breakfast ans eats it all so just going to enjoy the one meal while I can

She has her first tooth .. where my newborn gone 😭

Zoey92 · 12/12/2020 23:45
