Thats great biglips glad the scan went well, not so great that you were there for 4 hours though!!!! Its always the way!!

Well we have been getting on ok, busy at work and got some new signs done for the nursery which has been very exciting as the old signs were crap and old.

We got a letter this morning for an appointment with the genetisist at our local hospital which is good as we dint have to travel to London to see him. We have been wwaiting for ages for this appointment and now its here I feel a little nervous about going. The appointment is on the 18th March so only a week and a half away. Of course I will let you know how we get on.

Still hoping to do the London to Brighton bike ride but havent entered yet so not sure if we will get a place.

We are definately doing the snowdrop 5 mile walk though which is on may 11th.

I hope everyone is ok havent seen many posts on here for ages!!!

My lime tree is still going strong but hasnt grown any more leaves after a lot of them fell off!

cazzybabs · 08/03/2008 22:42

jbadgirl - how exciting about the signs. Hope you are well.

Grace is fine - but ehr nursery (the one I have just moved her to) may be moving to a new site in September - talk about short notice. It is on the other side of town and there is no way I am going there. It is very annoying because I would not have moved her if I had known (whihc is no doubt why they havn;t mentionned it before now) but they mmust have known it was a possibility in January. Anyway I a now running aroung trying to find a new place for her when I go back to work in Sept (well actually I am praying several 1000s punds will fall into my lap and I can stay off work till Dec but that is not very likely).

cazzybabs · 15/03/2008 22:32

where are you all... its rainning (and leaking into my lounge). I am bored....

cazzybabs · 22/03/2008 12:08

happy eraster everyone...may your lo's get lots of chocolate. grace won the easter bonnet competition at her nuraery. although mean mummy that i am i made her save it till tomorrow.

jbadgirl - any news?

biglips - how are you?

jbadgirl · 24/03/2008 11:35

Hi Cazzy,
Our appointment went well last week, didnt find out anything new but confirmed that Toby did have AGS and that they can do testing when we decide to have another. The tests are done at about 12 weeks and we have a 1 in 4 chance of them having the syndrome. It is a fatal syndrome so a lot needs to be considered before we try for more. Just trying to make the most of life with the two of us at the moment but we bopth definately want more children.

Happy Easter to everyone x

cazzybabs · 24/03/2008 16:53

I am sure TOby would hsve loved a sibling (in the future).

cazzybabs · 29/03/2008 16:05

where is everone else?
[cazzybabs00 buttons up coat, looks at watch and sirs on bench waiting...]

maisiemog · 31/03/2008 23:18

Helloo! Oh dear Cazzy on the bench, I hope you aren't too cold sitting there.
How is everyone? Jbad, it's good to hear from you. Have you cooked anything with the lime leaves? You must be super-fit with all these activities. Did you get some more children after the last lot went to school?
Biglips, I hope you are feeling OK.
Alfie is on holiday at the moment and for the next week, which has been nice. I hate that flipping 12-3 slot!! Can't wait until he changes to mornings and I get my day back.
We went for a long walk to the beach, and I was thinking about Grace, because I have wide feet and it is so hard to get shoes that don't pinch. What width foot does she have?
How is she getting on at nursery? Do you have a review for her?
Apparently, Alfie has a review at some point in the next couple of months, which will be weird, because I don't really know what he does at nursery, it's like another world. He probably biffs up all the other kids and has a they are all terrified of him. He's quite bossy now, keeps telling me what to do when I play with him 'No don't put that car there mummy!' Is this a three year old thing do you think? They must have a blast at nursery, all bossing each other about and shouting 'No, that's not right!' 'Give me that!' etc...
It's so funny, poor nursery staff!
Did the LOs have lots of eggs. I still have Alfie's in the cupboard - we are eating them for him, to save his teeth (aren't we thoughtful ), but he did have an egg on Easter Sunday. Chomp, munch, munch!
I hope you are enjoying the holiday, if you are having one.

maisiemog · 31/03/2008 23:21

I don't know what 'and has a they are all terrified' means. Should have read that before posting.

cazzybabs · 01/04/2008 12:52

OHHH HORRAHHHH A FRIEND

Bless you thinking of Grace's feet - she is an g or h with high insteps. How nice to go for a walk on the beach...we have some beech woods but its not quite the same. Infact I am hoping to persuade the dds to stop killing each other and get ready to go out to buy some new shoes.

She loves her nursery but sadly they are moving in Sept to the othe side of cambridge and there is no way I can get there to pick her up - it is 5 miles in the wrong direction from my work. So she is going to another nurery in Sept...which is lovely but they are onle open till 4.30 so will also a pain.

Both of them are on the easter holidays at the mo - althogh they go back next week - where does the time go?

geogteach · 04/04/2008 18:08

Hi i am still around too but I have joined a gym and started an OU course so not much time for this! I have also been to Ireland for a weekend to go to a wedding and next week we are all off to Spain. We only finished school today which was a mighty relief - i'm tired never mind the kids.
Geog is doing well, he is known locally as the kid who walks miles (mean mummy, I have been resting the car). He and his mates at pre school are a proper little gang, they all have older brother and sisters so they see each other at school drop off and pick up everyday where they run around like a load of hooligans

biglips · 09/04/2008 19:41

hiya all!....yes im still around but not on mumsnet as much now as too tired!!

yesterday heard the baby's heartbeat for the 1st time but my DD didnt know what to make of it!!

im 18 week pg on Friday and got my 2nd scan on 24th april so ill let you know all if its a girl or boy. i'd like a boy but ive got a feeling that im having another girl even though the pg symptoms are totally different this time round.

well its my bedtime as im totally knackered now

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

take care everyone and nite nite xx

cazzybabs · 11/04/2008 22:17

Geog - how funny about your ds and his "gang" - bless.

Biglips - good luck for your 20 week scan.

Grace keeps saying her tummy hurts in the morning and being really farty at nursery (poor them) but won't do a poo - but then when we get home she does one. She says she wants to do one at nursery but can't - any advice?

maisiemog · 11/04/2008 23:39

Hii all! What are you studying Geog? I have started taking Alfie to a bigger pre-school group than the last one - there are tiny babies and other three year olds, probably about 25 kids and parents. It's so funny! The first time, Alfie went around in one of those little tikes cars, banging into other kids. Some thought it was hilarious, and some wailed and looked quite worried. We went yesterday and Alfie kept wailing 'Mummmmeeeee' because a smaller boy on a little bikey thing kept bashing Alfie's car.
He's still not quite back to normal about nursery, still not keen to go some days. I had to tell him today that he was going to nursery so that he could learn to take turns and share - I'm sure he was very impressed with that.
Cazzy - I don't really know what goes on in the toilets at nursery, but I would guess that Alf doesn't really do poops there. He tends to go either before he goes to nursery or when he gets home. Do you think if she had her breakfast earlier (all bran and prunes) and quite a few drinks, she might go before she gets to nursery. What are her hours at nursery?
Do you think something happened in the loos, I mean something quite innocent, but which might have put her off going there?
We have just had a letter inviting us to apply for next term and there are eight full time places available. They ask for supporting information from health visitors or whatever for anyone applying for the full time places. I'm just going to put Alf in for the morning place, but it sounds quite tempting to have the whole day to myself. Heehee!!
I would miss him though - my little mate.

maisiemog · 15/04/2008 21:36

Hi all, I want to ask a question about speech. I know Gracie has her own vocabulary going on (clever girl inventing her own language ), but I was wondering if you have to translate things for your LOs?
It's just with Alfie I know what he means most of the time, I do ask him to repeat the odd thing, when he says something new, but in a funny way. I have noticed with DP and his family and my mum that they sometimes answer Alfie as if he said something other than what he did say. I know what he said, so I then think 'why are they saying that to him?'
Is this a mummy thing, where you spend the most time with them and so you know their ways? I think my DP and mum just don't listen - they don't know what I said half the time and DP often accuses me of not telling him something , which I clearly remember saying.
The other day when Alfie was lying in bed and I was making up a story, he asked me to put 'peter piker' in the story. I thought he meant 'Peter Piper' the one who ate the peck of pickled pepper, but I couldn't think why the nursery would have told him that. So it turns out he was ssying 'Pete the Pilot' a character from Engie Bengie (he loves). Another time he started to say, what sounded like 'bloody bus' and I kept asking him to repeat it, but it turned out he was saying 'blardy blah' which I say instead of blah blah. I was a bit shocked then started laughing (with relief).

KathH · 15/04/2008 22:29

Evening all - havent been on here for ages but have been reading everyone's posts. Masiemog - when ds1 was about 3 or 4 I got myself into a right old state because his playgroup mentioned they thought he had hearing problems because they thought he wasnt speaking clearly enough. He'd also failed some hearing tests and had umpteen ear infections. We didnt notice anyhting wrong but the playschool thought it was because we we were used to his funny little ways. He's 9 now and its only when I try & remember the grief we went through that I remember things like this.

Bit pissed off at the moment. Got promoted to assistant manager of my department which is good but there's so much hassle that goes with it I'm not sure its worth it. The firm I work for is a partnership and there's a constant power struggle between 2 of the most senior partners and I seem to be caught in the middle of it everytime they fall out (my manager only works a few hours every week so is never there!). Fingers crossed my numbers come up tomorrow night.

maisiemog · 15/04/2008 23:11

Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaath! How is Moley??
What happened with DS1, did he have hearing problems?
I don't think Alfie has hearing problems, he hears tiny sounds, he just goes 'guggle guggle goo' sometimes when he is speaking, kind of falls over his words.
That sounds poo, with the bosses. How crap to be stuck in the middle. Why do they fall out so much? Maybe they are secretly in love with each other, but can't act on their feeling because of their long term partners/spouses.

KathH · 16/04/2008 22:05

Hi Masie - no he didnt have any hearing problems, I knew he didnt, he could hear a packet of biscuits being opened from 800m. I just got a bit paranoid!

maisiemog · 17/04/2008 22:31

Likewise Alf! How was work?

jbadgirl · 25/04/2008 17:08

Hello All, long time since anyone has been on here even me!!!
Well I have been really busy at work organising open days, parents evening and a trip to a farm park. Gosh its been hectic, oh and we have a date for Tobys ashes now .... 24th May. We met the vicar wednesday and marked out a plot. When I first spoke to him he told me that a plot would cost about £100 but on speaking to him today he said there is no charge! I suppose because Toby was so young not many places like to charge for their services for funerals etc. It is a lovely place very close to our house so we can wander over easily.

How is everyone else doing???

I have also been organising people for the sponsored walk and t-shirts with a picture of Tobs on. Have got loads of sponsorships so far from most of the parents at the nursery, some of which knew Toby others who never got to meet him.

One more thing.... my cat (Tobys cat) had 2 kittens on tuesday and they are sooooo sweet. One is ginger and the other is black. Hopefully they will open their eyes soon and keep growing well.

When I get a chance I will put some pictures on here!!!

cazzybabs · 28/04/2008 10:28

Gosh - its nice that you can walk to visit Toby! Can't wit to see photos of the kittens. Good luck with your walk - let me know hoe to sponsor you.

I am enjoying my last ew months of freedom off...don't really want to go back, although I know when I am back I'll be fine. Its more the thought of leaving my baby,

Grace is really into playing eye-spy at the minute, although she doesn't know what the 1st sound is at the start of words. She'll say I syy something starting with c and it will be tunnel...its so funny. Mind you last night she had a full on temper temper tantrum. Screaming, kicking the door...it was awful! She is so strong willed!

geogteach · 30/04/2008 16:55

Geog likes i-spy too. He always goes for 'p' for pig and 'm' for mirror, needless to say there are rarely any of either of them to be seen when we are playing! His real obsession though is numbers, he can now recognise numbers higher than his older sister and likes to do suduko (feels very odd writing that about my 3 year old). He has a new catch phrase ' i'll be over in a jiffy' - no idea where he learnt that.
Poor child has been totally traumatised today as he found a dead mouse, he obviously has his mothers feelings about small furry things so we both went and hid upstairs and phoned daddy to come home and deal with it

cazzybabs · 01/05/2008 11:00

He he - at least it was dead. Our cat brought in a mouse, ran upstairs with the damn thing and then let it go. It ran behind my chest of drawers and the cat couldn't get it and so lost interest. I phoned dh who came home and caught it (alive) in a box and set it free in the garden! DD1 wanted to keep it as a pet.

WOW with the maths - what a clever boy. Grace can just about count 6 objects...I love watching theit development it is so interesting. dd1 can regonise numbers to 2000 but no more...its it funny.
