maisiemog · 22/01/2008 11:33

Hi all,
well we are on week two and Alfie seems to be loving the whole nursery thing. They have managed to get up my nose already, by making the parents stand outside in the rain after opening time. Supposedly the children are expected to be in the nursery by 12:30. However, they don't actually let you in until about 12:35 - which is quite a horrible wait when it is raining or cold. So we will be going for the later time today.
Very tired boy last week, but seems OK now.
Is there anything I should be asking the nursery or doing?? I don't want to find out in August that I have been doing it all wrong.

KathH · 23/01/2008 22:23

Evening!

DH was tinkering with our computer over Christmas and cos he's so crap he left us without a working computer for about 3 weeks. We had about 3 that didnt work though! Hope everyone's ok. Jbadgirl - if you still follow this thread I've not got your email address anymore.

Am quite concerned that Moley will be 4 this year - how did that happen? DS1 is 9 in a couple of weeks and DD1 will be 15 in February! I feel so ancient! How did my baby turn into a stroppy & hormonal 15 year old? I cant believe how quickly its gone. Everyone enjoy their October 04 babies as they'll be hoodies before you know!

We had a really lovely Christmas with Moley - it's 2 years next week since he was rushed into hospital with meningitis. He's starting playschool next week after finally coming to terms with toilet training. I had a letter from DS1's school last week about Moley as he starts school in August 2009 as where we are they start school at the begining of the Autumn term before they're 5.

I cant believe its 3 yrs since I joined Mumsnet. I googled Reflux and found myself here!

maisiemog · 25/01/2008 14:53

Hiii Kath! I know! I was talking to Alfie about birthdays - he is still a bit cloudy about his age: thought he was seven.
But four! It is so big! I had a shock as well.
How is your DD? Is she telling you she didn't ask to be born and everything is unfair?
I remember giving my mum such a hard time when I was 14 and 15, I did really chill out by the time I was about 16 and by the time I was 18 we were best mates again, so there may be some more cuddles on the horizon. It has to be hard though, having to get shouted at and stuff. I do sympathise.
Big hug to Moley from me and Alf. X

jbadgirl · 28/01/2008 19:25

CONGRATULATIONS BIGLIPS!!!!

Just to say yes I still read up on all your posts, not much going on down this end.

Lime tree is STILL alive!!! I cant believe it.

Work is going ok gradually building up the children after september when they went to school. If anyone fancies moving down this way I know a fantastic nursery!!! hint hint!!

I have almost sorted out Tobys ashes just need to go to the stone masons to see if the tablet is in and decide what to write on it. I think we know what we have in mind.

Still hoping to do london to brighton (54miles) in June so if you wanna come and cheer me on its on the 15th.

Still waiting to hear from genetisist but I have been told that they are waiting for all his notes and results from great ormond street before they see us otherwise they will only have some of the info.

I cant believe it will be 6 months on friday since Toby died, not sure what we will do but ill think of something. In all the rain we have had I keep seeing rainbows which always reminds me of him x

Anyway take care everyone and ill catch up again soon x

maisiemog · 28/01/2008 20:52

cazzybabs · 11/02/2008 17:00

Jbadgirl - it is nice to see you (and have a nose through your face book phoots). Could you move to Cambridge - I am looking for a nice nursery!

Biglips - brilliant news...many congraultions. hope everything is going well and that your not feeling too sick.

Oh go I am so fat (not helped by my new oven and new found ability to bake - muts make less cakes).

I have deicded to get Grace some speech therapy as she still can't see some inital and end sounds. I am slo getting her hearing tested. I have gone private for speecfh therapy as it is such a long waiting time for NHS support and we might not get any as she is not soo bad. Mind you it is soo expensive.

Ohh I hear the sound of crying and I need to feed her (sore full boob!!!)

maisiemog · 12/02/2008 21:31

Hi Cazzy, I want some cakes please!
Do you think Grace has any trouble with hearing? What sounds can't she make?
Maybe she is just a bit slow and will pick up soon. It couldn't be dental could it. I remember you saying that she lisped.
How are you getting on with Evie? How many weeks is she now

cazzybabs · 12/02/2008 22:07

I hadn't thought of dental - she has all her teeth mind you and they seem (to the uneducated) in the right place - mind you I took her to the only NHS dentist in Cambridge taking pateints and she refused to open her mouth and as for hearing have asked for her hearing to be tested .

She struggles to say s - she will say sh or miss it out (for example yes is yet), she says Natasha as Catya etc...some of it like the yes I am sure it is just because she has learnt say it wrong. Anway I shall I see what this lady says.

Evie is now 8 week - where does the time go. She is soooo big now - it is so amazing and sad how quikcly they grow. Still not sleeping through the night though - mind you the day I thought she might Grace woke her up. She has decided that (can't rememebnr if I have posted this already) she wants to be a big girl and not wear nighttime nappies and so every other day will wake up to do a wee and then refuse to go back to bed and will cry for hours (well it seems like hours - Daddy I want Daddy or Mummy...) and refuses to go back to bed. It is a nightmare - I really hope Evie turns out to be as easy as dd1!!!!

We are off to sleep in our new (second hand) bed tonight - it is a super king size!!!!! I am very exciited although the mattress seems a little soft for my taste.

I have started to erg again so hopefully at some point I will fit more of my clothes...got into another skirt today!

Hope you are all doing something nice for Valenitiens day with your dps.

maisiemog · 12/02/2008 23:38

Cazzy, what does 'erg' mean? It sounds painful.
We have a super kings ize as well, and it's fantastic because DP used to squish me all time in our double. He is the pits and whizzes around in circles when he sleeps. Now he is miles away, but he still tries to get the duvet.
Grace is so lovely, she sounds such a character and she's a smart cookie, she probably says things in a funny way to make you laugh.
We still co-sleep with Alfie and he is dry at night, but still has the odd peepee accident, which is great fun. Would Gracie still cry if she got in with you do you think? It would be divine all of you in a little heap.
Do you think she has night terrors? I thought Alfie was doing that for a while, because he would wake up and sometimes pee and get really upset about nothing in particular and clout me. I did try waking him up just before he got a chance to freak out and take him to the loo, and he then didn't wake up again and go crazy. However, he just seemed to stop doing it by himself, so I don't know if that worked or if he stopped anyway.
I hope she settles soon, so you can get a bit of rest. How is her nursery? Alfie is on holiday this week.
Hugs to all!!

cazzybabs · 13/02/2008 09:26

There is no way dh would allow Grace to sleep with us! IT is bad enough with Evie and I tell him that is so we can get some sleep.

Yes she is on holdiay this week. She is loving her school and was sad on Monday that she couldn't go!

cazzybabs · 13/02/2008 09:26

Oh erg = rowing machine

maisiemog · 13/02/2008 11:51

Good for you Cazzy - going on the erg! Is your tummy OK? Don't go crazy and row to France!
I have a squeaky rowing machine, which you have inspired me to drag out - next week or something. DP says 'Shooosh, it's too noisy' when I cycle in front of the TV at night. I can't do it without music or TV to distract me from the boredom.
Alfie can't say 'r', he sounds like Jonathan Woss. He also struggles with 'th' and has only got teef.
Can Gracie make a snake noise OK? I mean does she do 'sss' on its own? It is quite hard to correct them when they sound really cute, or you kind of join in with the funny version of the word. I can't help saying 'azo' sometimes, to Alf, because that's how he used to say 'as well'. 'Is Daddy coming azo?'
How are you doing Biglips? Is Tweenie having a nice holiday?
I was thinking about Hotmama today, wondering where she disappeared to. She had a Grace and and Eve/a I think.

biglips · 18/02/2008 21:02

yes same here as my dd was asking for the "The Muffets show!"....its was "The Muppets show!" its sooo cute when they cant pronounce the words properly but you gotta correct them some time. Tweenie is loving school too and was back today.

its now my bed time! (honest!) as im so tired these days...still waiting for the scan date..will chase it up on Wed as been waiting for 2 weeks tmrw....hhhuuurrrrryyyy uuuuupppppppppp!!!!

cazzybabs · 19/02/2008 21:09

(oh god I have clearly done something...dh is in a strnage mood and not saying much apart from the fact he is depressed and lots of sighing...)

Hey ho anyway took Grace to the speech therpaist today who said although there were some sounds she couldn't do she would do them some of the time measning she can say them and that it wouldn't surprise her in 3-4 months she will have caught up with her peers and infact some other sounds and the vocab she uses were ahead of her peers...so I was sorrying over nothing and have spent £60 to be told not to worry!

She is such a madam though...god today on the bus she and dd1 were saying (in really loud voices) I am going for a poo and I need a wee and lets flush away our stinky poos...oh the shame!!!! I tried to prented they weren't with me. She also will not do what she is told and she stamps her foot and gets so cross....I am not very good at beign consistent and give in to avoid an embasssing battle with her which is making a rod for my own back!

Biglips....go to bed! I remember the tirdness. Hope all is going well and I would give them a ring about your scan. Maybe you have got lost in the system.

maisiemog · 20/02/2008 01:13

Hi all,
hope they get the scan sorted out soon Biglips. Poor you feeling tired, as if you aren't tired enough having a three year old.
Cazzy, I think your DH is suffering from sleep deprivation and/or post-traumatic stress after your delivery deviated from the plan. I think the poor old blokes get a rough deal, because they are a lot more compos mentis (sp?) during the delivery, but have to look very calm, so that we don't lose the plot.
That's great news that Grace is ahead on some sounds - I told you she was a clever clogs.
Alfie is obsessed with poo, it's like 'pooo' all day long. We were passing a little girl and her mum in the park the other day and Alfie whizzed over on Cheeky Bicycle and said 'Hello, I'm poopoo'.
Oh and there was the time he ran over to a young couple with a 10 week old baby. DP went across to supervise (it was in a cafe) and told Alfie to 'Look at the baby!' (making conversation). Alfie said 'Hello Poopoo!'. DP tried to gloss that over, by asking the baby's name. He then told Alfie 'This is Sophie.' Alfie, of course, said 'No it's Poopoo'.

cazzybabs · 20/02/2008 19:32

Dh is in a better mood today - well he is talkign to me . You know I think you are right about the stress of new babies because I rememeber getting all upset after having had Grace because he would come in and not talk to me or ask me how my day at been when really I hadn't talked to anyone else all day and was desperate for adult company. I guess he is tired too but has to go to work where as I can relax at home...which is more relaxing than having to think at home.

And the bloody cat has started to wee inside. WE can't trust her and have to keep watching her all the time. She just came in an weeed in a tissue box....grhhhhh

maisiemog · 21/02/2008 11:48

I feel for you Cazzy, I hate silent/grumpy men, it's so trying. Oh well, there's always Mumsnet, to keep you going until he feels a bit better/more chatty.
Cats can be very single-minded can't they! My old cat would only use the litter tray for one poo/pee then find somewhere else - like the carpet. I would find him peeing right next to the litter tray. Grr! He was so stubborn.
Alfie is on his day off today, and we had planned to go trampolining, but since I completely knackered my back last time, I'm a bit dubious. There must be a technique for that kind of thing. Apparently, NASA makes their astronauts trampoline, because it develops their brain - it didn't do much for mine, I'm still a jelly head.
We are off to see 'Lazytown' on stage tomorrow. Has anyone been?

cazzybabs · 21/02/2008 21:03

Hope you had fun at lazytown!!! Am impressed at the trampoling - think I am too heave for ours however Grace has an excellent time on it.

maisiemog · 21/02/2008 23:18

I'm dreading Lazy Town, but I'm sure it will be OK. So far we have been to see the 'Singing Kettle' and 'Tweenies' and I did stay awake, so I'm going for that.
I still can't trampoline, my back is too squished, so I definitely don't recommend it without extreme caution.
Oh, I just thought I would share, I went to get Alf from nursery yesterday and his hair was all sticking up on top. So as he trotted over to me at the nursery door, I said 'Nice hairdo Alfie!' and his nursery teacher said 'He stuck loads of play dough on his head, and I couldn't get it all off'. I asked if he had eaten it, which he hadn't, so that was progress.
Later on, when he was in bed, I asked what he had been doing at nursery, and he told me 'I was playing with blue stuff and put it on my head'. So I asked 'Why did you put it on your head' and he said 'I was making a bobble, like on a bobble hat'. OKaaaaay!?
