He is becoming quite stubborn and refuses to help me, but he's so adorable with it.
I've been having trouble getting him to sleep at 7:30 - he just stays awake talking and talking and talking. He jumps up and says 'I know! I've got an idea! How'bout, an icecream, I'll have 'nilla and chocolate and bananana and strawberry and stashio and blah blah blah' It's endless.
He's at his most quiet when I take him round to the toy library - I think he's just overwhelmed by the number of options.
Did you accompany Tweenie to the pre-school to begin with?

KathH · 11/10/2007 22:42

Hi all - I thought next Friday when its Tobys birthday me & moley might go to the park & send a balloon into the sky for Toby.

cazzybabs · 11/10/2007 22:43

OHH I will join you (metaphorically...) Kath

Screaminglips · 11/10/2007 22:48

and meee

as thats a lovely idea

maisie - i was with her for an hour at her preschool on the induction day but since she had started it Tues and wed just gone..she gave me a quick hug and ran off!

about the bedtime talking and talking..best to leave him in his bedroom on his own and dont join in.... we've got a bedtime routine now and been going on for a couple of weeks...Story, songs hummings - i know...strange!!....and "Stroke my hair Mum!"

jbadgirl · 12/10/2007 12:59

Hi guys, thats a lovely idea (great minds think alike). Me and DH are going to do that too. We live near "goodwood" so are going up as high as we can to let them off. I am getting yellow ones as thats a special colour for us.

Its DH's birthday on thursday too!

jbadgirl · 12/10/2007 13:06

Except he isnt three (23) not that he acts his age!!!

maisiemog · 12/10/2007 22:37

Hi Jbad and DHbad. Happy birthday to him on Thursday. We will put a little boat in the river on Friday for Toby, it will sail out to sea.
Big Hug.

cazzybabs · 14/10/2007 22:10

Oh god - was just brousing, waiting for dh to come ot bed and thought I'll read the what are you getting your 3-4 year old dd for Xmas thinking I'll see what people are getting - when it hit me I do have a 3 year old. Bloody hell!!!!!! Where, how, when ????

Am a bit sad as am taking out of her nursery as it has gone a little downhill since she started. But am also sad about it as she is soo happy there, but I can't justify over £600 a month when I think she can get better care else where. But she does have all her friends..sigh parenting is so hard!

maisiemog · 14/10/2007 23:49

Hi Cazzy, how's your tum?
So what happened at the nursery? Where is Grace going now - I hope you're not putting her into apprenticeship with a chimney sweep.
Do you have another scan coming up, or is that it?
We are still co-sleeping and last night Alfie peepeed all over the bed. Wah.
I was actually on the sofa, because DP was snoring, following a night out. He woke me up and then started to snore, loudly. Grr!
I was awoken by Alfie wailing 'Mummmmmeeeeeee, it's all wet'.
Lots of fun stripping the bed at 7:30am.
I had put a nappy on him, but when I went back into the bedroom it was lying beside him on the bed. Hmmm! Not sure what came first: the peepee or the nappy off. Alfie wasn't really making a lot of sense when I asked him.
'Did you take your nappy off before you peepeed?'
'Yes'
'Did you take your nappy off after your peepeed?'
'Yes'
[puzzled face]
Does anyone remember Richard Scarry books, like 'What People Do' or 'How things Work'?
I had some when I was little and loved them.

Screaminglips · 15/10/2007 09:34

maisie - hee hee!!..Well its happening similar to Tweenie as 3 TIMES she weed her knickers and flooded her pants...and socks...and shoes!! in the last week but whats puzzled me that she tells me she is going to the toilet (by herself) but she come back all soaking!! but i think i know whats she had done...she is too busy brushing her teeth to go on the toilet!! another !!! BUT there also was wee on the floor around the toilet as she told me (after i asked her questions about 20 times) that she forgot to take her knickers/pants off!! oh i give up!! everything was going brilliant till the last week!

cazzy - what had happened to Graces nursery?? how is DC doing? and yourself too?

We are planning for another baby NEXT YEAR!! - eek!! as Dp told me "We will start trying when youre ready!" eek!! so im just planning out when to start acting like rabbits!!!

Jbad - its marked down on my calender for Tobys birthday. How are you? yea mine acts like a 3 year old at times too!! !!

Well Tweenie is in her preschool atm and i can mentally switch off!! aahhhhhh!!!! I wanted her to walk to school as by buggy its take 15 mins but if she had walked it prob take about 30 mins but she wanted her buggy...prob still tired from a good weekend as parties and made cakes!!

Screaminglips · 15/10/2007 09:36

ive measured Tweenie and she is 104cm!! and prob about 10 stone!! as my back is crippling me and i cannot push her in the buggy for long distance as i cannot carry her if she is tired.. she gonna have to start using her legs more! but ill take the buggy with me if she gets tired.

cazzybabs · 15/10/2007 19:29

Nothing happened at the nursery - just not as good as it once had been. I am never sure quite how much interaction goes on between child and adult, and also there is never much change in activites. It always seems to be the same ones. Never any real role-play or dressing up, not much in the way of messy play, not much ICT ...actually I now feel better about taking her out!!!! Actually chimney-sweeping isn't a bad idea - we may need it being done. But although Grace is little she is solid and so may not fit up there.

Bump is fine - 8 weeks to go (I think).....

Biglips - how exctiing...

we have no hotwater at the mo as are waiting for new boiler to put in. AM quite looking forward to hot water as and when I want it - not that I would ever go in the bath (YUCK YUCK YUCK).....it is very 70s!

KathH · 15/10/2007 21:42

Gosh 8 weeks to go!

Thought I might be having a quiet night tonight as dh & ds1 along with my bil & nephew have gone to see the wrestling at Birmingham Indoor Arena - moley has other ideas!

cazzybabs · 15/10/2007 22:26

oohh I didn't realise you where local to Brum? We should meet up?

maisiemog · 15/10/2007 23:55

Aaaaah Moley! Big kiss to Moley from me and Alf. Mwah!
Tweenie sounds a bit confused. Does she disappear off without telling you and then you find a puddle? Alfie can now put his toilet seat on the big toilet seat and clamber on, but the problem is I don't know he went for poops and he sometimes doesn't mention. Don't really want brown bums running about the house.
Is your bath avocado Cazzy, or pink or yellow? Is that what you mean by 70s bath? DP's mum and dad have a yellow loo and sink and a coffee bath and loo in the bathroom.
The yellow loo is to die for.
We have just heard that DP's brother is going to be a daddy. OMG! I'm so jealous.
Cazzy that really isn't long is it? You will probably need to get in the bath at some point near the birth.
My cousin is due in December as well.
Babies everywhere!
Biglips as well. Just imagine another big lump to carry about.
What pram do you have Biglips? Is the handlebar too low for you? Our pram has an adjustable handle, which DP uses on the highest setting (he is 6 feet) and he is quite comfortable with it.
I can't imagine not having our pram, it would take hours to get anywhere with Alf. It's either full-pelt or wanting to be lifted up with him.
Do three year olds get ICT? Alfie loves cbeebies website, but he mainly just BASHES the keys and the keypad. 'Whoah! Chill out!'
The computer is scared of Alfie.
I think he has worked out how to move the arrow with the mouse pad, so hopefully not too much more biffing the key board.

maisiemog · 16/10/2007 00:32

Oh and Kath, I got in from work at 9:30 and Alfie got up again. He didn't go to sleep until 10pm. Cheeky little lump!! So you are not alone.
He did sleep well last night, went to bed at 8pm and went out like a light, then woke up at almost 9pm. This remarkably long sleep was due to two or three very bad nights and a very tired looking boy.
He has little 'points' of teeth coming in at the back, which must be quite uncomfortable, so that's probably the cause. Ouch!
I was looking at some research on sleep and children and apparently, they all have differing needs. Surprise!
So there doesn't seem to be any real guideline and no point comparing one child with another because one may need 12 hours and one 9 or 10.
Has anyone been watching that 'Bringing up Baby'. OMG That woman!!
She is obsessed with babies 'sleeping through' from day one. No matter how much they cry. Poor little things.

prettymum · 16/10/2007 01:02

Happy Birthday Moley, Tweenie and Grace!!!!

hello ladies!!! been long time i know

shinead is 3 on wednesday!! omg i have a 3 yr old child! we're taking her and ds to the london aquarium and if we get time maybe the london eye too, she'll love it hopefully.

the girl is so cheeky, she even told me to be quiet today, she normaly says that to her brother!

her and ds get on so well, they love play fighting and they play rough! she always makes sure he gets his food if im sharing her some and most times is very caring.

she loves doing everything by herself, dressing herself, bringing food out of the fridge, playing her dvds and teaching me a few things along the way!

i passed my driving test in august so im driving around now and its made my life so much easier and i dont have to rely on dp no more! shinead loves my car, she even tells it that she loves it!

dps just got in from the garage so better get off and hes touching my very hairy legs!!

Screaminglips · 16/10/2007 11:01

happy birthday to everyone

Maisie - ive got a Maclaren XP and its not low as i can extend it longer - teh handles bars....its the weight of Tweenie as she is getting weighed today as not weighed her for a while so i reckon she is about 40lbs now and she is 104cm tall - 3 ft 4 ins. (she got a height of a 4 yrs old) but its when she is rocking from side to side..its really ached my back...plus the bed isnt helping either!! as i need to buy a memory mattress topper or we will sleep on the floor as we like rock hard beds!!

Anyway..im off to the Family planning service clinic where i had my coil fitted in and now getting it out! and start trying for another baby!...

Cazzy - i think im gonna faint!!! 8 WEEKS!!!

....any names yet???

Screaminglips · 16/10/2007 11:03

prettymum....yep they are 3 now!! (gulp!!)

Screaminglips · 16/10/2007 11:06

maisie - yes she had disappeared once and i found her upstairs brushing her teeth and she forgotton to go to the toilet!!

so she is too busy brushing her teeth instead of going to the toilet!!

maisiemog · 16/10/2007 13:38

Hi Prettymum!! What is Shinead getting for her birthday?
Biglips, Alfie rocks in his pram as well, and it's really tough to push. I have to keep reminding him to stop. The other thing he does is crane round to see behind him and hangs out of one side of the pram.
Does Tweenie get into the pram by herself? I find that saves my back if Alf gets in and out by himself, but I think he is about 5lbs lighter than Tweenie.
So coil out. Wooo! Good luck with that. I hope it happens quickly.
BUT I must warn all you expectant (Cazzy) mummies and all you trying (Biglips) mummies. I hope you don't disappear off to other new baby threads and forget us here. Or I will be looking for you. Oh yes!! [scary face]
We have been trying half-heartedly for months now, since January or something, but we are rubbish at getting together on the right days, like around day 14. It seems to be the time when DP is away or we are visiting or something, or he is ill or we are super-busy and too tired or we fall out about something else and aren't on good terms blah blah etc..
Sometimes I think that subconsciously I don't really want another baby. There always seems to be an excuse.
It is disappointing though, because I didn't want to have to make a huge effort, but there you go.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the doctors for a day 21 progesterone test and she said the results were good, no problems. Now DP has to get his sperm tested. Hee hee! What a hoot. I bet he is thrilled to bits.
My GP referred me for a hospital appointment to see if there were any physical problems, especially as I had that operation after Alfie was born. I don't know if you will remember, it was to have that fibroid removed and it may have caused scarring/blockages.

geogteach · 16/10/2007 21:08

Well geog is 3 now, after 3 days of celebrations i'm glad its over! His mates party on Friday he managed to cut his friend with the scissors he was using to make a Bob the builder figure, at his family party on Sat he climbed on a shelf in his room and all we could hear was 'mummy I can't get down...' I think he is going to be a terrible 3. Today on his actual birthday I was parent helper at pre school and he gave biscuits to the other kids. Toilet training is OK here, geog is dry at night which his brother nad sister still aren't, but he does often manage to pee all over his trousers even though he is on the loo. Men and their aim!

maisiemog · 17/10/2007 00:09

Happy Birthday little Geog!!!
That's great that he's dry at night, give you a bit less work, especially if you have two others to deal with.
I've got Alfie in a nappy at night, and if it's dry in the morning, he gets to wear it again the next night.
I hear you about the terrible three. Alf has been having major strops over the past few weeks. Tonight he wouldn't go in the bath. Nooooo! Trying to pull out the plug. He went so red it looked like a weird allergic reaction. Eventually I took him to bed to chill, and then after half and hour he jumpted out of bed and ran down the hall naked (looking very like Gollum) telling me 'I'm going for my bath now'. EH!?
I hope I cope with this OK.
Scissors eh! What kind are they?
I haven't let Alfie do scissors yet, but I know he really wants to.
I was cutting my fringe yesterday and I caught sight of Alf in the mirror. He was staring at me saying 'mummy has scissors, they cut your fingers' like a mantra. Which really means, 'I know you told me they cut fingers, but they look really coooool, and I want to cut things out of your books and magazines and destroy stuff.'
Did you see those little two year old continuum cycle kids cutting cucumber with sharp kitchen knives on TV??

prettymum · 17/10/2007 00:29

Happy 3rd Birthday Geog and Shinead!

masie-ive bought shinead a stephanie from lazy town dressing up set and a fairy dress up set, she loves to dress up so thought these would be the ideal present for her. dps not very happy with them as he doesnt like her to dress up too much but told him its my present to her so he can moan all he likes! hes going to go buy her something tomorrow!

biglips- good luck with the ttc!! maybe by next october you'll have the next addition to the biglip clan

cazzybabs- 8 weeks and you'll have a tiny little bundle in your arms again, what does grace think about having a brother or sister(do you know the sex?)

going bed now so am all nice and refreshed for tomorrows big day

goodnight everyone
