And dairy-free too if needed.

It's not been the best month for a lot of Januaries has it?

Now, will you don a high buttoned blouse and start putting the mackeral in the smokehouse uttering things like, 'lawks a mercy' ala Little house on the prairie?

LadyTophamHatt · 29/08/2007 18:37

Ummmm......

Possibly not

eandh · 29/08/2007 18:37

Was wondering who you were mrsc!!

Lizz I had one of theose concentina (sp) files each sectioned labelled, with quotes/bookings/receipts etc. Had sreadsheet with all parts ie car/dres//flowers et etc name of supplier, address, tel no, cost, deosit paid, amount owing and pay by date.

Hotel knew me so well as I always asked for every change to be sent to me by email/writing as confirmation. When I dropped the stuff off at hotel on the friday they laughed as never had such organised bride! I had each table details in a huge brown enelope - each had the name places (in the right order plus a plan in case!) menus, right number of favours etc. Main box had my table plan, main menu, signs etc (hotel offered to do this but only do it on their bog standard headed paper I did it all so it matched) and yes menu cards etc were laminated

I also left all the presents for ushers/bridesmaids/mums etc but I had crystal gifts engraved (4 pint tankerd for best man, 1 pint tankerds for ushers, vases for mums, candle holders for bridesmaids) they had about 15 FRAGILE notes all over them. Made all the children that were attending in the day layered presents that had to go on their chairs. They had a layer for before teh starter (sticker book) next layer (main meal) was pencils/colour book, next layer (dessert) was mini etch a sketch, last layer (speeches) was a book so they had something new to play with.

I made a list for the photographer to ensure I got all the photos I wanted and argues with him because he was a tosser

Made a 'postbox' for everyone to post the wedding cards in as sil had her reception at same hotel and a few got 'lost' oh god I could go on and on!!1

Lizzzombie · 29/08/2007 19:00

eah - there are some really good ideas there, I may have to nick! Since I have 2 years to plan this out, I reckon I could be nearly as organised as you!

Wilkie · 29/08/2007 19:22

EAH - absolutely PMSL. You are so funny but also feel a little that I didn't think of any of those thing

MrsC - long time no speak stranger. Hope you got the probiotics OK. I was thinking 'Who the hell does this newbie think she is? Being a little over familiar...' then I realised it was you

eandh · 29/08/2007 19:32

Just had 2 people text to blow out ellies birthday party next week invited 11 people (plus her) all replied yes but 1 cant come because its his weekend with his dad (mums new boyfriend was best man at our wedding so te dad doesnt know us) and dad has made plans and the other one is an old friend from work son but they are relocating to usa in october (and shes due baby no 2 in january!!) and she has so much to do so I undestand that reason (brave/insane lady!) anyone want to fill the spaces??

Wilkie · 29/08/2007 19:35

EAH - I HATE it when people text to say they can't make things. Just had someone do that about the christening on Sunday. Think it is exceptionally rude.

We would come if you didn't live in bloody stupid kent

eandh · 29/08/2007 19:39

Wilkie · 29/08/2007 20:56

Thanks LAL

We didn't have wedding favours (cheapskates)

eandh · 29/08/2007 20:57

woo hoo LAL she is going to pee her pants when she sees she has the complete dora swimming set!! did you get your email from book people ours has been posted!!!!

Guadalupe · 29/08/2007 21:04

Yes, Wilkie, thanks, I did get it. I had to collect from the depo though as our new irritating postman is a real jobsworth and takes them back if we're out. The old one used to leave them in the recycling box. So annoying.

I waved at all you northerners as we passed, blimey it was a LONG car journey, nearly 400 miles. Had great fun though.

Just given F calpol as I think there must be teeth coming. He has his first ever sore bottom and keep pulling at ears, dribbling etc.

We had favours, tiny beautifully printed chocolates from Plaisir du Chocolat in Edinburgh coincidently. Sadly they have closed down so we couldn't get any more while there. It is still a cafe/chocolatier but with boring old same old chocs.

VinoRouge · 29/08/2007 21:07

AL - does your DH have any tips for me for Saturday then??

Lizz - Ellen doesn't have cot bar `marks but she did fall over into her stacking cups the other day and bruised her cheek. I had to sign an 'incident report' at nursery yesterday. I felt a really bad parent!!
And I am well impressed with you drilling. I leave all that kind of stuff to DH.We have a jigsaw!

Shimmer - Ellen loves radiators too! She is fascinated by the valve on the end and loves to twiddle it. I think its cos it makes a noise. Oh and all our power tools are B&Q own which have served us fine.

Wilkie - I had a LOVELY day today thank you. I made the train with a min to spare! E was sooo god on the train again just sittign there smiling at people and chomping her breadstick. We went shopping in Leeds aftewards and I bought a pair of red shoes, some red jewelry, shoes my mum has been after for ages and something from m&s for tea. The red stuff is for the hen w/e cos I have to wear`black with red accessories for races. I already have a black dress and red bag. Like the idea of adding rgee to the secret santa. I stupidly asked wilkie today how we would get the presents to each other......the post was her answer!

Mrs C / Guadalupe - glad to see you back. Were you secretly cross with us for not welcoming back you back with open arms when you went on hols??

VinoRouge · 29/08/2007 21:09

shimmer apparently our drill was only 15 quid

Guadalupe · 29/08/2007 21:46

Vino - ph no, I don't think I am a sulky person like that, I always say if I am annoyed.

I sometimes come on and no-one has posted much,
or I have nothing much to say and I get sucked into active convos and lentilly threads and so on. My laptop is also being a pain and I cannot be arsed to sit in the cold study.

Not that it isn't nice to be missed of course.

Lizzzombie · 30/08/2007 08:25

EaH - whereabouts in Kent do you live?

Hope E's party is a hit on Saturday. I am working so will be thinking of you whilst I am dealing with stroppy titted customers!

Wilkie - didnt realise J was getting christend on Sunday. Hope it goes ok. We are going to a christening in Enfield on Sunday. its gonna take ages and ages to get there, and I hope our car makes it!

Oops LO is awake again and rattling his cage, best go x

Lizzzombie · 30/08/2007 08:26

Ps - MrsC/Guandlope - I've been lurking on 10/10. How are you going? I am REALLY crap at it.

eandh · 30/08/2007 08:31

Ellie is still in bed after she put herself to bed at 6.15 last night, in the (almost) 3 years she has been born she has NEVER slept past 7 and is normally up between 6 and 6.30, however, Hattie was awake at 5.30 so I was still up (although shes having a nap so very peaceful here at the m o!)

Can only think the excitement of her birthday and party next week is making her tired (plus we are going to see great grandma next week and she is one of her favourite people) we go on holiday on the 10th so am hoping this sleeping continues for that week

Lizz her party is on the 8th sept (her bday is the 7th boo shes getting so grown up ) I live in Maidstone (county town) are you venturing this way?

VinoRouge · 30/08/2007 08:39

I am knackered after E waking 3.30-4.30, dh alarm and about at 6 then E awake again at 7. She is now v interested in the hoover.

got loads to do today. sun is shining yippeee
