Oh vole, sounds like you are having a tough time. Hope the drugs work for you and you feel better soon. It's good that you can keep on BF for now, but don't do it at the expense of your health.

Sounds tough for those of you with toddlers. I know it's not easy at any stage but we are planning quite a large age gap, though last night I dreamed I was pg again - even in my dream I though "it would have to be an immaculate conception!"

annobal · 08/08/2007 19:35

Aaahhh, 3 boys in bed asleep and a whole house to myself. Just sitting down with a cup of tea (we're out of wine - had that at lunch ).

I can fully agree with the PITA children - DS2 hasn't run off for ages (he went through a real stage of running on the road at about 2) and now he's started again so today I had to put him in the stroller with the straps on (the worst punishment) and tell him he couldn't ride the postman pat truck in the post office cos he ran off. I am a mean mother.

Vole - sorry you are having a bad time but hope it gets better soon - am off to read your thread...

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 20:29

well done annobal. I've finally got my DD to go down, and now I should be finishing the dishes and sorting out laundry and packing so I can leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow, but I've just mananged to eat a proper meal for the first time today and feel like I need an hour to myself before starting chores.....and I do have wine!

Why is sitting about feeding and dealing with a LO so tiring? DH thinks I have it easy when I have days like this, but it is such hard work.

She's whimpering again but I'm hoping that if I ignore her she'll shush up and go to sleep. She's only had about 2 hours sleep today, she must be tired.

Evening ladies - been catching up regularly but time doesn't allow MN!

Where are you going tomorrow Daisy?

Right - going to put lo in her chair to sleep and give the boys a kiss g'nite.

Hope to make it back for a chat today!

Jamantha · 08/08/2007 20:35

I'm ignoring the chores too Daisy, but my tipple is only cranberry squash this evening. Ah well, I'm so thirsty I think it wouldn't do me much good to drink this volume of wine. And I'd better save my alcohol allowance for tomorrow - DH is out so I might feel like a drink after a whole day and evening on my own with DD, cutie that she is.

loonylovegood · 08/08/2007 20:58

FOxy are you still there? Are you ok?

Daisy if I don't "see" you again this evening have a lovely time x

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 20:58

hellooo foxy , your absence has been noted, but it's understandable with 4 LOs to look after ad the school hols to boot.

I'm off up to Scotland to stay with my big big sis for a few days, then will be bringing my other sis's two DSs back here for a week! I like to give myself an easy life, obviously .

The boys will look after themselves really and give me a break, and my sis is coming midweek and staying till the weekend so we can do some days out together.

I freely admit that I'm a lush

Jamantha - I'm impressed if you fancy a drink after a whole day - I'm gagging for one by the time brekkie's over

I'm OK thanks. Been out everyday doing 'activities'. Tennis this week.

OMG - don't know if I should tell you this (on a public forum ) but I have just been shining a torch up DS2s bum and stuck a bit of sellotape over his 'poo-hole'. He keeps complaining of a sore bottom at night time. He's either stalling before bed or its threadworms.

yukkk!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 21:13

why the sellotape foxy? are you trying to catch the little buggers? [eeeeeew emoticon]

OP posts:
foxybrown · 08/08/2007 21:17

the woman in Boots told me to do it!
they, or their eggs, are meant to stick to it. God, i hope he's just being a nuisance!

its up there with scooping poo out of the bath with your bare hands in the 'least enjoyable things of motherhood'.

sputnik · 08/08/2007 21:20

That's just what I was wondering

loonylovegood · 08/08/2007 21:21

Ewwwww!!! I have a total parasite phobia! I was just saying to dp the other day how I so won't cope the day Alice comes home from school with nits! Hope you get rid of the little buggers! I assume the sellotape is to stop him scratching his bum too. If he scratches his bum and puts his fingers in his mouth the whole process starts again!

Being a mum is super fun!

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 21:21

I can hold my hand on my heart and say I've never had to scoop poo out of the bath.

Thankfully I've been lucky so far with childhood nastinesses, we've never even had headlice here.

I hope your morning is wriggly thing free

OP posts:
foxybrown · 08/08/2007 21:24

apparently about 40% of school children have it at any one time. Have obviously been spending a lot of time on the internet this afternoon finding out about it.

I have disgusted everyone now, haven't I?

On another note, I started my Weightwatches on Monday. How do I get through the day without chocolate or sweets???

foxybrown · 08/08/2007 21:27

Ahh, the more children, the more grossness. Bit late to realise that now

Managed to avoid nits too - but we get through copious tea-tree conditioner in this house - can't stand the thought of creepy-crawly things ON them, let alone IN them!

Hoping for a clear result in the morning.

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 21:39

worms fill me with fear and loathing so i hope we steer clear. DS is a mucky tyke though, who "forgets" to wipe his bum or wash his hands....and I've caught him giving DD his finger to suck on (just like mum and dad do) on several occasions

how are you bearing up over the hols foxy?

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 21:39

I feel all itchy now...

OP posts:
foxybrown · 08/08/2007 21:51

Its VERY full-on! But we are having a lovely time. I knew it would be hectic, but from the moment I get up there's jobs/chores/demands. But we are out everyday, and then I can sit on my arse watching the kids doing their thing!

Thankfully the weather is fab at the moment!

How are you finding it? How old are your nephews? Guess the boys will run as a pack, and all you'll have to do is sling a few ham butties in their general direction from time to time? Hopefully!

foxybrown · 08/08/2007 21:55

Time for my Horlicks! Night Daisy, and anyone else lurking (and scratching!!)

loonylovegood · 08/08/2007 22:04

Foxy, put discovery H&H on! This family has 14 kids! Freaks!

justbeme · 08/08/2007 22:06

hi all - just quick mn time - can i ask a question - ive forgotten after 12yrs..

lucy is 4 weeks old now - re bedtimes - im just taking her up 2 bed when i go, but when should/could i start trying to get her to sleep upstairs on her own early evening - by the sounds of it some of u are doing this

loonylovegood · 08/08/2007 22:30

Not me jbm! I am a bit of a hippy earth mother type and really believe in co-sleeping, so ds comes to bed with me and sleeps right next to me (or on me)! Much easier for bfing! Dd didn't have a "bedtime" until she stopped sleeping with us at 18 months!

justbeme · 08/08/2007 22:34

oh ok holly - any 1 elses advice pls?

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/08/2007 22:47

jbm...I started putting DD to bed in her cot at about 6-7 weeks. Until then she slept in her pram or chair downstairs with us and then moved to crib in our room when we went to bed.

But, I need my sleep so she is in her own room now and I think we are both sleeping better. I did start waking her at 10 (a la CLBB) for a feed, but she wakes at 3 regardless of when she is put to bed so I've just been leaving her.

We have a sort of routine, although holidays and jabs have kind of thrown things a bit.

Foxy, DNs are eight and nearly six and they all play beautifully together as they were practically brought up together from babies till we moved here two years ago. I can't wait to have them actually as they are such lovely boys and DN2 is a very deep thinking profound wee soul who has us all killing ourselves laughing at his comments/actions.

I've just spent 45 mins doing the kitchen....now I have to hide a mountain of laundry from my MIL who will be here tomorrow as FIL doing the garden for us....then I need to pack, tidy the living room, get some sleep and I'll be good to go!

Not looking forward to the four and a half hour drive
