Thank for that - I'll try and watch it.

Ds is in a bad mood today - keeps shreeking at full pelt and I'm not sure he knows himself why - he's only had a 40 min nap so far today so I think he's knackered.

Jamantha · 10/08/2007 13:39

Sounds like your DS is the same as my DD today DKMA. Have finally got her to go down, but she's been grumpy all morning and I'm sure it's just being tired after being wide awake from 6am.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 10/08/2007 13:54

He seems to keep waking himself up trying to do a pooh? It's like he's got bad guts or something? There's loads of straining and groaning going on? Not sure what to do with him?

annobal · 10/08/2007 16:06

Foxy, poor you on both counts! G went through a stage of running off and was found on the road . After that we did serious buggy time when he ran off. It is the worst feeling in the world. As for slugs, it sbad enough when you step on them in the dark, but remember, we had a dead rat!

Trace, sorry for Chloe. Hope she's feeling better now.

The apple crumble I normally just chuck the ingredients in so sorry if it is a bit slap-dash.

Apple crumble recipe...
topping
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup flour (doesn't matter if it is SR or plain)
1-2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1 dessert spoon of sugar
add all ingredients into bowl and rub the butter into the flour. When rubbed in the consistency should just stick together when squeezed - add extra butter as needed.

peel and core 3-4 apples (can also use pears or combination of both) and chop into pieces about 1-2cms. Put into saucepan with a little water at the bottom and stew for 5-10 mins until tender. Depending on sweetness of apples you may want to add a little sugar. If you have them, cloves are lovely as well.

Put the apples in an oven proof dish with a little of water from the saucepan and add the topping on top - pat it down a loosely. Put into oven for around 20 mins on 150 deg then turn up to 180-200 for 5 mins to make the topping golden brown.

Hope this doesn't make it too complicated - it really is very easy and only takes 5 mins to prepare. Enjoy!!

trendaverter · 10/08/2007 17:13

DKMA - my LO does that ALL the time... hence moving into his own room at 3 weeks old, can't take the grunting!

foxybrown · 10/08/2007 18:18

mmm, am going to make the crmble with apricots. thanks A!

Trace, hope Chloe is OK, little thing is going through it.

DKMA - have you tried gripe water? my lo gets a bit grumpy when all she needs is a good fart.

DP away tonight, and no white wine! . can make do with red i suppose.

Have 2 bottles of champagne though. Sainsburys have a half price deal on. Yet to wet the babys head, so a necessary bargain!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 10/08/2007 18:41

Ok I'll give the gripe water a go this weekend.
TA I might try and get him in his own room this weekend - now he's going 3 hours between feeds and not 1.5 like previous weeks!

Have had by baby cage delivered today (playpen) and DH will be putting it together in a bit - so I expect we'll be having a row (always do when he has to do anything DIY ish) cos he's so slap dash and half cock and I like things just so - but he wont let me do it / help / or listen to my advice - suppose it's a 'man' thing

Foxy - did you say you'd joined weight watchers? I really want to get cracking with losing some of this flab but don't know what is recommended whilst bf'ing?
Have a treadmill being delivered next week - can't exercise in public yet - the wobble is far too shocking

annobal · 10/08/2007 18:48

Mmmn, champagne! I do fancy a tipple!

Am also considering moving C into his own room but not too sure as he seems to spend half the night in our bed. He fell asleep in the baby bjorn at 6pm so I put him into bed (he fed at 4 and 5 tonight). Thought that could suffice for his bed time. He'll probably wake at 7 and feed for another hour or 2.

foxybrown · 10/08/2007 18:53

I haven't joined as such, but am doing the diet - bf mums get 30 points per day. I've got all the books from last time, but you can buy them on ebay. I am loving it, and feel like I am in control of what I am eating again (spent 20 points of todays allowance at pizza hut with the kids though ). I think to join up lo has to be 6 weeks old, but I;m not sure.

Can't wait to exercise again too.

foxybrown · 10/08/2007 18:54

Oh,and I meant to say our cage was one of the most useful bits of kit we bought. Also very handy to put the Christmas tree in so LO doesn't pull it over or get to the pressies!!

annobal · 10/08/2007 18:58

Am also very keen to get back to the gym but will have to make do with walks at the moment - the creche doesn't accept LOs before 3 months

annobal · 10/08/2007 18:59

which is fair enough and wouldn't want to leave him before then anyway

trendaverter · 10/08/2007 19:00

I have lost almost a dress size since giving birth

I am happy but not over the moon.... I was a size 20 after birth so really it shouldn't have been too hard to shift a little bit!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 10/08/2007 19:09

Hmmm - If I am organised enough this weekend I'm going to resurect my old 'Low GI diet' thingy that I have followed in the past when the flab has got out of control. I use an internet based diet that gives meal options and does a shopping list (good for me as I am crap in the kitchen), The meals are all really simple and tasty.
I'll just uo the portion a bit on the evening meal.

I know what you mean Foxy about feeling in control again. I really want to be in charge of my own body again - it's been so long........

Annobal - I can't take lo to the gym yet (it's 12 wks too) thats why I've got the treadmill - out of desperation!

justbeme · 10/08/2007 19:10

Evening!
didnt take long to catch up tonight as its been quiet on here today!
My mum and dad have gone back home to Devon today (been here since mon eve). They were helpful - ie doing gardening/housework, but its a relief to get my house back as they are quite irritating and my mums gone seriously deaf since I last saw her.
(i know im a horrible daughter!!)
Had an argument with my dad last night as he asked if he could have one of my plant pots - I said to show me the one he wanted (today) - and provided it wasnt one of a set etc then ok - but that wasnt good enough for him - he wanted me to say yes there and then without knowing which one i was giving away. - When I told him to show me the one today, he told me not to bother as he'd buy a new one. God parents! Do you think our LO's will be moaning about us when we're old and grey??

trendaverter · 10/08/2007 19:12

I can't put LO in the creche yet either

I really want to join a gym but and stuck with mother and toddler swimming groups - which I still haven't actually gone to as I am always busy

justbeme · 10/08/2007 19:22

god i havent been 2 a gym in 3 yrs -
my mum said 2 me this week - oh youve still got yr tummy then - thanks mum!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 10/08/2007 19:37

DH just finished feeding lo with bottle and couldn't get him settled to sleep so I took over and finished off with a bit of boob - and have just put him in his own room!! He has been having the odd nap in there but never actually gone to bed in there at bed time!
The black out curtains are drawn - so much darker than in our room.
His little face though when I shut the door - oh gawd - I just didn't want to leave him! But no crying yet!!! Probably in too much shock to cry at being shut in a very dark room on his own!?

foxybrown · 10/08/2007 19:46

have you been stood outside the door, or next to the baby monitor - just waiting? thats what i do dkma

my gym is 6 weeks, and lo will be going in short bursts, but i reckon mine have been going there for years so am ok with leaving her. in theory.

justbeme · 10/08/2007 19:47

aww DKMA! - Do you put him to sleep every night quite early?? what times does he tend to wake for feeds through the night then?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 10/08/2007 20:31

No Foxy - it's much worse than that! We have a CCTV baby monitor - and we've plugged it into the TV! So were watching lo on the telly! He has had his eyes wide open for the last 10 mins - having a bit of a thrash about with his hands - a bit of a laugh - a couple of farts - and is now drifting off to sleep!

JBM - If we get him to sleep now - he'll wake at about 11.30, then about 3.30, then about 6. Well thats what he's been doing the last few nights any way!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 10/08/2007 20:46

I'm such a proud mummy
My little boy is in his own room - in his own bed - fast asleep!
WOW
Freekin lovin the CCTV - forget big brother - I'm watchin my little fella all night!!

sputnik · 10/08/2007 21:09

LOL at the cctv dkma.
I am proud to announce I've now lost 3 kg! I've been exercising an hour a day or so at home, with about 1/2 an hour of running up and down the steps in front of our house plus half an hour of stretching/strength type exercises. Being sort of careful about what I eat but not exactly dieting. It's good to be back in control, still got 7 kg to go though.

Juwairiyyahsmaama · 10/08/2007 21:10

Hi everyone. Hope your los are all doing great.
Thanx alot annobal.
Has anyone here read the book "Why French Women Dont Get Fat"? If yes what did u think of it?

My dd's got allergy. Initially we was using mothercare products then i was advised to stop and i did. But today the rashes returned and i wonder if its something i eat but then i was told not to believe my diet can affect my dd via bf. I was told i could go on with my usual diet and can have even coffee. Does anyone bfing here drink coffee?

sputnik · 10/08/2007 21:14

Heard of that book, but not read it, what's it all about?
