trace2 · 06/08/2007 16:30

andiem · 06/08/2007 16:37

TA glad you have an answer at last good thing everyone is here to help each other I have heard good things about the dr brown bottles

Had 6 week check today and she put a speculum in to see my cervix aaagh!!!!!!! I know a baby came out but even so

trendaverter · 06/08/2007 17:29

you had your fanjo examined?
I didn't...oh well (not that I am upset about it!)

I had my 'feelings' quiz today, I was on the cusp. I said I am not depressed, I am just tired

Ok have told DH not to buy the bottles, will give the milk a go first!

andiem · 06/08/2007 18:17

I know TA I cannot believe she looked at my cervix and fanjo mind you when I had ds1 the dr put her fingers in and asked me to squeeze thank god it wasn't that this time

well the witching hour is well and truly under way in our house will be back later....

andiem · 06/08/2007 18:18

she didn't ask me about my feelings though more interested in my bits

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 18:29

LOL andiem.....you'll be getting to that stage where you undress for an internal even if you're only there for a sore throat

TA, I'm sorry to hear about your DS, but at least now you know what it is you can deal with it. I quite like cardboatd towels....not so nice on babyboo's delicate bottom though.

DD has been asleep all afternoon...I know I'll suffer for it later!

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 19:55

Urgh...my house is infested with flying ants

We realised at the weekend that pretty much all of our (small) front garden is home to a rather large colony of ants. The flying ones have been emerging from holes all over our garden and yesterday we discovered ants in the house itself. We thought they were getting in where the phone cable comes in and that they were coming in from outside the house. We bought some poison and bunged up all the obvious holes outside. When I checked today there was very little ant activity going on. DCs and I went out this afternoon, and when we came back there were literally hundreds of flying ants in the hall and they were popping out of the hole by the phone cable at the rate of 1 every few seconds. None outside, so they must be coming directly from the nest into the house

I've now got ant poison in the hall and it seems to have stopped, but eeeeewwww. DS and I had to swat all of the flying ones so it's now like an ant bloodbath out there. I generally don't bother much about creepy crawlies (except spiders) but I feel all itchy and unclean now. horrible horrible things

andiem · 06/08/2007 20:26

yeuk poor you Daisy I would hate that

sputnik · 06/08/2007 21:04

Daisy sounds like they were swarming, was it thundery? Should bee ok by tomorrow.
Re the nappies, sometimes they can get crusty from detergent build-up too, try washing them with nothing on high temp, and put white vinegar in the conditioner tray. I've heard they fluff-up nicely in the tumble dryer, but not very eco-friendly unless you can justify it with the fact it's actually raining!
My nappies are rather crusty too as I live in limescale central here.

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 21:28

Not thundery, but hot and humid. We thought they were just hatching out the ones that go off to start new colonies.......not in my hallway though.....

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 21:40

i think i'll tumble dry them first time after the vinegar treatment.

Does it have to be white vinegar? will light malt not do?

loonylovegood · 06/08/2007 22:11

Tumble dry? The nappies or the ants?

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 22:18

LOL Holly....maybe both!

I think I'm ovulating...fark fark fark. I thought I would get much more of a reprieve from periods with this BF malarkey. It's so not fair!

bumperlicious · 06/08/2007 22:22

Hi all, Trace, glad you are back, sounds like things are a bit better for you. Hope you are trucking along.

TA, what a revelation for you. It's not great that DS has reflux but at least you know now and can do something about it. What would we do without MN!

We are back home now. Still not got running drinking water, though we can boil the tap water now to drink or cook with it. Who knows when it will be back to normal?! It was a lovely break, but glad to be home. My dad and 2 little bro's met DD for first time today and thought she was gorgeous.

Am knackered. DD fed at 11 last night, then woke at 1.30, fed but didn't sleep till 3.30, up again at 5, fed then awake for another couple of hours! Could it be because of the heat?

bumperlicious · 06/08/2007 22:23

Daisy - you have mail!

bumperlicious · 06/08/2007 22:26

I didn't have an internal for my 6 week check, nor did I have the relationship or contraception talk . And with regards to DD the dr just said "I saw you playing with her in the waiting room and knew you were alright"

Charlie999 · 06/08/2007 22:26

my DD was the same Bumper - 3 x 6oz feeds at 1am, 5am and 7,30am - I put it down to the heat as well.

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 22:27

Holly, one of the women on the pg after MC thread had her baby last week....11lb 5ozs . Makes your DS seem like a tiddler by comparison!

How's his weight doing? has he settled down yet or still crossing centiles?

DD is driving me bonkers with her feeding. I was getting her latched on, then moving my arm to support her head, leaving the other hand free (to eat/drink/MN etc) but over the last week when I move my hand off my boob and settle my arm under her head she comes off. So I'm having to hold her head with one hand and my boob with the other and it's very very tiring and sore on the forearms. She's also on again/off again all the time, especially on the left. My nipples felt macerated again over the weekend

bumperlicious · 06/08/2007 22:31

Daisy, my dd is exactly the same on the left. She can't seem to stay latched on. She just shakes her head or just seem to slip off and chew. Ordinarily I would read it as a sign of her being done but it's before she has even feed. Don't know what it wrong with her, it's just the last day or so and only on the left.

bumperlicious · 06/08/2007 22:33

I wouldn't normally force her on when she is being like this as I assume she is done, but if I hold her long enough she eventually goes on, but I feel bad forcing her, and not sure if it's really what she wants and can't now tell when she is done

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/08/2007 22:38

Hi everyone!

Daisy - ewe! Flying ants are awful aren't they! We had them in the kitchen a few weeks ago - we have tonnes of ant bait traps scattered about the place and an ultra sonic thingy thats plugged into the wall in the hall that prevents them coming in the house.

Bumper - I seem to have the 2 hour feeding pattern throughout the night every night and it's really doing my head in! I'm going to replace one of those feeds with water (as in Gina Ford book) to try to discourage the constant late night snacking!

Talking of feeding - what should I do!? LO has hardly slept at all today - but finally fell asleep at about 9pm - but he is usually due a feed about now - but he's not showing any signs of waking up - should I try and wake him or leave him be and go to bed myself?

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 22:41

I didn't even have a six week check. Our PCT leave it up to you to make an appointment if you feel you need one. I do, but keep forgetting to make the appointment.

DD going for her fist lot of jabs tomorrow. I feel so cruel, inflicting pain on the poor wee soul.

The heat has made her sleep more than anything, but she does seem to be guzzling more when she does feed.

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/08/2007 22:42

leave him be DKMA. I find that bDD won't feed if she isn't awake and ready for it. she just purses up her lips and no amount of cajoling will make her open up!

Bumper, I've sent you a reply!

bumperlicious · 06/08/2007 22:51

I sometimes have that dilemma DKMA. I know that sometimes if I don't wake her and feed her she will wake me up soon after I have gone to bed and I feel like crap! Whereas I can feed her then if I am lucky get a good 4 hours or so! But I worry that if I wake her she won't go back to sleep.

loonylovegood · 06/08/2007 22:51

Wow, my ds is teeny compared to that baby! I would say ouch, but ds was much easier to get out than dd, so as they say size isn't everything!!

Not sure what his weight is doing really, haven't had him weighed in a while! Our 6 week check is this week sometime, but I've lost the letter and can't really be arsed to go! I'll prob just take him to baby clinic on thurs morning. I really should go to the dr myself, I'm really not sure that things are back to normal IYKWIM. I think I have been broken!

William has literally been feeding every 1-2 hours all day! I'm shattered! Really should go to bed, but this is the first time I've had by myself all day and I don't want to spoil it with sleep!!
