foxybrown · 26/07/2007 16:46

Have just made me and DP sound like right alcoholics! we're are not. really.

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/07/2007 16:48

I learnt very early on to steer clear of sherbet lemon sweets.

I ate a whole packet in the hospital and DD was up screaming all blardy night!

Thankfully she's fine with American Hard Gums

andiem · 26/07/2007 16:54

curry is definitely one for us the nappy was incredible jet propelled such a shame as it is one takeaway option gone and I lurve a good curry

Daisy you put me to shame I have only managed to change the beds today and I thought I was doing well

I haven't been drinking at all...maybe I should start

foxybrown · 26/07/2007 17:06

Right, tea time for my terrors! The only good thing about that is its only 2 more steps to bed time.

Tea, bath and bed. The worst, but also most welcome, part of the day.

Fingers crossed baby girl sleeps through it.

dm1 · 26/07/2007 17:15

Hey all,
Have had busy few days so not even lurking on Mumsnet - amazing!
DD had 8 week jabs today. Even though she's not 2 months I gave her a bit of calpol and she is now completely zonked!!

It's mine and dh's first night out tonight without dd - am so excited but also scared. My mum is looking after her and I'm wondering if ringing up every 15 mins is too much .

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/07/2007 17:49

but andie, it's the first time this place has been hoovered and dusted since before babyboo was born

and the only reason i dusted was because DS had made patterns on top of the dvd player and it looked obvious

I now have about six months worth of paperwork to sift through, and another mountain of laundry.....

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/07/2007 17:51

Hi dm1...the joy of calpol .

I hope she's not too upset by her jabs.

DD will need to get hers when she is 9 wks as we're on holiday next week.

andiem · 26/07/2007 17:51

andiem confesses that she has claener who does all ironing so changing beds is only housework she really does

dm1 · 26/07/2007 17:58

We used to have a cleaner until I went on mat leave and let them go thinking I'd do it all myself seeing as I wouldn't have anything else to with my time. How little I knew......def going to get them back when we get back from hols - cannot wait.
Don't have many extravagances - happy to shop at H&M and drink wine that'a a fiver but a good cleaner is worth their weight in calpol!

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/07/2007 17:59

I need to convince DH that we need someone in to do the ironing. Not sure our current budget will stretch to it though.

I usually have a full day ironing session once a month, then set off with good intentions of folding things neatly off the line/out of the drier so it won't need ironing, but that lasts about a week before I throw it all in a big heap and let it build up into a mountain again.

I'm really crap in that regard.

And I can't remember the last time I did the bath

andiem · 26/07/2007 18:06

dm1 I made that mistake when I had ds not this time the cleaner is my one luxury and I am not giving her up my dh doesn't do any domestics so he is happy!

annobal · 26/07/2007 18:49

Oooh - I love my cleaner. She also does our ironing and looks after T&G for me. She's lovely .

Feeling much better after having the day in bed. Not sure what I'll do next week when DH is back at work

annobal · 26/07/2007 19:02

Foxy, and everyone else who would like to come, are you still up for a visit to Hornimans? Maybe not next week but the week after?

Charlie999 · 26/07/2007 19:22

Hi - help from CCLB people please.

Have to say a lot of it I think I'm half way there on already - a lot of it is common sense - its just my timings are a bit off.

for example, DD was slept from 10pm last night till 4am and then 4.30am (after a feed) till 8am. She stayed awake all morning and then slept from 12.15pm and apart from a feed at 4pm has slept all afternoon till 6.45pm and is wide awake (and happy) atm. She will probably get fed about 9ish tonight.

My question is, which of the "Routines" do I start her on as she is nearly 8 weeks old and is still taking a night feed?

Daisy, your DD is same age as mine - which did you start her on? Are you able to wake her up? Does she take enough milk when she has been woken?

Sorry, lots of questions

TIA

Hope everyone is well

Oww Annobal - need to get that checked I should think!

annobal · 26/07/2007 19:26

Hi Charlie, start her on the 8 week routine. Wake her at 10ish for evening feed (i found that mine tended to wake around this time anyway). Just feed her when she wakes in the night after that.

Charlie999 · 26/07/2007 19:29

Great thanks - 4 hours sleep in the day doesn't sound like very much - not sure I'll manage to keep her awake that long - she'll be a right misery-guts . Can only try....

annobal · 26/07/2007 19:35

I spoke to MW about the stitches and TMI ALERT...

...the bit that had come 'undone' seems to have come off but does feel a lot better now

foxybrown · 26/07/2007 19:36

Sounds like you are doing very well Charlie! Am quite jealous of those of you in routines - have to keep reminding myself that Eve is only 2 weeks old

I can't do next week or the week after, but I can do the following on 15/16/17th. Any good to you? Infact, anytime after the 15th suits me.

Righto, off to do a ropey old dinner, cobbled together from the freezer

foxybrown · 26/07/2007 20:09

Errr, Annobal - what has come off??

DP wants laptop, so I'm signing off. speak to you all tomorrow xx

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/07/2007 20:13

OMG Annobal Is it still hurting? Did you find the bit?

Charlie, I started her on the 6-8 week routine and she seems to have slipped into it pretty easily. I'm amazed that she settles herself to sleep. I've been swaddling her and leaving her and she talks to herself for a bit and then nods off. I've found I've hardly used her dummy this week as well.

For waking her up, I've just unswaddled her and stroked her cheek and she's woken up pretty much herself.

I'm not sticking to the exact timings, like today she slept for an hour in the morning and three at lunchtime and only had a catnap at teatime, but she was in bed for about 10 past seven.

I've been getting DS ready for bed, then letting him play or read a book while I feed DD, then I settle her, DS gets his story and I'm done by 7:30.

I feel so much better about life this week as well and having the routine is certainly helping me cope.

I'm so chuffed that I'm sitting in my living room looking at tidy dust-free shelves, instead of dust paper and junk laden ones. And I can walk across the carpet in bare feet and not have things sticking to me!

The rest of the house is still chaotic, but at lease one room is done.

LOL, sorry for waffling on so much. You're going to get all my day's missing posts at once

annobal · 26/07/2007 20:50

LOL Daisy - it actually feels much better. Seeing MW tomorrow anyway (had a panicked call to her last night as well).

I haven't started a routine with DS3 yet but have to admit that they do help me to feel a little more in control of my life..

I can't do 15th but okay for either 16th or 17th. Should we say 16th?

bumperlicious · 26/07/2007 21:15

Hi all

Hi to finky and sunshine - welcome to the nuthouse! Don't worry about us all know each other, it's just an illusion! Half of us are hairy truckeres and the other half really teenage boys

DD been feeding really bizarrely past couple of days, every 2 hours or so, feeding for ages and I feel really empty all the time so not sure how much she is getting. Last night she fed from both boobs then took another 3oz or so expressed milk! Slept 6 hours then fed for an hour, then again hour and a half later, and pretty much like that since. doeasn't seem right, she is pretty whingy too which is unlike her. Trying to express so my mum can do a feed but I'm empty. Got 3oz this morning then nearly 1oz this afternoon, no nothing. I wonder if all the upheaval of coming to my mum's is taking it's toll. Taking it's toll on me, really missing DH, and just want to be at home, but don't know when our county will get water back. Can't do washing, flush toilets etc. and it's not like we can even go to launderette or public loos coz no-one has water. Can't stay here much longer though, going home saturday regardless.

Ouch for you annobal. And well done on the domestic goddess front daisy.

No routine here yet. need to get a different book I think, plus it's difficult at my mums. Not sure I want to get up a 7am, but at least it should be after a good night's sleep.

andiem · 26/07/2007 21:23

well done daisy domestic goddess you've certainly achieved more than me today

annobal hope nothing important has come adrift glad you are seeing the mw tomorrow

I can't do that week for horniman as will be in devon on hols but will be back week after and could do anyday wed onwards

hi to everyone else need to go to bed now zzzzzzzzzzzz

bumperlicious · 26/07/2007 21:29

i can do 16th, but dh is off that week so week after would be better. don't thing we'll be able to co-ordinate everyone though!

derlor · 26/07/2007 21:31

evening, just droping in to say farewell to you all. We are off on holiday tomorrow yay!!
So, behave yourselves and i'll be back in a week xx
