Apologies if anyone has started this - I can't see one anywhere. Thought we could all meet up here to discuss our newborn darlings.
My little man is doing well - this is day five (I think!). He is feeding well but my nipples are sore - am sure my latch is OK but I suppose it can't be. MW comes tomorrow so will ask her. He's got lots of wet and dirty nappies so milk must be going down OK. He feeds lots in the day and then about 3 times between 8pm-8am. Slept from 2.30am to 8am today. Feeling proud of self as managed trip to playgrund this morning with him in sling and dd in buggy. Managed a 45 min play and about 30 min walk and he slept the whole time. It's as scary going out the first time with him as it was with dd!

Anyway, will stop whittering! Had a few tears (mine) yesterday as I was looking at him and thinking how lucky I am to have two lovely children. Couldn't stop crying. Hormones, hey?
How are the rest of you doing? Wonder who'll be next to pop? Highlander has her section on Monday, I think.....

charleepeters · 06/07/2005 21:07

anyway - wow my ds the smaleest Sept baby on here???? he was 6lb 13oz when born

mandyc66 · 06/07/2005 21:13

ds4 was 9lb 15 and almost 2 weeks early!

blossomgirl · 06/07/2005 21:23

hi i havnt posted here for ages, and this seems like a lovely thread and although i don't recognise anyones names i hope its ok to pop up! always was a sept 04, ds was born one month early on 26 Aug but im sept programmed!!! nearly one year on still daft in the hed..

what made me stop was fairycakes..know what you meant about the drinking thing, this is how we cracked it... we have some small stainless steel mugs and ds gots one of those to play with when we had coffee, likes talking into it most (latest is golly golly golly ), but did the bishy bashy thing, look at myself in the bottom, copy sips, then we added guided pretend sips. We left it like that for quite a while. Then we progressed to real sips of a drip of milk / water we put in the bottom of his mug and then move onto two sips etc.

Real messy (and fun!) when we missed the odd sip, or he tried to talk to it, but ds seemed to "get" the beaker when we finally bought one.

Also played about with a baby straw off a juice carton dipped in a shot glass of water.. good to see the level go up and down (washback king !) and nice for me to hold down easy. i hold the straw about 1.5 cm from the end too so he doesnt get to try and swallow in one. hth
worn out now after all that!

mandyc66 · 06/07/2005 21:27

daft in the head remains a permanent thing I fear!!!! lol

fairycakes · 08/07/2005 20:17

ah thanks blossomgirl, thats some good advice, i'll give it a go!

dd weighed 7lbs exactly when born, 1 week late, and now at 1 week off 10 months she weighs 21lbs 5 oz

mumto2boys · 08/07/2005 22:04

Hello everyone! Haven't been online for ages but have now noticed so many posts!! (I am Jacksmumto1 btw if you read the start of this thread!!)

reading through everyones comments... and following those to tell you about ds2!

Ds2 (born Sept 1st) isn't crawling yet but is now "walking" with support.. have a feeling he won't crawl.. But he gets about.. somehow!

He weighs 18lb 10oz (was 6lb 60z at birth) and is on 9thC but tbh, you wouldn't think that watching him eat!!

He is a very giggly baby - real bellylaugh giggles - so cute! He only has to look at ds1 and he is laughing! Ds2 is into everything - if you have it.. he has to hold it... I can forsee trouble ahead when he is able to move properly!!

Ds2 finally started to sleep through at 9 months - up until then, I was still feeding him (bf) at 2-3am.. He now goes from 7pm-5.30am.. would love it if we could stretch that to 6.30am .. but so be it!

Podmog - I am in the Bristol area if you are ever interested in a meet-up. It would be lovely to have some friends with children ds2's age (rather than all ds1's friends ...) for him to play with. CAT me if you would be interested?

How all the babies today? Can't believe that their first birthdays are approaching... only seems like yesterday that we were pregnant and excitedly awaiting their births!

charleepeters · 08/07/2005 22:08

DS is fine and can i jsut say - did we have the same baby! Ds was exactly the same with his sleeping and eating (like a horse!) Hes doing ok exceot the scare we had today (thread here ) but apart from that hes really well he never stops smiling and laughing - hes the best!

mumto2boys · 08/07/2005 22:13

That is so scary Charlee... Have you asked your GP for advice?

Ds2 was a terrible snuffly baby and we had a spell when he was about 3mths when we woke in the night to hear him choking - it was awful. Our GP said that it was because he was snuffly and all we could do was raise the head of his bed... thankfully he seems to have "grown out of it" but I can never forget that night...

Perhaps we have twin babies?! As you said... he is the best!!

charleepeters · 08/07/2005 22:16

Ds was really snuffly - they said it was because all the stuff he swallowed in the birth canal as he was throwing up brown stuff the day he was born but he still snorts when he cries - bless him he sounds like a piggy! he has a special pillow in his cot for it as he couldnt breath well when laying flat as soon as we put it in his cot he slept through the night!

mandyc66 · 09/07/2005 07:44

my ds4 was sleeping really well finally then we got that spell of hot weather (remember that) and he started waking in the night and now it seems to be a habbit!! He is in bed by 7 though and wakes anywehere betweem 1 and 5 but usually goes down again till 6.30 when we get up!!
He has just eaten the hugest bowl of readybrek!! What does yours have for brekkie?

charleepeters · 09/07/2005 07:49

Ds has wheatabix made with water - he loves it, either that or the porrige that you add water to

mandyc66 · 09/07/2005 07:51

why water?
I avoid weekabix cos of salt..but I am fussy!!!!

mumto2boys · 09/07/2005 19:10

I give both ds's weetabix or real porridge made with milk (I choose real as it has nothing added). They both like fruit so often have a banana to munch on while I am making the rest of the breakfast. I sometimes offer toast with or without jam and sometimes they have a yoghurt (or even 2!). Sometimes they have beans on toast instead of weetabix/porridge.

Actually.... they would eat anything I offered - real gannets!!!

charleepeters · 09/07/2005 19:21

He has water in it as hes completley Dairy intolerent - its a bit more complicated than that but basicly he cant eat anything that has seen the inside of an animal (except meat) anyway he has a special formula the same one as they use for people in space apparently but if i mix it with anything i.e cereal/mashed potatoe ect its makes it go horrible and curdly. and i buy the really cheap wheatabix purley becasue they dont have salt in them like the expensiver ones

Its really hard feeding him but we manage - today he discovered seedless grapes and loved them

mandyc66 · 11/07/2005 20:19

I used to nanny for a boy who had the milk they waen pigs on!! He was even allergic to breast milk! I sympathise!!! did i sound bolshy..sorry!! Didnt mean to!!! My ds4 has had a good drink out of a cup today..must have been waiting till he was really thirsty before he admitted he could do it!!!! He also decided he likes yorkshire pudding!!!!! good lad!!!

mandyc66 · 12/07/2005 12:21

he drank properly from a cup yesterday!! obviously waiting till he was thirsty!!!

fredly · 12/07/2005 13:10

happy 10monthary to your ds, Podmog !!

cosmos · 12/07/2005 13:13

Hello everyone,
great to read the threads and recognise what youre going through, hope its not too late to join in,been a mumsnetter for a while but been offline for ages due to a computer problem.
Anyway,my son was born on 8th september at 38 weeks, induced, weighed 6lb 1oz.Hes now over 8.5kg(live in france so cant remember what that is in pounds!)He loves eating lamb, couscous, peppers, rasberries,no baby food apart from baby rice which he makes a face at but accepts.Anything he doesnt like mouth shuts and face turns away, even stuff hes never tried before, must be the smell..
Hes got NO teeth yet,so I was wondering are there any other september mums waiting for the tooth event?Keep thinking hes teething but then nothing..

fredly · 12/07/2005 13:20

hello cosmos and welcome !
A friend of mine called the nhs not long ago because she was concerned about her 11months old ds complete lack of teeth. They say it is nothing to worry about, the first one can appear as late as 2.5 years ! . I didn't have this problem, my dd cut her first ones at 3months and has now got 7.
Where in France do you live ?

charleepeters · 12/07/2005 13:33

Hi Cosmos, Ds has no teeth yet, there lurking quite visably underthe gum but havent arrived yet, hes been having teething syptome for months and months!

Mandy - no you didnt sound boulshey! dont worry, i am fussy what i feed DS on , Dp sneeks him the odd biscuit here and there when im not looking! he has a real sweet tooth but i make him eat his fruit and veg (boring, mummy alert!) as you can see when hes older im going to be the bad guy and daddy will be his hero .

mandyc66 · 12/07/2005 15:55

we have one!!! one little tooth
Dont worry ds3 got his just about all in one go!!!

ruty · 13/07/2005 11:35

i don't understand why my ds has 8 teeth! Why so soon? And he won't let me brush them, or cut his nails, he is so stubborn Wonder where he gets that from? Hmm. He's gone off crawling, jnever really did it much - he just wants to stand all the time. Starting to stand on his onw for a few seconds then falls on his bum!

melgreenmum · 13/07/2005 16:05

Have put the odd post from time to time but am not an expert forum user.

DS has 2 little teeth (he born 20th sept) - came together at end of June. Don't worry they will come - we had an NHS dental nurse come and chat at M+B group she said any time upto 18 months is normal for first 8 and yes they can all come much earlier than that

fredly · 13/07/2005 16:49

there's a genetic aspect to it as well, I was born with teeth and my dd had them very early.
