Apologies if anyone has started this - I can't see one anywhere. Thought we could all meet up here to discuss our newborn darlings.
My little man is doing well - this is day five (I think!). He is feeding well but my nipples are sore - am sure my latch is OK but I suppose it can't be. MW comes tomorrow so will ask her. He's got lots of wet and dirty nappies so milk must be going down OK. He feeds lots in the day and then about 3 times between 8pm-8am. Slept from 2.30am to 8am today. Feeling proud of self as managed trip to playgrund this morning with him in sling and dd in buggy. Managed a 45 min play and about 30 min walk and he slept the whole time. It's as scary going out the first time with him as it was with dd!

Anyway, will stop whittering! Had a few tears (mine) yesterday as I was looking at him and thinking how lucky I am to have two lovely children. Couldn't stop crying. Hormones, hey?
How are the rest of you doing? Wonder who'll be next to pop? Highlander has her section on Monday, I think.....

mandyc66, if your little one is behind, I wonder where my dd is !! she's making no effort to crawl, sits on her bum quite happily for ages ! she also eats like a horse (beat that: a veggie soup last night with 1/2banana with blueberries and a petit filou !) She doesn't wave - simply because we don't - but has started hugging us like mad ! it feels so good when she does ! .
How are the rest of our Sept babies ?

fredly · 25/07/2005 15:24

hey Charleepeters, just read one of your old posts about your ds' bad temper. Do you think his diet could be in cause ? just asking because I noticed that when I started giving my dd fruit juice it made her completely hyper because of the sugar.

mandyc66 · 26/07/2005 09:44

ds has started doing this really cute slow motion crawl and keeps heading for the stairs watchin us as he goes to see if we had noticed!!
We went out for tea the other night he ate all his tea then happily chomped through his older brothers too!!! he is here now trying to pull himself up on a chair, but not sure how!!..ooops down he goes!!! He is probably my last so I dont mind him being slow!!! as long as I am not the one slowing him down!!!!

mandyc66 · 27/07/2005 16:54

crawling speeding up a bit now!!!
He is still waking in the night though!!!

fredly · 27/07/2005 20:19

and another tooth ! that's 8 ! next on the agenda, mollars . But no progress on the crawling front, although she looks more and more like she wants to go but is too scared of bumping her head yet another time !
and she's been a bit grumpy lately, I think she's slowly switching from 3 naps to 2 but it needs some time getting used to.
She had split pea soup for the 1st time tonight and loved it, as well as my homemade panetone ! that's my girl !

dejags · 27/07/2005 20:21

Have been reading about everybody's babies' sleeping habits.

DS is atrocious,he wakes between 2 & 10 times a night. I have given up.

Is anybody else in the same boat?

charleepeters · 27/07/2005 20:32

Hi all how are all oue sept mummys and babies?

We took DS to the zoo today he seemed to really like it, especially when we went on the train

He cut his first tooth yesterday whihc i was so excited about so weve been brushing it today he found it so funny!
I think he gets his temper from me as mines terrible
He did take about 5 steps by himself but has stopped again but he can stand for a little while unaided and is still cruising no sign of crawling at all hes just not interested!

His new game is to feed me what ever hes holding then i have you say 'mmmmm nummies' he laughs and does it again its so cute!

charleepeters · 27/07/2005 20:33

Opps forgot to add - hes now back to sleeping form 6pm - 6am everynight as i posted earlier saying we had a spell of night time waking!

charleepeters · 27/07/2005 20:35

Oh and he does waving and nodding to!
Cna say mum, dad, nan and no

sorry im being a prud mum i was worried he was slow again!

dinny · 27/07/2005 21:01

I am, Dejags - ds wakes up every couple of hours. Just gone back to work, really really want a miracle to happen and him sleep through!

melgreenmum · 28/07/2005 08:55

my ds still sits happilly - quite good at turning himself round using his arms to take some weight but no desire to go anywhere.

LIke many he eats well will pretty much eat anything offered and chew it up with gums+ 2 teeth.

sleeping is successful 6-6. he does wake up and play and chatter in the night but i never go to him before 6- and usually leave it a bit longer have been known to let him play in his cot for an hour or so. I always tank him up with an 8oz bottle at bed time.

charleepeters · 28/07/2005 09:00

LOL melgreenmum thats what i do with ds! he drinks his 8oz bed time bottle in his cot then is flat out of the night!

He eats 3 meals a day and has 3 bottles 8oz milk.

mandyc66 · 28/07/2005 09:06

mine wakes 2 to 4 times a night!!
When DH is off in a couple of weeks I am going to make him offer him a cup instead of me just sticking him on a boob. Might decide its not worth waking for!!!! I blamed the hot weather, but not sure now, maybe he is cold!!!!

charleepeters · 28/07/2005 09:07

To be honest with you the only thing that ever worked to teach ds he couls sleep without a feed was letting him cry it out, i would go in stroke his head reassure him im there then leave and in 10 mins everytime he was asleep.

mandyc66 · 28/07/2005 09:11

i am too lazy. easier to feed and get back to sleep!!!!never had this before!!! all others slept through from 10 to 14 weeks!!

melgreenmum · 28/07/2005 15:03

It is so hard to know what to say about a night waking baby cos it does seem to be pot luck as to whether you get a waker and what works for one to cure it doesn't work for someone else - hence a million different books and theories. with the too hot too cold thing do you use a "grobag" I found I had to leave Ds unzipped when it was really hot. Also I give him loads of soft toys in his cot and he likes to play with them at 4 am!! We have always when we hear him crying "leave him 5 mins parents" both when utting him down and when he wakes in the evening/ night breaks our hearts but alway falls asleep in 10 mins now no matter how pent up he sounds seconds before. The one time I did try feeding him/ placating/ cuddles he just screamed for an hour and I ended up putting him in his cot and listening for 15 mins - we were sharing a hotel room - he was able to settle himself better than I could!

melgreenmum · 28/07/2005 15:06

ds has 3 meals + snack of fruit and biscuit at nursery + as much as 4 6oz bottles + 1 8oz bottle

charleepeters · 28/07/2005 15:06

We went shopping today and broght Ds a peek a blocks from early learning center (there having a big sale!) it only cost a £10 and its a girrafe with a hole at the op and bottom and lotsd of see through blocks with animals and rattles inside and when put them in the top of the girrafe it plays music and comes back out the end! bargin hes been playing with it all afternoon

melgreenmum · 28/07/2005 15:53

Did you spend enough to get your free beauty treatment as advertised at the bottom of the mumsnet PAGE?

I keep toying with the blocks - they were on sale in Mothercare too - just the blocks different kinds - DS has two (got them as a goodie bag present at a first B'day) that he loves shaking!

mandyc66 · 28/07/2005 18:59

i have registered my vouchwer but not heard from salon!!
Think I just have to go with wakeful nights I suppose 1 out of 5 isnt too bad!!!

highlander · 30/07/2005 15:46

dejags, DS is waking every hour some nights. I class a good night as only every 2 hours. I'm exhausted. I'm trying to do the Pantley pull off (he's BF) but we're only about 3 days into it.

highlander · 30/07/2005 15:48

Oh, and DS can now crawl. I now fully understand the meaning of that well-worn phrase "he's into everything"

dinny · 30/07/2005 18:47

what's the Pantley pull-off, Highlander?

how's it going being back in UK?

OP posts:
highlander · 31/07/2005 12:34

the PPO (from the No-Cry sleep solution) is where you remove the boob once you think your sprog is dropping off. You keep doing it until he falls asleep without boob in his mouth. I wasn't having much luck with it as DS is feed lying on a pillow. Last night I feed him more upright in the crook of my arm and he slept.......... for 3 whole hours!! He woke up every hour, but settled himself back to sleep. Even at 5am I just had to pick him up and he conked out again. He's never done that!

Of course, he'll be up a lot tonight I bet....

Back in the UK is OK. Weather a bit pants though isn't it?

Charlee · 17/08/2005 18:27

Well after ds's steps! hes now decided he doesnt want ot walk after all unless hes pushing his cart or holding onto the furniture but apparently the h.v said this is normal.
He has 2 teeth but thats all it seems other baies have loads compared to him poor lamb but it doesnt stop him eating he goes for it big style! were introducing him back onto cows milk to see if his dairy intolerence has gone and were doing well so far.
We have to take him on a 28 hr flight in Nov were imergrating to NZ but we get a 6 hr break in HOng Kong on the way!

Hope everyone else is ok were a bit quiet!
