Apologies if anyone has started this - I can't see one anywhere. Thought we could all meet up here to discuss our newborn darlings.
My little man is doing well - this is day five (I think!). He is feeding well but my nipples are sore - am sure my latch is OK but I suppose it can't be. MW comes tomorrow so will ask her. He's got lots of wet and dirty nappies so milk must be going down OK. He feeds lots in the day and then about 3 times between 8pm-8am. Slept from 2.30am to 8am today. Feeling proud of self as managed trip to playgrund this morning with him in sling and dd in buggy. Managed a 45 min play and about 30 min walk and he slept the whole time. It's as scary going out the first time with him as it was with dd!

Anyway, will stop whittering! Had a few tears (mine) yesterday as I was looking at him and thinking how lucky I am to have two lovely children. Couldn't stop crying. Hormones, hey?
How are the rest of you doing? Wonder who'll be next to pop? Highlander has her section on Monday, I think.....

thanks for moving us up the list a bit charlee . My dd has also discovered that the standing position is not that bad after all and takes every opportunity to use us as climbing frames ! but she can't stand on her own yet and I don't think she'll ever crawl, although you never know. I take her to the pool every week and she's much more mobile in water. I think mollars are coming through and it seems to hurt much more than the first 8 teeth, she's been grumpy lately.

oh and she claps her hands when we say 'bravo', feeds mummy and kisses us Eskimo style !! so cute !!
I'm scratching my head to find ideas for her 1st birthday. We'll be in France at that time, so a party is not possible. What do you all have in store for yours ?

Oh this all sounds so familiar!! ds2 only has 2 teeth so Charlee your ds isn't alone! He is also cruising really well but much prefers to hold our fingers.. in fact the tantrums we have if we can't "walk" with him! I didn't think he would crawl at all but today he showed us that he could crawl.. he just would rather walk!! He is such a cheeky chappie - used to screw up his nose all the time but I for some unknown reason taught him to stick his tongue out!!

I can't belive that it will be ds2's birthday on thursday - a whole year will have gone past! Where has time gone? We are having a family party with one set of grandparents (other GP live too far away) and I have promised ds1 who is 3, that we will have balloons and party hats!

Happy Birthday to all September babies!!!!

DS is actively cutting 2 molars. For the last week he's been waking nearly every hour. He gets some Nurofen and some teething powder before his bath, but I can't see any difference

And I can see them bulging on the other side of his mouth too........

Oh, and just for extra kicks, he's decided to drop his afternoon nap.
I'm sooooooooo tired and unhappy.

Oh I feel for you Highlander! I don't think ds2 will ever get any more teeth (even though I can see them under the gum) but I remember ds1's pain.

If it helps you feel "not alone" ... ds2 dropped his 2nd nap at 10mths... he's tired, he's grumpy but he will not nap - oh no! He is also insistant at the mo at waking at 5am ready to play and with a poopy nappy... so I have to get up and focus so I can change him... Don't you forget those newborn frequent wakings so easily!?

Hope your ds gets his teeth soon and lets you sleep... Are you able to nap during his morning nap?

Hello everyone,
sympathies for you highlander,we have teething troubles here as well..ds is literally deweaning himself, hardly taking any solids in the last few days, have to tempt him with anything and anything, but most the time he just turns his face away and keeps his mouth tight shut.He will, however, find any bit of fluff, paper, hair, and try and swallow that instead. His first tooth started coming through two weeks ago and is still not quite there, agonising for both of us.
For some reason I always thought teething would be a breeze, how wrong can you get!

at last the molars are both through and we're getting a decent night's sleep

Sadly he reacted badly to the last of his 5-in-1 last week. Very high temp, swollen hot leg, swollen face. Poor wee soul has been single-hndedly keeping the Nurofen industry alive for the last few weeks

As my GP said, 'Ibuprofen; the miracle drug'

But today ................HAPPY BIRTHDAY DS!!!!!!!

Yahoo, yahoo, I survived the first year without topping myself

well it was dd's first birthday yesterday! i was very emotional, i cant believe she is one! we went to chester zoo in the morning and had a small tea party in the afternoon. she got millions of toys which she was loving - but her favourite was the mini pushchair we bought her and the girly handbag my mum bought! she looks so grown up! she has just started to walk when pushing onto things and spent most of her party pushing her buggy round with her handbag over her shoulder!
the molars are coming as her gums are so so swolen and white, but they seem to be taking forever!

I haven't been on for a while - hope you are all well!

Well DS is nearly 13 months old. He was walking confidently from just before his first birthday - he still only has four teeth but is cutting molars so there may be a few more soon.

I started a thread about his size - he's massive . Weighs 30lbs, head circumference is 50cms and he is 89cms tall.

How are your babies all doing?

PS: He is also finally sleeping through the night fairly reliably!!!! Hallelujah!!!

My dd has also greatly improved her mobility since we went to France 3 weeks ago, she started crawling there and it won't be long before she walks I think. She's also cutting teeth at the mo, mollars, and has got some sort of virus that's given her quite a high temp. So the poor darling is a bit grizzley these days and cries as soon as mummy moves 2 feet away from her . Hopefully she'll be better soon.
How is the rest of our Sept babies ?

oh dejags - sleeping through the night, you lucky, lucky thing! Did you get his ear infection sorted?

Report
dejags · 27/09/2005 09:45

Hi Highlander. How are you? Long time no hear. Is your little guy still keeping you up at night then?

Mind finally decided to start sleeping through the night on the 12th August (how sad that I actually know the date). The paediatrician says it is undoubtedly because his reflux is better (age related) and because we have finally sorted out his ears and nose (these have improved with age and lots of meds). He is finally medicine free and we have started introducing milk products very slowly with no side effects.

I firmly believe DS was such a bad sleeper because he was in pain and not because of bad habits. We haven't had to do controlled crying he just started sleeping through as soon as he was comfy.

Hope you are well.
dejags

It's great to watch, isn't it Charlee ?! It took my daughter swimming yeaterday, hadn't been for ages, and it's amazing how much more mobile and confident she is compared to last time. I could hardly hold her, she would throw herself in the water ! They also have a very handy beach area, where she would crawl until exhaustion ! She's also into her waving-to-anyone phase, which swimmers seems to find really entertaining

hello all, very quiet on the sept 04 babies front .
I would like to know if any of our babies has started nursery yet. I'm thinking about leaving my Elise 3 afternoons/week but it's terrifying me ! I feel like I'm abandoning her, getting rid of her. I feel so guilty. I want her to socialise and get the chance to play with other babies and other toys, I'm sure it would be good for her. But she's still so young and she's never been looked after by anyone except me and dh. I'm basically looking for reassurance here ! and if you have a good reasons for me NOT to send her, please share them with me.

Hi Fredly I am around

DS2 was born 4th September. He is a lovely chap - walking and trying to talk - if you ask him what sound a doggy makes he goes "woof woof" which is very cute. He is incredibly sociable and loves contact with other children - he is booked to go to Nursery from March next year.

i'm impressed dejags. My dd understands a few words but is nowhere near to saying anything articulated ! Mind you she's being brought up bilingually so it doesn't help, she has twice as much to take in. Bilingual children are in general later talkers. But we're very happy that the few words she knows are in both languages.
