Apologies if anyone has started this - I can't see one anywhere. Thought we could all meet up here to discuss our newborn darlings.
My little man is doing well - this is day five (I think!). He is feeding well but my nipples are sore - am sure my latch is OK but I suppose it can't be. MW comes tomorrow so will ask her. He's got lots of wet and dirty nappies so milk must be going down OK. He feeds lots in the day and then about 3 times between 8pm-8am. Slept from 2.30am to 8am today. Feeling proud of self as managed trip to playgrund this morning with him in sling and dd in buggy. Managed a 45 min play and about 30 min walk and he slept the whole time. It's as scary going out the first time with him as it was with dd!

Anyway, will stop whittering! Had a few tears (mine) yesterday as I was looking at him and thinking how lucky I am to have two lovely children. Couldn't stop crying. Hormones, hey?
How are the rest of you doing? Wonder who'll be next to pop? Highlander has her section on Monday, I think.....

Hey ladies! i hope you and your baba's are all well, im full of xmas spirit today!
Anyway just thought i would update on DS.

He has measles a mild formof them but hes still a spotty grump! He is going to playschool 3 days a week now for an hour and a half each day whilst i go to the gym next door. Hes having a playschool xmas part tommorrow, bless.

He is walking about 70% of the time and the rest hes cruising and doing alittle crawling, he can say loads of words now, and string two words together like go away! he has learnt the art of tantrums early just like his mum did!

He can feed himself with a spoon, and he can take his nappy off which he does in bed at night which is lovely, and he can get out of his cot! so when hes walking all the time we will have to get him a bed.

We have got him a walker that goes into a scooter for xmas and my first train set and a digger amongst other things i really do go over the top with presant buying, im like a big kid at xmas

Anyway ds loves the decorations and light we got up, hes descovered the chocs on the tree! Hes all boy though he loves diggers and tools ect.

LOL Fredly - I whooped at the frosty mornings this week and forced DS into his bargain puffa jacket!

Still not walking, although he'll take 3-4 steps before sitting down. He's looking more like a walker now - sticks his arms out for balance.

Words; he says mum, daddy, teeth, keys (keesh), yes, nana (banana), app (apple), bish (biscuit/generally hungry), chase, boon (balloon), boos (books). Note that most of his words are food-related, LOL .

We've got the canines erupting and he had slapped cheek last week. Not pleasant - temp for 4 days and he would only sleep in my arms last Saturday night. And this is the wee fella who will only normally settle in his own bed.

He points at stuff a lot, but has recently also started a sideways point. I have no idea what this means!!

talking about cot, dd fell off her bed this morning, with the sides up . dh was putting her nappy away and had left her in her cot thinking she would be safe, but she was not this time. Somehow she managed to fall over the side. But no harm done, just a big fright for everyone.
She's slightly better today, eating better and less clingy. The teeth are still not completely through though...
On the walking front, she's getting more confident, she lets go and wobbles her way to the next target !
I'm glad it's cold, she's soooo cute in her winter coat and her shapka

Ah poor you! Ds is teething hes got one really rosy cheek! he did some painting yesterday and yes we both got covered! i dont think he liked it that much though hes such a boyish boy he loves trucks and diggers ect, im gonna get him a dig ride on baby digger for xmas! Hes learned to get out of his cot with the side up though so im not sure what to do about that.

Glad to hear your ds is sleeping again charlee, a good night's sleep makes all the difference doesn't it?
It's a bit less rosy here these days. She's teething - I think there are more coming out than just the one mollar and a canine - so has basically stopped eating and is very wingey and clingy. She also has big white spots on her gums, more or less where the teeth are coming out. So it's back to the doctor's tomorrow mornning to check if it's not thrush or ulcers . Oh and she's got a cold as well, which she generously shared with mum and dad ! welcome to the tribe of drippy noses .

DS is a general cutie pie! hes sleeing again now thank god! Hes got 6 teeth 4 at the top and 2 at the bottom.
Hes doing well he can take a few steps before launching himself at me! but i think its a confidence ting becuase he will walk if hes holding onto his cart even if its with one hand dragging it behind him! lol

He can say a few word, just hello, bye, wowo (dog), dat (cat), and then mumma dadda nan and grandad the usual.

Doing great here too. dd's finally back to her normal self after having to fight german measles, various viruses, an eruption cyst, a mollar and a canine, all in the space of a month ! She now goes to nursery 3 afternoons per week and has settled in really well. She's not walking yet as such but manages 4 or 5 steps before diving into mummy or daddy's arms ! She also gives us lots of kisses, waves good bye and knows the cats names ! We love her so much.

Hi All,

How are you and your babies doing? My DS2 is doing so well.

He is 14 months now - he has LOST 1.2kgs (2.4lbs) in the last two months. I knew all along that this is what would happen - so he is now back at 28.6lbs.

Developmentally he is going great guns - no real words yet - he says woof-woof when he sees/or hears a dog which is really cute. He says bye-bye mama or bye-bye dada and doodoo (dummy). The best thing of all is that he gives real theatrical cuddles and kisses - he squeezes me tight, burying his head into my shoulder which is so lovely. He is also one for climbing on my knee whenever he can.

Anyway enough of me waffling - I am just enjoying him so much at the moment.

How are you all doing?

Belive me if it wasnt for all the changes hes had just latley he WOOULD be going to playschool, its the only time he gets to meet other babies, but saying that we had our first session of baby gym last weeks and he seemed to enjoy it although he didnt seem to want to play with the otherbabaies but it was his first time so maybe he will this week.

Anyway girls i had a terrible nigt last night to the poin where i was in tears, telling dp i should give ds to someone else as i was a crap mum who couldnt look after him properly, oh yes my great sleeper is no more! ever since we got here he has slept untill about 2am and then got up and played and refused to go to sleep. it emotionally and physically drained and im not quite sure what to do next, im obviously NOT going to give him up i still love him but im just feeling beaten down.

hope all of you are having better luck.

that's exactly why I did it, otherwise she would never see other kids. Both me and hubby are terribly shy and i don't want her to be.

highlander · 06/11/2005 18:10

that sounds fab Fredly. I think once DS is about 2 he'll benefit from a few hours a week away from me, mixing with other kids.

I agree with you highlander. My dd goes to nursery but only 3 afternoons/week for 3 hours each time. That's the absolute maximum for us, me and her !

it's an old-fashioned view, but I think nippers are best off with mum most of the time until they're 4.

ok so i goota confess i completely whimped out and cancled ds starting play school! i just really didnt think he was ready, i mean in the last 6 weeks hes moved house twice, once to the otherside of the world, lost his grandad and aunties and cousins and nan and met loads more people he doesnt know, i just didt think it was fair to introduce preschool now, please back me up here? im thinking of taking him to baby gym instead so i get to stay with him???

Anyway hes taken a few wobbly steps here and there, this morning he climbed out my bed waked round to the otherside got his bottle and a nappy bag and brought them to me, think he may of been trying to tell me something!

oh dear, we are crap aren't we?!

DS can say a few words, including bish for biscuit Not very good for my yummy mummy credentials! He's discovered that pointing occasionally results in getting what he points. Still not walking, but I didn't walk until 16 months so not bothered.

Still not sleeping through, although he is soooooooooooo much better now the molars are through. He's up and down a lot until midnight then generally sleeps until 6:30/7am. Happy with that, belive it or not. DH and I much more relaxed and happy as well as a result. Life is starting to feel a bit more normal again!

Hi just an update on DS he was 1 on the 15th Sept, hes taken a few wobbly steps but still prefers to cling on at the moment, hes saying quite a few words, and tells me when he needs changing (he does this by shouting bum, bum at me!) He is starting a nursery for 3 hrs a day 2 days a week next week im terrified but i have to work part time to keep my sanity! Hes a cheerfull little boy and has just learnt thumbs up which is so cute! anyway hope all you little ones are ok!

i'm impressed dejags. My dd understands a few words but is nowhere near to saying anything articulated ! Mind you she's being brought up bilingually so it doesn't help, she has twice as much to take in. Bilingual children are in general later talkers. But we're very happy that the few words she knows are in both languages.

Hi Fredly I am around

DS2 was born 4th September. He is a lovely chap - walking and trying to talk - if you ask him what sound a doggy makes he goes "woof woof" which is very cute. He is incredibly sociable and loves contact with other children - he is booked to go to Nursery from March next year.

hello all, very quiet on the sept 04 babies front .
I would like to know if any of our babies has started nursery yet. I'm thinking about leaving my Elise 3 afternoons/week but it's terrifying me ! I feel like I'm abandoning her, getting rid of her. I feel so guilty. I want her to socialise and get the chance to play with other babies and other toys, I'm sure it would be good for her. But she's still so young and she's never been looked after by anyone except me and dh. I'm basically looking for reassurance here ! and if you have a good reasons for me NOT to send her, please share them with me.

It's great to watch, isn't it Charlee ?! It took my daughter swimming yeaterday, hadn't been for ages, and it's amazing how much more mobile and confident she is compared to last time. I could hardly hold her, she would throw herself in the water ! They also have a very handy beach area, where she would crawl until exhaustion ! She's also into her waving-to-anyone phase, which swimmers seems to find really entertaining
