Apologies if anyone has started this - I can't see one anywhere. Thought we could all meet up here to discuss our newborn darlings.
My little man is doing well - this is day five (I think!). He is feeding well but my nipples are sore - am sure my latch is OK but I suppose it can't be. MW comes tomorrow so will ask her. He's got lots of wet and dirty nappies so milk must be going down OK. He feeds lots in the day and then about 3 times between 8pm-8am. Slept from 2.30am to 8am today. Feeling proud of self as managed trip to playgrund this morning with him in sling and dd in buggy. Managed a 45 min play and about 30 min walk and he slept the whole time. It's as scary going out the first time with him as it was with dd!

Anyway, will stop whittering! Had a few tears (mine) yesterday as I was looking at him and thinking how lucky I am to have two lovely children. Couldn't stop crying. Hormones, hey?
How are the rest of you doing? Wonder who'll be next to pop? Highlander has her section on Monday, I think.....

how is everyone doing?

dd was 12 weeks on monday - everything is great, she weighs 12lb 2oz - only put 2 oz on this week, after putting on an average of 8-10 every other week, so bit worried about this, and didnt get chance to discuss it with health visitor.....but apart from that everything is fine - had 2nd lot of jabs which was horrible for me, but she didnt seem to mind too much!!

hope everyone is ok?!

I haven't booked in for any jabs yet. I felt that 8wks was too young and I'm now holding out for another few weeks. The HV was very shirty on the phone before I went back to the UK.

Hi everyone, I put off ds's firt jabs till 10 weeks old as he had a cold. But I think there is more chance of a reaction the older they have them. I am not sure if this is true though. Will have his next lot a couple of weeks late too.
DS is just gorgeous - a ladies' man. Had three waitresses smitten when out to lunch today - laughing so much now. Still feeding all night. Wakes up soaking in pee as he drinks so much his nappy leaks in the night. He's not bothered though (typical bloke!)

Hi Everyone! Will try and write a decent message with my eyes propped open with matchsticks... [tired icon] ds2 was awake and raring to go at 5.30am....

ds2 is beautiful - I am not biased.. honestly! Grin the smiles and giggles are gorgeous... the belly laughs heart-melting!

Do what you think is right re:jabs highlander! It isn't the HV decision to make.. we gave first jabs at the recommended age to both but ds1 didn't have MMR till he was 2 1/2yrs and we will delay ds2 MMR as well - just made me feel happier about it knowing their immune systems are a bit more developed... though would still have prefered single jabs in some ways....

lets see if we can get this thread going!!!!! Grin

crikey, DS is 4 months on Monday - where did my tiny baby go?! We finally caved in and bought a bigger car seat which has made journeys more jolly all round. I feel pretty bad that I've trying to squeeze DS in the infant seat for the past month - his shoulders ewere a bit squashed.

everything OK, he's sleeping most of the night, waking for one feed at 3am. I'm still going to bed feeling a bit sick that he may at any moment decide to be up all night. I was reading some of Aloha's nighttime horror stories and I felt a bit wobbly at the mere thought of having to get up that much.
Still feel knackered though as he's a bit demanding of me during the day. Seems to behitting all those milestones - trying to pull himself up, roll over. He's started to reach out and try to grab things as well which is proving to be a bit hazardous! His most cute thing is babbling to himself in front of a mirror which has us in stitches!
Got the first round of vaccinations next week which I'm not looking forward to, but I guess I've put it off long enough.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!

Ds is 4 months old today! To echo Highlander.... where did my tiny baby go??!

Highlander - we have a mix of one feed a night to 3-4 feeds a night! He is so variable that I never know what sort of night it will be!

Ds is trying to pull himself up and hates lying down! Also likes to "stand" on your lap quite a bit. A great chuckler - real belly laughs and can spend ages chatting to his frog - gets frustrated when it doesn't answer back! The 'cute' thing of the moment is him constantly sticking his tongue out the side of his mouth or the beautiful smiles when I feed him!

Hope everyone is well and had a lovely christmas!

Becca

Can I join in. My wee small pink baby was born in September making our house even more pink than it was before, 3 girls and loving every minute of it! I'm the one who said 7 years ago that no child of mine was going to wear pink, now I eat my words! Life is hectic and fun and at times I am very tired, but I smile!

Welcome Pinkytrio!! Wow three girls! Yep... I can see the house would be pink!!

I have 2 boys plus Dh... DH and Ds1 are gadget/electronic/car-mad.. (ds2 is too small at the mo but I am sure he will be the same...!) A very male-orientated house BUT I LOVE IT!!!!

We are a quiet thread but we do have our moments!!

We've got the dribbles, the handchewing and I can see white bumps waiting to come..... so not far off teething I guess! Actually he was born with 2 teeth!! (where the molars would be but these have been re-surrounded by the gum.. poor thing.. has to go through the teething of molars after all..)

Wow Podmog - your ds is doing well trying to roll over! ds hasn't seemed to take note that he can do that.. but that said, ds1 rolled over once and didn't do it again till he started crawling!!

has anyone else had the horrible bug that we've all had - coughing, snotty noses, throwing up (that bit for the kids anyway).

Baby Eve doing well I think for a prem baby - we were warned she might be behind. She's hand chewing too and dribbling for England. She nearly has control of her head and neck too.

What is everyone doing about stating on solids and when are you starting, I ask because with my older children was told to start at four months but this time am told start at six?

Happy new year btw

Allyco · 03/01/2005 10:42

oh dear been reading previous posts. Everyone else's baby is bigger than mine and can do more! Bugger

Did anyone else have a prem baby?

Report
mumto2boys · 03/01/2005 16:48

Allyco - if your dd was prem then whatever she is doing is just great! Not that we should compare babies anyway !! How prem was she? ds2 was born at 39 weeks which obviously isn't prem but when I compare his development to ds1 who was born at 42 weeks - there was a huge difference for the first 3-4 weeks and now suddenly ds2 has 'caught' up.

Ds is so teething today - red cheeks and real grumbling

I don't know about weaning tbh, ds1 was weaned at 10 1/2 weeks (yes it sticks in my mind 'that' clearly!); ds2 doesn't seem to need extra foods just yet so I am playing it by ear and will start when he is ready rather than go by the recommendations I think.

mumto - she was 33 weeks. Was at childminder today signing contract, so am now in a fluster about going back to work!!
I know we shouldn't compare and I always say I won't, and then I do...

DS had his vaccinations this afternoon and was screaming in pain at 6pm. Eventually settled with exhaustion/paracetamol at 6:45pm. I feel physically sick that he went through this, and that was only 2 jabs - I declined the Hepatitis B (in babies, FFS...).

I hope he's going to be OK. he's not getting any more until he can talk and tell me where it hurts.

I think I might get the jabs myself and see if he can get some protection through my milk.

It's just awful.

How is he now, Highlander? Sorry to hear he had a bad reaction. DS was so unsmiley for two days after his second lot. Do you know how protected they'd be without completing the course? Not sue I want ds to have any more either. Big hugs

hi Dinny. God it's awful. He was fine yesterday but woke screaming at 4am this morning and has barely slept all day. Twice he just conked out in my arms only to wake screaming again after a few minutes. He wasn't feeding this morning but took huge feeds this afternoon and eventually went down at his usual time (after a few attempts). Hopefully that's the end of it.

Even DH ( a medic who scoffs at the no vaccines mums) has agreed no more.

dinny · 08/01/2005 19:57

Poor boy. Think I may postpone the last vaccination indefinitely. Just a feeling I have. Your gut feeling was not to have them, wasn't it? Think I remember you postponed them for a while....
