The nurse told me to give her calpol as soon as we got home and then twice again after 4-6 hours, to keep her temperature down. She's sleeping soundly now, hope she isn't too sad when she wakes up 😣

bubblybrit · 16/04/2019 13:23

@detachablehoof. That’s exactly what we did. Seemed to do the trick. She was a little grumpy for 24-48 hours so needed lots of cuddles. How your little one recovers quickly x

Since2016 · 16/04/2019 14:14

Having shit sleep here too. Hoping it’s just s phase!

Had DD weighed today - 13.4lb. So she’s gone from 50th to 90th centile! Little podge. Good thing it’s Easter so I can continue eating everything 😂

However I did get poo on my top while trying to manage a poo nappy change 😑

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/04/2019 16:06

Thanks both for the advice/tips. DS2 sounds similar to Emma with the little top up of 2-3oz. And yes lanalawr I think I'll try that, definitely the sleeping bag thing in between.

Aw no detachablehoof. Agree jabs are horrible. Ours are next Tuesday Sad

detachablehoof · 16/04/2019 17:24

Re feeds. My little girl is 8.5 wks and FF. She normally has 5 bottles a day. I make up 5oz bottles but she usually has more like 4oz, never finishes them. Doesn't seem like much compared to everyone else 🤔 and she has dropped from just below 91st percentile (at 2 wks) to just above 50th percentile (at 8 wks). She certainly seems healthy and happy so I haven't been worrying.... but should I?

bubblybrit · 16/04/2019 20:21

@detachablehoof. I wouldn’t worry as Anna is very similar. Usually takes 5-6 bottles per day. All made up to 5oz but doesn’t always finish them. She has been steadily putting on weight. Was 6lbs 14oz at birth, dropped to 6lb 5oz in the first week and was 9lb 2oz at her eight week weigh in. No concerns from HV or GP.

detachablehoof · 16/04/2019 21:40

@bubblybrit that's good to know. My gut instinct is that I don't need to worry as she's growing fine etc. Just can't help being anxious about something, it seems 🙄

Poor little lady has been so sad this evening. Only had 2oz bottles. And slept for 90 mins which she would never normally do. No obvious side effects from the jabs but something is obviously hurting as she's doing this horrid sad cry which I've never heard before 😔 Hoping she'll still sleep tonight and be her normal self tomorrow!

bubblybrit · 16/04/2019 22:09

@detachablehoof. I know the feeling as I’m constantly anxious/worried that I’m doing something wrong! It took baby A a day or two to return to normal after her jabs. She had a meltdown the day after her jab and the only thing that settled her was skin to skin. Completely back to normal now though x

babyp160 · 17/04/2019 04:01

@detachablehoof the actual injection made ours cry a cry I'd never heard before and now he has discovered that cry he seems to use it (9 days on) he is fine but when he cries he really goes for it now 🙈

sunday38 · 17/04/2019 05:05

I'm in the shit sleepers club at the moment too. We've got a reflux flare up and had jabs this week so he's clingy and even when I managed to put him down he's keeping me awake by retching and grunting. Been awake 2.5 hours so far and I have to be out of the house by 9 today Sad

Yakadee · 17/04/2019 06:58

I think I can join the club too. Been awake since 3:30, not because of baby but because of my 3yo! Who has a nightmare about a bike anyway? 🤷‍♀️

powkin · 17/04/2019 08:57

Can I get some advice on what 10 week old babies should be wearing outside now it’s set to be 20 degrees? I was going to take her out in a wrap and was told that’s one more layer, so I have no idea. I don’t feel the cold at all so telling me what I’m wearing plus a layer isn’t always helpful as I’d be in a vest and shorts from about 14 degrees!

I was thinking just a long sleeved vest and leggings?

sunday38 · 17/04/2019 11:04

Long sleeve vest and leggings sounds fine to me. Can always add a cardi if it gets chilly and yes the sling acts as a layer anyway. I'm not one for bundling children up in lots of layers though so l might be in the minority.

lanalawr · 17/04/2019 12:00

That sounds fine to me too. If you're unsure you could always stick a cardi or blanket in the bag to add a layer if it gets chilly. Depending on your wrap, it can count as more than one layer (look at how many times the fabric passes over baby). They'll also have your body heat too.

detachablehoof · 18/04/2019 08:47

Hmm after several weeks of good nights, we had a terrible night last night. I feel like a zombie 😭 reeeeeally hope it's a one off - can't face many more of those

powkin · 18/04/2019 09:04

I had her in two layers and a thin sling yesterday and I felt that was too much as I was really hot. Today I’ve got her in one layer but a thicker sling that is easy to open up to cool her. She has her injections today and was really grouchy this morning screaming the place down (pre injections!) so have put it in the sling for a proper sleep to try and give her as much rest as possible. They were meant to be last week and that was already a week late so now she’s 10 weeks she’ll be a lot more aware of what’s going on :( poor dote.

Since2016 · 18/04/2019 12:03

What are people doing re naps? DD1 was (is) such a bad sleeper we’ve been pretty strict from the get go this time. DD2 now goes down awake, sleeping bag, dark room, white noise and sleeps for between 1 hour - 2 hours with little to no fuss at all. But this obv means leaving her on her own. I’m checking frequently and have a monitor coming but obviously concerned about sids. Getting her to fall asleep on her own from the get go is a total game changer for me and she just won’t settle downstairs with all the noise, and using a sling for every nap isn’t practical / a good idea for us.

I suppose I just want some reassurance this is ok really! It’s revalationary to have a child not requiring rocking / holding to sleep!!

Since2016 · 18/04/2019 12:04

We’re in a fairly strict 1 hour ish awake time, 1-2 hour nap cycle now too which is working v well.

At night she settles ish downstairs around 9 and then I take her upstairs with us for bed. Last night she slept 9-3, 3-5, 5-7

Celebelly · 18/04/2019 12:28

Our earlier bed time seems to be working well. She was asleep by 8 last night in her crib, she woke at 3 and had some milk, back to sleep till 7, a bit more milk, then we both dozed till half 9! It does mean I'm in bed at 8 too but I just watch Netflix and it's actually quite nice having a couple of hours to myself where I don't feel I have to do house stuff!

Celebelly · 18/04/2019 12:33

As for naps, she's crap at napping but I've been v lax about it because she sleeps so well overnight. Today I'm trying to be more strict though so every time she shows tiredness cues or has been awake for a while I whisk her upstairs to nursery as it's dark in there (blackout blinds). I've ordered some blackout blinds for our room though so she can go down in there for naps as there's a TV in there for me 😂

We have a video monitor and Owlet so I'm fairly relaxed about the SIDs thing just for napping. I keep a window open so it's nice and cool with a breeze and check in on her frequently. She sleeps better when she's alone during day anyway as it takes her a while to sleep deep enough not to be startled awake.

OP posts:
Celebelly · 18/04/2019 12:35

Oh part of the reason our napping schedule has been crap is because we are pretty much out at something every day so often are out of the house between 10 and about 3 or 4, so she'll nap in car seat and pram when out or when driving between classes/meeting friends. It's on the occasional day where we are mostly at home I notice that she doesn't nap very much, like today 😬

OP posts:
Since2016 · 18/04/2019 12:47

Yeah - she generally sleeps in the sling when we’re out and about, it’s just with a busy 3 YO and a small house it’s impossible otherwise. Although like her sister , she’s not a huge car fan. Which is fine by me as I don’t love driving(especially not in our new car which feels like a bloody bus)

Since2016 · 18/04/2019 12:48

I’m just still hyper aware that I’d rather get her into a decent routine / habit of self settling before the horror of the sleep regression - that nearly broke me with DD1!

Celebelly · 18/04/2019 12:53

Yes not looking forward to the fabled sleep regression! My LO has slept great since birth and I've basically had zero sleep deprivation so I've been v spoiled Blush

I still can't park the big family car we bought to fit in baby and dog BlushBlush
