@bubblybrit We were really anti dummy with our first. But she ended up with one in NICU. We agreed to it with very good reasons, certainly helped her settle in difficult circumstances (she thought she was starving as we had to stop milk feeds
). She was back on milk feeds a few days later and then exclusively breast fed once tube feeding was no longer required. We said bye bye to nighttime dummy last week with no drama or tears. Our breast fed February baby has a dummy already! We realised that it provides comfort, and is much easier to wean off than sucking a thumb!
We were clear that dummy was only for bedtime and in the car, so not all the time. Though initially it was used during the witching hour as well.
