Flame is Harry Potter good?

FlameDelacour · 13/07/2007 14:30

I enjoyed it - a few with the book changes, but I think its the one I have enjoyed most... possibly because I left a really long gap between the book reading and film iyswim, so I could just enjoy it as a film.

Thanks for the welcome ladies - been around for a while but never read the Feb 06 board.... DD was born after a 40 hour induced labour which ended in a c-section, good job as she was 10lb..... needed a blood transfusion (me, not DD!) as the placenta was on the big side and lost a bit of blood. Very few memories of the birth tbh!
All great now - don't have much idea of where she should be re: development - keep trying new things and take a lot of clues from baby-pals. I need a book saying "Now she's 17 months, introduce her to XYZ and start feeding her ABC" - do you know what I mean?!
She's fab kid though... great sleeper other than during the day (max 30 mins). She's in nursery 2 days per week...
PS any ideas on how to get them to eat more fruit? DD was great until about 3 months ago and she now flatly refuses anything other than bananas!

Chloe55 · 13/07/2007 17:01

My ds loves grapes and raisins, if she won't eat full fruit have you tried giving it her as a puree after her main meal? Or I guess even adding a puree to some water and letting her drink it. My SIL gives her los fresh orange juice but I find that gives ds the squits.

Phoenix · 13/07/2007 17:28

I should be ok then Flame, i read the books while i was pregnant and i've forgot most of it.

I've been into Mothercare today and picked up details of a competition for a baby to be on the front cover of the new Mothercare catalogue if anyone's interested check out the details

I've bought ds a potty, toilet seat and step thingy today from Mothercare

Didn't bother with soft play today we went shopping instead and me and dh are off to the cinema tonight

Lewis eats loads of fruit, especially blueberries and grapes, and sometimes he has it as a meal if he won't eat anything else

2boysmacca · 13/07/2007 17:30

We have a smoothie in the morning but mostly because I introduced it a couple of months ago for ds1. Yoghurt raisins are a hit here too but only other fruit ds2 will eat is bananas. Ds used to eat everything, oranges, grapes, bananas, peaches, olives, you name it. He's very fussy now though hence the introduction of a smoothie. Veg are a problem too. Ds2 used to eat all veg but now if it's green it gets thrown out!!!!

Another meal thrown in the bin here for ds1. That's 3 consecutive evening meals.

It's very muggy here.

CHLOE - I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO PULL OUT OF THE PISS UP Sorry about the caps but I'm leaving them as it is worth shouting

No HP for me - I can't get into the books and the first film bored me. DD1 loves them though.

potty. Are you expecting him to use it, or just preparing yourself for later?(next year for me before I even consider it, probably the year after.)

The dds only got fruit for lunch until they were about 4, but have always liked and eaten almost all fruit.

ds likes a fair variety, too, but it seems to depend on mood. Some days he will eat two whole pears, then other days he won't eat a bite. He seems to prefer whole fruit, or any fruit if it is in a pie.
I'd just say keep on offering it in as many different forms as you can.

Jas - I'm hoping i can get him used to sitting on it and maybe start using it. I know i'm a first time mum and don't have a clue but i can try I wanted the step thing so he can stand on it to wash his hands, brush his teeth etc. so just thought i'd get the other 2 while i was there

Phoenix · 13/07/2007 17:49

Oh yes forgot about that, chloe you can't pull out. I'll drive and don't worry about petrol money i'll be filling it up anyway.

Jas · 13/07/2007 17:52

I do have a potty, and ds occasionally sits on it when the bath is running (still in nappy), but I will be leaving him very late as the dds were a nightmare, and girls are supposed to be easier than boys.

See Chloe, practically a free weekend

2boysmacca · 13/07/2007 18:48

You're right. Boys are a nightmare to train! I wish you luck Pg. Ds was 2.5 when we staretd and it took about 3 months.

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/07/2007 18:52

Yes Chloe - you absolutely cannot pull out of that weekend, or I'll send the heavies round .

Fruit wise dd will only eat fresh lychees or grapes (she's back to refusing bananas after last weekend's shock banana-fest), but she'll eat other dried fruits.

I definitely don't want a book to tell me what to feed her! It would defeat the whole point of blw! She has what I have and that's that.

at having a great sleeper auntyspan. Rub my nose in it and tell me what times she goes to bed and gets up?

2boysmacca · 13/07/2007 18:53

Oh anyone that intends to buy a toilet seat that you fix into the loo, with a built in kiddy one, don't bother if you have a boy. They have to have mighty fine dangly bits for them to dangle whilst their legs are so spread apart to give them the balance to stay on. I was fired on many a time and ended up taking the dam thing off!!!! If that's what you have bought pg, take it back if you've not already attached it

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 13/07/2007 18:56

I've just booked an underwater photoshoot for BabyDragon plus SmallDragons I am pathetically excited (had them done for both SmallDragons) and I have no one to tell

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 13/07/2007 18:57

DSs weren't hard to potty train. I think I waited til they were (does quick calculation) 2y9m and they were both done in a fortnight. I had tries 3 months earlier and they clearly weren't ready (and I was in no hurry!)

Jas · 13/07/2007 19:04

I've seen those pics (did you put some on your montage soupy?) and they are really lovely

I tried both dds at 2.9 and swiftly gave up. Tried again at 3 and it still took weeks/months.

Toilet seat things were useless for girls, too. Mine clicked into the regular toilet seat. Too much hassle to keep putting on and off, and they still managed to pee over the front of it.

No instruction book wanted here either, but I fall into the lazy parent catagory. I call it fostering independance DS is trying to ride a scooter now, but just stands on it and waits for someone to push him. He also tries to get on small bikes. Very cute and not something the girls ever did this young.

Phoenix · 13/07/2007 19:04

It's this one macca and i got the matching potty and stool . I remember my little brother having a similar seat when he was little and he used it ok. Its only a fiver so not the end of the world if its crap

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 13/07/2007 19:06

They were on my montage, yes I took them off because of copyright. They've fab though. Even DSs swimming instructor was jealous...

Jas · 13/07/2007 19:10

I remember them and they are lovely

Is this what macca is thinking?

Cantsleep - sorry.... my friends hate me for this too - DD slept through from 11pm - 6.30am from about 9 weeks..... she now goes down at 7.30pm and usually sleeps until I wake her. This morning it was 8.15am - something she wakes up earlier but chunters to herself....
On the down side, as I said, she can't sleep during the day. By the time 7.30pm comes along she's knackered and grumpy.....

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 13/07/2007 20:06

Oh, you lot don't count, you're only a figment of my imagination

Anyone can book these shoots BTW, provided your baby has done the underwater swimming lessons that are so popular (although they're only in London and Sussex from what I can see) Waterbaby
