well

nuttygirl · 27/06/2007 17:47

Hmm...doc said she's to only take it for 7 days.

oooggs · 27/06/2007 18:11

nutty for babygroup don't you just take a bottle with the right amount of water in it and one of those dispensers with measured out formula in?

In fact that is how I do all my bottles - nothing in the fridge and nothing heated up all at room temp. As if I have time to heat things?

I make up 12 bottles of boiled water per 24hrs (normally only use 10 but you never know) and 4 dispensers (with 3 compartments) of measured out formula milk.

I have cartons in for an emergency but that is it at 49p per 8oz

leakyR · 27/06/2007 18:17

Afternoon!

Hope you're all well today. Have had a quick scan of thread so excuse me if I miss anyone out.

Runny -sorry to hear about fil, sounds like an awful worrying time for dh and mil.

KHIN - well done for still bf, must be so hard with twins

had other stuff to say but G has woken and is grizzling.

Later!

Pinions · 27/06/2007 18:19

And pesha wacko jacko pizza???

Pesha · 27/06/2007 18:49

Sleep was ok bit on and off but better than none! They were only gone 2.5 hours so managed with just giving D the 2oz EBM I had and didnt give hiom any ofthe formula I'd made up which I'm glad about. Never minded dd and ds1 having formula and nothing against it, not sure why I'm so against him having any - think it's just cos he's my last I wanna do it all myself this time.

Potty training boys - was also going to suggest ping pong ball although never tried it with ds1 as he would have probably picked it up and played with it! I found one of these potties too small for ds and his willy would poke out the front so got one of these instead and it was great, much better fit, more comfortable for him and actually much easier to empty and clean. He took ages though before he would poo anywhere except in his nappy so for a long time he was dry but would have nappy back on for poos, we talked to hv and decided it was best just to go with what he was happy with and not pressure him and he got there soon enough. Apparently boys quite often have 'poo issues'!

KHIN - lovely to see you back

And that's all i remember!

Pesha · 27/06/2007 18:55

Pinions - yes! Sis lived in headingly (sp) and local pizza place did a wacko jacko pizza with loads of lovely toppings including cashew nuts [drool emopticon] was gorgeous!!! This was ooh 10 years ago mind (), not sure they'd call it that now!

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 19:01

Only quick as DH says dinner is ready (which means it is cooked, but not actually on plates so if I went down now I'd be hanging around for aaaages, waiting for him to plate it up!! )

Bloody men!

Nutty - @ your parents -

oooggs · 27/06/2007 19:25

Mammyjo is fine, just busy and is sorting out Ffions bedtime.

DH at work, all 3 asleep, bottle of wine anyone??????

liath · 27/06/2007 19:56

Lordy, but men are weak !
Dh has been sleeping in the spare room so getting full nights of sleep while I'm feeding ds 2 or 3 times most nights. Last night was particularly bad.

DH came back from work at 4.30pm and has now passed out on the sofa after complaining that he is totally exhausted. I don't feel too bad at all!

Poor man!

BTW The Housecoat went into recycling today but I have photographic evidence - just need to dwonload the pic from my camera.

nuttygirl · 27/06/2007 20:18

oooogs - having read the research someone linked to, it seems the advice is to make the bottles with water above 70 degrees c. So what we do is sterilise all the bottles in a morning, make up a flask of boiled water and make them as we go along (i.e. pour water out of flask, add powder and cool in a jug of cold water). I'm thinking of trying it the way you suggested tho, would be easier in many ways! She seems to like the ready made stuff tho & takes it better (so less at the baby group!!!)

WestCountryLass · 27/06/2007 20:25

Not sure if it has been mentioned but for those of you buying formula, have any of you bought it from your Health Centre as it is usually cheaper.

nuttygirl · 27/06/2007 20:43

I'm not sure my health centre stock my formula. Will have a look next time tho.

All you cloth nappy users, how clothy are you??? take the test here (non-cloth users can take it too!!!)

I'm 74% (and that means I'm an addict )

zazas · 27/06/2007 20:48

72% so a cloth addict - must be as did this test but passed on the tart one

Bugmum · 27/06/2007 20:52

62%
Nutty - how\do you get on with the\stuffables? I don't like them. Sorry, one-handed typing

liath · 27/06/2007 20:58

58% - so only Cloth Keen - am surprised!

Have done better with ds so far - cloth from week one and overnight. His poos are so explosive that only cloth can hold them in !

BTW Bugmum, am glad your ds is coping better with baby crying. I feel the same as you about dd, she's still not far from babyhood herself. She's so sweet with ds, it's lovely to see .

Bugmum · 27/06/2007 21:07

I was hopeless with DS1 and cloth - full of good intentions, but I didn't know about shaped nappies and so on. Now I have both of them in cloth, with Nature Babies disps for those times when it is just more convenient (probably one each a day), and I WISH I'd put DS1 in cloth earlier. Soooo cute The only thing is, I am furious about how much Cut for Cloth clothes are, and am doing my best to improvise with jersey material and bigger sizes etc, rather than paying out or having to search for them secondhand.

liath - Yes, it's better - not perfect by any means, but better. It really was intolerable for the first two or three weeks!

Damn, must dash
xx

JoMa · 27/06/2007 21:08

hi all
i'm here but haven't caught up yet

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 21:10

Hey hon!!

leakyR · 27/06/2007 21:12

60% clothy which apparently means I'm addicted.

Going to have an early night. I was up until the early hours on Monday with upset tummy. On top of feeding 3 times a night it means I still haven't caught up.

Bought swimsuit today as starting to go swimming with some of the mums and babies from baby group next week. Got one with a special pannel to hold in my baby belly. i might be the same dress size as this time last year but I'm certainly not the same shape IYSWIM.

G went down to sleep 10 mins ago he seemed shattered so hopefully it'll be 12 or 1 before he wakes again.

Meant to ask if any of you go to Rhythm Time with LOs or went with older DCs. Would you recommend it?

oooggs · 27/06/2007 21:16

I have never heard of Health Centres selling formula - will investigate.

Is it ever on special in the supermarkets/boots/mothercare???????

JoMa · 27/06/2007 21:17

what on earth are you on about leaky, 60% clothy??????????????

i'm guessing i'll understand when i've finished reading

and hello there, Doidy mistress

Emmymummy · 27/06/2007 21:18

Evening all. Can't catch up I'm afraid, but hope all is well with everyone.

S has her jabs tomorrow too - seems like lots of them going on tomorrow. I'm sure she'll be fine and hopefully they'll make her sleeeeep! Need her to sleep as we'll be packing/ironing/generally panicing tomorrow as we're going to Centre Parcs on Friday for the w/e.

S has been really sicky & screamy recently. Am now wondering if she has reflux too. She now seems to vomit up an entire feed of breast milk on a frequent basis, but will keep the formula down. Went to Drs yesterday and was prescribed Enfamil formula (which is thickened so stays down better). Am a bit though, as if she has this she is obviously not having my milk. Am therefore going to ask tomorrow if there's something we can add to EBM which will do the same job. Ho hum, we'll see.

Pinions - Em is now on the Omega 3 - she loves it! Got her the stuff in a bottle and told her it was brain medicine. It's very sickly sweet orange flavour and she actually asks for the stuff. So I will report back if it makes any difference.

CD - will post cheque to you tomorrow - thanks for organising the cups

oooggs · 27/06/2007 21:19

less than 20% !!!!!!!

I couldn't get the tart one to work - bet I score higher in that one

oooggs · 27/06/2007 21:21

Ange your emails are great!!!!!
