Happy Birthday Sophie xx

Warning - bit of an HV rant...

I popped into the clinic for the breastfeeding group yesterday as I wanted to ask about the rash that DS has under his chin and up his arm (prob just dribble, but DH wanted me to check it out). Anyhoo, the group is usually run by the (lovely) community nursery nurse, but she was off, so it was my HV (she's the one who was 'worried' about me). So first she puts me on edge by doing that head-on-one-side-I'm-here-if-you-want-to-talk face. Bah! Then we chat about the rash, fine. Then she pokes DS on his gorgeous chubby arm and says 'and of course, he'll start to lose this now he's moving around', as if his chubbiness is a bad thing, she went on about it at his 9 month check as well. I thought that babies were supposed to be chubby! Seems you can't win, as some on here have been hassled as their babies are 'underweight'. And she wonders why I never come to clinic.

Oh well, better stop giving DS those delicious sugar and lard sandwiches I suppose...

Happy Birthday darling Sophie!

Wow, wow!

I hope the Humphrey family have a really special day

I have goosebumps and feel all emotional

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/06/2007 09:30

Maewest, ignore ignore ignore. What a sily cow. Toby is a total chubster too and I wouldn't have it any other way. God, how ridiculous that even HVs are contributing to the size obsessed society we live in........

Beadmum · 27/06/2007 09:34

Happy Birthday to Sophie!!

Cant believe all our lo's are turning 1 already.

Havent been on for ages again so has taken a few days to catch up

Charlotte is crawling really well now and pulling herself up all the time, she is now able to sit back down herself

My mum is visiting tomorrow until saturday so looking forward to it, shopping and lunching for couple of days

Dh's parents havent even called us for 2 and half weeks now, not even to ask how charlotte is, dh is upset with them and said he isnt going to call them and wait and see if they will contact us before charlottes birthday pretty bad as they live in same town, only a 5 min drive away.

Have a lovely day everyone, hope the weather is ok where you all are xx

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/06/2007 09:36

oooh, just been told a friend has free tickets to Legoland so we're off there today! Hope it doesn't piss down........

HumphreysCorner · 27/06/2007 09:37

Hi ladies, have done my usual disappearing act and haven't been on for ages just the usual chaos that is my life at the mo.... oh, and a lovely week in Menorca thrown in (Must post some pics).

Just wanted to say a very special happy birthday to Sophie

Can't agree enough with all that you've been saying about the DH/DPs - mine even had the cheek to say mid holiday that he was looking forward to going back to work for a break!!

By the way has the catch up (Warwick Castle?) been and gone?....she says way out of touch.

Had DS nursery sports day yesterday ....so cute and the rain even held off! Whats happened to our summer? This time last year it was all swollen ankles and sweatiness due to excessive heat (and excessive bellies).

Must go as I can hear the kids going mad downstairs!! byeee

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIE!

And Happy Birthday Evie too

Will miss you Lysette, have a great time.

KZ sympathies with the non-sleep last night. We get that some nights too. Hope you get some tonight (sleep, I mean!). Well done to Roshi, standing!

Kayley's not standing alone, but she grabs my hands and makes me take her walking, for hours and hours... The sooner she can go it alone, the better.

HC LOL at your boat (and more so at everyone's confusion!!) I must admit, I just laughed when I read it, then I saw the news later and thought, Hmmm, maybe she was serious!! Really hope Sophie is better real soon.

DH is also a PITA! Trouble is, it's his routine, as he's the SAHD, but when I'm there I KNOW how to look after them without him, but he seems to think I need to be told everything... sigh...

Visited the rheumatology yesterday, and my new wonder drugs seem to be doing the job, as all my blood tests were down to normal levels again. Horray!! Just have to keep jabbing...
Did have a nice day off for it as well.

Hi to everyone else

Annie

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIE!!! Big hug from Impy and Baby Ryan xxx Hope you feel better soon too...

Have great hols Lysette

Know what you mean, Castille/French - it's been an unusually cool summer here rather than the oven we had last year - typical! What time does Thomas go to bed? Four hours is a huge nap! Ry has started taking big naps just in the afternoon but he still goes to bed at 7 without a problem.

Junior sounds such a sweetie Pretty! Can't join you on the shopping addiction - too poor! Went down to 20 euros in my account yesterday - cripes! I feel weird asking for DP for money for anything other than essentials....

Grrr at the HV, Mae - ignore her! Are you keeping on b-feeding (or do I remember rightly that you gave up recently). I intended stopping at a year but now it's close I might have to keep going for a bit longer.... it makes sense to keep going for the holiday in August - camping's tricky enough without worrying about keeping milk fresh!

{{{{{hugs}}}}} Beadmum - can't believe your in-laws would be so mean. Enjoy your time with your mum.

Sorry about the sleep deprivation KZ, [passes the match sticks and cup of coffee]

Annie - hurrah about the drugs working!!! Made up for you. Long may it continue.

Well lots of packages keep arriving for little Mr Spoiled! DP's going to be away in London next week, so he's going to miss his first born's first birthday on Thurs! He'll be there for the picnic party on Saturday at least....

Have a great Wednesday all. Impy xxx

MaeWest · 27/06/2007 14:50

I'm still b-feeding Impy, like you I had intended to do it for a year (after I got through the hellish early weeks and wondered how other women ever managed it!) but will prob carry on for a bit longer. It tends to be first/last thing and then before his 2 naps, plus the odd feed in the night . But things seem to be improving on the sleep front [cautious], with only one or 2 feeds most nights (he even slept all the way through at the weekend) usually with a 5/6 hr block of uninterrupted sleep thrown in there somewhere. Just a couple of months ago he seemed to be still feeding loads, and not that interested in solid food, I seriously wanted to jack it in then, but am glad I didn't now.

HumphreysCorner · 27/06/2007 15:59

Lordy-DH's Grandma died suddenly this morning. Bit hard now celebrating the birth of a baby and Sophie's 1st B'Day.

Back later when I know more details.

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 27/06/2007 16:05

So Sorry HC

ImpyChica · 27/06/2007 16:22

So sorry HC, how sad.

Mae - have you tried sending DH in with a cup of warmed milk in the night? It's worked for us and Ry hardly ever wakes in the middle of the night and we're on a strict morning and evening feed now....

Ceebee74 · 27/06/2007 19:19

HC - so sorry about DH's grandma - what sad news today

We still don't know what DH's Grandma died of but MIL doesn't want a postmortem. The police came and interviewed PIL which I suppose is normal under these circumstances. MIL called an ambulance this morning early on as her mum was all confused and not looking too good. The Emergency Services didn't want to send an ambulance, instead they wanted to send a Carer round to talk to her. MIL insisted and after checking her over the ambulance people said they weren't allowed to take her in as she wasn't an emergency. Reluctantly they admitted her-PIL got dressed and went to the hospital only to find she had already passed away.

Poor Sophie has a terrible chest and is struggling to breathe. 15 mins ago I fetched her downstairs as she was crying and barking while breathing and she suddenly sicked all over me, herself and the sofa. Got in the bath with her and she smiled in the end so have propped her mattress up and am hoping she will be OK.

FIL has booked a few days for us at a Caravan Site in Oxford in July so if DH can get time off and I can book the cat into the cattery we will go.

Sorry to ramble but just needed to get things out.

Thank you for listening.

Oh HC - such sad news on what should be a really happy day. Happy Birthday to Sophie in any case and I really hope she gets better soon. Try to enjoy yourselves - I'm sure that's what your DH's gran would have wanted.
