In honour of Sophie's impending birthday this week, I thought I would start a new thread....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jacobandlysette · 25/06/2007 15:38

hi everyone

i too could have joined in with the rants - it just got worse and worse over the weekend - honestly i just cannot do a thing right sometimes - he had the cheek to tell me that he had been working all weekend moving the boxes - WTF did he think i had been doing while he was doing that? letting jacob fend for himself while sitting on by arse filing my nails??>??

AND he let jacob fall headfirst off the sofa while he was tidying up - WHY????? i keep telling him not to during the day but he insisted on doing it while leaving jacob sitting on sofa, which would have struck me as a pretty silly thing to do but, no, DH is always rigt, being the saint that he is.

anyway, rant over - as you say bloss it's easier when it's just you and the little ones - certainly is here. jacob is at least now cruising well, but that leads to lots of bumps when he topples over. he's alwo learnt now to sit himself down properly so that's a big step forward!

he doesnt really say very much, ecxept has learnt tpo squeal very very very loudly, at the top of his voice

we go on holiday in 2 days, and i can't wait - this rain is terrible! poor you hc being flooded!

ImpyChica · 25/06/2007 19:27

Hi everyone.

Only skimmed the end of the last thread - so sorry if I've missed anything major.

Just had a lovely weekend - friends were over to visit with their little boy. He's two and a half and is so good! He and Ry played really well together and he went to sleep on our bed at night so the adults could have dinner and booze!

Jeez Bloss, your DH is so mean to you when he's hungover. He can't handle his drink, that's for sure. You poor thing {{{{{hugs}}}}} I really think you should book a spa day or something with a friend and just leave DH with the boys.

Glad you got your af Kbaby - phew! Glad you had fun on holiday, even if you need another one to recover ;-)

Tee hee KZ! Have never made Glastonbury - always wanted to but it never quite happened. Though the whole being-up-to-neck in mud and the like wasn't the main attraction!

HC - just spoken to my olds and they've been having massive flooding up near Lincoln too - sounds crazy! Having a boat is pretty cool though! Just ignore DH if he has a go about the boiler - it needs to be done by a professional or it could be v dangerous. You did the right thing.

Sorry lots of you have been having problems with your blokes. I have to say that it always seems to coincide with bad weather....! I remember last time there were big rain storms everyone was having barnies. I don't mean to trivialise it but things will get better soon, I'm sure.

Having my own mini-MN-meet-up on Thur!! V exciting. With a woman who lives just outside Madrid and is coming especially to meet me with her six-month old. Going to be weird losing the MN cloak and revealing myself... (that sounds rude, doesn't it.... hmmmm)

Hugs to each and everyone of you. Try and keep dry. Impy xxx

TheGoddessBlossom · 25/06/2007 19:48

er.... am I the only total knob here who isn't sure if HC was joking about the row boat???

HumphreysCorner · 25/06/2007 20:14

Rowing boat-as if! (Could do with one though).

KZ - me and my brother used to spend hours on my dad's allotment at the weekends, I'm sure my mum was glad of the break. He worked long hours and was often away, but spent lots of time playing with us when he was there, v happy memories I so want DS to have that with his dad.

Which reminds me, DH was playing with him at the weekend - DS's favourite toy is currently the big box that his car seat came in. DH cut a little window in it for him to peep out of (cute!). DS just crawls in and out of it giggling. He's also discovered clapping and does it constantly.

TheGoddessBlossom · 25/06/2007 21:22

KZ - sorry I had set the scene there. I am with you 100%. DH's current trick - he is rained off from work quite alot at the moment - so I might say to him, "right, that's the boys up from their sleep, can you just hang out here for 10 minutes and watch Toby/Harry while I gather our stuff and take them out to our play date/the park/wherever I am taking them" cue huffing and puffing "I'm not even supposed to BE here!!! How would you manage if i was at work??" etc. I mean WTF?? Well I would manage just fine but you ARE here aren't you? And it's TEN MINUTES!!!

Right that's it I promise. No more moaning. For at least 24 hours...

Have had a great day with the boys. Toby is becoming very cheeky, and giggles and giggles when you blow raspberries into his neck.......

lol at HC's rowing boat

Dh has got better as hey've got older (bigger ones are 6 and days away from being8)but still lots of room for improvement!

JeanieG · 26/06/2007 01:09

Bloss- just wanted to say, things are pretty much the same in this house too. So..... I have drawn up a cleaning/jobs schedule and we have started it today.
DS has cleaned the toilet, it wasn't very good though as it took me 25 mins to explain why he HAD to clean the toilet and he still wasn't sure that it was really done!!! So I think he eventually just waved the cloth in the direction of the toilet and was done. (Kids with AS take soo much time to explain this to, and I forget this everytime I start something)
DD1 was at a friends house for tea so escaped, and DP helped me clean the kitchen, including the fridge and cupboards. Watch this space to see if it lasts.

Abbey has been so cute today. She is trying to talk loads. Her latest is wazzzzzzzzzzat=what's that.

Oh my god, just looked at the time. Was soo gonna get an early night tonight aswell. Bugger!

Night all,

Jeanie

agalch · 26/06/2007 07:31

Morning ladies!!

God i am sooo tired, the nearly 3 years of shit sleep are taking it's toll on me.I really need to bite the bullet and get DH to do a night with Eilidh.i am pretty sure he could give her cuddles and what have you and she'd be fine.

Poor dh this morning tho,had to get up at 3.30am to drive down to Manchester for a meeting. Then has to drive up and check on work.Bloody slave drivers and so cheap, could have sprung fot plane/train fares.

DH and i are going out for a run/jog tonight.I have been going to the gym for a while and want to up my stamina a bit so gonna try that.Don't know how long i'll manage tho, probably 2 mins lol.

Girls still coughing and snotty and still no bloody teeth for Eilidh,She is biting and chewing everything in sight poor baby.

Have got DH to take t5he whole day off when i go to the Bryan Adams concert so my friend and i can go into Edinburgh for a whole day and shop/do lunch and go to concert at night. God i am so excited and looking forward to it lol.

Better go feed the dd's,loads to do.Ds2 has his p7 graduation this afternoon.

Have a good day all xx

Ceebee74 · 26/06/2007 10:11

Morning all

The sun is shining at last! Hope no-one is flooded (particularly you HC, although you should be ok with your boat )

Bloss - I have exactly the same conversation with DH when he is working from home. I ask him to change DS, dress him, watch him or whatever and I always get 'well what would you do if I wasn't here' to which I always reply 'I manage, but you ARE here'. Gets very frustrating.

And I totally agree with all of you who's DH feels his live shouldn't change - my DH is exactly the same aswell. They are obviously made from the same mould

This is just a quickie as I am meant to be working and since I am now charging by the hour as overtime, I should at least be working.

Has anyone else's lo developed 'Mr Tickle' arms? That is our new nickname for Josh because it would appear that no matter how out of reach we think we have put things, old 'Mr Tickle' arms manages to reach them - I swear they are telescopic and grow when there is something he wants

Kbaby - welcome back. Glad the holiday was good and your af came (if that is what you wanted). Don't worry about your DS - Josh doesn't say any distinguishable words either (apart from mama and dada at completely random times), he can clap, wave, and do some actions to Wind the Bobbin up, scream at the right time during Row Row Row your boat - and that is it.

ImpyChica · 26/06/2007 13:53

OK, so I'm the only knobhead who thought HC really did have a boat. . Guess I've been out of the UK too long and forget what forms of transport most people use...!

The menfolk issue is a hard one. I guess their only role models are their own fathers who, if anything like mine, weren't exactly hands-on dads.... My mum always says how impressed she is with DP's fathering skills cos her husband/my dad didn't do anything in the early years. Not that I'm making excuses for them - just trying to understand them a bit....

Anyway hopefully it'll get better as they get older. Hugs to everyone. Impy x

jacobandlysette · 26/06/2007 15:24

impy - you are NOT the only knobhead i was there too! half of the north of england (or so it seems) is under water - are all you northerners ok??? although on GMTV it was more important this morning that paris bloody shit for brains hilton was let out of prison than the plight of a village that was about to be flooded by a reservoir bursting sorry not her biggest fan

and on the DHs issue - i have the same sort of problems with mine but it's more that he is very controlling of what he thinks i should be doing with jacob rather than what he is or isn't doing iyswim?

we do the raspberries on jacob's neck and he loves them - actually on his tummy gets even bigger laughs! he has rediscovered blowing wet raspberries himself, and is particularly pleased at doing it while he's eating - cue food sprayed everywhere - really looking forward to this one on the plane

and yes ceebee he has mr tickle arms too!

must off and finish packing - will be absent for the next 2 weeks so don't chat too much without me and a very happy birthday to everyon'e birthdays I'm going to miss

12 months ago as now I had been admitted as my waters were gushing. Aw-am getting far too broody

DH's cousins daughter (keeping up?) was due with her first baby on the 17th-had a membrane sweep yesterday and if that doesn't work she is booked in for an induction at 6pm on the 27th Sophie's 1st Birthday !. Could be sharing birthdays.

Unfortunately I think Sophie is going to be a poorly Birthday Girl as she is barking when she breathes like Em did so I think she has caught the throat infection. She has already gone to bed. At least her party isn't until Saturday when I am planning a Bar B Que in the rain.

lysette-have a fab time hun.

All the rest of you, you have my permission to swat your other halves with a fly swatter when they step out of line!.

Tatty bye for now.

HumphreysCorner · 26/06/2007 21:17

She had her baby at 9am this morning and as my string correctly predicted she had a little girl.

jacobandlysette · 26/06/2007 21:27

well done hc! and well done your dh's cousins daughter!
got the rowiong boat out again yet

dh has just asked me what i'm doing and when i said just sitting down with a cup of tea, he said "well what were you doing before that?" so i said sitting on my arse all day. don't think he appreciated it much but o'h well....

can't wait till the holiday - in laws can keep both ds and dh amused and i can plug into the ipod (which i have fully charged ) and forget about everything for a few mins. you watch it'll bloody rain for two weeks and i'll be spray tanning when i get back for a tan

Ceebee74 · 26/06/2007 21:28

Ooh congratulations to your DH's cousins daughter (is that right?)- what great news.

In case I don't get a chance to get on here tomorrow - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sophie - I can't believe that the first one of our LO's is 1 tomorrow

Lysette - will miss you hun - make sure you are back for our twinnies birthday won't you Good luck with the new house x

Frenchleave here, can't be bothered to change it now. Quite like the new short name now

Just a quick one before bed to say a big Happy Birthday to Sophie! Hope she, and you, have a lovely day.

at HC's boat. Maybe you should all be constructing one, Noah-style, just in case? Plenty of the wet stuff here too. I was remembering today how unbearably hot it was this time last year and how I longed for cool air to waft over my big sweating belly. Bloody typical

We were away last weekend and T's naps were all over the place, so yesterday he caught up with a whopping one of 4 hours and 40 minutes I had to keep going in and poking him to make sure he was ok! No wonder he's nothing like as advanced as some of the other babies, he's barely awake long enough to practise crawling or talking

Right, I'm off to bed. Night x

jacobandlysette · 26/06/2007 22:32

happy birthday to sophie for tomorrow! Last log on till after the holiday so don't go moving too far along without me

ceebee nothing will make me be away for our twinnies birthdays! we get back on the 12th, so just in time!

hi castille - great new name by the way

lots of love everyone
