In honour of Sophie's impending birthday this week, I thought I would start a new thread....

Oh, how lovely Bella is. You must be overwhelmed with pride.

Went to my little job at WW-stayed the same this week so still haven't lost the 1lb I put on 2 weeks ago. Unable to stop eating. I had my friend's 10 year old helping/hindering me on the sales table. Had a queue of people and she was handing things out then couldn't work out the money side and I have to balance at the end of the night so jokingly told her to sit down as she was confusing me. Then an older lady next in the queue refused to deal with me and would only speak and give the money to my friend's daughter. Then she turned to me and said see, she can do it. I was v. annoyed at this!

Sophie and Emma have jabs tomorrow. Sophie's is a booster and Em's is a pre school jab. Oo-er!

Right, going to finish my crisps and wine and concentrate on The Time of Your Life.

Love to all

HC - did your sophie have or is going to have a 1 year check. I have read that they have one, but my GP receptionist has no idea what I am talking about, told me that if I am needed to attend a checkup, i will get a letter . ie, how do i know?!

KittenKat · 02/07/2007 21:44

and yes, very very proud of my little busy girl. She is into everything all the time, spends most of her time trying to get into, or on something or other. She likes climbing. She likes pointing and going 'luuk' or 'esat', at everything. Even if she is crying. The other day, she woke up distressed, went in to cuddle her, in my arms, crying her little eyes out, pointing at her pictures, her lights and her cot going 'luuk' luuuuuk' luk' in between cries! Think she might have been overloaded with input!

KittenKat · 02/07/2007 21:49

oh how quiet it is! I have not been on properly for ages, and I come on lots today and keep checking, and no-ones in!

HumphreysCorner · 02/07/2007 22:38

Kitten-am off to bed but yes, I got a letter for Sophie's 1 year check up when she was 11 months.

Night

pav - gorgeous photos of bella sounds like you had a lovely day and what a lovely bf you have, so thoughtful.

kz - 1 day to go, ah this time last year

been having probs with inlaws here, they have made no attempt to see charlotte for over 3 weeks now and havent even called to ask how she is, only a text over 2 weeks ago. dh been upset as thinks his parents dont care so he met his mum yesterday to chat about it in his lunch hour. she had an answer for everything he said and doesnt see shes done anything wrong said shes been busy at work and we should just pop in at weekend, dh told her we like to plan weekends as we like to know what we're doing, she said she doesnt work like that and will just pop in anytime. They only moved back to our town last summer (supposedly to be closer to family) and am not happy we have to change the way we live to suit them. Anyway dh is still upset as he doesnt think anything was resolved as his mum wouldnt take responsiblity for anything or compromise so we are just trying not to think about it and see them as little as we have to. Dont think i can be the same with them now though

Am so sorry for big rant but really needed to get that off my chest.

on a lighter note, charlotte is now crawling with speed, pulling up on everything constantly and into everything. She is also drinking brilliantly from her cup, all of a sudden one day and drinks loads now

Bit of sun here but doubt it will last
Have a lovely day everyone
xx

Morning ladies

Pav - what a beautiful little girl Bella is (not babies anymore are they). And agree with Annie, the top is gorgeous.

HC - how rude of that woman. If I were you, I would have sat there wishing she had put weight on

KZ - what a lovely (and humourous) birth announcement - must be great to be able to read it back.

No 1 year check here - just one at 8 months and then again at 2 (I think). More jabs though imminently iirc.

My mum and dads party went really well. Josh was an angel all day - didn't whinge or cry once. It did help having his 3 cousins to play with all afternoon. Practically every guest commented how good he had been (I am beginning to think that not all babies behave so well). During the speeches, he was sat playing on the floor and when everyone clapped, he dropped what he was doing, sat up and clapped really enthusiastically - so adorable! here is a photo of him doing it (though the lighting is really bad)

So much for having a nice week off - it is raining again today! Took Josh to an aquarium near us that has a tunnel which you walk through which goes under a huge pool with sharks and rays in so they swim over you head - it was really good and Josh was enthralled by it so we ended up going through twice. here is a photo of a shark swimming over head to show you how close they were!!

And tomorrow me and DH are having our first day together since Josh was born - he is going to nursery and we are going to Manchester shopping for the day. It literally is the first time we have had together without Josh since he was born - will I have to make conversation with DH or something??

Hi to everyone else - poor Bloss on holiday in this weather!

Happy belated birthday to the lovely Bella What lovely pics and sounds like a memorable day Kittenkat. What a brilliant thing for your BF to do, and what a lovely thing for Bella to have. Any wonder you were emotional.

I must get organised myself but luckily still have a few weeks to go yet. Am going out today to try and get some inspiration for presents for my little princess as the big day will be here before I know it!

14th of August should be good for me for the meet up KZ. Glad I haven't missed it.

I haven't heard anything yet but do know that Amelia will be having a one year old check up as I was told this is what they do now (where I am anyway!) in place of the old 8 month check. My HV said it is more of a group session where they have a group of LOs together and look at how they interact, development etc and then we can talk to them if we have any queries. So maybe some of the ones who had the earlier check won't have this.

Anyway, I'm off out while there's no sign of rain - yet!

jom · 03/07/2007 09:19

Very cute pic of Josh clapping Ceebee. Lucky you on having such a well behaved boy.

Amelia has just realised that if she gives people really big smiles when we're out and about she usually ends up getting lots of attention which she seems to love. The funniest thing is watching here trying to get someones attention if they're not really watching her!

I still remember your birth announcement KZ - especially the growling like a bear bit. As always, very well written.

HumphreysCorner · 03/07/2007 10:42

Morning ladies

kayzed-coming over all emotional reading your Birth Announcement. I don't 'know' Hillary-is she a MNetter? Sorry about the bad news-never nice getting bad news. Nearly Roshi's 1st B'Day.

Ceebee-clever Josh. Glad the party was a complete success. Enjoy your shopping trip. PMSL at having to make conversation. Don't think I could cope with just me and DH time-spend every evening with my head in my laptop to avoid talking-lol! Would rather talk to my screen.

Beadmum-grrh at your extremely unreasonable PITA MIL. Mine was on top form at Sophie's B'Day party. Telling me it is time to start potty training, moaned as she was wearing denim dungarees and where was her pretty party dress? Er, practical for crawling. Here is a pic of the two girls taken at the party Sophie and Emma My FIL plonked them both on chairs and must have taken about 20 pics and kept putting silly party hats on Sophie. Clearly she didn't like it hence her look of disgust at the whole thing. Even Em looks fed up of posing. You can just see me top left in my giraffe top and jeans . Had to grab the hoover as MIL's damned dog managed to empty the soil out of my plants.

jom-nice to hear from you. Have a good day. Raining here in Lincolnshire.

Yes, where is koshka? Helloooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better show willing and do some housework before taking Sophie for her jab.

KittenKat · 03/07/2007 10:47

Beadmum - for your inlaw probs. I know how you feel about lack of input. DD only got one card from a relative, from her granny, I was not expecting much as our families do not seem to be as rnthusiastic about babies as we are. Its quite upsetting but I dont let it get to me (or try not to), as it just wont help me, and DD is a wonderful baby with lots of people who love her, family or not . It is hard tho isnt it?

Roisin - almost 1 now! If I dont get on tomorrow, which might not as its another work day,

HAPPY FRST BIRTHDAY ROISIN! What do you have planned? Anything special?

BTW - her top was from M&S, we got it for the beach, so she would not burn, as it is very lightweight, we struggled to get long sleeved clothes that were not thick material. Its great, although a bit big, and of course not sun to go out and wear it!

Beadmum · 03/07/2007 12:05

ceebee- gorge picture of josh, what a clever boy

hc - lovely pic of sophie and emma, bless them posing for so many photos. sophie does look like shes had enough though

pav - how can family members be like that? 1st birthdays are special. Still to hear from my inlaws, be 4 weeks on sunday since theyve seen charlotte and her birthday is on monday, so will wait and see (live 5 min drive away too). You're right though, she has lots of other people around her and if inlaws cant be bothered neither should we, their loss after all

prettymum · 03/07/2007 13:14

bella- Happy Late Birthday!!!! the pics are sooo lovely, glad it went all so well! pav- youre bf seems sooo wonderful, that was such a lovely thing for her to do!!

i had my 2 bfs with me at dds birth, put them off from having babies forever!!

ive broken my stupid laptop and using dps, he isnt very happy as he thinks i keep messing his settings up and complains that i'll break his too! mine will be picked up on thursay as its still luckily under warranty. i miss it soo much, i have to sit and talk to dp now!!

happy birthday to all you ladies whose birthday it is this month in case i forget!!

have my bf coming over in a bit so better go clean up!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 03/07/2007 13:23

Hi girls,

Beadmum, and HC, sympathies re the ILs. Mine are also PITA's, though I am getting more tolerant as my babies get older, not so post-natal any more. I still resent her a lot though, when I think back on how she hogged DS...

HC, beautiful picture of your girls! Sophie looks so elegant, and Em is an angel.

Hi Jom

Ceebee, as ever, what a gorgeous boy you have!!

Must go, keeping me busy today. How dare they...

Annie

Beadmum, you are quite lucky they even text you. My 4 dc's last saw Dh's mum and dad on the 11th of April in the hotel the morning after our wedding. Not a visit, phone call or a text. They haven't babysat once for us and ds1 is 16 in September Bloody twats the lot of em!!!

We don't have a check up till Eilidh is due to go to school when she's 4.5 or thereabouts.

Pav,glad Bella's birthday went so well.I get emotional talking with my best mate too,she was there when both my dd's were born too.I know it is more so for you with losing your beloved mum(((hugs)))

Ceebee, lucky thing,DH and i were not alone even on our wedding night!! Have a fab time shopping

HC,nice dungarees,Eilidh has them but sadly grown out of them now.Your girls are very cute!!

Oh i got a letter saying Niamh has still not got into the nursery we want her to got to so have accepted a place in a really nice playgroup with nursey provision.Might be a gentler introduction to being away from me anyway.

We will be doing a joint birthday for the girls as Eilidh is the 1st and Niamh the 7th of August.I have done all the big parties when the boys were littlwe so not going to botherBad mummy lol.
Just can't be arsed asking my db and all his kids and DH's family cos they never come anyway.
Will prob just have a BBQ for us and my mum and dad and poss ds1's gf and her family.Would rather have them than anyone else, they at least talk to the girls and have offered more than once to babysit Won't take them up on it tho cos Eilidh is too little but maybe one day!!

better go play with dd1 while dd2 is asleep.

have a good day xx

wallace - congrats on the move

kz - at the slutz dolls, know what you mean about girls toys. could be why we avoided all dolls and got charlotte some mega blocks and musical shaker toys we also got some paint and have bought a messy mat, sponges and paper plates, cant wait!
