Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

No such luck for me RedFraggle,,but the weight appears to be coming off slowly but surely. I've been eating too many sugary sweeties though, which will stop on Monday. I've decided it's time to get back to RL and get moving a bit more and I'm going to join Weightwatchers or Slimming World. Wound still sore at one end (sort of burning/stinging) and its a bit weepy and whiffy...will get it checked out by GP on Monday.

daisyboo · 16/06/2007 20:31

Nope...no-one here. LOL you'd think you all had babies to look after.

My scar has taken a turn for the worse and is infected and giving me a bit of grief and pain. Taking two types of anti-biotic and confined to the sofa so I've been on here all day. Can't wait to get back to some semblance of a normal life.

Where is everybody??

Just popping into say hi! Looking forward to joining you all soon. Yes it is 5am, yes I have been up since 2.30 - see I'm getting into practice!

daisyboo · 17/06/2007 11:34

LOL DG......I've never come across a sprained armpit before . Just shows how much strength we can have when under stress in that fashion!

Glad you had a good day out, but hope you managed to resist the beer!!

Hows the LO doing....and what does DS1 think of his little brother? have you got any more, or is it just Rhuaridh and DS1?

just to say hi --it's hard to say much when typing w one hand only

S doing well at 3 wks finally taking 3-4oz every 2-3 hrs - will get weighed this week and hope for a gain so i can really get her onto a 3 hour routine (i'm a baby whisperer fan also pula!).

mum went home today - thankfully dh has pat lv this week! but then it"s into the deep end with 2 lo's on my own!!

saw my gp on thu for anti-d's --- such a hard thing to do but glad i did. don't want it to get as bad as it did when i went thru this before. blardy hormones...!!!

charlie999 · 17/06/2007 19:04

Hi - I also seem to have very little time to post.

Went to docs two days ago bout my anxiety attacks and have also been put on anti-d's (citalopram - is that the same as you Daisy?) - I suspect I'm getting myself in a state about my DH going back to work tomorrow. MW was very understanding and is coming round tomorrow - HV is coming for 1st visit on Wednesday. Will she weigh the baby? Not sure what to expect....

I also have small infection on my CS scar but only have one lot of antibiotics - I have to admit that as the scar seems to be weeping less and less and I can now clean it myself (with a mirror carefully positioned on the floor , I haven't actually taken any of them yet - metradinazole make me feel REALLY rough - they give them to alcoholics to stop them drinking!! I'll hold them in reserve and take them if I really need them - I feel sick most of the time anyway due to panic attacks - without taking these!

Hope all is well and everyone getting some sleep - I've just had an hour with DD on the sofa! Better go and see to dinner.....

daisyboo · 17/06/2007 19:30

I've had a thumping headache all day charlie....could that be the metrawotsitsname? If that's the one they give alkys, no wonder the instructions say avoid alcohol. I was tempted to have a wee glass today when out for Father's Day...I'm glad I didn't.

We were out for a meal, after a visit to a local garden which is just beautiful and idyllic (first family outing!!) and although I was sitting in the corner, I didn't quite muster up the courage to feed Em, so we opted for the screaming car journey home!

Sorry to hear about the ADs charlie....the ones they've given me are sertraline (known as Lustral).

What a bunch we are, hey!

lilKelBel · 17/06/2007 21:44

i'm starting to think they should put anti-Ds into the bounty pack! is nobody safe?

ooh must run - x

daisyboo · 17/06/2007 22:02

I got excited there Kel....someone to talk to, but you've buggered off again!

you very rarely actually catch anyone on here at the same time....it's usually a case of post and run.

anyway....been feeling pants today, so I'm off to bed!

lilKelBel · 18/06/2007 06:52

LOL Daisy - IKWYM. I normally have some time around 8:30 or 9pm before I dissolve into bed!

Terrible night last night. S wouldn't settle for more than 10 min - trapped wind - at a loss what to do - she's very moany...

kittykitt · 18/06/2007 10:53

Hello all!
Not had time to post on this thread at all - shame on me!
Sophia was born 11 days early on 5th June wighing 5lbs 9ozs and has been taking all my attention since!
She is tiny so feeding has been a bit of a nightmare with her only feeding for 10 mins before falling asleep on my boob everytime. She's been a bit better recently and got her to feed for almost 40 mins the other night - i think she is finally starting to get a bit of a growth spurt.
It's really hard knowing what's right for her as i am paranoid with herbeing so small that i'm not feeding her enough / often enough. She just wants to sleep ALL the time.

Interesting reading youyr experiences about night time sleeping in cots etc. Sophia is just the same - for the first couple of nights just would not sleep in her moses basket, but now is starting to settle a bit more.
Only up twice in the night last night, so that's a result!

Hope everyone else had a good night..

charlie999 · 18/06/2007 11:15

Blimey, my first day on my own (DH gone back to work today) and DD laying in travel cot quite happily while I'm in kitchen doing dishwasher, bottles, washing etc and when I return, she's done a HUGE puke - everywhere - all over herself, cot, clean stuff in the cot etc - god I feel so guilty - she must have been laying in it for 20 minutes! And she didn't even wimper!

Anyway, all clean now!

Daisy if you are taking metradinazole and feeling horrible, that is probably why! But, having said that, it is important to finish the course and get rid of the infection (shame I can't practice what I preach eh .

Blimey, gotta go, wimpering now......

daisyboo · 18/06/2007 12:09

Doesn't sound like the best start to your first day Charlie......hope it gets better.

I'm absolutely dreading when DH goes back to work as he works away and will be gone from Monday at 5:00am until Friday at about 5:00pm [yikes emoticon]

Still feeling very pooey. My headache has been pretty constant since yesterday lunchtime, and only lifts for about half an hour after I've take some painkillers.

I've also been very sweaty at night since Em was born....is anyone else experiencing this? I wake up abolutely drenched and have to change my jammies most nights.....horrible.

Hi kittykit....glad you can join us. I'm sure you're doing great with the feeding, just listen to bub and as long as she is putting on weight then sh'e fine. My friend had a tiny bub and he fed like a demon for ages, but by about six weeks he'd caught up with all the other babies.....and she refused to give him a bottle even though she was getting pressured by the HV to do so!

Right, hungry baby to deal with....later!

RedFraggle · 18/06/2007 13:02

Hello,

We actually had some sleep last night so I feel vaguely human today!

Tried swaddling etc but Matthew was not impressed. What has actually worked for us is moving him into his full size cot. He is no longer knocking the sides of his moses basket and therefore stayed asleep. He slept for two hours after a BF and then DH gave him a bottle and he slept for 3 hours! Yay!

Daisy, so sorry to hear about your wound, at least the anti biotics will sort it out now. Hope it is not too sore.
I've been very sweaty too - I think it is your body getting rid of the excess fluid. Your blood volume doubles (or something) when you are pregnant and that fluid has to escape after the birth, hence lots of weeing and sweating! Just embrace the sweatiness as a way of getting rid of some extra weight! (RedFraggle wraps herself in clingfilm to speed up the process )

We went to my parents yesterday for a Father's Day meal - it was bliss to escape the house for a few hours. Could have done without BIL being all happy that DS hadn't slept for us the previous night. His DS has been a nightmare when it comes to sleep (for almost 2 years..), our DD was a good sleeper from very early on so I think there are some sour grapes there. But to actually wish someone to have a poor sleeping baby is just he is a silly man at times..... I just pointed out at that at less than 2 weeks old he wasn't likely to be sleeping through just yet

HV has been today and weighed DS. He has put on 7oz already! I am very happy as it means the endless BF which has been driving me utterly demeted has actually been for some purpose.

Hope everyone is doing ok, and that all the babies are napping peacefully...

lilKelBel · 18/06/2007 15:39

Wow 2nd post today feels like I've been up for 12 hours - oh wait, I have been up for 12 hours....

Kitty good to hear from you. It must be very worrying having such a wee baby. My girl dropped from 7.5lb to 6.75 (lost 3/4 of a pound) in the week after birth and continued dropping a few hundred grams afterwards - totally awful downward curve. It was turned around after 10 days of fairly aggressive feeding on-demand, and even feeding not on demand (sometimes we had to wake her after a couple of hours). When changing her I would just touch her little legs where the skin had actually started to sag a bit and weep like crazy. My DH always accuses me of wanting to turn our kids into a 'Christmas turkey' but I must admit, it's comforting to see a wee bit of pudge here and there...

Charlie & Daisy - double [yikes] emoticons for DH leaving you so soon/for so long - !! Every parent has at some point discovered their child lying in a pool of puke. It's not a good moment. But we've all been there!!

I was also sweating like mad at night for awhile. It's stopped though. Then again I've also stopped losing weight so I guess that fits...

I reckon it'll be another sleepless night for us - Sienna's been sound asleep since late morning, apart from the few minutes I've managed to awaken her. Sigh. [dead tired emoticon]. Guess I should play some Scissor Sisters or something and get DH to switch off the cricket !

RedFraggle · 18/06/2007 15:49

Ah LilKelBel,

I gave DS a nappy change just to wake him up so he would feed and give me some relief! Felt rather guilty but also was hoping that if he woke up for a minute it might help with the poor sleeping at night!

HI DG......so how did you spell it in the end then?

I'd completely forgotten about registering the birth, but i think it's six weeks in England, not three. makes you wonder why it's different?

every time my poor dh yawns, i bark at him "don't you dare say you're farking tired". he's been great actually and has been getting up and changing her after her feeds and taking her off if she won't settle so that i can get some sleep!

went to get weighed today....she's regained her birth weight and some....7lbs 9ozs today, so MW very pleased with her. she's started to get a lttle bit lazy on the breast though, so my nips are sore again. I just can't get her to open her mouth wide enough...or if she does open wide, she clamps down again before i can get the nipple in.

RedFraggle · 18/06/2007 19:14

Sorry DG! Hope you had a nice bath. It is totally permissable to punch your DH for moaning about tiredness - maybe kick him in the shins too for good measure...

Daisy, I sympathise, Matthew is doing the half-arsed mouth opening thing too lately. I keep breaking him off and saying "OPEN your mouth" like it makes any difference

We're off to register his birth tomorrow. Couldn't believe we had to phone and make an appointment, and were told they couldn't fit us in until over a week later!
When I had DD at a different hospital, they had a registrar come in to the hospital so Dad's could nip downstairs and register the births while their partners were still in hospital!

daisyboo · 18/06/2007 19:19

LOL >Redfreaggle...I do that too, pointless really, but hopefully she'll stafrt to connect the words with the action. She's got my nipples all chewed up again today, but she has been feeding all bloody afternoon. Had an appointment at 2:30, and she wanted feeding at quarter to, so gave her a quick 10 mins then off to see MW. Then fed her for about 20 mins in the docs surgery at 3:00.......got home at 4:30 and she did 20 mins 20 min sleep then 20 minso other side till 5:30.....then she wouldn't go down/settle and I eventually had to give her another 5-20 mins after I'd wolfed down my tea just to get her to be quiet. She was still grumpy after that but settled for a finger to suck on.

When can I give her a dummy????

daisyboo · 18/06/2007 19:21

oops at the spelling......sleep deprivation does that to you, LOL!!!

BrownSuga · 18/06/2007 20:05

daisyboo, we lasted a week till gave sugacube a dummy. we got the cherry type ones, as supposed to be more nipple like for them.

midwife rec's not until after 6 weeks due to b/f, but as he wouldn't latch, i'm expressing and bottle feeding. he was just too agitated and angry and couldn't get to grips so to speak. i guess i should keep trying, but it does seem easier if i want to be out and about, and DH or nana looks after him, and he's still getting the goodness.

he's very grumpy today and only wants cuddling into chest, his fav position, but normally is very good.

i've been quite well, but lost it this week as i lost my engagement ring on the weekend. feel really down about it. my own fault, due to tiredness, was in the car and took rings off to put handcream on, then forgot to put them on again, and they fell off my lap when i got out of the car. found wedding band and a friend found eternity ring by the car, but no sign of engagement. even worse it is under insured as we had it made in middle east and will be 3x the cost to replace here. bollocky bollocks. just can't get past it yet. on the bright side, dh has promised a bigger one for 3rd anniversary, but it just won't be the same.

anyhoo, onward and upward.
