Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

Poor Will! Callan is sending sympathy vibes as he has poor little pricked heels and had to go on the blue light too!

hollyandalice · 28/06/2007 17:59

How long did he have to go under for catkin? It's horrible having to inflict pain on your baby isn't it? I'm sort of hoping he does have to go under the lights, he is very yellow and I am quite worried about him. I just think if he has some photo-therapy the problem will be sorted quicker IYSWIM.

trendaverter · 28/06/2007 18:19

Holly your poor Will, he has really been in the wars hasn't he?
Poor little mite I hope he is ok, you are certainly coming across as very strong about the whole thing tho, I would be a wreck.

catkinisamummynow · 28/06/2007 18:34

Callan was on the biliblanket for three days almost constantly except for feeding and changing. It made a huge difference to his jaundice and he's completely normal coloured now!

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 18:39

LOL, my laid back baby slept through her heel prick test!

Sorry to hear about Will, feed him little and often seems to be the advice for jaundice, and put his crib by the window.

Hi catkin....good to hear from you. Glad thre expressing is working for you, and I hope you can keep it going for as long as possible. Can you try again with getting him latched on do you think?

Tallulah, glad the mastitis is clearing, I've bever had it but it sounds horrendous. I was taking anti-biotics for my wound infection and they played havoc with DDs tummy and bum. It started to clear up two days after I stopped the pills, so it will pass soon.
There are some BF threads about weight loss which basically say as long as baby is pooing and weeing ok, then not to get too hung up about it. Apparently as well the charts in the red health book are based on FF babies and BF babies need different charts. There was a link I came across earlier, I'll see if I can find it.

Needs must with the shopping Holly....got a wedding next week. Thankfully the blouse will do for ages (it was £35), but the trousers were only £15 and will hopefully be too big soon enough, so I don't feel like I've wasted too much money.

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 18:43

Holly...another one for the stats thread

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 18:59

LOL CAtkin at the name change.

I need a new name I think...there are far too many Daisythisthatoranother about. I don't like being so common!

So, suggestions ladies please....it'll take your mind off the sore nips, lack of sleep, sore fanjos etc!

I have logged AngeloftheNorth, but that's a bit too full of myself isn't it, calling myself an angel? although I am from the north

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:20

so you're all here are you?!

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:31

oh.

catkinisamummynow · 28/06/2007 19:35

Angelofthenorth is a great name - The actual angel is 5 mins from my house and I have a bit of a soft spot for it so that would get my vote Daisy!

Regarding the BF - I keep trying to get him latched on but he gets so distressed and screams and thrashes about that I don't persist much. He's such a contented baby otherwise that i don't want to push the issue and (if I'm being really honest although i've not said this out loud to anyone yet) ...whispers... i'm not sure I actually like BF very much

catkinisamummynow · 28/06/2007 19:35

Come back lovely Foxy!!!

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:37

I'm just having cheese and crackers for tea with Annobal in AN!

BadZelda · 28/06/2007 19:50

Hello there...first time I've actually had time to open the laptop for a couple of days! DH went back to work yesterday and it certainly seems QUITE a challenge with two...especially as Matilda finally seems to be waking up a bit...so didn't manage to get any time today when they were both asleep. Oh well! Sure once I get a bit swifter at cooking I'll get less stressed...

Holly - Matilda had jaundice too - she'll have to go and have a test on Tuesday to check her levels, though all the yellow seems to have gone now. Marathon cluster feeding and stretches in the garden seem to have got rid of it fingers crossed. She's still sleeping ok at night though, so don't feel too knackered - Sputnik, sounds like your LO is pretty similar?
Only just caught up, but it seems that everyone's getting the hang of things now...bumper did you catch up on your sleep yet? zx

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 19:57

hi bz....sounds like you're doing ok though!

My challenge will start next week when my DH goes back to Lincs four nights a week!

BadZelda · 28/06/2007 20:11

yeah only one moment of desperately wondering 'what have I done?' today, and they're both still alive and kicking

BadZelda · 28/06/2007 20:13

Yeah - don't envy you that - it sounds like it will be pretty difficult. I'm stocking up on funny jokes to tell you when you're feeling stressed.

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 20:27

LOL BZ.....I will need some light relief come DSs bedtime. My worst fear is Em needing a feed when its time to put him to bed. I suppose I have no option but to try and enforce some sort of routine by feeding DD 3/4 of an hour before i put ds to bed.

any advice from other mums of two or three would be welcome

hollyandalice · 28/06/2007 21:10

Good news, William has high bilirubin, but doesn't have to go under lights atm. He is really sleepy, but is waking every 2 hours for feeds, so the jaundice should go soon.

Have to go watch scrubs now! Night everyone xxx

claire74 · 28/06/2007 21:22

Hi everyone, great to hear things are settling down for everyone. My lo is 2 weeks old today, and I seem to finally feel myself again, the aches and pains have gone and I'm able to bf without shields and really starting to enjoy it now.

Daisy - I'm already starting to dread how i'm going to juggle my 2 when my dp goes back to work next week, my dd1 is quite a handful and likes to be on the go all the time, at the moment my dp is totally looking after her, and i'm able to leisurely feed ds most of the morning! working on a routine at the mo though, and I pretty much know now when he sleeps and needs a feed so hoping this will help me plan my day with them both.

ds is feeding and sleeping like a dream, the only problem I'm finding is he keeps waking up at 4am growling obviously due to wind and he looks so uncomfortable , that I've just been getting him in bed with me , and he seems to settle a little bit better but still noisy, has anyone else got a growling baby in the early hours, I've started using infacol today..does this work?

claire74 · 28/06/2007 21:23

thats good news Holly

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 21:40

lol claire my dd growls constantly...I'm beginning to think i've given birth to a bear cub. I never sussed it was due to wind though, but its obvious now [durr]. think i might have a visit to a cranial osteopath....i'm only hearing good reports.

right, off to bed for an hour or so before she wakes again!

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 21:41

good news about will holly.....dd was jaundiced but she fed loads and it went after two or three days

claire74 · 28/06/2007 21:49

bearcub....cute! have a good nap.

Wishing everyone a good night.

bumperlicious · 28/06/2007 22:05

Hi all

Tying to to respond as I read up so apologies for randomness.

Catkin, LO still getting hiccups, though not as often, and we are seeing him again next Friday, so will keep you posted as to whether that makes them go away completely. I guess they are still going to get them sometime.

Jamantha sounds like you did brill today, well done. You are taking it all in your stride - I'm dreading it!

Tallulah, sorry you've had a bad day, hope you feel better now.

Good news about Will Holly, and at least he is waking for feeds. Should be right as rain soon.

Can't believe you went clothes shopping today daisy, are you feeling knackered from it?

Could I still have baby blues a bit? Definitely had it day 3-4, but now just cried through a feed and can't explain why, just so tired and worried we aren't feeding properly. She seems to be latching on ok and doesn't hurt unless she scratches my boobs (ouch), but feeds for a long time, and sometimes she'll seem like she wants more but when I put the nipple in she uopens her mouth but doens't clamps down.

3flightsofstairs · 28/06/2007 23:09

Just wanted to say hello! Only a few have popped on July and needed to ask about midwives visiting the house... One came unannounced on Sunday at 10am (me sleeping and in PJs but they never told me they were coming) and said I should stay in all day on Tuesday in case she came round again. Luckily I ignored her as she didn't come but no midwife came to see me with DS1 at all and I ended up having to hobble to docs to get csection stitches out!

Does anyone's midwife arrange a day and a time? I've been told that they're just too busy. And I think - well, so am I! DS1 is 19 months and we would both go loopy if we stayed in all day.

All going well here apart from really sore nipples and fanjo! Not sure if that's a great measure of success

Hope everyone's coping with feeding/walking/not sleeping etc.
