Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

Looks like we aren't the only one's who went to the cranial osteopath today. DD apparently had some problems in the bit of her spine relating to digestion which means the wind is fermenting in her belly causing lots of pain, plus having the cord round her neck is causing her hiccups.

Expecting things to get better in the next 10 or so hours. She certainly is much more floppy, and though she is still trying to get rid of wind, she doesn't draw her legs up so much.

Will keep you updated and if it works you all must go!

She has fed almost non-stop today. And when she hasn't been feeding she has been crying. We appear to have a brief lull so I'm going to try and have a sleep and hope she isn't restless for her daddy.

3flightsofstairs · 28/06/2007 01:01

Hi - don't know if this is the right thread for June postnatal? Has everyone gone somewhere else?

Quick TMI question - does anyone else feel like everything's going to fall out of their fanjo? I had 2nd degree tear and quite a few stitches and it doesn't hurt going to the loo, but it hurts to walk. Is this normal? It's not as sore as it was a few days ago and it's been less than a week since I gave birth, but it's really uncomfortable. Even more than the BF and that's bloody agony!

bumperlicious · 28/06/2007 04:27

3flights yes, that's exactly how I feel too! Especially when I've been out! You just have to take it easy if you can and not try and do too much too soon. Keep taking paracetamol and ibruprofen, and arnica if you have some. Hope you feel better soon

bumperlicious · 28/06/2007 04:29

Daisy, hope you mum is ok. Thinking about you That scar healed yet?

bumperlicious · 28/06/2007 06:03

to sputnik and TA and your easy babies! But you both totally deserve it after your pregnancies and TAs never ending labour!

Glad things are going ok for you both.

Daisy, and anyone really, do you really think the sleeping thing (me!) will get easier? I try visualisation and yoga relaxation techniques but I have always taken a long time to get to sleep, then I start getting anxious that I'm not getting to sleep. Then when I do sleep I just dream that I have DD in my arms and wake myself up panicking! Had an awful moment last night where not sure if I was dream or what but I though DH was trying to wake me up and was trying to shout and move and I couldn't, I was paralysed...really scary. Maybe my brain woke up before my body.

Jamantha · 28/06/2007 08:13

Well DH has just gone back to work. Good news is that after a lifetime of going in late and coming home late, he left the house early today so that he can finish early and get home to see his special girls So it's just me and C for the day (give or take a health visitor). C is now sleeping so I'm having a bit of "mummy downtime" to put my feet up, have breakfast, browse the net etc. Have decided that my priority is looking after C and me, and that I will aim to complete 1 household task a day over the next week, but not beat myself up too much if it doesn't happen at first.

As C had finally gained weight yesterday we were told we could relax the feeding slightly, and let her go 4 hours or so between feeds instead of a trict 3 hourly routine (obviously feeding more frequently if required though). Was really looking forward to the possibility of 3 or so hours sleep at a time, so what did she do? Woke like clockwork every 2 hours from 10pm to 4am! (Then thankfully relented a little with a 3 hour stretch until 7)

bumperlicious · 28/06/2007 08:25

Is this your first day on your own jamantha? Good luck! I know it's easy to say but forget about the housework for a bit, though I think one chore sounds manageable, but don't worry if you don't get it done. Next week my aim will be just to at least get dressed!

Well, DD slept for 5 hours 11 till 4 and now just waking up from another restfull 3 hour sleep. I don't want to speak to soon, but seems like CO may just have sorted out that wind. I slept for 4 hours earlier now she's just let me go another 2, waking herself up sneezing!

Ladies, get thee to thy nearest cranial osteopath! (preferable one who specialises in babies)

Jamantha · 28/06/2007 08:34

Bumper, yes this is 1st day on my own. And don't worry I'm not expecting to get too much done. I am hoping to get some of the washing sorted ready to be put away, but that's not too onerous a task, I thought. We had a ridiculous amount of washing waiting to be done and, largely due to DH constantly feeding the machine, it's now done, but piled up all over the dining table. So I hope to get it folded and sorted according to "owner" so that we can put it away tonight, as I am fed up with the sight of it (and with not having any clean pants in my knickers drawer!) Other than that lots of cuddles, feeding, hopefully some sleep, and quality time looking at my gorgeous daughter

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 09:10

just ducking it to say 'morning'.

Good news Bumper! You must feel like a new woman after all that sleep.

Jamantha, have a lovely day - sounds to me like you have it planned exactly right! Enjoy

trendaverter · 28/06/2007 10:58

My transition to bad mother is complete.

I am selling the bloody pump and going FF only. Mixed feeding was turning out to be a bloody nightmare.

For some unknown reason, BM left Sully REALLY windy and we were spending 3 hours winding and soothing him til it came out the other end every time I BF'ed him. It was proving to be a bloody nightmare. Also it doesn't seem to fill him up as much so after an hour he wanted feeding again and left us with a screwy routine. On Formula, normal burping is all that's needed and he's fine, and he wants feeding every 3-4 hours.

He has already just about grown out of his newborn size sleepsuits, I reckon we only have 2-3 days left before they are too small, anyone else got the Incredible Hulk for a baby?

In other news....I HAVE ANKLES! They are coming back! Holy shit!

How is everyone else getting along?

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 11:07

Cut the feet off his sleepsuits! You'll get so much more wear out of them!

oh, and stop beating yourself up about bf/ff!!

sputnik · 28/06/2007 11:17

Really glad to hear things are going better for you Bumper, hopefully the CO has sorted it out.

Sounds like you have things sorted too TA, I think my LO has grown too, as his newborn body suits are getting tight lengthwise and he's sporting a kind of off-the-shoulder look.

I zipped up a non-mat skirt today Have lots of overhang though . I have put on a horrendous amount of weight, but not sure how much as our scales are broken. I'm giong to wait a couple of weeks to buy some new ones.

sputnik · 28/06/2007 11:20

Ah, caught you Foxy. The cluster-feeding is DS's idea, but I'm all for it if it leads to a good night. He's done it all morning too.

bumperlicious · 28/06/2007 11:30

TA, you did a brill job, don't beat yourself up, you gave him the best stuff which is brill. No police in this thread!

Congratulations on your ankles too!

Good luck today Jamantha on your own.

Is cluster feeding just what it sounds like, lots of feeds close together? DD was doing that yesterday. If you do it do you swap boobs each time?

trendaverter · 28/06/2007 13:16

okay okay I will stop the self-inflicted guilt trips Foxy! PPFFHHHHHH

FF and proud

Oh it's to be expected tho, I have had it beaten in to me for months now that Breast is Best and all that, I can't help but feel a bit guilty and justifying my decision. But I'll stop now!

lilKelBel · 28/06/2007 15:12

Bumper and Jamantha - we just got back from the osteopath, and he reckons my girl's extreme windiness has been caused by lactose intolerance!!

I find this surprising as it's apparently inherited if a baby has it so young, but neither DH nor me seem to have it in our families...

I wonder if this 'bit of the spine to do with digestion' could be the problem instead, and causing the bloating?? Hmm

we're giving goats-milk formula a go anyway, on his recommendation.

she's definitely more floppy and passing poo for England since going, so the CO seems to have had an effect for certain!!

trace2 · 28/06/2007 15:22

hi all not caught up yet and i want to ask a question, dont laugh either ! my dd as a v shape at the top of her bum which goes in asa all your babes? i know this is my 4th baby but i carnt remeber seeing this on any of the other.

Jamantha · 28/06/2007 16:54

well dh should be home soon and have survived fairly well. cat got fed twice, i got fed twice, Charlotte got fed on demand, health visitor visited, living room got tidied and washing got folded. if i'd got C to sleep in her basket rather than on my shoulder so that i could have napped too it would have been perfect!

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 17:17

hello there.....

went shopping today for wedding outfit and have bought some trousers which are a tad on the small side (that is i can't get them buttoned ) but next size up was too big. so i have eight days to lose my roll of fat around my tum....can i do it? got a lovely blouse though that covers fat arse and hides all the lumps and bumps and i think i look pretty good in it all for someone who's recently given birth!

babyboo weighed in today at 8lb 10oz, so no question here of whether she's getting enough to eat.

last night she wouldn't let me put her down after her feed at 3:00am, so i was up till 5:30. she was growling whenever i tried to put her down and i couldn't get back to sleep because of it!

trace, if the v shape you're talking about is where the groove of her buttocks starts to disappearm then DD has that too....ds was the same, but less pronounced. I'm going on the assumption that as the paed/mw/hv haven't mentioned it, it must be perfectly normal.

All this CO stuff sounds positive, but Lilkel...I'd speak to doc about changing her milk and having a lactose test done.

bumper glad you got some sleep....makes you feel fab doesn't it? long may it last!!

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 17:20

Jamantha...glad you survived your first day!

3flights...this is indeed the June post-natal thread. how's it going?

TALLULAHBELLE · 28/06/2007 17:36

Hi all,
Thought was about time I checked in again. Have spent last few days bursting into tears or snarling @ DH. Guess this is the baby blues . Mastisis has started to improve after starting anti-bios but they seem to give DD sore tummy & bit of a runny bum. She was really unsettled yesterday , fed loads, pooed loads and didn't go to sleep till 3am. M/w visited this afternoon & LO has lost more weight. Need to feed her more - don't know how that is possible, she seems permanently attached- also have to express between feeds & top her up with EBM after each feed. Looks like I won't be leaving the house for some time! Hope everyone else doing well -you all seem to be coping admirably.

evenfattercatkin · 28/06/2007 17:38

Hello ladies!

My brain has started to reappear and I am able to type and make some sense again. Also, my awful stitches are starting to heal and so I can actually sit at the PC without being in agony. Hooray - It's so lovely to be back hearing all your tales!
Quick question for bumper about the CO. Was he/she actually able to do anything about the hiccups? Callan has hiccups all the time and they often make him sick. He had hiccups a lot when still in the womb too and also had the cord around his neck during labour. Your post made me wonder if it'd be worth getting him checked out by a CO?

evenfattercatkin · 28/06/2007 17:42

Hi Tallullah. Sorry that you're having a rubbish time at the minute. Things will get better - Callan lost loads of weight and had major feeding issues but we worked through them slowly (and weepily at times!) and he's just regained his birth weight. I'm now expressing all his feeds as the BF was so unsuccessful for both of us. I'm happy with the decision and things are now going well. I'm sure things will work out for you too - you'll find what works for you both and things will get easier, I promise.

hollyandalice · 28/06/2007 17:46

Hello everyone!

Daisy you are very brave going clothes shopping! I am too scared because I'm sure I still look pg! Your outfit sounds lovely, hope you manage to do the trousers up, I'm sure you will.

My poor baby has had more blood squeezed out of his little feet! He is very yellow and the mw had to take some blood for a bilarubin test as well as doing the heel prick. His heels look awful! We have to phone the hosp this evening for the results and he might have go in to go under the lights. Poor little mite, I feel so for him!

hollyandalice · 28/06/2007 17:52

Hey catkin, glad your stitches are better and you are doing well. It's good to have you back!

Glad the mastitis is going tallulah, I'm sure lo will get back up to birthweight soon, it sometimes takes a while.
