Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

Hi TA....it's amazing what a few hours straight kip can do for you. I heard something on radio 4 recently saying that we only need a third of the usual amount of sleep to catch up on lost sleep, so a few more four hour sleeps and you should feel nearly human again TA.

Jamantha · 27/06/2007 14:16

Took C to cranial osteopath this morning, who found one side of neck was stiff/slightly out of line and problem with one side of tongue. Hope the treatment she gave will help improve feeding. She certainly gapes at the breast a lot better now, could have fitted a couple of double deckers in there just now! And MW visited after lunch and C has finally put on some weight! They're going to check her again on Monday but feel SO much better.

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 14:23

Jamantha, that's great. Are COs only for babies that have been born naturally? could they do anything for babies born by elective c-section.

Em has real problems with opening her mouth wide enough to latch on, and I have to roll my nipple into her mouth most times, although sometimes she opens really wide and latches first time. Its such a roller coaster.

I was saying to DH earlier that I don't know where I would've been without MN. I know that as a second time mum I should know the ropes, but there has been so much information I've gleaned on here that I can look at and say that's where it went wrong with DS. I wish I'd known about MN back then, although I'm sure 5 years ago it wasn't as busy. I think MN has made me more relaxed about things this time around.

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 14:32

IKWYM daisy! I don't know what I'd have done without MN for company. Prob gone a bit crazy and shut myself in a cupboard for 9 months!

lilKelBel · 27/06/2007 14:35

Hello

Thank god for Infacol. I think it's really helping the wind situation here!

Also the larger teats arrived today and (drum roll please) we got 3 ounces in her twice in a row in under 1 hour (actually in about 15 mins!). WHOO HOO. Now maybe I can hope for TA's dream baby behaviour and some real kip tonight.

Even though Infacol helps we're still planning on going to the osteopath tomorrow, so Jamantha, very interesting to read your post. I think S might have some stiffness in her neck as well...

Daisy, CO's are apparently 'better' for c-section babies as the skull bones of cs babies have not undergone the compression of naturally-born babies, and it's this compression which apparently moves the bones into the right place. Apparently! I am talking out my arse based on what my clued-up friend told me. Will see what they say tomorrow & let u know how it goes...

As for driving, been doing it (short distances only) since 2 weeks! I hasten to add my insurance said diddly-squat about it and I felt rather fit so I'd consider those two factors before you get behind the wheel.

lilKelBel · 27/06/2007 14:37

to clarify, the two feeds were each under 1 hour --- not 2 feeds in one hour IYSWIM!!

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 14:44

I was thinking about CO for William. His head is so massive (99.7 centile!)it must have got well squashed on the way out! He does seem to be more settled today after the tongue snip, so we'll see how it goes.

Glad the infacol is working lilkel!

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 15:17

holly, did you settle on a middle name yet?

i took over your pa duties yesterday, but didn't do a very good job as i forgot to take them off the waiting list ..and will's middle name needs to go on.

still nothing from catsuitgirl and doggus

oh, what does alice think of him?

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 16:13

I've sorted it daisy! I couldn't be arsed to argue with dp any more, so he is William Robert!

Alice likes him, but is very hands on and keeps being a bit rough! She hates it when I bf, I think she thinks he's hurting me! She's getting used to it though and he always gets lots of kisses from her!

I'd best catch up, I missed kdracey and muchostinky!

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 16:20

I'm pretty sure DD just smiled at DH She's just woken up, is wide awake and not windy, and hasn't seen him since yesterday. when I handed her over, he was holding her under the armpits, and she grinned at him. Looked very different from a windy smile.

She's 3 weeks old now and seems much more alert than DS did when he was this age, so could I be right?

DS first smiled at 5 weeks.

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 16:36

glad you got it sorted.

sputnik · 27/06/2007 16:43

Hi all, feel a bit bad about posting as, so far at least, Baby Sputnik has been so easy. He just sleeps most of the time really, which might be the jaundice, and the last 3 nights has done 5 hour stretches, which might've been more if it wasn't for his big sister waking up. He does cluster-feed a lot in the evenings though.

I feel really lucky compared to many of you, but fully expecting wind/colic/reflux or something to kick in at any moment. Meanwhile I'm busy post-partum nesting, as my house is chaos, and am making good progress on all the piles of crap dotted about the house.

So you can all hate me! But I feel like it's payback for the bloody awful time I had in the last months of pg, and I'm so happy now not to be be pg anymore that I'm feeling pretty upbeat. No doubt it'll all come crashing down around my ears any moment

sputnik · 27/06/2007 16:47

Oh, and re post-pg bellies, Lilkel was mentioning some light exercises you can do. I found this which seems to be more or less what she described, and goes into some detail, there's a section on post-cesearean exercises too.

foxybrown · 27/06/2007 19:23

Hello, I'm lurking on this thread as much as AN. No one's told me to bugger off yet...

Sputnik, re cluster feeding. I've assumed that this is when lo feeds little and often (or even a lot and often) at certain times - i.e. the evening. Is that right? And is it something that just happens or do you attempt to do it? Makes sense to me to do a big feed in the evening before bed, so just wondering if that's right.

Daisy, DD definately smiled at 3 weeks. And that was at her dad too! What is it with these little daddy's girls?

Wishing you all at least a 5 hour sleep stretch tonight! xx

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 19:32

Aha...here you are foxy.

My DD is cluster feeding as well.....my nips have started retreating every time she whimpers.

Bloody MIL today, she asked me when I was going to start with "you know that milk that fills them up so they sleep longer" from a bottle so that she could babysit....politely told her that I was hoping to BF for as long as possible and that if Em did get a bottle it would be EBM, and not for a while until I get BF properly established.

At least she's keen I suppose

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 19:35

I thought I had a smile earlier but wasn't sure, but it was a definate smile for DH. DS has had one too. I was bouncing her gently on my knee earlier and she looked amused.

Gave her a bath earlier, and I was pouring some water over her hair when she sort of slipped....I managed to grab her but she got a faceful of water and screamed herself purple and pooed herself with fright . Think maybe next bath might be a bit traumatic for her!

derlor · 27/06/2007 19:35

OR are we on this thread tonight?

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 19:37

Hi Derlor....how are things, are your nips back to normal?

Have you seen the HV thread?

Bit of HV bashing going on (from me as well I'm shamed to say) but i did say that our "virtual" HV was fab!!

derlor · 27/06/2007 19:42

Hi Daisy, actually i'm feeling a bit smug today cause i'm feling SO much better. nips are greatly improved and i feel much happier. it's amazing what almost pain free feeding can do for your mood!!!.
How is your feeding going?
Oh dear no, i've not seen the bash your HV thread, not sure i want to!!!

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 19:43

I'm confused! Which thread are we on?

derlor · 27/06/2007 19:47

not sure Holly, i've opened 2 tabs to make it easier! (don't want to miss anything!!)

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 19:51

Glad your nips are better derlor! Mine feel so much better after getting the tongue tie sorted!

I seem to be living in a world of puke, William never stops! There is sick everywhere!

derlor · 27/06/2007 19:56

nightmare holly, have you got wood floors or carpets?
good news about your observation on the tounge tie i'm well impressed, they're all over on the other thread by the way.....>>>>

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 19:57

Best keep away from it Derlor...you'll only want a fight

Holly....DS puked for the first nine months of his life....he, me and all my furniture was covered in the stuff. He wore a bib all the time (or a muslin tied round like a bandanna) and had permanent rashes on and under his chin....

It stopped overnight when he was about nine months old. Apparently DH was exactly the same!

Feeding going ok, we seem to be getting the latch better, and when she was pulling off my nips I was taking her off...she seems to be getting the message. She's a bit gulpy and lip smacking at letdown though and windy as a result, but I've found if I hold her head and my boob until let down is passed its not so bad. Once she slows down I change position to cradle her head on my forearm.

derlor · 27/06/2007 20:00

aaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh Daisy go back to the other thread this is doing my head in!!!!!
