Well i think i was the frist to 'pop' from the due in june thread so i thought it was about time we started the post-natal thread.

DS2 is 2 weeks on monday I had him 4 weeks early due to induction for OC. Everything is going really well and i think things are finally starting to settle down (i hope i haven't just spoken too soon!!)

He is really suffering with colic though and were getting about 4 hours sleep a night on average and with a 2.5 year old there is no chance of catching up in the day, but i shouldn't complain as i'm lucky to have got two wonderful boys. Thats it now NO MORE!!!!!9smile0

I know a few other june mums have had their babies so it would be lovely to hear from you to see how you are all getting on (when you get the chance )

TA I know how you feel, I have been a blubbering wreck for about 4 days, so don't feel alone its the hormones, lack of sleep etc.. so I keep telling myself. With me it started end of last week when my belly button started to really hurt (don't laugh it sounds mad doesn't it?) and asked my MWto check it out. Which she did and sent me straight to GP who didn't know what it was either and has prescribed me antibiotics, suggesting it could be an infection of the umbilicus? But couldn't offer a reason why. It just panicked me and spent all fri and sat blubbering and then DS had a little rash on sun and I just cried and panicked. Although there was nothing wrong with him. My MW has discharged DS but is coming back to see me tomorrow as I was fighting back tears whilst talking to her yesterday. Why? I don't know, I just have this sense of over whelming panic and fear about everything.

derlor · 26/06/2007 21:15

shitey shitey shitey hormones!!!

daisyboo · 26/06/2007 21:22

Aw seansgirl, sorry you're feeling so crap at the moment. Baby blues are shite aren't they. Thankfully I have the power of medicine to help level me out or I dread to think what state I'd be in.

Keep an eye on it and of you don't start to feel better soon, go and talk to your doc.

Meanwhile, we're here to help you through it!

Seansgirl · 26/06/2007 21:39

I'm not feeling too bad today, have been out to DDs new school to get a book bag and then we all went on a 'family' outing to Webbs garden centre (massive place off M5) and had a wonder round and had lunch. Not having the time to wallow I think has helped, as has not being just in the house.

Yesterday was bad, that was when DH ordered me back on here. He says all that stress running up to the birth has probably had a knock on effect too. My DM says, "stay positive, you're a capable girl (?) witha lovely family and as a mother trust your instincts and you'll be fine."

daisyboo · 26/06/2007 21:50

you'll be doing a fine job SG...we all have moments of self doubt....I'm the worlds worst for it...and thinking i'm the worlds worst wife/mother/sister/duaghter/engineer etc etc

trendaverter · 26/06/2007 21:53

Aw Seansgirl!
You poor thing, I should shut up, I have the odd low moment but nothing like you by the sounds.
I don't know what the answer is... do we just keep plodding on until it passes?

Has anyone joined a mother and baby group? Does it help?
If we weren't so far apart we should have our own!

bumperlicious · 26/06/2007 22:01

gosh, you lot have been busy today. Not quite caught up but just wanted to say that, apart from reversing my car into a wall, the bf group was a huge help. There was a bf guru there, possible that I have an overactive let-down, causing DD to gulp down the feed taking in lots of air. Can be quite bad as if she keeps getting this huge let down, it may put her off feeding. One solution is to express a little to get the let down out of the way, also feeding a bit more upright.

She had a look at the latch and last feed we latched on 1st time! Really recommend it, though it has taken it out of me a bit.

daisyboo · 26/06/2007 22:23

hi bumper...all sounds really positive. i have the same thing with let down but babyboo clucks and smacks her lips and then pulls back onto my nipple. i have to get her off and start again usually. she's learning...slowly...

Seansgirl · 26/06/2007 23:04

TA No please don't shut up! Its theroputic for you and the rest of us too! Haven't joined a group but did last time and it helped!

Bumper sounds really ++ glad it went well.

bumperlicious · 27/06/2007 07:16

DD has done nothing but feed and be winded since 3.30! Little minx! Going to wake dh up, it's my turn to sleep - but I know the mw will come halfway through!

Hope you are all doing ok. Sorry some of you are feeling like shite. Crappy hormones and lack of sleep! God I'm dreading DH going back to work on Sunday.

Seansgirl · 27/06/2007 09:28

Ditto Bumper! DH goes back tomorrow At least I don't have to get anywhere tomorrow, but Friday I have to get DD to nursery for 9am!

Have been brave and weighed myself this morning! No wonder I am struggling with my 'normal' fat clothes I have put on masses of weight! I have put on around 2 stone! Could well be joining you with the slimmin world books Daisy! Bleurgh! I hate diets, sorry healthy eating.

Jamantha · 27/06/2007 09:31

My DH also goes back to work tomorrow. Part of me thinks it'll be easier with just the 2 of us at home and part of me is worried about how will anything get done?

Have also put on loads of weight. Must get back into the healthy eating and exercise habits I had pre pregnancy, but constantly famished while I am BF and expressing almost constantly, so trying to not be too hard on myself just at the moment.

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 10:03

well....i just did the get up and get to school routine ds had to come and wake me up at 7:30 , and we made it out the door for 8:40 with only three tantrums (only one from me, LOL) and we all had breakfast, but i never managed a shower. We were last on the carpet at school, but we weren't late, in spite of me realising it was raining as we were leaving and the subsequent scrabble for socks and boots, raincoats, and trying to figure out how the raincover fits over the carrycot!

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 11:05

Some news from Trace2

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 12:53

Afternoon everyone, hope you are all well. I've not caught up yet so I'll have to do that in a sec!

We've just been to the hosp to see the bfing counsellor as I thought William might have a tongue tie. I was right! The counsellor snipped it, quite stressful, but he only cried for about 30 secs and then had a feed. He is a big brave bear! The relief is amazing! He is feeding much better and it is so much less sore. Anyone who is struggling please check for tongue tie!

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 12:58

Hi Holly.....you allright?

Good you got the tongue-tie sorted. Does the paediatrician at the hospital not check that routinely?

What were the problems that arose from it, and what caused you to suspect?

sorry, being nosey!

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 13:04

Hey daisy! I've only not been online for a day and it feels like ages! At least I've not missed any births!

The paed didn't check for it, she was more concerned about trying to make me stay in hospital for another 24 hours to keep checking William's blood sugar! I only noticed it when he cried and I could see the little bit of skin was quite far up underneath his tongue. He was also taking ages to latch on and my nips were starting to crack and bleed, which I knew were problems you can get with tongue tie. So I took him in and they cut it! Poor little mite! It's all done now and he is feeding so much better!

Is your mum still with you? How's it going?

bumperlicious · 27/06/2007 13:05

Hi holly, sounds awful for poor will how did you know it was a tongue tie?

DD has fed nearly ever 1-2 hours since 3.30 this am. Is this normal? She is still really suffering from wind but bizarrely worse on left breast. Hoep the osteopath will help today.

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 13:26

dh took mum home yesterday and will be back today...did the school run all by myself this morning

we had a nice few days, but the weather kept us in....too pooey for mum in a wheelchair in the rain....she perked up a bit and weactually got her to eat something so fingers crossed it's done her the world of good. it's difficult though, she's lost lots of weight and just doesn't look well at all. I'm going to try to get up there for a few days after the schools break up, but its a busy few weeks coming up for us.

bumper, perfectly normal......she will be stimulating your supply for her next growth spurt. BabyBoo does this every four or five days, then goes back to 3-5 hours.

daisyboo · 27/06/2007 13:35

A question for those who had a section.....

Is anyone driving yet? DH goes back to work next week, 4 weeks after my section, and I need to get back behind the wheel as public transport is rubbish and i need to get back and forward to the hospital once a week.

Just wondered where everyone else was at.

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 13:38

I found this about tongue tie bumper and a pic here. I am a bit cross because if I hadn't noticed it then it wouldn't have been picked up til he was starting to talk and he would prob have had to have an operation to fix it.

William has been feeding every 1-3 hours, so that is quite normal bumper! Trust me it does get better! In a few weeks it'll be every 3-4 hours and you'll actually have time to do things!

My very organised and tidy friend is coming over in an hour and I really need to do some tidying, my house is a hole!

trendaverter · 27/06/2007 13:49

Feeling a bit smug today, just have to show off!

Sullivan is being an angel and only feeding every 3-4 hours and he is just adorable. I managed to get some kip last night and have dusted the house!

Ahhh the little things

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 13:57

Glad your mum enjoyed her visit daisy, I bet seeing your little man and lady was a real tonic!

hollyandalice · 27/06/2007 14:00

Well done to Sullivan! Bet you feel loads better after a good sleep!

trendaverter · 27/06/2007 14:03

God yes I do, now that people have got the hint to please stop calling at 7.30am to 'see how we are'.

I had to look up that tongue tie thing Holly, omg, bloody good job you noticed, I have never even heard of it.

I have to say overall I have been pleased with the level of midwife care I have had but there is always a niggle at the back of my mind that they don't check something, looks like poor William was proof of thet. Well done you for being clued up enough to identify it!
