Loved the meet up pictures, keep them coming !

Wilkie butternut squash and pear are our favourites here too but I never thought of mixing them. My AK book is 10 years old, maybe she's updated it now to give some new improved receipies.

EaH : impressive organisation if not a touch fanatical. I'm looking forward to hearing how much money you make. I've just given all my 0-3 stuff to my next door neighbours son who has just had his first son too, but I might look into selling the next stage soon if its worth the hassle.

DH : LOL at your toilet roll incident, now he can tick that box on the survey we all did recently (can't remember its name !) Glad to hear the potty thing is going well, I've found that boys are so much more lazy than girls in that department and it tends to stay into later life !PS I lived in Knutsford before DH decided to banish us up here !

Trixy : at your bad day. Can only get better.

Hello Berrypie, you'll fit in perfectly with the bakers on this thread.Hi to smallone too and any other lurkers who might be out there

Loubie : glad to hear things are OK now, it must have been very stressful.

PCF : hope your GP has reassured you now.

Shimmer :Happy Birthday ! Hope F gives you the best present by sleeping again !

Jodie : you must have muscles like Popeye I agree that the notepad tip is excellent, but it means that my posts just go on and on !

Finally started LO on some solids last week as he was definitely getting more and more interested in food. It got to the point where he even managed to grab a handful of lettuce of my plate and shove it into his mouth. Poor little thing must have been really disappointed to wait all this time and then get lettuce as his first taste (well if you discount the partially sucked hula hoop that is ) I think he's going to be an easy boy to feed.

We finally had the birthday party last week (remember the challenge girls to hit front page ) and 'in-control' mum gave me the invoice yesterday. I'm really cross as there were a further 13 boys invited that I don't know and she's just divided it all 3 ways. This means that I've paid on average £20 head whilst subsidising her mates so she pays £16 DH says I should confront her and get her to correct it, but tbh I cant be bothered, she knows how I've felt about the whole thing, so I've just paid up this morning and drawn a line under the whole thing. Next year I'll be doing my own thing. Rant over.

2happy are you far away from Alnwick ? The reason I ask is that during term time on the last Friday of the month they run a coffee with crayons morning in the garden. I am a member there and could meet up and get you in for free if you fancied it one time?

Hi to anyone I've missed out !

Dragonhart · 06/06/2007 12:27

Got the book laughalot! Thanks again. Will swot up tonight! So far 3 massive wees and no accidents today.

Pink glad they are checking it out for you.

Sorry no time to catch up properly, just about to make lunch. Hope all the los who had bad nights are ok and that the mums get a kip in the day

vinorouge · 06/06/2007 13:20

Wilkie - clever J rolling all the way over and back again. He must be wanting to impress those girls again! Great news about the christening too.

Rgee - I did put washing on at 6am just got back into bed. Am back from shops now and seemed to spend quite a lot but did get 9 ice cube trays in bright colours so am feeling pleased with myself. 75p for 3 seemed a bargain and they're quite deep too. I'm thinking Ellen will be a trougher when she starts eating. Also got my baby soltan lotion in the boots bogof suncream offer.

LaL - your bbq sounds wicked yesterday. Once our patio is finally done we will have a bbq. The bbq is still in its box from when it was bought 4 summers ago when we moved in.....never have got round to a housewarming.

UD - managed to get some sleep yet?? Sounds like a bad night

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIMMER !

Wilkie · 06/06/2007 14:11

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIMMER!!!!!!! (sorry, meant to mention earlier).

J is being a right little grouch today for some reason. He's driving me mad....maybe he is missing his laydeez

Meant to say. Am very . DH told me last night that MIL isn't sure she will have the car when I go back to work (only had 6 months to think about it) so is expecting J to stop overnights.

I don't want J stopping away from me every week, he is only a baby and he is my baby. Am starting to look at childminders in our area (I really don't want to send him to nursery). I am really really gutted cos I thought we had all of this sorted and I am extremely annoyed this hasn't been mentioned before. She has been going on about getting a cot for ages and I kept saying to her 'Why? We'll just bring our travel cot if we need to stop over' but clearly she was thinking about J stopping there during the week. AIBU????

Dragonhart · 06/06/2007 14:37

Can you drive him there and back or is it too far?

I have to say, there is no way my mil would get mine over night every week, but that is just me. Def not unreasonable imo. Esp when she has had so long to sort it out.

laughalot · 06/06/2007 15:05

Feel free to have a look at my new pic.

vinorouge · 06/06/2007 15:27

AIBU ??? No idea what it means.

Bit of a bummer to find out that when you are excited about christening. Bah humbug to MIL. You never know, you might find a really nice childminder and something good could come out of what initially seems a pain in the a**e

Been to the supermarket to get veg to make purees for ellen and completely forgot to get anything for tea. Have text DH saying he has to get it on the way home so can choose between supermarket or chippy. Secretly I am hoping for chippy.

Well after no poo yesterday ellen has treated me to 2 stinking delights today. The joys of motherhood!

Wilkie · 06/06/2007 15:39

AM I BEING UNREASONABLE - AIBU

What veg did you get???

vinorouge · 06/06/2007 17:04

I got carrots, parsnips, apple and pear. Forgot sweet potato even though it was on my list.

I've made a purchase via MN for sale! Never bought anything in such a fashion. Got a tomy walkabout monitor for a tenner. I'm ging to give it to mum to leave at her house.

We are having chips for tea. HOORAY. Hope DH remembers my mushy peas.

Better get the house tidied before he gets home. I don;t seem to have got much done today. Only just washed up from breakfast. I dream of a dishwasher......

RGee · 06/06/2007 19:01

Evening.
Well, lo in bed fast asleep, chicken casserole in the oven, veg cookin', cats fed (no mice), cuppa at the ready, dh still playing golf...yawn. Think I'm recovering from yesterday's excitement though - I'm knackered!

Lal- hope the sun shone (it didn't here) and no-one got burnt! VV cute piccy btw

Dragon - have a lovely time with your in laws. Just make them a cuppa, hand over the lo's, make your excuses and come and chat

Trixy - good bumbo poo! Pmsl! (Sorry!). We've had FOUR poos today (Pippa not me). She normally has one!! V smelly! Is it a full moon or something?

Kat - Nom nom not...pureed lettuce!! God I bet you're glad the whole birthday party thing is out of the way. Look forward to next year - were there three of you organising it if I remember? Have a joint party just with the other mum next year!

UD - don't yawn. You're making me yawn now...

PCF - Glad you got an appointment at the dr - fingers crossed for you. Good luck tonight at WW. You never know! You have lost "twenty pounds" (it will be worth it when you can reel it out for girlfriends in a few years!)

Wilkie - why isn't MIL 'not sure' she'll have the car? Is she selling it or does your FIL use it? Bit of a spanner in the proverbial works at this stage. YANBU!!!

Vino - dishwashers are fab. I recommend!! Enjoy your chips ( you could have had roast carrots and parsnips for your tea though )

Might be quiet here tonight. I love the interview episode on Apprentice!

BTW - 2Happy we need a new thread soon!!!!!!!!!!!

smallone · 06/06/2007 20:26

Happy birthday shimmer!

dd also very wakeful at the mo. She would wake up crying coz she can't breathe and then fall asleep on me as soon as I picked her up. I think she's got hayfever or a cold. It bothers her most at night when she's lying down. Have filled the room with Karvol and taking her into a steamy bathroom in the evening to try and clear those passages. Mostly tho she just seems to want mummy and only last night did I manage to get her to sleep in her cot.

smallone · 06/06/2007 20:30

we've also had poo city today. 5! and much smellier than normal. Could it be something to do with teething?

hattie2 · 06/06/2007 20:43

Hello everyone

I tried using the Jodie-patented "catching up" technique but after reading 3 days worth of posts it was turning into such an epic I've given up I'm afraid!

Nice to hear about the meet-up - someone please arrange one in the southern half od the country somewhere and I'll be there.

Nothing excting to report - LO v happy and sleeping well (apols to those up all night), work a bit dull but busy, FIL here for a few days at the mo so him and DH are glued to the footie.

Anyone know how if there is a maximum amount of formula you're supposed to give? Aptamil tin says 5 x 7oz per day for a 4 month old. I'm only doing 4 feeds a day (LO likes his bed too much, no time to fit in any more feeds!) and had been doing 8oz bottles but he was still crying after each feed so now doing 10oz per feed - is this too much??

Mrscarrot · 06/06/2007 21:31

Wilkie- sounds like a little engineering on the part of mil I would not accept that, total emotional blackmail, you will be miserable. I'd be inclined to discuss with DH, and decide whether it's best to contribute towards her getting a car, or seriously reconsider your working options. You cannot work if you are unhappy aboout childcare.

Shimmer- sounds like a growth spurt, not much help when you're going through it I know. But, the baby feeding more frequently is simply a trigger to the body that the baby is hungrier and it changes the milk. We had this a couple of weeks ago. Now he's back to 5-10 min feeds every few hours. If you want to start food then fine, but if you wanted to wait then it might be worth seeing if it settles in a week or so?
OMG sorry- Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laughalot- lovely pictures

Evening all...

Shimmer · 06/06/2007 21:31

Evening all. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and the sympathies about Freddie's sleeping. He did a bit better last night only woke twice so fingers crossed for tonight!

Just watching the Apprentice. God Trey (sp?) is a wanker!!! And Simon's just useless and Katie's obviously just a complete bitch.... I love these interview episodes!

Had an brilliant birthday today. DP and I went out for a gorgeous lunch (with several gorgeous glasses of wine ), which F slept the whole way through, so we had a nice relaxing time. Pottered round a garden centre in the sunshine this afternoon (i know i know, i'm 28 not 68!) as i'm redoing my brothers roof terrace for him and need lots of new plants.

Right got to get on with a couple of thank you emails so no personals this evening. Sorry. I'll make up for it tomorrow! Promise

Mrscarrot · 06/06/2007 21:33

maybe a London meet would be better for Southeners then? Two hours on the train for me but I quite like them, trains that is. Would have to be weekend, would never make school run otherwise

Loubie37 · 06/06/2007 22:28

Happy Birthday Shimmer, glad you had a lovely day

Hattie - Ben is almost 5 months now and he has 5 x 6oz feeds a day ie 30oz. It doesn't seem much considering he's over 18lbs now (not weaned yet either) but he's quite content on it. I have to feed him 3 hourly otherwise he'd never get his feeds in, he has them at 8:30am, 11:30am, 2:30pm, 5:30pm and 7:30pm (all 'ish'!) I think the total amount per day is more important than how many feeds.

Wilkie - commiserations re the MIL. No way would I let Ben stay overnight, with anyone. Is there no other way you could get him there? If not I would look at other options, MIL may miraculously get herself sorted car wise then.....

PCF - glad the doctors visit went well. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the scan and that it doesn't show up anything not nice

Sorry for so few personals but it would take me all night and I'm pooped!! I promise I'll do better tomorrow ;)

Wilkie · 06/06/2007 22:37

Smallone - J was snuffy so we raised the end of the cot with some coasters which eased the problem a bit and rubbed some of boots menthol stuff (like Vicks but suitable from 3 months) onto his chest. HTH!

DH and I have spent most of the day discussing childcare options - think we are going to try to find a good child minder in the area. I can't be doing with any hassle and have cried every time I think about it today

Dragonhart · 06/06/2007 23:09

There are plenty of really good childminders Wilkie - sure you will feel better when you sort it out. xxx

Only one wee accident today when he was falling asleep in front of the tv [bad mummy emocicon] but unfortunatly a big poo on the kitchen floor! Actually I am supprised at how much wee he does in a day. No wonder he was really uncomfortable in nappies!

House all tidy for MIL coming! Dont think EAH would pass it but by my standards it is spotless!

Ruth did 2 poos today which for her (2-3 a week normally) is alot! I think these babies have been talking again.

I am actually getting excited about weaning R now. All this talk of ice cube trays and purees, and R keeps chewing when we are at the table (she sits in her high chair watching poor love).

Rgee- trouble is that the puter is in the lounge so they might see what I was saying about them

Dragonhart · 06/06/2007 23:11

All I seem to be thinking about/taking about is poo and wee! And I have been in the house since Sun to help Luke so I think I might be going crazy!

RGee · 07/06/2007 08:01

Gooooood moooooooorrrrrrrrniiiiiiiingggggggggg Mumsssssssssssssnnnnnneeeeeeeeetttttttttt!

Hello all. Still reeling from the Apprentice last night - my, what a fab episode! Hope you all caught the BBC2 show afterwards too - it was hil-arious! I was rofl at bra-lady's comments.

Moving on, today's excitement is waiting in for the Sky man. We are upgrading to Sky Plus. For free - hurrah! Dh threatened to cancel so they decided to give us a new box and upgrade us. Marvellous!

EAH - meant to say I got my Nursery and Toys fire engine ride on (sounds a bit rude)delivered yesterday. It's fab, I keep playing with it. Must put it away for Xmas...
